Definitions
- the present invention relates to a dispensing cover intended to be associated with a conventional pressurized container of the "aerosol" type.
- the distribution covers known and used so far are generally made in two parts, one fixed, the other mobile.
- the fixed part is formed by a cover body which is fixed, in particular by snap-fastening, on the associated pressurized container.
- the movable part of the distribution caps is in the form of a push button arranged at least partially inside the cover body and cooperating with the outlet member of the ejection valve of the pressurized container.
- the valve is most often arranged on a cup itself fixed by an annular bead of crimping on the upper part of the container body.
- the push button has, at its upper part, a tongue on which the user acts to cause the opening of the valve; at its lower part, it comprises a bent angled pipe, the axial branch of which comes to cooperate with the outlet member of the valve and the radial branch of which ends in an ejection nozzle placed in line with a window made in the side wall of the hood body.
- Distribution covers of this kind can be produced either in one piece, or in two separate pieces, by plastic molding.
- the push-button is, as a first possibility, articulated by means of a hinge coming from molding, relative to the fixed body of the cover.
- This type of cover generally has an internal skirt coaxial with the external side wall of the cover body; the aforementioned skirt is provided with members, such as pins or a peripheral ring, allowing the snap-fastening of the cover body to the crimping bead of the valve-holder cup of the pressurized container.
- the push button is no longer articulated relative to the cover body but is mounted to slide along the axis of the valve of the pressurized container, inside a central chimney formed in the body of the hood; on demolding, the push button in question is connected by breakable fasteners, coming from molding, to the wall of the hood body.
- the above distribution covers raise two kinds of difficulties, one in molding, the other in the positioning of the cover on the associated pressurized container.
- the presentation covers especially if they are molded in one piece, have a complex configuration requiring molds which are expensive to manufacture and which complicate the demolding operations.
- most of the current distribution covers do not lend themselves, due to their design, to automatic installation, almost without manual intervention on pressurized containers.
- a distribution cover produced in two parts, one fixed, the other mobile, the fixed part comprising a cover body provided with means ensuring its holding relative to the pressurized container, the movable part consisting of a push button cooperating with the valve outlet member, a window being formed in the side wall of the cover body in line with the button ejection nozzle- pusher.
- the fixed part of the cover comprises a sleeve fitted inside the cover body, said sleeve coming to bear on an element of the pressurized container, means being provided for ensuring the angular positioning of the cover body relative to the sleeve.
- the push button is made in one piece with the sleeve, but when the cover body is placed on the sleeve, the push button is detached from the sleeve by two trocars which come cut the tabs that attach the push button to the sleeve.
- the push-button is then placed on the valve tube and its pivot axis is maintained upwards thanks to notches provided in the internal wings of the cover body.
- the sleeve which ensures the centering of the cover body, is hung on the crimping bead of the valve cup and centered on the latter.
- this cover has several disadvantages: first, the axis of the push button is necessarily in an area fairly close to the axis of the cover and the valve outlet tube, so that during operation, the rod valve outlet is subjected to bending, which is detrimental to the proper functioning of the valve; secondly, the cost price of the cover is quite high for two reasons: on the one hand, the cover body necessarily has two internal fins which extend from the upper wall to the level of the axis of articulation , which requires a large amount of material and, on the other hand, it is necessary to respect the tight tolerances so that when the cover body is mounted on the sleeve, the tongues are cut by means of the trocars without damaging the 'articulation provided for the push button; thirdly, the operation of the push button is necessarily carried out through an orifice in the side wall of the cover, which is unsightly and does not allow the establishment of a tamper-evident plate.
- the present invention aims to provide a cover dispenser which not only allows a simple, rapid and mechanizable installation on a pressurized container but which, moreover, avoids all the drawbacks presented by the cover described in the patent of the United States of America 3,661,300.
- the present invention therefore relates to a dispensing cover intended to be associated with a pressurized container of the "aerosol can" type, this container being produced in two parts, one fixed and the other mobile, the fixed part of the cover comprising , firstly, a cover body provided with means ensuring its maintenance with respect to the pressurized container and, secondly, a sleeve, which is fitted inside said cover body, comes to bear substantially on an element of the container pressurized and comprises members ensuring its centering relative to the valve cup of the container, means being provided for ensuring the angular positioning of said cover body relative to said sleeve, the movable part of the dispensing cover consisting of a push button, which cooperates with the outlet member of the ejection valve of the associated container, said push button comprising an ejection nozzle to a pipe, which places the outlet member of the valve with said nozzle, said push button being molded in one piece with the sleeve and being operable through an opening in the wall of the cover body,
- the cover body comprises members making it possible to limit the movement of the push button around its articulation hinge in the opposite direction to that which corresponds to the opening of the valve, these members consisting of at least one lateral stop integral with the push button and intended to cooperate with the lower edge of a guide wing of the hood body; on demolding, the push button is kept fixed inside the sleeve by means of a breakable fastener coming from molding; the cover body internally comprises members ensuring the guidance of the push-button in a plane passing through the sliding axis of the valve outlet member and perpendicular to the axis of the articulation hinge; the guide members of the push-button consist of two wings between which the push-button engages, said wings being arranged on either side of the window of the cover body, to the right of which is disposed the nozzle d 'ejection of the push button; the opening provided in the wall of the hood body, to allow operation of the push button, is made in the upper wall of said hood body and is
- the cover body comprises, at its base, a latching element, which cooperates with a corresponding latching element carried by the wall of the pressurized container; the means allowing the angular positioning of the cover body relative to the sleeve simultaneously ensures that the sleeve rests on the crimping bead of the valve-holder cup of the container; the means allowing the angular positioning of the cover body relative to the sleeve comprise at least one lug provided in relief inside the side wall of the cover body and at least one notch formed on the sleeve and intended to receive the lug cited above; the centering members of the cover consist of two studs substantially parallel to the axis of the sleeve and projecting from the two concave parts of said sleeve, the two aforementioned studs fitting inside the valve holder cup of the container; the side wall of the cover body is provided with a discontinuous annular ring which snaps inside a peripheral groove made on the body of the container
- the sleeve includes means allowing it to be hooked onto the crimping bead of the valve-holder cup of the container;
- the coupling means of the sleeve comprise at least two forks inside which engages the crimping bead of the valve holder cup;
- the two attachment forks are substantially symmetrical with respect to the axis of the sleeve, the inner wings of said forks cooperating with the inner peripheral wall of the crimping bead;
- the outer wing of each attachment fork has a curved profile substantially matching the convex curved profile of the crimping bead and ends with a ring which snaps inside a periphery groove formed in the connection zone of the crimping bead with the body of container, when the sleeve is substantially supported on said crimping bead;
- the cover body is fixed by snap-fastening on the sleeve;
- the side wall of the cover body comprises at least one internal
- the present invention also relates to an assembly formed by a pressurized container of the "aerosol can" type and a dispensing cover as defined above.
- the side wall of the hood body comprises a ring which snaps inside a peripheral groove provided on the body of the pressurized container and the associated pressurized container is obtained by stamping and forming a metal pellet, said container being formed in a warhead in its zone, which is opposite to its bottom, a valve holder cup being fixed by crimping at the end of the warhead; the peripheral groove is formed on the pressurized container in the area of connection of the warhead with the cylindrical side wall of the container body.

- the push button 20 Upon demolding, the push button 20 is kept fixed inside the sleeve 30 by means of two breakable wires 39 (FIG. 3) coming from molding. In this way, by a simple fitting operation of the two pre-centering pins 37 inside the valve-holder cup 4 until the sleeve 30 presses against the peripheral crimping bead 5, the outlet tube 6 of the valve is automatically fitted inside the axial pipe 23 of the push button 20.
- the side wall 11 of the hood body is provided at its lower part with a discontinuous rod 12 in two sections which, by snap-fastening inside the preformed peripheral groove 7 ensures the fixing, in a substantially irreversible manner, of the hood body 10 on the upper part of container 1.
- a window 13 and a diametrically opposite notch 14 are formed in the upper part of the side wall 11, in its zone of connection with the upper wall 15 of the cover body 10.
- At the right of the window 13 is the front wall 25 of the push button 20 where the ejection nozzle 22 is formed; the two opposite notches 32, 33 of the sleeve 30 come opposite the window 13 and respectively of the notch 14 (FIG. 4) of the cover body 10.
- the aim of the notch 14 is to facilitate the operation of pressing, using a finger, of the push button 20 inside the cover body 10.
- An opening having the shape and the size of the tongue 21 of the push button 20 is made in the upper wall 15 of the cover body.

- the tamper-evident plate 16 is also provided with a rounded return 18 of rounded shape which is housed substantially inside the notch 14.
- a pre-cut tab 45 is provided in the central part of the tamper-evident plate 16; in the factory, the penetration of the precut tab 45 by means of a tool makes it possible to control the spraying of the product contained in the container, without tearing off or damaging the tamper-evident plate 16.
- the lateral edges of the window 13 and of the notch 14 are joined two by two by two guide wings 19,40 extending inside the housing body 10; the two guide wings 19, 40 delimit the two longitudinal edges of the opening made in the upper wall 15 of the cover body 10; they are arranged symmetrically on either side of the axis of the cover body and they are substantially convergent towards the window 13.
- the two guide wings 19, 40 are interrupted (FIG. 2 and 4) in the vicinity of the window 13.
- the ends of the two guide wings 19, 40 are positioned inside the two notches 32, 33 of the sleeve 30 while the tongue 21 of the push button is housed, with the possibility of clearance, between its two wings.

- the two lateral stops 26 provided on either side of the tongue 21 of the push button 20 are intended to cooperate with the lower edge 41 (FIG. 4) of the two guide wings 19,40 so as to limit the angular movement of the push button 20 around its film hinge 35, in the opposite direction to that which corresponds to a depression of the outlet tube 6 of the valve and consequently to the opening of said valve.
- Two internal pins 42, 43 are provided in relief on the side wall 11 of the cover body, on either side of the window 13.
- the two above-mentioned pins 42, 43 engage in the two notches 34 of the sleeve 30.
- the purpose of the cooperation of the pins 42, 43 and the notches 34 is to ensure, on the one hand, the bearing of the sleeve 30 on the annular crimping bead 5 and, on the other hand, the angular positioning of the body of cover 10 relative to sleeve 30.
- the assembly of the distribution cover which has just been described on the pressurized container 1 is advantageously carried out on an automatic machine: the push-button 20 is positioned in the axis of the outlet tube 6 of the valve and then lowered; during this downward movement, the cooperation of the two studs 37 with the inner circular wall of the valve holder cup 4 ensures the coincidence of the axes of the outlet tube 6 of the valve and of the push button 20, so that the outlet tube 6 is automatically inserted inside the axial pipe 23 of the push button.
- the hood body 10 is presented above the pressurized container on which the assembly formed by the push button 20 and the sleeve 30 has been put in place, the cover body being oriented angularly with respect to this assembly so that the ejection nozzle 22 come to the right of window 13; the cover body 10 is then fitted onto the upper part of the container 1 until the discontinuous rod 12 clicks inside the peripheral groove 7 of the container.
- the sleeve 30 is kept fixed inside the cover body 10 while constituting a piece independent of the latter, which makes it possible to compensate for the dimensional tolerances existing between the peripheral groove 7 and the upper part of the annular bead for crimping 5 of container 1.

- the two lateral stops 226 provided on either side of the tongue 225 of the push button cooperate with the lower edge of the two guide wings 216 so as to limit the angular movement of the push button 220 around its articulation hinge 235 in the opposite direction to that which corresponds to a depression of the outlet tube 207 of the valve and, consequently, to the opening of said valve.
- the two guide wings 216 of the cover body are placed by their projecting ends 216a, 216b, inside the two opposite notches 233, 234 of the sleeve 230; they thus ensure the angular positioning of the cover body 210 relative to the sleeve 230 and, consequently, to the associated push button 220, so that the ejection nozzle of the push button is located in line with the window 213 of the body hood.
- Two hooking notches 212 diametrically opposite are provided in relief inside the side wall 211 of the cover body, below the window 213 and the notch 214.
- the sleeve 230 comes substantially in support by the lower edge of its two convex parts 231, 232 on the two hooking notches 212 of the hood body, while simultaneously the ends 216a, 216b of the two guide wings 216 come substantially into abutment against the bottom of the two notches 233, 234 of the sleeve.
- the aforementioned opening is closed by a tamper-evident plate 217 connected by breakable fasteners 218 molded with the upper wall 215 of the hood body.
- a pre-cut tab 219 (FIG. 10) is formed in the part of the tamper-evident plate 217 which is arranged in the center of the upper wall 215.
- the depression of the pre-cut tab 219 by means of a tool makes it possible to actuate the push button 220 and to control the spraying of the conditioned product in the pressurized container, without tearing off or damaging the tamper-evident plate 217.
- the assembly of the distribution cover on the pressurized container 200 can be carried out as follows: the assembly formed by the sleeve 230 and the adjoining push button 220 is fixed to the valve holder cup of the container by snapping on the crimping bead 205 inside the two attachment forks 237 of the sleeve; during this maneuver, the outlet tube 207 is automatically inserted inside the axial pipe 221 of the push button.
- the cover body 210 is then presented above the pressurized container, the cover body 210 being angularly oriented relative to the sleeve 230 so that the ends of the two guide wings 216 can penetrate inside the two notches 233, 234 of the sleeve; the cover body 210 is then force fitted onto the sleeve 230 to allow the latter to be crossed by the two hooking notches 212 of the cover body; this driving-in movement is continued until the lower edge of the sleeve comes to bear on the two hooking notches 212 and the ends 216a, 216b of the two guide wings 216 abut against the bottom of the two notches 233, 234 of the sleeve.
- the cover body 210 is then fixed to the sleeve which is itself snapped onto the crimping bead of the valve holder cup.
- the sleeve 230 and its push button 220 attached to the inside of the cover body 210 are fixed, then this assembly is snapped onto the crimping bead of the pressurized container.
