Definitions

  • the invention relates to a means of fighting fire and preventing fire by impregnation.
  • Fire-fighting solutions in the form of aqueous solutions which contain one or more surfactants in a concentration of 0.02 to 0.2 percent by volume are known from DE-A1-3100158. According to this known prior art, however, only nonionic surfactants are used as surfactants, specifically those obtained by condensation of ethylene oxide or propylene oxide with various hydroxyl-containing base compounds.
  • nonionic surfactants in certain amounts is done to avoid excessive foaming when extinguishing.
  • alkylarylsulfonates as surface-active agents to aqueous fire-fighting solutions based on a mixture of potassium carbonate and potassium hydrogen carbonate. After a certain time in which a blowing agent pressure has built up from the constituents, agents of this type exhibit an alkaline pH which requires the use of surfactants which are effective in alkaline.
  • FR-A-1338454 From FR-A-1338454 it is known to be neutral to very strong to use weakly basic reacting fire-fighting agents which contain potassium acetate as a main component, optionally in addition to potassium pyrophosphate.
  • Non-ionic surfactants are expressly recommended as surfactants for such agents.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide a sprayable in fine form for fire fighting and fire prevention by impregnation, which has high impregnation and excellent fire extinguishing properties and at the same time is easily biodegradable and non-toxic.
  • an agent for fire fighting and fire prevention by impregnation which is characterized in that it is an aqueous solution containing alkali metal citrate or sulfate up to at most the saturation concentration, which is 0.02 to 0.2 percent by volume alkyl aryl sulfonate and optionally contains a glycol and optionally up to 1 volume percent 30% acetic acid.
  • the concentration of the alkylarylsulfonate is 0.09 percent by volume, and the glycol is 1.2 ethanediol and is present in an amount of 2.1 percent by volume.
  • Alkylarylsulfonates (R-Ar-SO3 ⁇ Me+) have been used mainly in synthetic detergents. They have good emulsifying, degreasing and wetting properties as well as a high chemical resistance. Since they usually contain unbranched radicals R, they are readily biodegradable. Their toxicity to fish is based solely on the fact that they greatly reduce the surface tension of the water.
  • the agent according to the invention can be used advantageously for fire extinguishing or prevention, since the distribution of the individual extinguishing drops at the spray nozzle of the extinguishing device becomes much finer due to the substantial reduction in the surface tension caused by alkylarylsufonate. At the same time, the surface of the extinguishing agent to be sprayed magnified many times over.
  • alkylarylsufonate as a wetting agent to the extinguishing agent, fire-extinguishing substances that are difficult to extinguish, such as straw, hay, bales of wool, finished textiles, powder, etc., which often have a complex, structured surface, are wetted, so to speak, thoroughly, soaked in the air. This makes deletion considerably easier and faster.
  • the proportion of alkylralyl sulfonate in the extinguishing agent is preferably limited to about 0.09 percent by volume.
  • the surface tension can be reduced by approx. 60%, without precipitation of the inert substances occurring even after a long standing time (eg 3 weeks).
  • an aqueous solution with alkali metal citrate and / or sulfates is used up to the saturation concentration.
  • This solution is colorless, clear, neutral smelling and viscous.
  • alkali metal citrate With alkali metal citrate, a prophylactic impregnation of the fire environment and / or a general impregnation of various, highly flammable materials can be achieved, which thereby become largely fire-resistant.
  • the impregnation effect is then further optimized by adding or combining with alkylarylsulfonate.
  • Another basic requirement for fire extinguishing agents is the protection against freezing at temperatures down to at least -30 ° C. Since the extinguishing agent, which essentially consists of alkali metal citrate, has a high degree of saturation due to the concentrated solution of aliphatic salts, it is inherently frost-resistant down to -15 ° C. However, the one according to the invention is preferred Mixture of 1,2-ethanediol added.
  • the use of the agent according to the invention in firefighting leads to a reduction in the extinguishing agent requirement, a widening of the spray mist and a compression of the spray curtain when it emerges from the spray nozzle of the extinguishing device, which above all enables it to fight class A and B fires.
  • the agent according to the invention can in particular contain fires with a strong formation of embers.
  • alkali metal citrate in aqueous solution for the agent according to the invention. This is admixed with 1.2% by volume of ethanediol with 4.2% by volume of distilled water.
  • CH3-COOH As a buffer solution to create a slightly acidic environment with a pH of 6.5, CH3-COOH (30%) is added to 0.2 volume percent along with distilled water to 2.0 volume percent.
  • 0.09 percent by volume of alkyarylsufonate is added as a wetting agent.
