Abstract

The coping ventilation device disclosed comprises an externally convex coping cover element (10), located externally and with a hole (11) in the region of the crown, and further comprising an insert (20) located in the cavity in the coping cover element to collect precipitation which enters and lead it back out. The insert consists of a central element (23) located at a given distance below the opening plus, staggered with respect to it, side elements (21, 22) which, for a given height of the central element, are located at a given distance from each other. Air passes from the space under the roof through this gap, is deflected sideways and passes between the side elements and the central element, whereupon it is deflected again over the central element before escaping through the opening in the cover element to the atmosphere. Conversely, precipitation which enters is deflected by the central part on to the side elements from where it passes into the cover element seating zone. The fact that the opening in the cover element has an upturned edge (12) creates a suction action. Alternatively, a spoiler cap can be mounted over the opening, thus producing a Venturi effect.

Description

The invention relates to a ridge ventilation device, consisting of an outside, curved outward, provided in the apex region with an opening ridge cover element and an insert arranged in the cavity of the ridge cover element for collecting and draining out of penetrating precipitation.

First venting devices of this type serve to discharge air moisture penetrating into the roof space to the outside. They are also intended to prevent the build-up of heat and cold and to equalize pressure between the inside and outside in strong winds.

A generic device is known from DE-OS 33 13 875. The insert consists of two shell elements that are curved upwards and one above the other, each of which is provided with air passage openings. The air passage openings are offset from one another as seen over the bulge periphery. By design, it is permitted that precipitation penetrate both through the openings in the outer shell and through the openings in the arch element underneath. They are only caught and derived by the innermost, last arch element. A relatively large number of parts are therefore required. In addition, the repeated deflections of the air flow can result in the air exchange not taking place in the desired intensity. Since the outer element rests with its two edges on side flanges which protrude from the insert elements and form their edges, a backflow of liquid can occur men, in particular because dirt, leaves or the like can clog this under the weight pressure of the outer element, serving both as a support and as a drainage area.

The invention has for its object to provide a ridge ventilation device of the type mentioned, which is structurally simpler and yet ensures a sufficiently strong air exchange.

This object is achieved in accordance with the characterizing part of the main claim.

The invention has the advantage that the deflection of the air flow is reduced to a minimum and that the cross-sectional areas of the air path can be kept relatively large in relation to the dimensions of the ventilation device. A correspondingly larger roof area can therefore also be ventilated for each ventilation device. In addition, since the shape of the insert is simple and clear, the laying of the ventilation device is simplified, so that the labor costs for roofing can be kept low.

A preferred development of the invention is that the opening of the outer element is provided with a tear-off edge protruding outwards. The tear-off edge has the effect that a draft flowing along the roof creates a negative pressure above the opening, so that the roof ventilation is supported by the suction effect.

The swirling of an air stream sweeping along the roof and the generation of a vacuum area is further increased by the fact that a further tear-off edge is arranged parallel to the tear-off edges running in the longitudinal direction and below them on the surface of the outer element.

This further tear-off edge also has the advantage that a defined, reinforced rib is present, which serves as a support during stacking of such elements during transport and storage. The weight of the stacked elements is therefore controlled downwards through these reinforced areas, so that the risk of breakage is reduced.

It has proven to be particularly expedient to have ribs projecting inward into the cavity corresponding to the further rib-like tear-off edges. In addition to the defined weight transfer within a stack, they also perform other functions relevant for ventilation. They protect the ventilation duct against external air that could penetrate between the longitudinal edges of the outer element and the associated roof panels in the contact area of the outer element. In addition, they fix the inner element, preferably with the aid of an elastic base element that generates a predetermined preload and prevents rattling noises. Adequate water outlet is achieved through recesses in these ribs on the underside.

A foam material, as is known as a Komprie sealing tape, has proven to be particularly suitable for the elastic underlay. This material adapts to the profile and the surface of the associated roof tiles without having to be shaped accordingly in a separate machining process. It can also be easily glued to the underside of the insert.

For the middle part of the slide-in it proves to be particularly simple in terms of production technology and aerodynamically particularly effective that it is provided with a slight external curvature. Reliable drainage of precipitation is achieved in that the middle part is provided with a drip edge.

Similarly, it may be appropriate to provide the outer edges of the side parts with a drip edge, which also has the advantage that it ensures the correct assignment of the insert to the elastic base and prevents moisture from penetrating into the base.

A further embodiment of the invention is that the inner edges of the side parts are provided with an upward-pointing collar, which keeps the sub-roof reliably dry even in the case of large amounts of water, for example in the event of a downpour. In addition, the drip edges and the collar also serve to stiffen the insert lengthways.

The passage cross section between the middle part and the side parts is at least impaired in that the spacer consists of at least two transverse ribs. The ribs also connect the two side parts to one another, so that overall a relatively rigid body is formed.

To further stiffen the insert, it is also advantageous that vertical transverse ribs are present on the upper side of the central part, which extend into the area of the opening of the cover element. The ribs also have the advantage that they form a grid that prevents the ingress of leaves, small animals or the like. prevent. They also prevent precipitation from sloping.

In a particularly preferred alternative development of the invention, there is a spoiler element, consisting of a horizontally running spoiler cap and vertical spoiler carriers placed on the insert. In the assembled Zu the spoiler cap is located above the opening of the cover element. It creates a venturi effect, through which air is extracted from the sub-roof.

As the partial section of the ridge cover element 10 further illustrates, the ridge cover element is provided with two support ribs 14, 15 which run in the longitudinal direction and project substantially vertically freely into the cavity. They are essentially below the further tear-off edges 13, 13 ′, so that when several such ridge cover elements 10 are stacked, the supporting ribs 14, 15 come into engagement with and are supported on the further tear-off edges of the ridge cover element below each. Within a stack, the weight of the ridge cover elements is therefore taken up in the area in question by the further tear-off edges 13, 13 'and supporting ribs 14, 15 and is derived downward.

Alternatively, it is also possible to provide other punctiform supports interacting with the supporting ribs 14, 15 instead of the further tear-off edges 13, 13 ', as schematically shown in dashed lines at 16.

In the cavity of the first cover element 10 there is an insert 20 made of plastic (first layer insert), which is an air-permeable and precipitation-resistant chicane. The length of the insert 20 can match the length of the ridge cover element 10. However, it is preferably an integer multiple of the length of the ridge cover element 10. The insert 20 consists of two longitudinally parallel, spaced-apart side parts 21, 22 and a central part 23 bridging the space between the side parts 21, 22 at a predetermined distance The middle part 23 and the two side parts 21, 22 are essentially connected to one another at the end faces by means of spacers 24 which form transverse ribs. For longer missions 20 there are several such spacers 24 'distributed over the length. On the side, there are openings 25 and 26 between the side parts 21 and 22 and the middle part 23 as air passages. The side parts 21, 22 lie stepwise or shoulder-like laterally below the middle part 23. A plurality of inserts 20 can be inserted into one another at the end side in such a way that one end side of each insert 20 is open (not shown), ie that the end spacer 24 in question is removed.

Die Fig. 1 veranschaulicht ferner zwei Leitflächen 42,43, Ausnehmungen 18 in den Stützrippen sowie teilweise einen Rippen einsatz 46.1 further illustrates two guide surfaces 42, 43, recesses 18 in the supporting ribs and partially a rib insert 46.

As illustrated in FIG. 2, roof tiles 32, 33 are placed on the two uppermost roof battens 30, 31 oriented perpendicular to the plane of the drawing. Between the upper ends of the roof tiles 32,33 there is a passage gap 34 for venting the roof space 35. Along the edges of the roof tiles 32,33 and adjoining roof tiles (not shown) there is a strip-shaped, elastic foam underlay 36,37, which as Komprie sealing tape is known. The insert 20 with its side parts 21, 22 rests on these two documents 36, 37. Since the documents 36, 37 adapt to the outer contour of the roof tiles 32, 33, a form-fitting, essentially airtight seal between the roof tiles 32, 33 and the insert 20 is achieved.

From above, the supporting ribs 14, 15 of the ridge cover element 10 press onto the areas of the side parts 21, 22 supported by the documents 36, 37. The insert 20 is glued to the documents 36, 37. Overall, however, the ridge cover element 10 is not supported on the documents 36, 37, but lies with its lower edge 17 on the roof tiles 32, 33. It can be fixed to the central part 23 by means of the transverse ribs 44 which extend over the edge of the opening 11. The rib insert 46 in the example shown is releasably attached to the insert 20. For this purpose, there is a continuous locking lug 55 or locking points on the central part 23 ', which is / are spring-loaded behind by fingers 56 on the supports 52. The supports 52 (FIG. 3), like the ribs 44, can form a protective grid against leaves, birds, etc.

The supports 52 and the ribs 44 also fix the ridge deck element 10 'in its position. The transverse ribs 44 are connected to one another above the latching lug with a longitudinal rib 45 the height of which is such that it does not obstruct the air flow.

The middle part 23 of the insert 20 is arranged exactly below the opening 11 of the ridge cover element 10 and at a predetermined distance from the inside of the ridge cover element 10. It is provided with a slight outer curvature and with a protrusion over the two side parts 21, 22 so that penetrating precipitation flows onto the side parts 21, 22. As a precaution, drip edges 27 are formed along the edges of the middle part 23. In addition, the underlying edges of the two side parts 21, 22 are provided with a collar 28 which prevents rain water from flowing into the space 38 between the two side parts 21, 22. For reliable drainage of precipitation, the side parts 21, 22 are provided with a slight external inclination. The drainage takes place essentially through recesses 18 open at the bottom in the contact area of the support ribs 14, 15. The middle part 23 is arranged essentially at a gap to the opening 11. The two side parts 21, 22 end on their outer sides in drip edges 29 bent downwards, which laterally overlap the documents 36, 37.

The function of this ridge ventilation device is described below. Air from the roof space 35 passes through the passage gaps 34 and the overlying space 38 to the middle part 23, where it is deflected laterally and flows through the openings 25, 26 according to arrows 39 into the passage 40, 41 between the middle part 23 and the ridge cover element 10. From there it can escape freely through the opening 11 to the outside.

The tear-off edge 12 tears off the flow of the air currents flowing along the roof from the outside. This creates a vacuum suction effect, which the Roof ventilation supported.

In order to provide as little resistance as possible to the air flow in the passage gap 34, it can be expedient to provide side guide surfaces 42, 43 which extend downward on the insert 20 and extend from the inner edges of the side parts 21, 22 to the area of the roof battens 30, 31 ( shown in dashed lines). They can also be used to nail or screw the insert 20 onto the roof battens 30, 31.

In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the same parts as in Fig. 2 are given the same reference numerals, so that the descriptions are omitted in detail.

The Firtdeckelement 10 illustrated in FIG. 3 'differs from that of FIGS. 1 and 2 in that there is no tear-off edge along the opening 11. In order to produce an increased suction effect, a plastic spoiler cap 50 is placed on the middle part 23 'of the insert 20'. It consists of a downwardly curved spoiler 51 above the opening 11 of the ridge deck element 10 ', which narrows the passage cross section to accelerate a cross flow 53. A venturi effect is created, which draws air from the roof space according to arrow 54.

The spoiler 51 is detachably fastened on the insert 20 in the example shown via supports 52 which are aligned in the direction of the transverse flow 53, as was described in connection with the transverse ribs 44 in FIG. 2.
