Abstract
779,656. Continuous - casting machines. BOHLER & CO. AKT.-GES., GEB. April 23, 1954 [April 27, 1953], No. 11766/54. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group VIII] A roll for withdrawing billets issuing from a continuous casting mould comprises a number of axially-spaced shells, some or all of which are resiliently supported on the roll-shaft, each shell being spaced from the shaft by more than one axially-spaced resilient means. Each shell 5, Fig. 1, is supported by two sets of coilsprings 4 on a core 3 keyed to a driving-shaft 1. Core 3 is triangular in cross-section, springs 4 being mounted on the corners. Alternatively an outer steel shell 5 may surround an inner shell 8, Fig. 3, of heat-conducting material such as copper, spaced from core 3 by rubberblocks 6 with notches 7 for increased resilience. A cooling-agent may be passed through bores in shell 8. A shell without resilient mounting may be arranged close to and on the same shaft as one or more with resilient mounting, the latter shells having slightly the larger diameter.
