Abstract

916,023. Pipe-casting machines. SOC. TECNICA DE HIDRAULICA S.a.r.L. June 9, 1959 [Dec. 20, 1958], No. 19790/59. Class 87(2). A compressing and impressing roll for use in the machine claimed in Specification 889,118 is divided longitudinally into a plurality of independently rotatable coaxial portions A-G, the peripheral speeds of which are controlled only by the frictional reaction of each of the portions on the mass to be moulded. The diameter of each portion differs along the length of the roll but the difference between the maximum and minimum diameters of each portion is less than that between the maximum and minimum diameters of the complete roll. In the roll illustrated, the separate portions are mounted on ball bearings J on the shaft H and thrust rings I of bronze or other suitable metal or alloy are provided between the different portions.
