Definitions

  • the invention relates to a folding handle device for the physically handicapped for installation in sanitary rooms, with a bracket to be attached to a wall, to which a cantilever-like folding handle is articulated via a joint with a horizontal pivot axis, and with a spring to compensate for the swing back moment of the folding handle generated by the handle weight.
  • Such folding handles are used for a physically handicapped z. B. to facilitate the use of a bath, shower or toilet; Such a folding handle must also be able to be swiveled up as easily as possible by the handicapped against a wall carrying the folding handle in order to remove the folding handle from its use position, in which it protrudes from the wall and protrudes from the bath, shower or toilet, and out of the way to be able to clear.
  • a first known folding handle device has a catch for the swung-up folding handle, which can be pivoted more or less freely around the handle joint.
  • This known construction has a number of disadvantages: it is particularly difficult for a disabled person to swing up the folding handle, and in this respect the known construction is particularly disadvantageous because the disabled person swings up the folding handle not only because of its considerable pivoting moment caused by its weight must overcome, but also the considerable frictional forces in the handle joint, which are required in this design to prevent the handle from falling after releasing the effective in the upper position locking.
  • the latching is either unsafe, especially after a longer period of use due to wear on the latching elements, or the release of the latching requires considerable actuation forces.
  • a folding handle device of the type mentioned at the outset has become known, which has a spiral spring in the handle joint to compensate for the pivoting moment of the folding handle generated by the handle weight.
  • the folding handle consists of solid material, that is to say of a solid metallic rod, and it can be secured in the swung-up position after being swiveled up by rotating it sideways to the wall.
  • the torque curve of the spiral spring that is, the dependence of the spring torque on the pivoting angle of the folding handle, requires that the handle joint is designed in such a way that when the folding handle is pivoted, it has a considerable extent Friction occurs so as to achieve, if possible, that the folding handle remains in all or almost all pivot positions.
  • the invention had for its object to provide a folding handle device that is easier to operate than the known folding handle devices and in which the operating forces are largely independent of the period of use.
  • this object can be achieved according to the invention in that at least the region of the folding handle adjacent to the handle joint is designed as a tube, in that the spring is designed as a gas pressure spring arranged in this tube, the first abutment of which with the tube and whose second abutment is connected to the holder, that the pivot axis of the handle joint in the horizontal position of use lies above the line of action of the gas pressure spring force and that the gas pressure spring is connected to the second abutment via a second joint with a horizontal axis.
  • the curve of a torque generated by a gas pressure spring can be varied within certain limits by appropriate design of the gas pressure spring and / or by appropriate arrangement of the attachment and articulation points of the gas pressure spring adapt to ergonomic requirements.
  • the gas pressure spring is accommodated in the tube, the gas pressure spring is not only invisible but also largely protected against contamination.
  • gas pressure springs with end position damping are available on the market, so that when using such a gas pressure spring it cannot happen that the folding handle strikes hard when pivoted into its upper, approximately vertical or into its lower, approximately horizontal end position.
  • the torque curve can be adapted to that of the folding handle by appropriate arrangement of the fastening and articulation points of the gas pressure spring - the pivoting moment generated by the weight of the folding handle depends on the angle by which the folding handle was pivoted out of its approximately horizontal position of use, and there is no linear relationship between the swivel angle and the swivel back moment.
  • the joint between the gas pressure spring and the holder of the folding handle device could lie outside the folding handle;
  • the handle joint and this second joint are arranged relative to one another and with respect to the end of the handle so that this second joint is in the use position of the folding handle inside and when the folding handle is pivoted up outside the tube . It is particularly advantageous if the second joint - when viewed from above - is covered by the tube when the folding handle is pivoted up, because then dirty water dripping from the pivoted folding handle can hardly reach this second joint.
  • Embodiments are particularly advantageous in which the line of action of the gas pressure spring force forms an acute angle with the tube axis and below the handle joint whose pivot axis is closer than the tube axis, because in this way the articulation point of the gas pressure spring close to the wall can be brought as close as possible to the pivot axis of the handle joint, a measure which has an advantageous effect on the actuating forces.
  • Such a folding handle is particularly helpful for a physically handicapped person if it is not simply formed by an arm-like rod or such a tube, but if the folding handle is formed by an isosceles tube which is approximately U-shaped in side view, the handle joint being at the free end End of the upper handle leg is arranged.
  • Another advantage of this construction is that the free end of the lower handle leg than the lower, i.e.. H. the stop determining the use position can serve, which in the use position rests in particular against a plate which is part of the holder and with which the folding handle device is fastened to a wall.
  • a further improvement of this embodiment is that the free end of the lower handle leg is provided with an impact-damping stop piece.
  • the handle area adjacent to the handle joint engages in a sleeve on which the handle joint is arranged.
  • a preferred embodiment of the folding handle device according to the invention is characterized by a protective cap for the handle joint, which is preferably a cap that can be snapped onto the handle joint, so that it is simple and cheap e.g. B. made of stainless steel sheet or plastic.
  • the measure of arranging the gas pressure spring in a sleeve that is closed on one side and fastened in the tube, the closed end of which forms the first abutment, also serves the goal of minimizing manufacturing costs. Then you do not have to laboriously attach an abutment within the tube or tubular area of the folding handle, on which the gas pressure spring is then also to be mounted, but the sleeve together with its gas pressure spring can be inserted into the folding handle and then z. B. attached to the free end of the folding handle, for. B. by spotting using a welding machine.
  • the holder, the folding handle and the handle joint are preferably made of stainless steel or another corrosion-resistant material.
  • FIG. 1 and 2 show a holder essentially formed by a carrier plate 10 which is fastened to a wall 14 by means of screws 12; like the screws 12 and all other parts of the folding handle device, it is made of stainless steel.
  • a folding handle joint designated 16 as a whole is attached, for. B. welded, which consists essentially of four components: a fixed to the support plate 10, in particular welded bearing block 18, a bearing sleeve 20, an articulated bolt 22 which connects these two parts to one another and a protective cap 24 which can be snapped onto the bearing block 18.
  • a sleeve 26 is welded, the axis of which, according to the invention, does not intersect the pivot axis of the folding handle joint 16 defined by the pivot pin 22 and, in the use position of the folding handle to be described below, extends below the horizontal plane running through the pivot pin 22.
  • the protective cap 24 has a cutout 28 so that the sleeve 26 can be pivoted upward from the position shown in FIG. 2 by approximately 90 °.
  • the folding handle 30 formed according to the invention by a stainless steel tube has essentially the shape of a lying U (when the folding handle is in the use position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2), namely a U with two legs 32 and 34 of equal length, which are separated by a welded connecting web 36 are connected to each other, so that a stable structure results.
  • the in the use position upper leg 32 of the folding handle is, as can be seen in FIGS. 3 and 4, inserted into the sleeve 26 and with this z. B. firmly connected by welding.
  • a stopper 38 is fastened, which is preferably a rubber or plastic part and with which the folding handle 30 bears against the carrier plate 10 in its position of use.
  • the left end of the upper leg 32 of the folding handle 30 has a sleeve 52 which is closed on one side by means of a rear wall 50 and which has a flanged edge 54 at its open end which serves as a stop so as to prevent it that the sleeve 52 can be pushed further into the tube forming the folding handle 30.
  • the rear wall 50 has a hole 56, through which a threaded pin 58 has been inserted, which is fastened to a cylinder housing 60 of a gas pressure spring 62.
  • a cap nut 64 was screwed onto the threaded pin 58 before the sleeve 52 together with the gas pressure spring 62 was inserted into the folding handle 30.
  • a piston rod 66 of the gas pressure spring is connected in an articulated manner by means of a fork-shaped end piece and a pivot pin 68 to an abutment 70 which is fixedly attached to the carrier plate 10, in particular by welding, and the pivot pin 68 runs parallel to the pivot pin 22.
  • the abutment 70 is relative to the Folding handle joint 16 is arranged so that the axis 74, which is equal to the line of action of the gas pressure spring force, forms a small angle ⁇ with the axis 76 of the tube section forming the upper leg 32 of the folding handle 30, in such a way that in the use position of the folding handle the gas pressure spring axis 74 of the pivot axis of the folding handle joint 16 is closer than that Pipe axis 76.
  • the gas pressure spring 62 can be pivoted slightly in the hole 56 in the rear wall 50 of the sleeve 52 because the rear wall 50 is not clamped between the nut 64 and the cylinder housing 60.
  • the folding handle device according to the invention is extremely easy to assemble.
  • the gas pressure spring 62 Since the gas pressure spring 62 is a component offered on the market, it requires no further explanation. Their compressive force acting between the rear wall 50 and the abutment 70 produces a torque about the pivot axis of the folding handle joint 16, the size of which depends not only on the design of the gas pressure spring 62, but also on the position of the pivot pin 68 with respect to the pivot axis which can be freely selected within certain limits 22 of the folding handle joint 16 - if the size of the torque generated by the gas pressure spring 62 is mentioned above, it goes without saying that the size of this torque changes depending on the pivoting angle of the folding handle 30, and this torque tries the folding handle 30 to pivot up against the wall 14; In the opposite direction, the torque generated by the folding handle weight acts about the folding handle pivot axis 22, which has to be compensated for with the gas pressure spring 62 and the size of which also depends on the size of the pivoting angle by which the folding handle 30 moves from its position in FIGS.
