Definitions

  • Wall ties are assembling and securing means serving to secure for instance an outer and an inner wall of a house wall being composed of such two walls to each other.
  • Wall ties (see Fig 7) are usually Z-shaped means made of suitable thick threads which during for instance building of a mortar bonded brick wall are laid in position in the two wall portions, namely with one branch of the Z- ⁇ hape placed "-in "-position gripping into one ' of the wall -portions while the other branch of the Z-shape is placed in posi ⁇ tion in the other wall portion.
  • the wall ties are kept in place by the curing or cured mortar or concrete if concrete forms the material of the wall, etc.
  • wall tie comprises a straight, snake or angle shaped metal means made of thick thread arranged to grip only into one of the wall portions and to protrude out on one side of the wall, being the side unto which insulating mats are to be secured. Also such wall ties may be poured into the wall material when making the wall. The insula ⁇ ting mats are stuck unto these wall ties and are secured to them by means of a disc shaped means which usually coirt- prise a bushing or tube shaped portion being dowel barbed.
  • These may also be stuck through the insulating mats after these are fitted with through bores including the boring of holes for the dowels in the wall portion behind the mats for the sticking of the dowel portionsinto the single bored ; ih ⁇ les.
  • a long shaft shaped means from without is stuck through the dowel shaped bushing or tube shaped portion expanding the dowel from within so that this securing means keeps the insulating mat effectively in place on the wall portion.
  • the bushing or tube shaped dowel may also be internal barbed for fixation of the shaft shaped means against being withdrawn.
  • a purpose according to the invention is to provide a wall tie being able to perform all the above mentioned 5 functions in a simple manner, 'though -being cheap and being thus provided that the drawback of having freel -protruding wall ties during transportion of, for instance, prefabricated wall elements is avoided, and whereby it is made-possible that also freely protruding inconvenient wall ties are
  • thewall, tie is.firstgo ⁇ ing tobe mounted whenthus a * mat " is put in place put against a carryingwall portion, and withoutconsumeof time for via an untransparent insulating m_rtf ⁇ rst-t " o locate a.drilledhole for its receiving of a dowel element which, thereupon, had
  • the means of the wall tie for engaging with the wall comprisesthreaded means it is possible, self- threading, directly to screw the wall tie into the wall without the use of any dowel means.
  • a torque around the common axis of the screw thread is re ⁇ quired.
  • the tool may be tube shaped and comprise, for instance, a suitable attrition at one end of the tool thus being provided to be inserted over the free extending length of the wall tie.
  • the attrition may engage with the surface of attack or with the means of attack provided on the wall tie.
  • This tool is able to be received by or inserted into a drill chuck of a drilling machine capable of screwing the screw into a given wall portion.
  • a drill chuck of a drilling machine capable of screwing the screw into a given wall portion.
  • the wall engaging means of the wall --ties are not shaped as screw-threaded means, but suitably dimen ⁇ sioned are barbed shaped .it may be advantageous with moun ⁇ ting taking place through a kind of screwing-in including a simultaneous pre ⁇ sing-in, though, the screwing-in move ⁇ ment can also by the wall tie according to the invention take place through a kind of wriggling motion including a pure rotation around the longitudinal axis of the wall engaging means, and simultaneously including apressing-in.
  • the stem portion or extending length of the wall tie may be shaped according to the invention as given in claim 5 and/or in claim 6.
  • the wall tie is improved when it is fastened by pouring-in, and a moduled length adaptation is simulta ⁇ neously made possible, in which case also a nut may be screwed in place on the wall tie strictly taken.
  • the wall tie also through the narrower shaped por ⁇ tions between the threaded length portions provides ample space for the positioning of disc means able to keep in ⁇ sulating mats in place.
  • the threaded portions of the wall tie are in practice most easily manufactured in one wor ⁇ king operation by roling-on of the thread being a cheap manufacturing method.
  • Figure 1 illustrates an embodiment of a wall tie accor ⁇ ding to the invention, which embodiment has the wall engaging means shaped as screw-threa ⁇ ded portions
  • Figure 2 illustrates an embodiment of a wall tie accor ⁇ ding to the invention being a little different from the embodiment according to Fig. 1
  • Figure 3 shows a further embodiment of the wall tie according to Fig. 2
  • Figure 4 shows cross sectional view IV-IV according to
  • Figure 5 illustrates an insulating mat fastening disc adapted to be stuck unto the wall tie accor ⁇ ding to the invention
  • Figure 6 shows a tube shaped tool to be used when moun ⁇ ting wall ties according to Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4, and which tool is able to be stuck into the chuck of a drilling machine
  • Figure 7 shows a Z-shaped wall tie according to the prior art technique.
  • the in Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 shown embodiments of a wall tie 1 according to the invention are at the end, which are shownat the left hand side of the drawing, provided with wall engaging means shaped as screw-threads 2.
  • Fig. 1 they are shown as two-threaded having two different dia ⁇ meters of the two threads.
  • 3 refers to surfaces of attack for a mounting tool.
  • the wall tie 2 is only provided with single-threaded screw-threads 2 , but, beginning at the surfaces of attack 3 for a mounting tool, in direction towards the right hand side of the drawing, the wall tie is provided with constriction zones or peripherally arran ⁇ ged weakening lines 4. At these zones or spots 4 the right hand stem portion 6 of the wall tie more easily, and pos ⁇ sibly through more than one bending operation, is brought to break-through.
  • the zones or spots 4 may be arranged at modular distances as from the left hand portion of the wall tie.
  • FIG. 3 A further embodiment of the embodiment according to Fig. 2 is shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing.
  • the difference - lays at the right hand stem portion 6.
  • the weakening spots 4 are here substituted by spacings between the screw- threaded portions 5. It may be advantageous to let the outer most right screw-thread portion be shaped longer than the others, while it is more difficult to break the 5 wall tie through there than at the other places, while, on the other hand, the screw-on-length of a screwed-on means, such as a nut or other fastening means, for any given third means, then is better adaptable to such a purpose so that more possibilities for the usefulness of the wall tie are 0 present.
  • a holding means 7 for an insulating mat, as viewed towards the side of it, is shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing showing a radial attrition 8 serving to grip over the constriction zones or weakening spots 4 of the stem por- 5 tion 6 of the wall tie respectively to grip in between the screw-threaded portions 5 of the wall tie.
  • a tube shaped mounting tool 10 is shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing.
  • the left end of the tool is pro- 0 vided with attritions 11.
  • the right end 12 can be stuck into the chuck of a drilling machine.
  • the mounting tool 10 may from the right hand side be inserted over the stem portion 6 of the wall tie 1 according to the invention.
  • the mounting tool 10 when 5 suitably withdrawn towards the right, but still sitting on the stem portion of the wall tie., i.e. with this portion of the wall 'tie being loosely held by the mounting tool, is able to bend the thus outer portion of the stem 6 in relation to the wall tie portion protruding from the wall respectively to break the wall tie stem portion end off.
  • a wall tie according to the invention may thus be usefully applied together with practically all used wall materials which could be brickstones, ortel, concrete, light concrete, wood, etc., and the use of the wall tie according to the invention provides as well an economic advantage as an advantage at its handling, and also the risks of wounding persons due to protruding means are lowered to an as optimum regardable minimum.
  • the means of attack 3 of the wall tie may be tooth shaped.
  • a shaping as a wing or more or less as a tooth, possibly together with one or more screw-thread portions, respectively with groups of these, referred to through 5, may incorporate a shaping ping with adaptable opblique surface sides ofthese shapes enabling a manufacturing by means of a single roling-on operation, and while still preserving the usefulness of the wall tie according to the invention.
