- This plastic tightening key consisting of a handle and a tightening head which has a polygonal opening in which is embedded an open metal insert, made of hard steel, also polygonal, and whose walls form clamping jaws ( or loosening), is characterized : - in that the walls of the metal insert forming jaws are parallel to the lateral faces of the polygonal opening of each clamping head and slightly protrude from these lateral faces; - And in that, at the level of the jaws, the thickness of the insert is between 0.5 and 0.7 times the thickness of the clamping head.
- the invention consists in providing the walls of the hard and resilient metallic insert, slightly protruding from the lateral faces of the opening of the head, and in having determined an optimal ratio between the thickness of the insert and that of the tightening head itself, so that, when tightening (or loosening), the stresses are essentially concentrated on the insert itself and no longer on the tightening head itself, which makes it possible to reach the required industrial standards, between Nm 45 to 60.
- the thickness of the insert must be at least equal to half the thickness of the clamping head, but preferably less than 0.7 times this thickness; in fact, if this latter ratio is exceeded, the residual thickness of the plastic material is too small to be able to validly absorb the stresses transmitted by the insert, so that in the long run, cracks appear; similarly, if this ratio is less than half, during tightening, part of the stresses are distributed in the head, which also becomes fragile;

- the opening (5) (see Figure 3) is intended to receive a bolt or nut (7) of 22, while the opening (6) is intended to receive a nut, bolt or the like of 24.
- the handle (2) and the heads (3,4) are made of polyarylamide loaded with 60% by weight of glass fibers, sold by SOLVET under the registered trademark "IXEF".
- each of these openings (5,6) has a pentagonal shape, symmetrical with respect to the median axis (I, I ′) (see FIG. 3), and comprises a metal insert (10,11) embedded in a head (3,4).
- These inserts (10,11) are made of 35 CD4 steel, with a hardness coefficient of 48 HRC.

- the metal insert (10,11) has the following characteristics: - opening L1: 32 mm - depth L2: 30 mm - length L3: 54 mm - width L4: 68 mm - alpha angle: 25 ° - beta angle: 30 ° - gamma angle: 27 °.
