- the present invention relates to a spray device of the manual precompression pump type usable for atomizing a liquid contained in a container, the liquid being maintained under pressure by a propellant dissolved (freon) or not dissolved (nitrogen) in the liquid, for the purpose of keep the liquid content away from air, and also facilitate priming and ensure faster and more complete filling of the pump chamber, in which a pump chamber can be closed by fitting one inside the other and relative sliding movement of two cylinders: a first cylinder integral with the outlet valve of the pump provided at one of its ends with a circular sealing lip, capable of engaging on, and sliding along the second cylinder which is in communication with the interior of the container.

- the grooves Given the gap which exists at rest between the edges of the cylinders, it is necessary in practice for the grooves to be 1.5 mm long, regardless of the dimensions and volume of the pump. This criterion of 1.5 mm is therefore intrinsically valid, whether the stroke of the pump, usually 7 mm, or 5 or 10 mm. It is a function of the gap at rest between the facing edges of the cylinders, and of the thickness of the sealing lip. However, for all the usual size pumps in perfumery, pharmacy, etc., it appears that a groove length greater than or equal to 1.5 mm is required. This embodiment, of simpler manufacture, however has the disadvantage of reducing the effective stroke of the pump by a distance equal to the height of the grooves 32 or cutouts 25. Alternatively, it would also be possible to provide ribs in extra thickness. But this would cause resistance to be overcome at the start of the piston stroke during its normal use.
- the pump according to the invention can be designed to be used in the inverted position (see FIG. 5).
