Definitions
- the invention relates to seat and / or backrest cushions made of a first foam, which is made of an open-pore polyurethane foam with a certain indentation hardness and density, in which, transverse to the seat direction, at least one foam body to form a foam stiffener that gives the cushion higher indentation hardness than that of the first foam gives, is foamed and the foam body itself form the stiffeners.
- a foam cushion which consists of a foamed foam body, in which the foam process is carried out so that the foam has a denser and firmer consistency at the boundary layer with the foam body and thus forms a stiffening.
- the foam body is preferably traversed by vertical channels, in which the boundary layer forms rib-like during the foaming process.
- the disadvantage here is that the increased density of the boundary layer leads to an increase in the weight of the cushion.
- the dense, skin-like boundary layer is closed-pore, so that the cushion has increased flammability.
- Closed-pore foam is also known, which is produced when the foam is set completely normally. This has a much higher indentation hardness than open-cell foam and it is only slightly compressible. It is therefore of limited use for upholstery, even if it is foamed to a much lower specific weight compared to the open-cell foam.
- panels made of open-pore melamine foam which have a high indentation hardness with a relatively low density. This material is not suitable for foaming in molds and it is too weak to be used directly for upholstery.
- the foam bodies consist of a second foam, namely closed-pore polyurethane foam or open-pore melamine foam or the like, the density of which is lower and the indentation hardness higher than that of the first foam.
- the stiffeners made of harder foam are lighter but less compressible. This results in an increased so-called comfort factor in accordance with the known test methods.
- the insoles are arranged in such a way that they ergonomically support the neck, lumbar, spine and thigh support areas or at least prevent people from sinking completely, which leads to unpleasant congestion in the veins and lymph vessels, especially when sitting for long periods.
- Such upholstery can be produced using known foam technology, with either foam bodies of relatively higher indentation hardness cut into plates or prisms being inserted into the mold before the upholstery is foamed, or into a milled upholstery body with relatively lower indentation hardness with corresponding cavities, subsequently harder material, preferably low density, which is not later subjected to a whaling process, is foamed. With a suitable shape of the cavities, a special shape for foaming the stiffeners can be omitted.
- open-pore polyurethane foam For the foam of relatively low indentation hardness, the use of open-pore polyurethane foam is recommended, and closed-pore polyurethane foam or an open-pore melamine foam is expediently used as the harder foam.
- closed-pore polyurethane foam or an open-pore melamine foam is expediently used as the harder foam.
- the latter has the advantage that the cushion shows extremely low flammability.
- the indentation hardness is to be adapted to the use in each case, and the cross-sectional proportion and the density of the stiffening body are determined from the desired comfort factor, which is derived from the progressive increase in the indentation hardness, or from minimizing weight.
- the indentation hardness of the stiffening body is 400 N and the surrounding foam is at most 200 N; it is at least twice as hard with good dimensions.
- the density of the stiffening body is at most only half as large as that of the rest of the foam.
- FIGS. 1 to 6 show various advantageous configurations of upholstery and molds for their production using the foaming process.
- an armrest cushion 12 is shown in section, the back of which is stiffened by a plate 133 made of open-cell foam, the thickness of which corresponds to about a quarter of the backrest thickness D12.
- a prism-shaped stiffening body 134 is embedded on the back, which fills approximately one third of the cross section of the lower backrest region, which extends to the lower edge of the seat cushion 11, and thus stiffens against the lumbar region being pressed down.
- Fig. 3 it is shown in a rear view that the plate 133 and the stiffening body 134 each from an edge 123, 123 '; 124, 124 ', which has the multiple thickness of the plate 133, is surrounded on all sides, as a result of which the cushion on the side surfaces and from above is pleasantly soft and elastic.
- a plate 133 (FIG. 1a) with a wave or knob structure 133a can advantageously also be used to produce a good connection. This also results in a steadily progressive increase in the cushion resistance with increasing compression of the cushion.
- FIG. 1 also shows a cross section of a seat cushion which is stabilized in the support areas of the spine and the legs by stiffening bodies 131, 132.
- the depth of the stiffening bodies corresponds to more than half of the padding thickness, so that the remaining softly padded area has sufficient elasticity, corresponding to a pleasant padding.
- the stiffening bodies are each surrounded by lateral areas 114, 114 ', 115, 115' (FIG. 2) and a front area 111 and rear area 112, which is encapsulated with soft open-cell foam, which is pleasant when touched, bumped or leaned against.
- the stiffening body 132 for supporting the spine is foamed in slightly below the seat surface, as a result of which a compromise between stiffness and cushioning effect is achieved.
- FIGS. 4 and 5 show cross sections through molds for foaming a seat or armrest cushion in the filled, foamed state.
- the stiffeners 134, 135, 136 are attached to pins 43, 44; 48, 49a, b, c, kept in the shape.
- the foam material fills all the free spaces by flowing around the stiffeners laterally and / or passing through punched-outs or recesses.
- the plates 135, 136 are bent in a U-shape at the ends in the example shown, whereby the desired stiffening of the spine and thigh support or neck and lumbar areas is achieved and a spring-elastic effect of the stiffer insert is produced, which is known for a U-arch corresponds to a constant force curve with increasing deformation and receives a slightly increasing characteristic due to the surrounding open-pore material.
- a somewhat softer upholstery is obtained if the plate is placed on the underside of the seat cushion 11 or the back of the backrest cushion 12 and the U-bends are mounted in the opposite direction. If cushions are used that are symmetrical from bottom to top or from back to front, they can be turned, depending on the desired elasticity of the seat or armrest.
- FIG. 6 shows an armrest cushion of the same basic structure in section, but which is produced in a different way and thereby provides further design freedom for achieving optimal ergonomics.
- the open-pore upholstery part is produced in a first foaming process.
- a space for the stiffening is cut out according to the shape, which can be optimally designed according to needs, that is, in several directions, for. B. for a lumbar reinforcement and additionally for longitudinal ribs in the backrest (not shown) is shaped to run.
- This cavity or several are foamed with closed-cell foam after the milling and tempering of the upholstery part produced first; it therefore hardens in a form suitable for the body. If the cavity is only open on one side, as shown, when the layer is open at the top, the foam can be introduced without any further surrounding shape and foam and harden in a tempering space, which makes special tools unnecessary.
- the setting of the density of the stiffeners can also be chosen to be higher and the cross-section smaller, which results in further options for designing the upholstery characteristic.
- the outer contours can take up Menden seat frame can be adapted accordingly and single or multiple seats or a piece of armchair / seat cushion in the specified manner and with the advantageous properties shown.
- the density of the open-pored material can be reduced compared to the known upholstery, which results in additional material and weight savings.
- a further advantageous embodiment results from the provision of preferably undercut recesses 138, 138 'on the rear or underside of the upholstery, specifically in the closed-pore material, which are used for releasably fastening the upholstery to profile strips in the frame. They simply replace the usual Velcro straps for this purpose. The strength of the material provides the necessary support. Instead of the recesses, protruding ribs can also be provided, which engage in corresponding recesses in the frame.

Description
-
- Fig. 1 zeigt einen senkrechten Querschnitt durch ein Sitz- und Lehnpolster ;
- Fig. 1a zeigt ein Detail einer speziellen Ausführung ;
- Fig. 2 zeigt eine Draufsicht eines Sitzpolsters nach Fig. 1 ;
- Fig. 3 zeigt eine Rückansicht eines Lehnpolsters nach Fig. 2 ;
- Fig. 4 zeigt einen senkrechten Schnitt durch eine Form mit einem Sitzpolster ;
- Fig. 5 zeigt einen senkrechten Schnitt durch eine Form mit einem Lehnpolster ;
