- the invention relates to a device for transporting paper in printers, in particular in matrix printers, for drawing in continuous webs by means of traversable tractors arranged in pairs on the printer frame, the pins of which engage in the peripheral perforations of continuous paper, the pin belts being guided over at least one wheel of the tractor and there is at least one driven tractor wheel.
- Such pairs of tractors are used as a pull tractor or a push tractor.
- Train tractors pull the paper web out of the printer from a storage container over the platen and are therefore arranged behind the platen in the direction of transport.
- Push tractors push the paper drawn from the storage container through guide channels to the pressure abutment and push it further out through guides out of the printer and are therefore arranged in front of the pressure abutment in the transport direction.
- Feeding the paper involves fewer problems with single sheets than with multi-layer continuous webs. It can therefore be advantageous to use a push tractor instead of a push tractor when feeding paper from below to the printer.
- a printer is rarely equipped with both types of tractor because double equipment would increase the manufacturing price.
- the structure of the printer becomes more complicated if both types of tractor are arranged.
- the present invention is based on a standard version of the printer, which provides a permanently installed pair of tractors as a pushing device for edge-perforated endless webs.
- the invention has for its object to propose a locking device for the tractor pairs in both push and pull tractor design.

- the tractors 7, 8 have at least one driven wheel 13 which is rotatably mounted on a polygonal drive shaft 14.

- the projections 16 of both tractors 7 are held in a transverse guide 17 which extends in a continuous guide 17 which extends parallel to the drive shaft 14.
- the guide 17 can be provided with a toothing 18 on its support side 17a, and the projections 16 consist of resilient arms 19, a lower arm 19a having a toothing 20 which engages in the toothing 18 of the guide 17.
- the tractors 8 according to FIGS. 3 and 4 are designed as described and are also driven and held by a polygonal drive shaft 14. At the same time, the two tractors 8 are supported on a round rod 22.
- the drive shaft 14 and the round rod 22 are fastened or pivoted in side end shields 23a and 23b and together form a removable and easily reusable structural unit.
