Abstract

810,791. Antifriction-wheel bearings. MARSHALL RICHARDS MACHINE CO. Ltd. March 11, 1957 [March 12, 1956], No. 7603/56. Class 12 (1). An antifriction-wheel bearing for a rotary member 1 comprises four rollers, the outer two 3 of which are rigidly mounted and the inner two 4 of which are mounted on separate arms 13 and spring-pressed into engagement with the rotary member 1. The arms 13 are pivoted at their outer ends 14, 15 on pins 7 on which the rollers 3 are also mounted, by self-aligning ball bearings 8. The inner ends of the arms 13 are spring-pressed together by a rod 32 and spring 34, the tension of which is adjustable by a nut 35. The pins 7 have eccentric mounting portions 9, 10 whereby adjustment of the wheels 3 may be effected. Additional rollers 39 are spring- pressed into engagement with the rollers 3, 4 in order to prevent tilting of the latter on their selfaligning bearings 8, 23. The rollers 3, 4 comprise annular discs of synthetic resin material clamped between annular metal discs 31. Specification 810,792, [Group XXV], is referred to.
