Definitions

  • the invention relates to an insect screen for building openings, in particular windows, with a flexible network made of weatherproof, rot-proof material that can be moved up and down in the manner of a blind in the building opening, and between a reciprocating fold-forming position in which the network the building opening is at least partially exposed, and an extended position, in which the network closes the building opening, can be moved up and down, and with a horizontal drop bar attached to the network.
  • the invention further relates to a method for producing such an insect screen.
  • FR-A-1 499 994 has disclosed an insect screen which can be lowered like a curtain in front of the building opening. To achieve a satisfactory seal against insects, the side edges of the curtain would have to be pressed tightly against the front wall of the building after it had been lowered and held in this position. This requires separate fasteners that are difficult to operate and are not always reliable.
  • the invention is now based on an insect screen of the type described at the outset, such as has become known from DE-C-147120, and has as its object to avoid the disadvantages of the known constructions described above and to provide an insect screen for building openings with which the building opening is sealed easily and reliably with little effort, this insect screen can be used universally.
  • the invention solves this problem in that the width of the undeformed network is greater than the clear width of the building opening, that the network is fixed in a harmonious manner by means of horizontal folded edges and that the side edges of the network are bent relative to the central part of the network between them and to the sections of the side faces of the building opening lying in the network plane and running transversely to the network plane resiliently lie, the drop bar being shorter than the width of the network.
  • the flexible network thanks to its harmonica-like fixed fold, allows the network to rub or rub against the side surfaces of the building opening with its side edges during up and down movement, without the up and down movement of the network when released or when Closure of the building opening excessive force is necessary.
  • the building opening In the closed position of the blind-like insect screen, the building opening is completely sealed without losing its air and light permeability.
  • the effort for the insect protection according to the invention is approximately the same as that of an ordinary blind and is therefore considerably less than in the known constructions described at the beginning.
  • the invention can be used for any building opening, as long as only the sections of the building opening side surfaces interacting with the side edges of the network are reasonably flat.
  • the flexible net adapts itself to slight bumps.
  • the insect protection according to the invention is independent of the adherence to precise dimensional tolerances, since within certain limits it does not matter if the side edges of the net are more or less bent on the sections of the seal when the net is moved up or down Side faces of the building opening, e.g. B. on the inner surfaces of the floor, as long as only the condition is met that the network side edge grazes on the section of the side surface of the building opening that cooperates with it and thus ensures the sealing effect. It is therefore sufficient to keep a certain standard width of the network to be used in stock for a certain width range of building openings to be closed, as a result of which expensive custom-made products can generally be avoided.
  • the drop bar favors the downward movement of the net due to its weight, so that no tension has to be exerted on the lower edge of the net during its downward movement.
  • the drop bar which is shorter than the net width, does not hinder the side net edges in their sealing effect and does not rub against the side edges of the floor surfaces or the like, but rather is guided approximately centrally between these two floor surfaces or the like by the two net side edges.
  • the harmonica-like fixation of the network has the consequence that it takes up very little space when folded, that is to say in the release position of the building opening, so that in this position the passage of light or air passes through the opening of the building is not or only slightly affected.
  • the fixation of the net in zigzag folds also ensures that the zigzag-like course of the net is retained even when the net is in use, e.g. B. by driving rain, gets wet.
  • the up and down movement of the network can be done in the manner of a blind.
  • blinds such as pull cords, belts, rolls with endless cords, crank drives, electric drives, etc.
  • These drive means are preferably only used for the pulling-up movement of the net, whereas the lowering by the weight of the drop bar is effected.
  • a particularly inexpensive embodiment exists within the scope of the invention if the middle part of the net has at least two spaced-apart openings between the two bent side edges and between two adjacent folded edges, through which pull cords are guided, which are on the lower edge of the net the drop bar are attached. These openings are useful from long slots, for. B.
  • the bottom section of the net is adjustable, for example by slotted perforated disks pushed onto the pull cords and held by a knot of the same , which hold several of the fixed folding edges of the net together, adjustable to the required height of the building opening.
  • This also has the advantage that the total length of the network can be adapted to the existing height of the building opening, so that the not fully extended, zigzag folded bottom power supply remains attached to the drop bar by means of the boundary formed by the perforated disks.
  • the construction can also be adapted to relatively widely varying heights of the building opening as required.
  • the slotted perforated disks used as a limitation can be designed in the manner of slotted washers.
  • a plastic-coated glass fiber fabric is particularly suitable as the net material.
  • the fixed folded edges can be introduced without difficulty to form the harmonica-like shape of the net.
  • the zigzag character of the network is maintained for a practically unlimited time, even if the network is arranged on the outside of the building and is therefore constantly exposed to rain and other weather influences.
  • the inventive method for producing the insect screen according to the invention consists in that the network consisting in particular of glass fibers with a substance fixing the net mesh, for. B. liquid plastic based on vinyl, coated and then fixed under heat and steam in zigzag folds.
  • the coating of the mesh mesh prevents the mesh mesh from enlarging and insects from being able to slip through, particularly at the folded edges.
  • Fig. 1 shows the by the Insect protection according to the invention, closed building opening in front view.
  • Fig. 2 is a section along the line 11-11 on a larger scale.
  • Fig. 3 is a section along the line 111-111 of Fig. 2.
  • Fig. 4 shows the upper edge of the building opening at the beginning of the downward movement of the network from its open position to the closed position.
  • Fig. 5 also shows the upper edge of the building opening, but towards the end of the elevator movement of the network. 6 shows a side view of a variant relating to the fixation of the lower edge of the net.
  • a building opening is to be closed insect-tight and yet permeable to light and air.
  • the building opening has a rectangular cross section which is delimited by the stick lights or wall lights which are delimited by two side surfaces 1, the lintel 2 and the parapet 3.
  • a head rail 4 is fastened to the lintel 2 or embedded in the lintel and carries a flexible network 5 made of weatherproof, rot-proof material, in particular of a glass fiber fabric.
  • This net 5 is placed in zigzag folds, the fold edges 6 of which are at a distance of about 40 mm from each other in the illustrated embodiment. In its extended position (FIG. 1), this network closes the building opening tightly.
  • the width B (FIG.
  • the net 5 grinds or grazes on the side faces 1 and lies tightly against these side faces 1, so that there is absolute tightness against flying insects.
  • the net 5 is connected to a drop bar 7, which can be attached to the parapet 3, for. B. by means of snaps, push buttons 8 or the like. This also avoids that the network 5, z. B. by the pressure of incoming wind or drafts, can move out of the building opening, whereby the tightness mentioned would be lost.
  • the net 5 can be in the building opening or within the window frame between a zigzag folded position (FIGS. 4 to 5), in which the net at least partially opens the building opening, and an extended position (FIG. 1), in which the net 5 closes the building opening, are moved back and forth, for which purpose two or more pull cords 9 are provided in the region of the side edges of the network 5, the lower ends of which are fastened to the drop bar 7 and which are connected at the top by the head rail 4 in a manner known per se common traction element 10 (Fig. 4, 5) are guided, which can be locked in any known manner in the drawn, zigzag folded position of the network 5.
  • the net 5 can be lowered due to its own weight and the influence of the weight of the drop bar 7 in the direction of arrow 12 (FIG. 4), the lateral longitudinal edges 11 of the net 5 bending upwards as a result of the frictional adhesion on the side surfaces 1 (Fig. 4), which is made possible by the elastic flexibility of the net 5.
  • the lateral longitudinal edges 11 of the net 5 bend downward and grind on the side faces 1.
  • the fall bar 7 is shorter than the clear width b of the building opening, which also enables the network to be adapted to the required width of the building opening.
  • These openings 14 are each provided in the number corresponding to the number of pull cords 9 between each two adjacent folding edges 6 of the net 5 and dimensioned such that the pull cords 9 pass through as closely as possible so that insects cannot pass through the remaining gap.
  • the zigzag folded net 5 like a blind should also be designed so that it can be used universally for the widest possible height range of the building opening.
  • the excess length of the net 5 formed by the lower part 15 (FIG. 6) in the extended position of the net 5 is prevented from unfolding by the fact that this net part 15 is held on the drop bar 7 by limitations. These limits are formed by slotted perforated disks 16 which are pushed onto the pull cords 9 and held by knots 17 of the pull cords 9.
  • the net 5 consists of a glass fiber fabric that has fixed folded edges.
  • the glass fiber network is coated with a substance that fixes the mesh, in particular liquid vinyl plastic, and then fixed like a pleat under the action of heat and steam.
