Definitions

  • the invention relates to an arc quenching chamber for an electrical switch with quenching plates which are arranged transversely to the longitudinal extent of a switching arc and have at least two incisions arranged next to one another.
  • An arc quenching chamber of this type is known for example from DE-A-31 31 437.
  • quenching plates are used, each of which has an incision on its side facing the switching contacts and optionally one, two or more incisions on its side facing away from the switching contacts.
  • an incision can be arranged asymmetrically on the side facing away from the switching contacts in order to form a meandering channel through the twisted assembly of successive quenching plates.
  • Arc quenching chambers equipped with quenching plates are basically suitable for use in circuit breakers for alternating current as well as for direct current.
  • the invention is based on the object of creating a quenching chamber which is particularly suitable for DC high-speed switches and which is also suitable for the voltage range above 1000 V, which also has a high current limitation and is distinguished by only a small gas ejection in compact dimensions .
  • An advantageous way of realizing the offset arrangement of the incisions can be that the incisions are arranged asymmetrically over the width of the quenching plates and successive quenching plates are mounted rotated by 180 ° relative to one another.
  • quenching plates with a symmetrical arrangement of the quenching plates, in which case successive quenching plates are then mounted laterally offset.
  • the invention can preferably be carried out with relatively acute-angled incisions, the angle of inclination of the flanks of the incisions relative to one another being less than or equal to 30 °.
  • quenching plates are used with incisions arranged symmetrically over the width
  • insulating plates with grooves can be provided for holding the quenching plates, which successively have a smaller and a greater depth corresponding to the desired offset of the incisions of successive quenching plates and that each have a groove of lesser depth Isolierstoffplatte a groove of greater depth is assigned to the opposite Isolierstoffplatte and vice versa.
  • This arrangement allows the quenching plates to be installed by simply plugging them in.
  • the incisions have the smallest possible radius of curvature at their tip. This should not exceed 1 mm. Such small and even less than 0.5 mm rounding radii can be achieved if the incisions be produced with the help of laser beam cutting.
  • FIG. 1 schematically shows a DC high-speed switch with an arc quenching chamber shown cut away.
  • the arc quenching chamber according to FIG. 1 is shown in FIG. 2 from above.
  • FIG. 3 shows two extinguishing plates arranged one behind the other in an enlarged view compared to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3.
  • FIG. 4 shows another exemplary embodiment of an arc quenching chamber in a direction of view of the edges of the quenching plates facing away from the switch contacts.
  • the DC high-speed switch 1 shown in FIG. 1 has a fixed switching contact 2 and a movable switching contact 3 interacting with it in a known manner. Both switch contacts 2 and 3 protrude into an arc quenching chamber 4, which has arc guideways 5 and 6 and quenching plates 7.
  • a drive device 8 of a suitable type is also shown schematically in connection with the movable switching contact 3.
  • the arc quenching chamber 4 has a housing 10 of approximately rectangular cross-sectional shape. In a known manner, the housing 10 can be made in one piece from an insulating material or from several parts.
  • the quenching plates 7 can be arranged parallel to one another, as shown in FIG. 1, and, as is known per se, can be arranged with their lower edges facing the switching contacts 2 and 3 along an arc whose center is on the side of the extinguishing plates 7 facing the switching contacts 2 and 3. Deviating from this, the quenching plates can also be aligned radially or can be arranged with different angular positions between adjacent quenching plates.
  • the extinguishing sheets 7 made of magnetizable sheet have the shape shown in FIG. 3.
  • Each quenching plate has on its side facing the switching contacts 2 and 3 four V-shaped cuts of the same size and arranged next to one another, the flanks of which are at an angle C of approximately 12.5 °. Between adjacent notches 15 there is the same distance D. However, the group of four notches 15 is arranged asymmetrically with respect to the width of the extinguishing plate 7, such that a smaller distance A and between the left notch 15 and the edge of the extinguishing plate 7 the right of the incisions 15 and the following edge of the quenching plate 7 there is a larger distance B.
  • the quenching plates 7 are each mounted alternately rotated by 180 °, so that, due to the asymmetrical arrangement of the incisions in each of the quenching plates, an overlap of the incisions of successive quenching plates appears in the projection.
  • the cuts of such an extinguishing plate 7 'rotated through 180 ° are shown at 15' in FIG.
  • the incisions are arranged asymmetrically such that there is an overlap of the incisions 15 and 15 'of approximately 1/3 of the mouth width of the incisions 15, which is denoted by W. Due to this measure, two further incisions appear in the projection, which are denoted by 17 and 18. These reach about 1/3 or 2/3 of the depth of the incisions 15.
  • the greatest possible depth of the incisions is obtained if one is as small as possible Rounding radius at the foot of the incisions is available.
  • a small radius of curvature of preferably less than 1 mm can be achieved in particular with a small flank angle C by the production with the aid of laser beam cutting.
  • pins 20 are shown in the figure, with the aid of which the quenching plates 7 can be positioned and held in the walls of the housing 10 (FIG. 2) of the arc quenching chamber 4.
  • FIG. 4 Another example of an arc quenching chamber is shown in FIG. 4, specifically with a view to the edges of the quenching plates, which face away from the switch contacts of a circuit breaker.
  • quenching plates 25 are used, the incisions of which are arranged symmetrically over the width of quenching plates 25.
  • the mutual offset of the incisions of successive quenching plates by part of the mouth width of the incisions is achieved in that the quenching plates 25 are held between insulating plates 21 and 22, which are provided with grooves 23 and 24 of different depths.
  • extinguishing sheets made of a magnetizable material, for example a soft magnetic steel sheet, are used.
  • a magnetizable material for example a soft magnetic steel sheet
  • B. thickness of the sheets chemical and physical nature of the surface and composition of the material can also be used within the scope of the invention.
