Definitions

  • the invention relates to a motor vehicle with at least one exterior lamp with a reflector and a lamp glass and with a pivotable protective device arranged in the light exit area of the lamp.
  • the invention further relates to the protective device for an exterior lamp of a motor vehicle itself.
  • a motor vehicle and a protective device of the type mentioned are known from US-A-4 099 760.
  • a collapsible crash protection with lamp grille incorporated into it is provided on the front of a motor vehicle, which can also serve as a storage device in a folded down position.
  • Such a crash protection is, however, relatively massive and hinders access to the headlights.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a motor vehicle and a protective device for an exterior lamp of a motor vehicle, the protective device for the purpose of access to the lamp, e.g. for cleaning the same, from the light exit area of which can be removed and which is simple and easy to set up and can be produced inexpensively and which ensures a sufficient protective effect for the exterior light, without reducing the luminosity of the exterior light in an undesirably strong manner.
  • the protective device can be pivoted about a substantially vertical axis which is arranged outside the light exit area of the exterior lamp and can be locked in the light exit area with a distance adjustment to the lamp glass.
  • the aforementioned object is achieved according to the invention in that the protective device webs and a pivot bearing part for pivoting the protective device about a substantially vertical axis and a locking device for distance-adjusted arrangement of the protective device to the lamp glass of the outdoor lamp having.
  • the motor vehicle according to the invention and the protective device according to the invention are distinguished by a number of considerable advantages.
  • the protective device can be pivoted from an operating position in which it is arranged in front of the lamp into a cleaning position in which it is arranged outside the light exit area of the lamp. In this way, the lamp glass is freely accessible and can be cleaned as required. Since the axis of rotation of the protective device is arranged perpendicular to the central axis of the reflector, the parts of the protective device provided for direct protection of the lamp glass each describe a circular movement about its axis of rotation when the protective device is pivoted. This circular movement takes place in a plane which is parallel to a central plane of the reflector.
  • the protective device can be locked in its operating position at a variable distance from the lamp glass by means of a locking device. By being able to change this distance, it is possible adjust the protective device in an exact position to the lamp glass or to the focal point of the reflector. This exact location is determined by the design so that there is a minimal reduction in the luminosity of the lamp. Since changes in the vehicle, for example as a result of a minor accident, can cause a change in the relative position between the lamp and the axis of rotation of the protective device, it is thus possible to enable an optimal luminosity of the lamp by adjusting the distance.
  • a particularly advantageous embodiment of the motor vehicle according to the invention is given in that the exterior light is designed in the form of a front headlight and that the vertical axis of rotation is arranged on the side of the protective device facing the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and / or that the exterior light is designed in the form of a rear light and that the vertical axis of rotation is arranged on the side of the protective device facing away from the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
  • the two vertical axes of rotation of the protective devices of the main headlights are provided adjacent to one another in the vicinity of the radiator grille, while the two axes of rotation of the protective devices of the rear lights are provided on the rear lateral outer region of the vehicle body.
  • Such an arrangement proves to be particularly advantageous since the protective devices are pivoted back into their operating position when the vehicle is moving forward, if this has been forgotten by the operating personnel, for example after cleaning the lamp glasses.
  • Such an arrangement of the axes of rotation leads to a substantial increase in the operational safety of the motor vehicle, since it is impossible for one of the protective devices to pivot during operation of the vehicle in such a way that it protrudes from the circumference of the body and endangers other road users.
  • a protective device that is not locked in the operating position is thus immediately pivoted into its operating position either by the air resistance which occurs when driving or by touching an obstacle, this process being able to be carried out in such a way that a locking device, which will be described below, snaps into place and the protective device is locked in its proper position.
  • the protective device is advantageously arranged essentially in a plane perpendicular to the central axis of the reflector. In this way, optimal protection for the lamp glass is ensured and at the same time it is ensured that in the operating position of the protective device, in which it is arranged in this vertical plane, a uniformly minimal reduction in the luminosity occurs over the entire surface of the lamp glass.
  • the protective device is in the form of a plurality of webs which are parallel to one another and which are advantageously arranged perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the protective device.
  • the webs advantageously have a rectangular cross-section, the expansion of the webs in the direction of the light exit being able to be substantially greater than their dimensioning perpendicular to the light exit surface.
  • the webs can thus be made of rod material, the width of this rod material, because of the arrangement according to the invention of the axis of rotation of the protective device, causes only a minimal weakening of the luminosity even when the protective device is not pivoted properly into its operating position. Thus, the operational safety of the motor vehicle is not impaired even if the distance between the protective device and the lamp glass is not optimally adjusted.
  • the plurality of webs of the protective device can be attached to a frame.
  • This frame can be dimensioned much larger than the webs, so that additional protection of the lamp is guaranteed. It is also possible to combine this frame with a front or rear protective bar of the motor vehicle.
  • the webs can be arranged horizontally and / or vertically to the motor vehicle body.
  • the webs are preferably arranged perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the protective device, so that the webs preferably run horizontally in the case of a vertical axis of rotation.
  • the central web of the protective device is approximately 2 to 5 mm below the lower light edge of the low beam. Because of the design there is a somewhat greater distance from the next higher web, there is no reduction in the luminosity of the lamp in the area of the lower light edge of the low beam.
  • the protective device 1 shows a perspective view of the left front main light of a motor vehicle and the left front direction indicator.
  • An axis of rotation 5 is provided on the side of the body, about which a protective device 1 can be pivoted.
  • the protective device 1 has a plurality of webs 7, which are arranged horizontally in front of the headlight 12 and the direction indicator 13 in the operating position of the protective device 1 shown.
  • the webs 7 have a rectangular cross section, their edges pointing forward and to the side in the direction of travel being rounded.
  • the rounding preferably has a radius of 2.5 mm, so that each web 7 has a height of 5 mm in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • the depth of the web is 20 mm in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • the bridges are on their ends are each connected to a rod 14, 15.
  • the rod 14 is fastened to the vehicle body so as to be pivotable about the axis of rotation 5.
  • the pivoting movement of the rod 14 can be made possible, for example, by means of a commercially available hinge or the like.
  • Part of a locking device 10, not shown in detail, is arranged on the rod 15, the other part of which is fastened to the body of the motor vehicle. With the help of the locking device, it is possible to adjust the distance of the protective device or the individual webs from the lamp glass 6 or from the headlight 12.
  • the locking device 10 is designed so that the protective device can be pivoted either continuously or in individual steps to adjust the distance.
  • the webs 7 are designed such that they are located in the light exit region of the main headlight 12 essentially in a plane perpendicular to the central axis 4 of the main headlight 12 when the protective device is in its operating position.
  • the webs 7 are bent in the lateral area of the motor vehicle to ensure adequate protection of the direction indicator 13.
  • the shape of the webs in the area of the direction indicator depends on its design and on the circumstances of the motor vehicle.
  • spacer elements 9 are provided which connect the webs 7 to one another and increase the stability of the protective device 1.
  • Figure 2 shows a further embodiment, which is constructed analogously to the embodiment of FIG. 1.
  • the axis of rotation 5 of the protective device 1 runs vertically.
  • the protective device 1 has, as shown in FIG. 1, horizontal webs 7 and additionally vertical webs 7.
  • the webs can, as shown in Fig. 1, be dimensioned. However, it is also possible to provide a round cross section for the webs instead of a rectangular cross section.
  • FIG. 3 shows a front view of another embodiment.
  • the headlight 12 shown is in this case the right front headlight, the direction indicator 13 is the right front direction indicator.
  • the webs are also arranged horizontally and pivotable about the vertical axis of rotation 5.
  • the illustration of the locking device 10 has been omitted for the sake of simplicity.
  • the webs 7 and the rod 14 which can be pivoted about the axis of rotation 5 are mounted in a frame 8.
  • FIG. 4 which shows a top view of the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 3, the webs 7 are arranged in the area of the light exit opening 2 of the main headlight 12 in a plane perpendicular to the central axis 4.
  • the distance of the webs to the lamp glass 6 or to the focal point of the reflector 3 can be changed by a pivoting movement about the axis of rotation 5.
  • the frame 8 together with the webs 7 can be designed to be pivotable about the axis of rotation 5.
  • the protective device according to the invention can also be designed such that the axis of rotation 5 does not serve to pivot the protective device itself but rather to pivot a front protective bracket for the motor vehicle, to which the webs of the protective device are attached.
  • the locking device 10 for adjusting the distance of the webs 7 from the lamp glass 6 can be designed such that after the basic setting has been carried out, the protective device always snaps into the same position in its operating position. Checking the correct distance between the webs 7 and the lamp glass 6 can e.g. done by means of an apprenticeship.
  • FIG. 5 shows a plan view of a motor vehicle which has two main headlights 12, two rear lights 23 and a direction indicator 13 at each corner.
  • the main headlights, the direction indicators and the rear lights can each be protected by a protective device 1.
  • the protective devices 1 and their axes of rotation 5 are arranged such that the axes of rotation of the protective devices 1 protecting the main headlights 12 are arranged vertically on the side of the protective device 1 which faces the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
  • the axes of rotation 5 of the rear protective devices 1 protecting the rear lights are arranged such that they are arranged on the side of the respective protective device facing away from the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
  • the protective devices 1 are shown in their operating position in the left half of FIG. 6.
  • the arrangement of the axes of rotation 5 ensures that, in the event in which the operator has forgotten to pivot the protective devices 1 back into their operating position before the start of the journey or after the cleaning of the lamp glasses, this pivoting back process by the wind or by contact with an obstacle done automatically. This ensures that there are no protruding parts from the vehicle body that could endanger other road users, such as pedestrians.
  • Fig. 6 shows a section through an embodiment of the locking device according to the invention.
  • the locking device 10 comprises a tab 17 and a block 18.
  • the tab 17 is preferably designed with a rectangular cross section and has a recess 19 in its front end region.
  • the block 18 is equipped with a recess 20, which is chosen in its dimensions so that the tab 17 can be inserted into this recess 20.
  • the block 18 also has an element 21 which is pivotally mounted on the block 18.
  • the element 21 is provided with a projection 24 which can be brought into positive engagement with the recess 19 of the tab 17. In the position shown in FIG. 6, this prevents the tab 17 from being removable from the block 18.
  • the element 21 is prestressed by means of an elastic component 22 such that the projection 24 remains in engagement with the recess 19.
  • the locking device 10 thus enables a simple latching of the protective device 1 with the vehicle body by introducing the tab 17 into the block 18.
  • either the tab 17 or the block 18 can be attached to the body or to the protective device 1.
  • the application of the protective device according to the invention is not restricted to the application examples shown for main headlights and front direction indicators. Rather, it is possible to provide each exterior lamp of a motor vehicle with such a protective device. Separate individual protective devices can also be provided for a headlight and an associated direction indicator.
