Definitions
- the invention relates to a projectile with a splinter jacket, according to the preamble of the claim.
- the object which is to be achieved with the present invention is to create a splinter jacket which can be reliably broken down into fragments of the desired size by the explosive charge.
- the projectile also has the features in the characterizing part of claim 1 in addition to the features of the preamble.
- the ring preferably has cylindrical recesses which extend in the longitudinal direction of the projectile and which are open towards the interior of the ring.
- the ring has a recess which extends in the longitudinal direction, has a triangular cross section and is open towards the inside of the ring.
- the ring is divided into a number of segments which are joined together by sintering.
- This formation of predetermined breaking points on the splinter jacket has the advantage that they can be produced relatively easily and ensure that the splinter jacket is broken down into fragments of the desired size.
- the projectile 1 according to the invention with a splinter jacket 15 is composed of the following parts: - A ground igniter 10 known per se, which has a Amplifier charge 11 ignites an explosive charge 18 inside the floor 1. - A projectile body 12, to the rear end of which the ground igniter 10 is fastened, which contains the aforementioned booster charge 11 and the explosive charge 18 in its interior and a hood 13 is fastened to the front end thereof. - A number of rings 14, which together form the splinter jacket 15 and which are pushed onto a mandrel 16 of the projectile body 12 and are held together by said hood 13. - A guide band 17, which is anchored to the projectile body 12 and transmits the swirl caused by swirl grooves of the weapon barrel to the projectile 1.
- the projectile hood 13 is manufactured, for example, from plastic or light metal. Al-Zn-6MG-Cu 1.5 is particularly suitable as the light metal. This hood 13 is screwed onto the projectile body 12 by means of a thread 19 or fastened to the projectile body 12 in some other way.
- the projectile body 12 is also made of light metal, in particular Al-Zn-6MG-Cu 1.5. It has the thread 19 mentioned at its front end for fastening the projectile hood 13 and at its rear end it has a second thread 20 for fastening the base igniter 10.
- a bore 21 is provided in the mandrel 16 of the projectile body 12 for receiving the explosive charge 18th
- the explosive charge 18 is composed, in the usual way, of a number of cylindrical bodies, which are produced in particular from Hexal W15.
- the base igniter 10 and the booster charge 11 are, as said, known per se and are therefore not described in more detail here.
- the splinter jacket 15 is composed, for example, of six rings 14, the number of rings 14 not being important. These rings 14 are preferably made of sintered metal, especially heavy metal, e.g. from W, NI 4.5 FE. It is essential that these rings 14 of the splinter jacket 15 have predetermined breaking points so that they explode into fragments of the desired size due to the explosive charge 18. These predetermined breaking points can have different shapes. According to FIG. 2, there are cylindrical recesses 22 in the ring 14, which are open towards the inside of the ring and extend in the longitudinal direction. According to FIG. 3, there are recesses 23 in the ring 14 which extend in the longitudinal direction and have a triangular cross section and are open towards the inside of the ring. 4, the ring 14 is divided into a number of segments 24, which are joined together by sintering.
