Definitions

  • the invention relates to an output device of a copying machine for the stacking of plastic copying films in a storage container, with a fan, a transfer corona and a first discharge element inside the copying machine.
  • the former Because of these different mechanisms of transferring toner images onto plastic films and onto paper, the former have difficulties in fixing the toner images and in stacking them after the copying process. A further difficulty arises in that the plastic films may generally only be heated to a temperature between 110.degree. C. to 130.degree. C. during the fixing process in order to avoid thermoplastic deformation of the films, while the fixing temperatures for paper are quite a bit can be set higher.
  • toner images on plastic films cannot yet be dry-wiped dry when fixed within the temperature range specified above.
  • Another disadvantage is the electrostatic charging of the plastic films, as a result of which, in contrast to paper copies, they cannot be stacked on top of one another in a storage container, but rather adhere to one another. This can lead to backlogs in the interior of the copying machine, since the subsequent copying foils are prevented from exiting by the foils adhering to one another in the storage container, or the copying foils are pushed out of the dispensing container.
  • the object of the invention is to improve an output device of a copying machine of the type described in the introduction so that the plastic films are dry, smudge-proof before being put down and without being able to adhere to one another electrostatically adhering to one another in the storage container.
  • This object is achieved in that a blower is arranged on the outside of the copying machine above the dispensing gap, the air flow of which presses the back of a copying film emerging from the dispensing gap against a second discharge element.
  • the electrostatic charging of the copying films is sufficiently reduced by the grounded discharge element, which grazes along the upper edge of the charged back of the copying film, in order to enable proper stacking of the copying films in the storage container.
  • the air flow of the blower brings about both a complete drying of the toner image on the PVC copying film and an intimate contact between the back of the PVC copying film and the discharge element, which ensures a corresponding dissipation of the electrostatic charges from the back of the PVC copying film against mass is.
  • a further advantage is that the air flow of the blower pushes the foils downwards, resulting in a kind of snap movement of the foil downwards into the storage container. This snap movement also ensures that a film that has jammed, for example, and has not gotten properly into the storage container, is released from this clamping position and properly deposited.
  • FIG. 1 Of a copying machine 1, only the transport path of an image-receiving material, for example a plastic film, in the present case a PVC copying film 16, is shown in FIG. 1. It is obvious that the subject matter of the invention is not restricted to a PVC or a coated copier film, but is suitable for any plastic film. From a storage cassette (not shown) in the copying machine 1, a copying film 16 reaches one Selenium drum 9, from the surface of which a toner image is transferred to the copying film 16 by means of a transfer corona 24.
  • a transfer corona 24 From a storage cassette (not shown) in the copying machine 1, a copying film 16 reaches one Selenium drum 9, from the surface of which a toner image is transferred to the copying film 16 by means of a transfer corona 24.
  • the copying film 16 is detached from the selenium drum 9 by means of a guide spring (not shown) or a deflecting belt, which partially abuts the circumference of the deflecting roller 10, and guided to transport rollers 5 and 6.
  • transport rollers 5 and 6 convey the copying film 16 through a fixing station, which is composed of a fixing pressure roller 11 and a heating plate 26 underneath. Below the heating plate 26 there is a fan 25, which contributes to drying the toner image on the copying film 16.
  • the copying film passes through the fixing station to discharge rollers 12 and 13, which are arranged near the housing wall of the copying machine 1 in front of an output nip 17. Above the discharge gap 17, a discharge brush 2 is attached to the inside of the housing wall of the copying machine 1 as the first discharge element, which contributes to the electrostatic discharge of the front side of the copying film 16.
  • the deflection roller 10, the transport roller 6, the fixing pressure roller 11 and the discharge roller 12 are driven via a transport chain 27, which is an endless chain via the aforementioned rollers, a deflection roller pair 7, 8, a chain tensioner 3 and a chain tensioner deflection roller 14 between the deflection roller 10 and the transport roller 6 rotates.
  • the deflecting roller 10 is driven in a manner not shown together with the selenium drum 9 via a gear.
  • a copying film 16 is shown, which lies with its front edge against a second discharge element 18 which is attached to the outside of the housing wall of the copying machine 1.
  • the second discharge element 18 is connected to the ground point 19 and its upper edge lies higher than a transport plane 23, which is shown in broken lines in FIG. 1 and in which the copying film 16 is moved through the output gap 17.
  • the second discharge element 18 is made of an elastic material and serves as an additional guide element for the copying film 16 emerging from the output nip 17.
  • the discharge rollers 12 and 13 advance the copying film 16, as a result of which the second discharge element 18 is curved and with its upper edge under pressure on the Back of the copy film 16 is present, as shown in dashed lines in Fig. 1.
  • a blower 20 for example a tangential fan, is arranged on the outside of the copying machine 1, which is oriented such that its air flow strikes the front of the copying film 16 perpendicularly. This air flow presses the copying film 16 against the second discharge element 18 and thereby ensures a corresponding contact between the back of the copying film 16 and the discharge element 18.
  • the electrostatic charges located on the back of the copying film 16 are dissipated to ground via the discharge element 18. At the same time, the air flow from the blower 20 causes the toner image on the copying film 16 to be wiped dry.
  • a dispensing container 15 Disposed below the second discharge element 18 is a dispensing container 15, the collecting surface of which is angled such that the smaller part of the surface runs horizontally and the larger part is directed obliquely upwards.
  • the electrostatically discharged copier films form a stack 16 'in the output container 15.
  • the discharge element 18 has the shape of a comb, for example, which is formed from individual sections. The upper edges 21 of these sections run horizontally, so that there is a line contact with the back of the copy film 16.
  • the material for the discharge member 18 is a polyester film coated with aluminum is used, for example, which may have a thickness up to 100 m Il, with a thickness of 75 I lm is preferred.
  • the second discharge element consists of a brush which is formed from elastic metal wires 22, as shown in FIG. 2b.
  • FIG. 3 Another embodiment of the invention is shown in FIG. 3 and differs from the embodiment according to FIG. 1 only in that the blower 20 is inclined relative to the transport plane 23 of the copying film 16. This inclination is adjustable so that the optimum flow direction of the air flow onto the copying film 16 can be set as required in order to obtain a deposit thereof in the output container without tilting the copying film.
