Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a magnetic separator with intersecting conveyor belts, the lower belt for transporting the material to be separated and at least one upper belt serving as a discharge belt for the separated material and two soft iron pole pieces are provided which form the working gap and are magnetized in the opposite direction by a magnet system , wherein one pole piece is arranged below the upper run of the lower band and the other pole piece is arranged above the discharge belt and wherein the pole piece arranged under the lower belt has at least one large-area pole surface and the pole piece arranged above the discharge belt has at least a smaller one, concentrating the magnetic flux has in the longitudinal direction of the discharge belt extending pole face.
  • a magnetic separator of this type has become known from US Pat. No. 2,591,121. Horseshoe-shaped electromagnets are used, the soft iron pole pieces of which have a special shape to improve the discharge performance.
  • magnetic separators for separating substances of different magnetic excitability using intersecting means of transportation have become known, for example, from DE-C - 180 923.
  • Magnetically influenced drums are arranged transversely to the feed belt. In such a system, the separation performance is relatively low because of the large stray field losses that cannot be avoided.
  • the aim of the invention is to largely reduce the stray field losses of the known systems in magnetic separators with intersecting conveyor belts and in this way to achieve better efficiencies, while at the same time simplifying the known electromagnet systems by a closed permanent magnet system.
  • the magnet system consists of two frames, each of which encloses the upper run of the lower belt, one on the left and the other on the right side of the discharge belt, and that the frame consists of two symmetrical halves of alternately successive Permanent magnets and soft iron parts exist, the frames thus formed being connected by means of two soft iron pole pieces of opposite polarity arranged between the upper and lower runs of the strips.
