Definitions

  • the invention relates to a flow heater with a heating device and at least one heatable passage for the material.
  • Flow heaters are used to preheat materials, in particular colors, which are subsequently to be applied with a spray or spray device.
  • the heating of the material leads to an improved material application and takes place by means of the flow heater, which is interposed between a feed pump and a spraying or spraying device.
  • a flow heater is known from the prior art, in which the material is passed through passage channels which are formed in a housing which is heated by heating elements of a heating device. It proves to be disadvantageous that the passage channels can be cleaned poorly or only with considerable effort when the material dries up, and that the throughput of the flow heater is often not, also due to a partial solidification of the material in the passage channels meets the requirements.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a material flow heater of the type mentioned, which With a simple structure and inexpensive to manufacture, a high volume of material throughput is possible and can be repaired inexpensively when the material dries up.
  • the object is achieved in that the passage channel is formed in a first component which can be fastened to a second main component provided with the heating device.
  • the flow heater according to the invention is characterized by a number of significant advantages.
  • the subdivision into a first and a second component makes it possible to separate the heating device from the component provided with the passage channel, so that the latter can be cleaned without the expensive and ex-protected heating device being affected.
  • Another advantage of the flow heater according to the invention is that the first component can be replaced in a simple manner, for example in the case of a color change or in an application in which the volume throughput of the material is to be changed. It proves to be particularly advantageous that the second main component provided with the heating device is required only once and can be used for various first components.
  • the first component has a conical recess into which a conical extension of the second component can be inserted.
  • This configuration ensures a particularly good heat transfer from the second component to the first component, since, owing to the conicity, the two components have a large, gap-free contact area.
  • the conical configuration also ensures a secure fit, which proves to be particularly advantageous if the flow heater is used by untrained personnel under rough operating conditions.
  • the heating device is arranged in the region of the conical extension of the second component. It can furthermore prove to be advantageous if the conical approach additionally comprises a control device. In this embodiment, only the area of the second component which is in direct contact with the first component is heated. This leads to a considerable increase in efficiency, since unnecessary heating of components which are not required is avoided. Since the control device is arranged directly in the area to be heated, it is ensured that the material passing through is always preheated evenly to the preselected temperature.
  • the passage channel is formed in a wall surrounding the conical recess, it also being possible for the first component to be cup-shaped.
  • a further advantageous embodiment of the flow heater according to the invention can also be provided by the fact that a plurality of passage channels arranged parallel to one another are provided, which can additionally each be connected to a common material inlet and a material outlet.
  • a plurality of passage channels arranged parallel to one another are provided, which can additionally each be connected to a common material inlet and a material outlet.
  • FIG. 1 is a side view, partly in section, of an exemplary embodiment of the flow heater according to the invention.
  • the flow heater comprises a first component 2, which is provided with helical passage channels 1, and a second main component 3, which comprises a heating device 4.
  • the heating device 4 of the second component 3 is designed in the form of a plurality of heating rods which are arranged in a conical extension 6.
  • the heating rods are designed in the usual way and are connected to a control device (not shown in detail) and an overheating protection, which in turn is connected to a power connection 10.
  • the second component 3 further comprises a control switch 11, shown only schematically.
  • the first component 2 is essentially cup-shaped and has a conical recess 5 which is designed to match the conical extension 6 of the second main component 3. Due to the cup-like configuration, the first component 2 has a wall 7, in which helical passage channels 1 are formed.
  • the passage channel 1 is connected to a material inlet 8 or a material outlet 9. Is in the parallel connection of the through-channels 1 through a flow ⁇ possible even if one of the passageways 1 should be blocked.
  • screws 12 are provided which extend through a recess in the bottom area of the first component 2 and can be screwed into a threaded recess of the conical extension 6 are.
  • a separation of the first and the second component can be facilitated in that the screws are screwed into threaded bores 13 in the bottom of the first component 2, which are only shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1 and are given the reference number 14.
  • the screws 12 can be screwed into the threaded bore 13 after they have been removed and used to loosen the two components.
  • the first component 2 can be cylindrical in terms of its outer dimensions, the passage channels 1 can be in the form of ring channels, but it is also possible to design the first component 2 in terms of its outer dimensions polygonally, for example square.
  • the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown, rather it is possible to vary the dimensioning of the first and the second component over a wide range. For example, it is possible to provide a changed number of passage channels or the passage channels with others To develop cross-sectional relationships.
