Abstract
La presente invención proporciona un método para controlar el ruido y la severidad provocados por la combustión en un motor encendido por chispa que tiene una cámara de combustión; un medio de distribución de combustible para distribuir una carga de combustible a la cámara de combustión; una pluralidad de medios de ignición por chispa situados en la cámara de combustión para encender la carga de combustible y una unidad de control. La unidad de control controla la operación de cada medio de ignición en respuesta al valor medido de por lo menos un parámetro asociado del ruido de combustión, que es una condición de operación del motor. El control puede ser una respuesta al parámetro asociado de ruido de combustión que viola un valor de umbral. El parámetro asociado de ruido de combustión puede ser la proporción de elevación de presión de combustión en la cámara de combustión. Sin embargo, el método puede implementarse en respuesta a la proporción de elevación de presión de combustión y uno o más parámetros adicionales, tales como la velocidad del motor, la aceleración y/o la carga del motor que violan los valores de umbral. Un sistema de control de ignición para implementar el método en un vehículo forma otro aspecto de la invención. El método y el sistema de control de ignición pueden implementarse en motores inyectados con combustible o motores con carburador pero es particularmente ventajoso para motores inyectados con combustible.
