Definitions

  • the invention relates to an electric incandescent lamp and a method for its production.
  • the current leads of this lamp are guided through funnel-shaped bores in the base insulation and through openings of base contacts provided with a raised edge and welded to the base contacts with their openings tightly sealed.
  • nickel wires are first welded to the molybdenum power supply lines, for example a two-filament halogen incandescent lamp, which are passed through funnel-shaped bores in the base insulation and through the openings in base contacts and then soldered to the base contacts made of nickel-plated brass. The solder is used to close the socket contact openings.
  • molybdenum power supply lines for example a two-filament halogen incandescent lamp
  • This raised edge is shaped so that the distance between the outer periphery of the power supply and the inner periphery of the edge of the socket contact opening is not too large, but also not too small. If the distance were too large, the molten material of the power supply could fall through the base contact opening into the interior of the lamp base without connecting to the raised edge and lead to an incorrect mechanical or electrical connection inside the base. In the event that the above If the distance were too small, the raised edge would not only be melted slightly as desired to just connect to the melt of the power supply, but so strongly that it decomposes thermally and gasses, with the gas formed in the metal cam the solidified melt of the power supply is enclosed and thus does not ensure good electrical contact between the power supply and the base contact.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an electric incandescent lamp and a method for its production, the power supplies of the lamp are connected to the base contacts by closing the base contact openings so that the closure of the base contact opening does not evaporate during operation of the lamp and that it also it is not necessary to design the raised edge of the socket contact opening as specifically as is described in US Pat. No. 3,897,124.
  • the closure of the socket contact openings is formed by molten socket contact material.
  • the raised edge of the openings is melted down as the lamp power leads are welded to the base contacts. This makes it possible to easily produce the raised edge.
  • a pre-punched hole is widened in the base contacts, as a result of which a collar, the raised edge, is produced. This edge must contain so much material that, when molten, it closes the socket contact opening completely tightly when the power supply is inserted. Therefore, the diameter of the pre-punched hole is proportional to the diameter of the power supply to the lamp.
  • the tight closure of the base contact openings serves to ensure that no moisture penetrates through the lamp base into the reflector space, for example of a motor vehicle headlight, and destroys the mirror.
  • base contacts made of a material which combine with molybdenum during welding.
  • the base contacts preferably consist of chromium-containing or other corrosion-resistant steel or of a nickel alloy. These materials can be easily combined with each other by tungsten inert gas welding with argon as protective gas with a process time of ⁇ 0.5 sec. This results in a tight seal on the base contact openings, which is temperature and corrosion resistant, also against stress corrosion, since the materials used in the voltage series lie close together.
  • the welded connection gives a very good hold, so that the vibration between the base contact and the lamp power supply does not come loose when there is vibration, for example when driving a car.
  • FIGS. 1 a - 1 d show one of three identical base contacts 1 of a two-filament halogen incandescent lamp.
  • this base contact 1 consists of an L-shaped metal sheet made of chromium-containing steel. However, a sheet made of other corrosion-resistant steel or a nickel alloy can also be used.
  • a dovetail-like tab 3 is punched out laterally and bent at right angles to the shorter leg 2, so that these tabs 3, offset in parallel, form a continuation of the longer leg 4 of the base contact 1.
  • An opening 5 is provided in the center of the shorter leg 2 and is surrounded by a raised edge 6 on the side opposite the tabs 3.
  • the opening 5 is concentrically surrounded on the side facing away from the tabs 3 by a pronounced annular bead 7.
  • FIGs 2a and 2b show the base 8 of the two-filament halogen lamp, which consists of a base sleeve 9, three base contacts 1 and a base insulation 10 made of molding compound.
  • the base sleeve 9 is embedded with its lower end and the base contacts 1 with the tabs 3 and the shorter leg 2 in the base insulation 10.
  • a funnel-shaped bore 11 is cut out in alignment with the openings 5 of the base contacts 1.
  • the punches which produce these funnel-shaped bores 11 additionally have mandrels at their tips, which pass through the openings 5 in the base contacts 1 when the base insulation 10 is pressed and thus keep the openings 5 free of base insulation material.
  • the annular beads 7 arranged concentrically with the openings 5 are also provided.
  • the power supply lines 12 (only partially shown) of the two-filament halogen lamp are inserted so that they are slightly above the raised edge 6 of the base contact openings 5 stick out.
  • the base contacts 1 are connected to ground and tungsten electrodes are arranged about 1 mm above the respective welding point, the raised edge 6.
  • Argon serves as a protective gas.
  • the respective raised edge 6 of each base contact 1 is melted down completely and the power supply lines of the lamp are only slightly melted, so that the melt from the base contact material can just connect to the respective power supply line.
  • FIG. 3 shows an enlarged section of the base 8 of the lamp, but with welded-on power supply lines 12.
  • the base contact opening 5 shown is completely sealed by the base contact material after the welding process; A small cam 13 is created above the original opening 5.
