- the film webs 3 and 4 are drawn off from corresponding film rolls 1 and 2 and first passed through a connecting station V, in which a plurality of wetting rolls 5 are arranged, each of which is rotatably mounted on an axis of rotation running transversely to the conveying direction of the film webs 3 and 4, and with its peripheral edge bear against one of the film webs 3 or 4.
- the wetting rollers 5 are adjustable on their axis of rotation transversely to the film web 3 and receive on another part of their circumference a liquid or adhesive softening the material of the film web from a wetting bath 6.
- the wetting rollers 5 thus produce wetting strips running on the film web 3 in the longitudinal direction thereof, in which the film material is adhesively softened.
- the film webs 3 and 4 then pass through a pressing device 7 formed in the embodiment shown by two rollers, which presses the film webs 3 and 4 against one another and, by adhesion of the wetting strips, produces linear connection regions 8 in which the films lanes 4 and 3 are permanently connected.
- the thus produced, linearly connected double film is then fed to the punching station S, in which the necessary insertion pockets are punched out by means of the punching device.
- the film When the double film is fed to the punching station, the film preferably runs through a pair of pulling rollers which ensure uniform removal from the film rolls 1 and 2. Behind the pair of pull rollers, a hanging loop is formed with the connected double foils, since the removal by the punching station 11 is, however, clocked in sections.
- the loop formation is intended to enable the transition of the double film 8 from continuous movement to index movement. It is possible to provide a dancer roller in the loop.
- the individual insertion pockets are punched out with the aid of the punching tool, as described further below, and placed on the sheet 14.
- the film waste web 25, which now has punch holes 30, is wound on a roll. It can be reprocessed into film material in recycling.
- the punching station is shown in Fig. 3. It has a counter pressure plate 42 below the film web 3, which serves as an abutment for the cutting blades 19.
- the cutting blades 19 are embedded in a plate 21 and supported on an upper pressure plate 41 which can perform an up and down movement for the punching process.
- the cutting blades 19 are arranged between contact blocks 20 which have elastic parts projecting beyond the cutting edges of the cutting blades 19.
- a distance is provided between contact blocks 20 and cutting blades 19, which prevents these two parts from touching, so that contact blocks 20 do not become electrostatically charged due to friction on cutting blades 19.
- a suction chamber 39 is provided behind the contact blocks 20 and is connected to a suction device 28. A negative pressure can be created in the suction chamber 39 via the suction device 28.
- the contact blocks 20 are designed with suction channels 29 or porous, so that an air flow through the contact blocks 20 into the suction chambers 39 occurs when a vacuum is present.
- the suction chamber 39 is closed on the outside with a sealing ring 40, so that the air entry into the suction chambers occurs only via the contact blocks 20.
- the punching station works as follows: In a first step, the punching tool is lowered so that the cutting blades 19 cut into the film. It is preferably provided that in the first half in the direction of movement of the film web 3 the film web only receives longitudinal cuts through the cutting blades 20, while in the second half the cutting blades 19 are arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the film web 3 so that they impart cross sections to the film web.

- the finished insertion pockets are punched out in the right half of the punching tool in FIG. 3.
- a vacuum is generated in the suction chamber 39 via the suction device 28, with the aid of which the punched-out pockets are held on these contact blocks via the suction channels 29.
- the elasticity of the contact blocks serves to strip the punched material from the cutting blades, but at the same time the pockets are to be held with the help of the negative pressure.
- the sheet carrier 33 with the sheet 14 mounted thereon is now guided under the punching tool, so that the insertion pockets held by the negative pressure come to rest over the adhesive applications which were applied to the sheet 14 in the gluing station.
- the sheet carrier 33 with the sheet 14 supported thereon and the pockets held by negative pressure are now brought together, preferably by lifting the sheet carrier 33.
- the adhesive applicators 16 now touch the pockets.
- the suction device 28 is switched off, so that the negative pressure which fixes the pockets on the contact blocks is released and the insert pockets are thus released from the contact blocks 20.
- the adhesive application 16 on the sheet 14 now holds the pockets, so that they are attached at the intended locations in the desired manner.
- the sheet carrier 33 is then pivoted further so that the punching tool can start again in a new cycle with the first step. Since the insertion pockets in the rear section of the film web 3 are also punched out in the front part of the film web 3 at the same time as the first work step in each cycle, the operative workflow provides that the punching tool is lowered alternately and then the sheet carrier 33 with the one lying thereon Sheet 14 removes the pockets from the punch. The punching tool is then lowered again and a further removal of the pockets.
