Definitions

  • the invention relates to an automatic inflator for a diving life jacket.
  • Inflation systems for a life jacket connected to the diving device reducing valve are known and widely used in practice. It is operated manually.
  • the vest either serves to tarry the diver and can be used to inflate fully and emerge quickly in an emergency.
  • the life jacket is inflated by manually operating a valve connected to the medium pressure outlet.
  • the life jacket is emptied by actuating the valve connected to the vest corrugated hose.
  • the life jacket is inflated with a time delay by means of an auxiliary piston that opens an overflow opening.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a simpler and cheaper automatic inflator that can be connected to the existing equipment as an additional device.
  • the invention solves this problem with the aid of an automatic inflator, which has the features of claim 1.
  • the automatic inflator shown in the drawing comprises a housing 1 for a breathing sensor, a housing 2 for a time delay element, a pressure compensation chamber in the form of a connecting tube 7 between the housings 1 and 2 and a valve head 4.
  • the housing 1 is closed by a cover (8) to which the breathing air pressure hose 22 is connected by means of the union nut 21, which leads to the low-pressure outlet of the first stage, to which the regulator is also connected.
  • An annular, elastic membrane 9 is clamped between the cover 8 and the housing 1, which together with the stop plate 5 which can be pushed back and forth in the housing 1 and the rod 6 connected to it forms the breath sensor.
  • the housing 2 has a bore which is closed by the two cover plates 10 and 11.
  • the piston 3 with the non-return valve plate 42 and the spring washer 43 is located in the cylinder formed in this way.
  • the piston 3 is connected to the rod 6 of the breath sensor, which is sealed and passed through the two cover disks 10, 11.
  • the cylinder is filled with a liquid 34 and forms a hydraulic time delay element with the piston.
  • valve head The valve head
  • a valve head 4 is located on the housing 1. It is fastened by means of the valve body 14 which is screwed into the housing 1. In the valve body there is a tiltable inflation valve 15 which is pressed into its closed position by the conical spiral compression spring 37. In a bore penetrating the wall of the valve head 14 there is a pin 23 which is provided on the outside with an actuating button 13. A return spring 16 and a sealing ring 27 are attached inside the valve head.
  • a hose 41 for the Tarrier life jacket is pulled onto the left end of the valve head 4 and secured by means of a clamp 32.
  • a mouthpiece 30 On the right outside on the valve head 4 there is a mouthpiece 30 which is also secured with a clip 31.
  • a valve plate 17 with a pin 18, a return spring 19 and an actuating button 20 attached to the outside is provided in the right part of the valve head 4, in front of the exit to the emergency breathing mouthpiece 30, a valve plate 17 with a pin 18, a return spring 19 and an actuating button 20 attached to the outside is provided. This allows air to be released for emergency breathing or for tarring.
  • the stop plate 5 is on the left at the stop of the lid 8.
  • the regulator is switched on and compressed air flows through the pressure hose 22 and through the gap between the membrane 9 and the stop plate 5 into the space 33 of the automatic inflator. Due to the pressure difference between the pressure in the space 33 and the smaller pressure of the water to which the right end of the rod 6 is exposed, the rod 6 of the breath sensor slowly moves to the right, braked by the liquid 34, which has to flow around the piston 3. If there is no breathing from the regulator, the rod 6 continues to move to the right until the collar of the stop plate 5 opens the inflation valve 15.
  • the membrane 9 is pressed onto the stop plate 5 like a check valve without play, so that the two parts form a unit.
  • the reduction in pressure will then cause the movement of the stop plate 5 and rod 6 by elastic expansion of the air volume 33 now sealed in the connecting tube 7. With each inhalation, this movement will pull the rod 6 with the stop plate 5 to the left and make it impossible to open the inflation valve 15 as long as the diver breathes normally.
  • the inflation valve 15 is actuated with a time delay.
  • the membrane 9 can with the pressure increase, for. B. when immersing air in the room 33 so that it is always filled with air.
  • the diver can also inflate the life jacket at his own discretion by pressing button 13, or deflate by pressing button 20, or exhale through the mouthpiece 30.
  • the automatic inflator for the diving life jacket gives the diver additional security against diving accidents.
  • the equipment is simple, does not require any special operation and is integrated into the currently available diving life jacket so that the diver can maintain his previous habits when handling it.
