Definitions
- rolls - Belt casting machines with casting rolls, in which the metal melt is poured between two counter-rotating casting rolls - hereinafter referred to as rolls - are known.
- the rollers generally consist of a roller core with pins on both sides for receiving the bearings, a roller shell that fits snugly on the roller core and the components required for the coolant supply and discharge, such as rotating glands, pipes, distributors and seals and various small parts.
- the roll core has cooling grooves on the surfaces of the roll barrel - referred to below as grooves - through which the coolant flows, whereby the heat transferred from the cast material to the roll shell is dissipated (Herrmann, Handbuch der Stranggiessens, 1958 edition, page 21).
- the diameter of the roll core is becoming smaller and smaller, which means that the inside diameter of the roll shells is becoming ever smaller. Regardless of the previous design and arrangement of the grooves, this is associated with further major disadvantages.
- the storage of the roller sleeves which are to be regarded as wearing parts, is very complex, since the inside diameter must correspond to the diameter of the roller core in order to ensure the required fit.
- the present invention is based on the object of avoiding reworking of the roll core and thus always being able to use roll shells with the same inside diameter, which greatly simplifies storage.
- the solution is described in claim 1.
- Fig. 1 shows the known version in section.
- the roll shell 1 is shrunk onto the roll core 3 provided with longitudinal grooves 2.
- the superimposed surfaces of these parts are worn, which means that the roller shell must be removed and replaced after a certain time.
- the outer diameter of the roller core is reduced and the former roller shell can no longer be shrunk on - not to mention that in In many cases, the inner surface of the roll shell would also have to be revised.
- a new roller jacket with a smaller inner diameter must therefore be fitted. As mentioned, this always requires the individual production and / or storage of roll shells, the inside diameter of which has to be individually adapted to the outside diameter of the revised roll cores.
- connection elements for guiding the cooling water in the channels formed by the grooves 2 between the roll core and the roll shell would also have to be adapted to the new diameter, whereby there is also a limit to the reduction of the diameter of the roll core from this side are.
- the roller core 3 is provided with axial grooves 2 rectangular cross-section, in which rods 4 rectangular cross-section are inserted.
- the roll shell 1 is shrunk onto these rods. Coolant channels 5 are formed between the bars.
- a significant advantage of the invention is that the bars can be made of the most suitable and hardened steel, regardless of the material of the roll core, which significantly increases the wear resistance and thus the service life.
- the cross-section of the bars can now be rectangular according to FIGS. 2 and 3, wherein the contact surfaces on the roll shell 1 can be rounded according to its radius, or other shapes can also be used, for example bars 4 'with a trapezoidal cross-section according to FIG. 4, which engage in dovetail grooves 2 ', or rods 4 "with a circular cross section according to FIG. 5, which engage in grooves 2" with a circular section cross section.
- the constant dimension of the roll core has the advantage that connecting elements for guiding the cooling water in the channels 5 can never be adapted. It is therefore also possible, if appropriate, to use somewhat more complex connecting elements.
- These connecting members are preferably designed such that at least one pair of channels is connected in series in such a way that the cooling water can be supplied and removed at one and the same roller end. In this way, the cooling water flow in the roller can be considerably simplified by avoiding feed or return channels that penetrate the entire roller in the axial direction. Calculations also show that the pump output can be significantly reduced without a noticeable loss of cooling effect.
- the invention is not on internally cooled casting rolls limited, ie the arrangement of support rods between the roller core and roller shell can also be useful if the channels formed between the rods are not flowed through by cooling water.
- the main focus is on the fact that the actual roll core never has to be touched and its effective diameter can be brought to the desired size - in particular the original size - simply by changing rods.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 4 und 5 zeigen Ausführungsvarianten.
- Fig. 1 zeigt die bekannte Ausführung im Schnitt.
