Abstract
A composite tool includes a first body 14, preferably made of steel alloy, a second body 12, preferably made of carbon fiber or glass fiber, coated on the outer periphery of the first body, and preferably a third body 16, figure 8) made of carbon fiber or glass fiber coated on the periphery of the second body. The first body 14 may extend into the handle (as shown), or may be located only at the tool head (eg, figures 1,4 and 9). Also disclosed is a hammer (10D, figure 10) in which the second body 12 is located on an innner periphery of the first body 14.
Description
2353751 COMPOSITE TOOL HANDLE The present invention relates to a composite
tool handle.
A conventional tool handle in accordance with the prior art is made of a steel alloy that is heavy, thereby causing inconvenience to a user when rotating the tool handle to adjust a workpiece. In addition, the conventional tool handle is electrically conductive such that the user is easily susceptible to shock when the workpiece contacts an electrical source, thereby injuring the user of damaging the work piece. Further, the conventional tool handle with little elasticity easily produces vibration when the user holds the tool handle to rotate it to adjust the workpiece, thereby decreasing the stability of the tool handle. The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the disadvantages of the conventional tool handle.
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a composite tool handle comprises a first body made of steel alloy having an outer periphery, and a second body made of carbon fiber or glass fiber coated on the outer periphery of the first body.
The composite tool handle further comprises a third body made of carbon fiber or glass fiber coated on the periphery of the second body.
Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings:
Fig. I is a side plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with the present invention; 2 Fig. 2 is a partial perspective view in partial section of the composite tool handle in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a side plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 4 is a side plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 5 is a partial perspective view in partial section of the composite tool handle in Fig. 4; Fig. 6 is a top plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 7 is a partial perspective view in partial section of the composite tool handle in Fig. 6; Fig. 8 is a top plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 9 is a side plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention; and Fig. 10 is a partial side plan view in partial section of a composite tool handle in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1 and 2, a composite tool handle in accordance with the present invention is adapted to suit an adjustable wrench (10), and comprises a first body (14) made of steel alloy, and a second body (12) made of carbon fiber or glass fiber coated on the outer periphery of the first body (14). The first body (14) is formed with two jaws (140) in opposition to each other to adjust a workpiece (not shown).
3 In such a manner, the second body (12) made of carbon fiber that is light greatly decreases the weight of the composite tool handle, thereby decreasing the cost of fabrication, and thereby facilitating a user operating the composite tool handle. In addition, the second body (12) made of carbon fiber with great strength and rigidity can efficiently increase the vibration absorbing effect of the tool handle when the user holds the tool handle to rotate it to adjust the workpiece, thereby increasing the stability of the tool handle. Further, the composite tool handle with the second body (12) has a great corrosion resistant and acid resistant capacity.
Alternatively, the second body (12) made of glass fiber can be used to increase the aesthetic quality of the tool handle.
Further, the second body (12) made of carbon fiber or glass fiber will prevent a user from being shocked by an electric current due to its insulating property, thereby assuring the user's safety when holding the tool handle.
Referring to Fig. 3, in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, the first body (14) longitudinally extends into the middle of the second body (12).
Referring to Figs. 4 and 5, in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, the composite tool handle is adapted to suit a pair of pliers (I OA).
Referring to Figs. 6 and 7, in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, the composite tool handle is adapted to suit a closed end wrench (I OB).
4 Referring to Fig. 8, in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, the composite tool handle further comprises a third body (16) made of carbon fiber or glass fiber coated on the periphery of the second body (12).
Referring to Fig. 9, in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, the composite tool handle is adapted to suit a pair of side cutting pliers (10C).
Referring to Fig. 10, in accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, the composite tool handle is adapted to suit a hammer (1 OD).
It should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. '
