  • Workholders 44,46 are simply positioned in the T-slot provided in cross slide 41 to grip the sides of the workpiece 21 with a suitable clearance gap between the surface 55, provided adjacent with gripper jaw 54, and the worksheet.
  • the purpose of a clearance gap between the worksheet 21 and the side grippers 54 of each workholders is to allow for repositioning of the carriage to grab the worksheet in a different location. This regripping process is necessary when punching a sheet which is longer than the available Y-axis travel of carriage 42. The sheet will be initially punched for the amount of Y-axis travel and then the sheet will be clamped to the table by means of clamping or repositioning cylinders.
  • the workholder jaws are then opened and the carriage 42 and supported grippers 44, 46 moved to a new position and the workholder jaws are reclosed and the repositioning clamps released.
  • Punch press 20 is then ready to punch holes in a new area of the overlength worksheet.
  • the purpose of the clearance gap between the worksheet 21 and surfaces 55 is to compensate for the edges of a worksheet which may not be perfectly straight and square. If workholders 44 and 46 were set up with no gap between surface 55 and the sheet was to be repositioned workholders 44 and 46 could very well scuff and bind against the worksheet when an attempt was made to reposition the carriage to a new location.
  • FIG. 15 there is shown a carriage 42 and locator pin arrangement for supporting two worksheets on punch press 20.
  • a first worksheet is loaded from the side onto punch press 20. This first worksheet is properly aligned by the pair of grippers 44, 46 and locator pin 143.
  • Locator pin 143 which is retractable, is then lowered and a second worksheet is positioned on punch press 20.
  • a second set of grippers 44, 46 are added to cross slide 41.
  • the second set of grippers 44, 46 are positioned in the T-shaped opening of cross slide 41.
  • the second set of grippers 44, 46 and locator pin 140 are used to properly align the second worksheet. Locator pin 140 is then lowered and the two worksheets are moved into position to be punched.
  • Various other arrangements of locator pins and grippers can be provided for gripping two worksheets.
  • Gripper 80 includes only one movable gripper jaw 82 which is angled and extended for gripping either the end or side of a work sheet.
  • Gripper 80 includes a bracket 90 which can be attached to the T-slot 130 in cross slide 41 in the same fashion as described above for grippers 44, 46.
  • An operating cylinder 92 is supported from bracket 90 and is used for positioning a pivot arm 100.
  • Pivot arm 100 is supported for pivotal movement about a pivot support pin 102.
  • Gripper jaw 82 is formed at the end of a pivot link 106. Pivot link 106 is pivotable about a support pin 103 for moving gripper jaw 82 into engagement with a worksheet 21.
  • Gripper 80 includes a front surface 83 which is aligned with the end of a workpiece when gripping the workpiece on the end.
  • Gripper 80 also includes a side surface 85 which is spaced from the side of a workpiece when gripping a workpiece on a side. The gap is left between surface 85 and the workpiece 21 for the reasons given above for side gripping by grippers 44, 46.
  • Gripping jaw 82 extends beyond surfaces 83, 85 for gripping either a side or end of a workpiece.
  • Gripper 80 can grip either the end or side of a worksheet with virtually the entire contact length of gripper jaw 82 in engagement with the worksheet.
  • a second gripper similar to gripper 80 but formed for gripping an opposite side of the sheet metal workpiece is provided on cross slide 41 supported from carriage 42. These two grippers work in conjunction for gripping either the end or opposite sides of a workpiece.

Claims (12)

1. Arbeitsblechpositioniervorrichtung mit einem Arbeitsblechstütztisch (40), einem Arbeitsblechpositioniermechanismus für eine Zweiachsenpositionierung eines Arbeitsbleches (21) auf dem Arbeitsblechstütztisch, gekennzeichnet durch
ein Paar Greifer (44, 46, 80), die sich von dem Arbeitsblechpositioniermechanismus aus erstrekken und zum Ergreifen entweder des Endes eines Arbeitsbleches (21), das quer über die Vorderseite der Greifer verläuft, oder der Seiten eines Arbeitsbleches, die zwischen den Greifern (44, 46, 80) verlaufen, ausgebildet sind.
2. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet durch
ein erstes Paar Greifbacken (56), die sich von dem vorderen Ende eines jeden Greifers (44, 46) aus zum Ergreifen des Endes eines Arbeitsbleches (21) erstrecken; und
ein zweites Paar Greifbacken (54), die sich von der Seite eines jeden Greifers (44, 46) aus zum Ergreifen der Seite eines Arbeitsbleches (21) erstrecken.
3. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein jeder der beiden Greifer (80) ein Paar Werkstückgreifbacken (82) beinhaltet, die sich in einem Winkel von ihm aus zum Ergreifen entweder des Endes oder der Seiten eines Arbeitsbleches (21) erstrecken.
4. Vorrichtung nach irgendeinem vorhergehenden Anspruch, gekennzeichnet durch eine vordere Ausrichtfläche (57, 83) an jedem der Greifer (44, 46, 80) zum Ausrichten des Endes eines Arbeitsbleches (21), wenn das Ende des Arbeitsbleches ergriffen wird.
5. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4 under ferner mit
einer Ausrichteinrichtung, die von einer eingefahrenen Stellung unter dem Arbeitstisch (40) in eine hochgefahrene Stellung über dem Arbeitstisch zum Einsatz in Verbindung mit der Ausrichtfläche zum Ausrichten eines Arbeitsbleches (21) bewegbar ist, das an seinen Enden zu ergreifen ist.
6. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4 oder Anspruch 5 und ferner mit
einer Ausrichteinrichtung, die von einer eingefahrenen Stellung unter dem Arbeitstisch (40) in eine hochgefahrene Stellung über dem Arbeitstisch zum Ausrichten eines Arbeitsbleches (21) bewegbar ist, das an seinen Seiten zu ergreifen ist.
7. Vorrichtung nach irgendeinem der Ansprüche 4 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Ausrichteinrichtung Ausrichtstifte (140, 142, 144) umfaßt.
8. Vorrichtung nach irgendeinem der Ansprüche 4 bis 7, gekennzeichnet durch
eine zweite Fläche (85), die an der Seite eines jeden Greifers gebildet ist;
jeder Greifer hat ein Paar Elemente (82), die sich von ihm aus über die vordere Ausrichtfläche und die zweite Fläche hinaus erstrecken, um ein Arbeitsblech (21) zu ergreifen, das entweder mit der vorderen Ausrichtfläche fluchtet oder in unmittelbarer Nähe zu der zweiten Fläche ist.
9. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 8, wobei jeder Greifer (80) ein Greifelement (82) umfaßt, das sich in einem Winkel zu der vorderen und der zweiten Fläche erstreckt.
10. Vorrichtung nach irgendeinem vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei der Arbeitsblechpositioniermechanismus einen Hauptschlitten (42), der sich quer über den Tisch (40) erstreckt und längs des Tisches bewegbar ist, und
einen Querschlitten (41) aufweist, der auf dem Hauptschlitten abgestützt und längs des Hauptschlittens bewegbar ist,
wobei die beiden Blechgreifer (44, 46) sich von dem Querschlitten aus erstrecken und von ihm abgestützt werden,
jeder der beiden Greifer zum Ergreifen einer Seite des Arbeitsbleches (21), die senkrecht zu dem Hauptschlitten verläuft, oder zum Ergreifen eines Endes des Arbeitsbleches, das parallel zu dem Hauptschlitten verläuft, ausgebildet ist.
11. Vorrichtung nach irgendeinem vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei jeder der beiden Greifer (44, 46, 80)
einen Haupthebel (60, 100),
einen Stellantrieb (52, 92) zum Positionieren des Haupthebels,
mindestens einen zweiten Hebel (64, 66, 106) aufweist, der eine Greifbacke (54, 56, 82) hat, die an seinem einen Ende gebildet ist und in Ansprechung auf das Positionieren des Haupthebels bewegbar ist.
12. Stanzpresse mit einem Stanzkopf (33, 34) und einer Arbeitsblechpositioniervorrichtung nach irgendeinem vorhergehenden Anspruch zum Positionieren eines Arbeitsbleches (21) bezüglich des Stanzkopfes.
