Definitions

  • the invention relates to a head protection consisting of a one-piece, molded foam molded part made of polyurethane foam for athletes with openings for eyes, nose, mouth and ears on all sides up to the back of the head on the cervical vertebrae.
  • Such a head protection is known from DE-A-2 460 590.
  • this head protection has an additional outer layer on the polyurethane foam in order to achieve a higher strength of the surface.
  • this head protection practically represents a closed basket, which is relatively rigid due to webs in the area of the chin and mouth and is in any case firmly closed. In the same way, this head protection is practically closed at the back of the head by a horizontally surrounding web.
  • Such a head protection can therefore hardly be adapted to different head sizes because it does not yield in the area of the chin and also only ensures a firm fit with a certain head size. In most cases, a poor fit has to be accepted or numerous different sizes have to be kept in stock.
  • a helmet is known from DE-A-2 245 997, which consists of several layers of integral polyurethane foam, wherein a rigid polyurethane foam is used for the outer rigid outer hood, and an integrated inner lining made of a soft foam is provided.
  • a rigid polyurethane foam is used for the outer rigid outer hood, and an integrated inner lining made of a soft foam is provided.
  • an overall rigid helmet essentially serves to protect motorists against a hard impact and is therefore neither adjustable in size nor does it offer protection of the face part.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a headgear which can be easily adapted to different head sizes and which nevertheless ensures reliable protection and a barely impaired perception of the wearer.
  • the molded part consists entirely of soft, elastic integral polyurethane foam, divided in the area of the chin shell by a slot extending from the mouth opening and in the back of the head area by two continuous vertical longitudinal slots, one between them from the zenith of the head protection Include a free bridge that extends to the base of the cervical vertebra, is separated.
  • the head protection it is practically divided into three shells, namely two side shells and an opera shell, which can be bent against one another, but remain so elastically connected that the fitted head protection also clings reliably to different head sizes and thereby reliably protects the wearer .
  • the head protection is additionally reinforced in the forehead, temple and back of the head.
  • the approximately oval cut-out in the field of vision can be bevelled by around 45 ° on its leading edge and by around 30 ° on the lateral and cheekbone edges, while on the inside of the molded part the recesses surrounding the lateral hearing openings can be made the auricle are provided.
  • the head protection consists of a molded part 1 which is foamed out as a whole and which is made according to a model head in order to ensure a good fit.
  • the helmet-like, thinner manufactured upper part 2 has four approximately triangular openings 3, 4, 5 and 6 and then goes into the reinforced front part 7, the area covering the temples 8, the cheekbone parts 9 and the chin and the lower jaw almost completely surrounding the shell 10 over and runs obliquely backwards into the back of the head 11.
  • the chin shell 10 is divided by a vertical slot 12 extending from the mouth opening, which is bridged with a self-adhesive Velcro fastener 13 and thus connects the two chin shell halves mutually lockable.
  • a vertical slot 12 extending from the mouth opening, which is bridged with a self-adhesive Velcro fastener 13 and thus connects the two chin shell halves mutually lockable.
  • two longitudinal slots 14 and 15 which run parallel to one another and extend to the lower edge of the molded part 1 in such a way that a free and elastic web 16 is formed which extends from the center of the helmet-like upper part 2 and extends practically to the cervical vertebrae and thus on the one hand an elastic adaptation to the shape of the head and also a secure protection of these occipital areas is guaranteed.
  • the two rear side head protection parts 11 a and 11 b and the web 16 can also by one self-adhesive Velcro fastener 17 are connected to each other tensioning.
  • the approximately oval recess 18 for the field of view is - in order to largely rule out visual impairment by the head protection - bevelled by approximately 45 ° at the top end edge 19 and by approximately 30 ° at the lateral and cheekbone edges 20.
  • an initially horizontal recess 23 is cut above the oval Aßparüng 18 on the inner surface of the front part 7, which is provided in addition to the eye areas in downward channels 24 for dissipating the sweat trickling from the forehead, thereby avoiding that the forehead sweat in the Eyes flowing.
  • the advantage of the head protection according to the invention consists essentially in the fact that the head is reliably protected at all vulnerable points in the event of impact and impact and when falling, so that the risk of injury is reduced, if not excluded at all.
  • the adjustment of the head protection to adapt to the corresponding head size is very simple and the field of view is free from annoying projections due to the angular bevel in all directions.
  • a major advantage is also the use of a soft integral polyurethane foam for the molded part, this integral foam having an almost closed skin surface that forms a densified edge zone during the foaming process, which merges into the cellular core as a sandwich.
  • the existing regular molecular crosslinking results in an extraordinarily high elasticity.
  • the integral polyurethane foam absorbs the kinetic energy and returns to its original shape after relief. This is achieved in that the closed cell structure and the non-directionally oriented cell walls result in an air cushion braking effect, which ensures absorption of the streaks and optimal springback.
  • the solid skin of the molded part which merges into the cellular core like a sandwich, is created in one step from the same material in the molded foam workpiece.
  • the head protection can then be covered with an elastic varnish in order to obtain an optimal appearance.
