Abstract

A grinding medium for ball, rod, or tube mills comprises a lead core having a hard ceramic wearing surface. The specific gravity of the grinding medium may be about 7. The ceramic shell may be formed with two openings to allow the lead to be poured thereinto. The lead used may be in the form of an alloy. In the case of a ball mill with compartments, the balls decrease in size from the feed end.
