Definitions
- the invention is based on the preamble of the independent claim from DE-C 733 319.
- This known device is an inlet valve for internal combustion engines provided with a fuel injection nozzle.
- This known device is intended for dispensing liquid or powdered fuel, compressed air being additionally added to the respective fuel.
- the fuel injector has a separate connection for each medium. Furthermore, since the fuel injection nozzle is arranged in an inlet valve which is relatively well cooled by the inflowing intake air, a fuel upstream of the outlet opening in the hollow shaft as a storage chamber remains relatively cool.
- DE-A 3 432 663 discloses a fuel injector which can be arranged separately in the combustion chamber of a diesel engine and in which the injection jet has an intrinsic rotation about the jet axis for better mixture formation.
- This intrinsic rotation or the swirl of the injection jet is brought about by channels arranged at an angle to the valve axis, via which the fuel is supplied to the outlet opening from a chamber formed in the valve body when the valve is open.
- the channel is arranged helically on the outer circumference of a cylindrical collar adjacent to the valve cone, the channel being connected to an annular chamber which stores the fuel.
- the annular chamber is delimited on the one hand by the stem of the valve and on the other hand by the bore in the valve body receiving the valve collar.
- the chamber storing the fuel is designed as an annular chamber radially spaced from the valve in the valve body, from which the fuel is supplied to the outlet opening via the tangentially arranged channels when the valve is open.
- a relatively unimpeded flow of heat to the fuel in the respective storage chamber of the device applies to both examples.
- the invention is based on the object of designing the generic device as a fuel injection nozzle arranged separately in the combustion chamber in such a way that the essential part of the fuel stored in the device during operation, in particular cryogenic fuel, can absorb little heat.
- the fuel is supplied via a single connection both to the storage chamber arranged in the hollow shaft and to the gap formed between the valve shaft and the valve body.
- the fuel in this gap With the fuel in this gap, the flow of heat from the valve body to the fuel in the hollow stem of the valve is interrupted.
- the fuel in this gap is in a fuel-carrying connection at the latest when the shaft is moved to control the outlet opening with the adjacent overflow chamber, there is a fuel flow in the bypass, especially when the valve is open.
- This has the advantage that the fuel has only a short dwell time in the gap or in the bypass and thus on the one hand absorbs little heat and on the other hand additionally cools the hollow shaft of the valve from the outside.
- the device according to the invention is preferably used when using a cryogenic, gaseous fuel, in particular hydrogen.
- Claim 3 describes a further embodiment of the device, in which the valve is intermittently controlled via the stem by a separate stroke actuating device.
- the shaft is made hollow up to the coupling with the lifting actuating device according to a partial feature of claim 6.
- a cold cushion is thus implemented between the supply and the actuating device in the hollow shaft of the valve at approximately half the length of the shaft to the storage chamber.
- a device 1 for the dosed supply of cryogenic, gaseous hydrogen into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine comprises, in a valve body 2, a valve 4 guided over a shaft 3 and which intermittently controls an outlet opening 5 arranged in the valve body 2.
- the intermittent control of the valve 4 is effected by a separate stroke actuating device 6, which acts on the stem 3 of the valve 4.
- the stem 3 is guided through a bushing 7 in an end region facing away from the valve 4.
- this can be formed from teflon graphite or teflon bronze.
- the shaft 3 between the valve 4 and the coupling point with the stroke actuating device 6 is hollow.
- the hollow shaft 3 serves in the device 1 as a storage chamber 8 for the cryogenic hydrogen which is to be introduced into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine via the outlet opening 5.
- the socket 7 is arranged adjacent to the valve side in the valve body 2, an inlet chamber 10 connected to a fuel connection 9.
- the inlet chamber 10 is provided with openings 11 in the shaft 3 the storage chamber 8 in a fuel-carrying connection.
- channels 12 are arranged close to the valve 4 in the shaft 3.
- the channels 12 connect the storage chamber 8 with an overflow chamber 13 which is concentric in the valve body 2 with the stem 3.
- the overflow chamber 13 connects directly to the outlet opening 5 or the valve seat 14.
- the channels 12 are arranged obliquely and / or approximately tangentially in the circumferential direction of the shaft 3 in order to achieve an injection jet with swirl.
- the inlet chamber 10 is connected to the overflow chamber 13 in a fuel-carrying connection via a gap 16 formed between the stem 3 and the valve body 2.
- the stem 3 On the side facing away from the socket 7 from the valve 4, the stem 3 is extended beyond the valve body 2 for connection to the separate stroke actuating device 6. As can also be seen from the drawing, the stem 3 is approximately up to the coupling point with the stroke Actuator 6 designed hollow. Furthermore, a connecting flange 17 which is axially spaced apart from the valve body 2 is arranged fuel-tight on the shaft 3 in its end region facing the stroke actuating device 6. In order to achieve a fuel-tight arrangement, an axially flexible bellows 18 is arranged between the connecting flange 17 and the free end of the valve body 2 and is in a fuel-tight connection at both ends with the respective component.
- the stroke actuating device 6 comprises a stroke drive 10 which moves the valve 4 via the shaft 3 in the opening direction and a closing spring 20.
- the closing spring 20 is arranged in a housing 21 which is connected on the one hand to the valve body 2 and on the other hand carries the stroke drive 19 and at one end against the housing 21 supported.
- the closing spring 20 is supported on a radially outwardly directed flange 22 of a hat-shaped bush 23 arranged on the shaft 3 via the connecting flange 17.
- the stroke actuating device 6 forms a structural unit with the valve body 2 via the housing 21.
- the cryogenic hydrogen supplied with pressure via the fuel connection 9 enters the storage space 8 formed in the hollow shaft 3 via openings 11.
- the valve 4 opens, the hydrogen enters the overflow chamber 13 with swirl from the storage chamber 8 via the channels 12 and from there via the outlet opening 5 into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.
- the gap 16 between the stem 3 and the valve body 2 generally causes an interruption of the heat flow to the cryogenic fuel located in the hollow stem 3 or in the storage space 8.
- the gap 16 causes fuel to be transported from the inlet chamber 10 to the overflow chamber 13 with the effect of cooling the shaft 3 over a large area on its outer surface.
