- the present invention relates to a device for transporting heavy cylindrical objects to the workshop, comprising a carriage guided along a pit dug in the ground.
- FR-A-2 241 475 and FR-A-2 297 176 describe such devices.
- Transport devices of this type are known in which the platform of the carriage is at ground level. These have the disadvantage that the pit constitutes an obstacle to crossing by wheeled transport vehicles. Furthermore, if the platform is not provided with means for blocking the cylindrical objects to be transported, these can move laterally out of the platform. This danger can only be reduced by limiting the travel speed of the carriage to a low value. If, on the other hand, the platform is provided with means for blocking cylindrical objects, such as an imprint or retaining cleats, there is a threshold to be crossed for loading and for unloading, which may require significant effort. for the workers in charge of the operation, and the object risks escaping from the side opposite to that by which it is brought onto the platform of the trolley.
- the carriage has in section the general shape of a T, the vertical shaft of which engages in a narrow groove dug in the ground, and the upper face has a central recess for retaining the objects to be transported. It is then pulled by a chain arranged in the guide groove.
