Die Erfindung betrifft das Produkt, das durch Umsetzung von borierten Fettsäureestern von Glycerin mit einem

Mengen an fossilen Brennstoffen und den schnell ansteigenden Preisen für diese Brennstoffe entstanden
ist, ist ein erhebliches Interesse daran entstanden, die Menge an Brennstoff herabzusetzen, die von
Automobilmotoren und dgl. verbraucht wird.
Es besteht daher ein erheblicher Bedarf an der Auffindung von Schmiermitteln, welche die Gesamtreibung von Motoren
herabsetzen, so daß deren Energiebedarf vermindert wird.
Die US-PS 4 201 684 beschreibt Schmieröle, die sulfurierte
Fettsäureamide, Ester oder Esteramide von alkoxylierten Aminen enthalten, durch welche die Reibung
zwischen gleitenden Metallflächen in Ottomotoren herabgesetzt wird.
Die US-PS 4 167 486 beschreibt Schmieröle, die bestimmte saure Esterdoppelbindungen oder Dimere oder Trimere derartiger
saurer Ester enthalten. Eine Herabsetzung des Treibstoffverbrauchs in einem Ottomotor wird durch Verwendung
der Schmieröle in dem Kurbelgehäuse des Motors geltend gemacht.
Die US-PS 3 151 077 beschreibt die Verwendung von borierten monoacylierten Trimethylolalkanen als Motortreibstoff-
und Schmieröladditive. Es wird angegeben, daß dio
Additive das Auftreten der Oberflächenzündung in Ottomotren
vermindern und die Anreicherung von Vergaserabs ch e i düngen hemmen.
Die US-PS 2 79 5 54 8 beschreibt die Verwendung von Schmierölzubereitungen,
die boriertes Glycerinmonooleat enthalten. Die ölzubereitungen werden in dem Kurbelgehäuse von
Ottomotoren verwendet, um die Oxidation des Öls und eine Korrosion der Metallteile des Motors herabzusetzen.
Bei der Verwendung von borierten Fettsäureestern von
Glycerin in Schmierölen tritt insofern ein Problem auf, als diese leicht gegenüber Feuchtigkeit und Hydrolyse
empfindlich sind. Die Hydrolyse führt zu einer Trübung und/oder zur Bildung eines Niederschlages, der vor der
Verwendung herausfiltriert werden muß. Ferner verursacht
Glycerinoleat, das als Ergebnis der Hydrolyse erzeugt wird, Korrosionsprobleme und/oder Ausfällungsprobleme
in Gegenwart bestimmter Zinkdihydrocarbyldithiophosphonate
sowie Metallphenate.
Es wurde nunmehr gefunden, daß die borierten Fettsäureester
von Glycerin gegenüber einer Hydrolyse dadurch stabilisiert werden können, daß die borierten Fettsäureester
von Glycerin mit einem Alkenyl- oder Alkylmono- oder -bissuccinimid komplex gebunden werden.
Insbesondere wurde gefunden, daß durch ein Schmieren des Kurbelgehäuses eines Ottomotors mit einem Schmieröl,
welches das Reaktionsprodukt eines borierten Fettsäureesters
von Glycerin mit einem Succinimid enthält, der Treibstoffverbrauch des Motors herabgesetzt wird.

Erfindungsgemäß werden Schmieröle zur Verfügung gestellt,
welche die Reibung zwischen gleitenden Metalloberflächen vermindern und besonders geeignet sind in dem Kurbelgehäuse
von Ottomotoren. Die verminderte Reibung geht auf
° die Zugabe kleiner Mengen eines Komplexes zu dem Schmieröl
zurück, der hergestellt wird durch Umsetzung eines borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin mit einem Alkyl-
oder Älkenylmono- oder -bissuccinimid.

Demgemäß betrifft die Erfindung ein Schmieröl aus einem Öl mit Schmierviskosität und einer zur Herabsetzung der Reibung geeigneten Menge eines Komplexes, der hergestellt wird durch Umsetzung von (a) einem borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin oder Mischungen davon mit (b) einem ÖllÖslichen Alkyl- oder Älkenylmono- oder -bissuccin-
Demgemäß betrifft die Erfindung ein Schmieröl aus einem Öl mit Schmierviskosität und einer zur Herabsetzung der Reibung geeigneten Menge eines Komplexes, der hergestellt wird durch Umsetzung von (a) einem borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin oder Mischungen davon mit (b) einem ÖllÖslichen Alkyl- oder Älkenylmono- oder -bissuccin-

Andere Additive können ebenfalls in dem Schmieröl vorliegen,
um einen entsprechenden Ausgleich der Eigenschaften zu erzielen, wie Dispergiervermögen, Korrosionsbeständigkeit,
Abriebbeständigkeit und Oxidationswiderstand, Eigenschaften, die kritisch sind für einen günstigen
Betrieb eines Ottomotors.
Ferner wird durch die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herabsetzung des Treibstoffverbrauchs eines Ottomotors zur
Verfügung gestellt, welches darin besteht, daß die sich bewegenden Oberflächen des Motors mit dem vorstehend beschriebenen
Schmieröl behandelt werden. Bei durchgeführten Tests wurden Verbesserungen des TreibstoffVerbrauchs
von 2 bis 3 % im Durchschnitt ermittelt. Diese Verbesserung der Treibstoffwirtschaftlichkeit läßt sich sowohl
in Kompressionszündungsmotoren, d. h. Dieselmotoren, als auch in durch Zündfunken gezündeten Motoren, d. h. Benziniuotoren,
erzielen.
Die borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin werden hergestellt durch Borieren eines Fettsäureesters von Glycerin
mit Borsäure und Entfernung des Reaktionswassers. Vorzugsweise liegt eine solche Bormenge vor, die dazu ausreicht,
daß jedes Bor mit 1,5 bis 2,5 Hydroxylgruppen, die in der Reaktionsmischung zugegen sind, reagiert.
Die Reaktion kann bei einer Temperatur zwischen 6 0 und 135 C in Abwesenheit oder in Gegenwart irgendeines gaeigneten
organischen Lösungsmittels, wie Methanol, Benzol, Xylolen, Toluol, Neutralöl oder dgl., durchgeführt werden.
Fettsäureester von Glycerin können hergestellt werden nach einer Vielzahl bekannter Methoden. Viele dieser
Ester, wie Glycerinmonooleat und Glycerintalgat, werden in technischem Maß stäbe hergestellt. Die für die
Erfindung geeigneten Ester sind öllöslich und werden vorzugsweise hergestellt aus Cn-C«--Fettsäuren oder
Mischungen davon, wie sie sich in natürlichen Produkten finden. Die Fettsäure kann gesättigt oder ungesättigt
sein. Bestimmte Verbindungen, die sich in Säuren aus natürlichen Quellen finden, sind beispielsweise Licansäure,
die eine Ketogruppe enthält. Insbesondere handelt es sich bei den Cq-C---Fettsäuren um solche der Formel
R-COOH, wobei R für Alkyl oder Alkenyl steht.
Der Fettsäuremonoester von Glycerin ist jedoch vorzugsweise eine Mischung aus Mono- und Diestern. Vorzugsweise
enthält jede Mischung aus Mono- und Diester wenigstens 40 % des Monoesters. Insbesondere enthalten Mischungen
aus Mono- und Diestern von Glycerin 4 0 bis 6 0 Gew.-'. des Monoesters. Beispielsweise enthält im Handel erhältliches
Glycerinmonooleat eine Mischung aus 45 bis 55 Gew.-'o Monoester und 55 bis 45 % Diester.

Bevorzugte Fettsäuren sind Ölsäure, Stearinsäure, Isostearinsäure,
Palmitinsäure, Myristinsäure, Palmitoleinsäure, Linoleinsäure, Laurinsäure, Linolensäure sowie
Eleostearinsäure, wobei ferner die Säuren aus natürlichen Produkten erwähnt seien, wie Talk, Palmöl, Olivenöl, Erdnußöl,
Maisöl, Klauenöl oder dergleichen.
Eine besonders bevorzugte Säure ist ölsäure.
Die borierten Fettsäureester werden gegenüber einer Hydrolyse durch Umsetzung der Ester mit einem Alkyl- oder
Alkenylmono- oder -bissuccinimid stabilisiert.
Die öllöslichen Alkenyl- oder Alkylmono- oder -bissuccinimide, die erfindungsgemäß eingesetzt werden, sind im ,
allgemeinen bekannt als Schmieröldetergentien und werden in den US-PS'en 2 992 708, 3 018 291, 3 024 237,
3 100 673, 3 219 666, 3 172 892 und 3 272 746 beschrieben. Die Alkenylsuccinimide sind das Reaktionsprodukt
eines Polyolefinpolymer-substituierten Bernsteinsäureanhydrids mit einem Amin, vorzugsweise einem Polyalkylenpolyamin.
Die Polyolefinpolymer-substituierten Bernsteinsäureanhydride
werden erhalten durch Umsetzung eines Polyolef inpolymeren oder eines Derivats davon mit Maleinsäureanhydrid.
Das auf diese Weise erhaltene Bernsteinsäureanhydrid wird umgesetzt mit der Aminverbindung. Die
Herstellung der Alkenylsuccinimide wird oft in der Literatur beschrieben (vgl. beispielsweise die US-PS'en
3 390 082, 3 219 666 und 3 172 892). Eine Verminderung des Alkenyl-substituierten Bernsteinsäureanhydrids liefert
das entsprechende Alkylderivat. Ein Produkt aus überwiegend Mono- oder Bissuccinimid kann hergestellt werden
durch Steuerung der Molverhältnisse der Reaktanten. Wird beispielsweise 1 Mol Amin mit 1 Mol Alkenyl- oder Alkylsubstituiertem
Bernsteinsäureanhydrid umgesetzt, dann
■*■ wird ein überwiegend aus einem Monosuccinirnid bestehendes
Produkt hergestellt. Werden zwei MoLg des Bernsteinsäureanhydrids
pro Mol Polyamin umgesetzt, dann wird oin
Bissuccinimid hergestellt.

Besonders gute Ergebnisse werden mit den erfindungsgemäßen
Schmierölzubereitungen erhalten, wenn das Alkenylsuccinimid ein Polyisobuten-substituiertes Bernsteinsäureanhydrid
eines Polyalkylenpolyamins ist. 10
Das Polyisobuten, aus welchem das Polyisobuten-substitierte
Bernsteinsäureanhydrid durch Polymerisation von Isobuten erhalten wird, kann in seiner Zusammensetzung
erheblich schwanken. Die durchschnittliche Anzahl der Kohlenstoffatome kann von 30 oder weniger bis 250 oder
mehr variieren, was ein Zahlenmittel des Molekulargewichtes von ungefähr 400 oder weniger bis 3000 oder mehr bedingt.
Vorzugsweise schwankt die durchschnittliche Anzahl der Kohlenstoffatome pro Polyisobutenmolekül zwischen
ungefähr 5 0 und ungefähr 100, wobei die Polyisobutene
ein Zahlenmittel des Molekulargewichts von ungefähr 6 bis ungefähr 1500 besitzen. Insbesondere variiert die
durchschnittliche Anzahl der Kohlenstoffatome pro Isobutylenmolekül
zwischen ungefähr 60 und ungefähr 9 0 und das Zahlenmittel des Molekulargewichts zwischen ungefähr
800 und 1300. Das Polyisobuten wird mit Maleinsäureanhydrid nach bekannten Methoden umgesetzt, wobei das PoIyisobuten-substituierte
Bernsteinsäureanhydrid erhalten wird.
Zur Herstellung des Alkenylsuccinimids wird das substituierte
Bernsteinsäureanhydrid mit einem Polyalkylenpolyamin zur Gewinnung des entsprechenden Succinimids
zur Umsetzung gebracht. Jeder Alkylenrest des Polyalkylenpolyamins
besitzt gewöhnlich bis zu ungefähr 8 Koh-

lenstoffatome. Die Anzahl der Alkylenreste kann bis zu
ungefähr 8 betragen. Der Alkylenrest besteht beispielsweise aus Ethylen^ Propylen, Butylen, Trimethylen, Tetramethylen,
Pentamethylen, Hexamethylen, Octamethylen etc.
^ Die Anzahl der Aminogruppen ist im allgemeinen, jedoch
nicht in notwendiger Weise, um 1 größer als die Anzahl der Alkylenreste, die in dem Amin vorliegen, d. h. , enthält
ein Polyalkylenpolyamin 3 Alkylenreste, dann weist es gewöhnlich einen Gehalt von 4 Aminoresten auf. Die Anzahl
der Aminoreste kahn bis zu ungefähr 9 betragen. Vorzugsweise enthält der Alkylenrest ungefähr 2 bis ungefähr 4
Kohlenstoffatome, wobei alle Amingruppen primär oder
sekundär sind. In diesem Falle übersteigt die Anzahl der Amingruppen die Anzahl der Alkylengruppen um 1.
Vorzugsweise enthält das Polyalkylenpolyamin 3 bis 5 Amingruppen. Spezifische Beispiele für Polyalkylenpolyamine
sind Ethylendiamin, Diethylentriamin, Triethylentetramin, Propylendiamin, Tripropylentetramin, Tetraethylenpentamin,
Trimethylendiamin, Pentaethylenhexamin, Di-(trimethylen)triamin, Tri(hexamethylen)tetramin etc.
Andere Amine, die zur Herstellung des Alkenylsuccinimids
geeignet sind, das sich für die Erfindung eignet, sind die cyclischen Amine, wie Piperazin, Morpholin
sowie Dipiperazine.
Vorzugsweise entsprechen die Alkenylsuccinimide, die
in den erfindungsgemäßen Zubereitungen eingesetzt werden, der folgenden Formel:

b. Der "Alkylen"-Rest steht im wesentlichen für eine Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe, die bis zu ungefähr 8 Kohlenstoffatome
und vorzugsweise ungefähr 2 bis 4 Kohlenstoff atome, wie beschrieben, enthält.
c. A bedeutet eine Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe, eine aminsubstituierte
Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe oder Wasserstoff. Die Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe und die aminsubstituierten
Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen sind im allgemeinen die Alkyl-
und Amino-substituierten Alkylanaloga der vorstehend
beschreibenen Alkylen-Reste. Vorzugsweise steht A für
Wasserstoff.

Das Alkenylsuccinimid liegt in den erfindungsgemäßen
Schmierölzubereitungen in einer Menge vor, die dazu ausreicht, die borierten Fettsäureester gegenüber einer Hydrolyse
zu stabilisieren und als Dispergiermittel zu wirken und die Abscheidung von Verunreinigungen zu verhindern,
die in dem öl während des Betriebs des Motors gebildet werden.
Der Komplex, dessen genaue Struktur noch nicht bekannt ist, kann durch Umsetzung der borierten Fettsäureester

von Glycerin mit dem Succinimid bei einer Temperatur überhalb des Schmelzpunkts der Mischung der Reaktanten
sowie unterhalb der Zersetzungstemperatur oder in einem Verdünnungsmittel, in dem beide Reaktanten löslich sind,
gebildet werden. Beispielsweise können die Reaktanten in einem entsprechenden Verhältnis in Abwesenheit eines
Lösungsmittels unter Bildung eines homogenen Produktes vereinigt werden, das dann dem öl zugesetzt werden kann,
oder die Reaktanten können in einem entsprechenden Verhältnis in einem Lösungsmittel, wie Toluol oder Chloroform,
vereinigt werden, worauf das Lösungsmittel abgestrippt wird und der dabei gebildete Komplex dem Öl zugesetzt
werden kann. Wahlweise kann der Komplex in einem Schmieröl als Konzentrat hergestellt werden, das ungefähr
10 bis 90 Gew.-% des Komplexes enthält, wobei das Konzentrat in entsprechenden Mengen dem Schmieröl zugesetzt
werden kann, in dem es verwendet werden soll, oder der Komplex kann direkt in dem Schmieröl, welchem er
zugesetzt werden soll, hergestellt werden.
Das Verdünnungsmittel ist vorzugsweise gegenüber den Reaktanten und den gebildeten Produkten inert und wird
in einer Menge verwendet, die dazu ausreicht, eine Unlöslichkeit der Reaktanten zu gewährleisten und die Mischung
in wirksamer Weise rühren zu können.
Temperaturen zur Herstellung des Komplexes können zwischen 25 und 2 000C und vorzugsweise zwischen 25 und 100°C liegen,
und zwar in Abhängigkeit davon, ob der Komplex isoliert oder in einem Verdünnungsmittel hergestellt wird,
d. h. tiefere Temperaturen können verwendet werden, wenn ein Lösungsmittel verwendet wird.
Das Gew.-%-Verhältnis des Succinimids zu dem boratierten
Fettsäureester von Glycerin unter Bildung des Komplexes
liegt zwischen 0,5:1 und 3:1 und vorzugsweise zwischen 1:1 und 2:1 und in ganz besonders bevorzugter Weise
bei 1:1. Dieses letztere Verhältnis wird bevorzugt, wenn der Komplex in Abwesenheit von Lösungsmittel oder
Schmieröl sowie unter atmosphärischen Bedingungen hergestellt und/oder gelagert werden soll.
Die Menge des Additivs, die zur wirksamen Herabsetzung der Reibung in den Schmierölzubereitungen erforderlich
ist, kann zwischen 0,3 und ungefähr 10 Gew.-.;, der gesamten
Schmierölzubereitung schwanken und liegt vorzugsweise in einer Menge zwischen 1 und 5 Gew.-% vor. Das Succinimid
liegt in dem erfindungsgemäßen Komplex in einer
Menge vor, die in wirksamer Weise die borierten Ester gegenüber einer Hydrolyse zu stabilisieren vermag und
es den borierten Estern gestattet, als wirksame Reibungsverminderungsmittel
zu dienen.
Das Succinimid in dem Komplex dient ferner als Dispergiermittel
und verhindert die Abscheidung von Verunreinigungen, die in dem ÖL während des Betriebs des Motors
gebildet werden.
Im allgemeinen können die Komplexe gemäß vorliegender Erfindung auch in Kombination mit anderen Additivsystemen
in herkömmlichen Mengen für ihren bekannten Zweck eingesetzt werden.
Beispielsweise wird für einen Einsatz in modernen Kurbelgehäuseschmiermitteln
die vorstehend beschriebene Zusammensetzung mit ergänzenden Additiven hergestellt, um
die erforderliche Stabilität, Detergenswirkung, Disporgierwirkung,
Antiabnutzungswirkung und Antikorrosionswirkung zu erreichen.

Gemäß einer anderen Ausführungsform der Erfindung können
die Schmieröle, denen die Komplexe zugesetzt werden, die durch Umsetzung1 der borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin
und mit Succinimiden hergestellt werden, ein Alkali-
b oder Erdalkalimetallhydrocarbylsulfonat, ein Alkali- oder
Erdalkalimetallphenat sowie ein Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphatsalz eines Metalls der Gruppe II enthalten.
Da ferner die Succinimide als ausgezeichnete Dispergiermittel wirken, kann weiteres Succinimid den Schmierölzubereitungen
zugesetzt werden, und zwar oberhalb der Mengen, die in Form des Komplexes mit den borierten Fettsäureestern
von Glycerin zugegeben werden. Die Menge der Succinimide kann bis zu ungefähr 20 Gew.-% der gesamten
Schmierölzubereitungen betragen.
Die Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetallhydrocarbylsulfonate
können entweder aus Petroleumsulfonat, synthetisch alkylierten
aromatischen Sulfonaten oder aliphatischen Sulfonaten,
wie sie beispielsweise auf Polyisobutylen zurückgehen, bestehen. Eine der wichtigeren Funktionen der Sulfonate
besteht darin, als Detergens und Dispergiermittel zu wirken. Diese Sulfonate sind bekannt. Die Kohlenwasserstoff
gruppe muß eine ausreichende Anzahl von Kohlen-. stoffatomen besitzen, damit das Sulfonatmolekül öllöslich
wird. Vorzugsweise besitzt der Kohlenwasserstoffanteil
wenigstens 20 Kohlenstoffatome und kann aromatisch oder aliphatisch sein, ist jedoch gewöhnlich alkylaromatisch.
Am meisten bevorzugt werden Kalzium-, Magnesium- oder Bariumsulfonate, die aromatischen Charakter besitzen.
Bestimmte Sulfonate werden in typischer Weise hergestellt durch Sulfonieren einer Erdölfraktion mit aromatischen
Gruppen, gewöhnlich Mono- oder Dialkylbenzolgruppen, woranf
das Metallsalz des Sulfonsäurematerials gebildet
wird. Andere Ausgangsmaterialien, die zur Herstellung dieser Sulfonate eingesetzt werden können, sind synthetisch
alkylierte Benzole und aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe,
hergestellt durch Polymerisation eines Mono- oder Diolefins, beispielsweise eine Polyisobutenylgruppe, hergestellt
durch Polymerisation von Isobuten. Die Metallsalze werden direkt oder durch doppelte Umsetzung unter
Anwendung bekannter Methoden hergestellt.
Die Sulfonate können neutral oder überbasisch sein und
Basezahlen bis zu ungefähr 400 oder darüber besitzen. Kohlendioxid und Kalziumhydroxid oder -oxid sind die am
häufigsten eingesetzten Materialien zur Herstellung der basischen oder überbasischen Sulfonate. Mischungen aus
neutralen und überbasischen Sulfonaten können verwendet werden. Die Sulfonate werden gewöhnlich in der Weise
eingesetzt, daß sie 0,3 bis 10 Gew.-5, der gesamten Zubereitung
ausmachen. Vorzugsweise liegen die neutralen Sulfonate in einer Menge von 0,4 bis 5 Gew.-'s der Gesamtzubereitung
und die überbasischen Sulfonate in einer Menge von 0,3 bis 3 Gew.-% der Gesamtzubereitung vor.
Die Phenate, die erfindungsgemäß eingesetzt werden, sind
diejenigen herkömmlichen Produkte, bei denen es sich um die Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetallsalze von alkylierten
Phenolen handelt. Eine der Punktionen der Phenate besteht darin, als Detergens und Dispergiermittel zu wirken.
Unter anderem verhindern sie die Abscheidung von Verunreinigungen, die während des Hochtemperaturbetriebes
der Motoren gebildet werden. Die Phenole können mono- oder polyalkyliert sein.
Der Alkylteil des AlkyLphenats liegt vor, um das Phenat
Öllöslich zu machen. Der Alkylteil kann aus natürlich
vorkommenden oder synthetischen Quellen erhalten werden.

Natürlich vorkommende Quellen sind Petroleumkohlenwasserstoffe, wie White Oil, und Wachs. Bei einem Zurückgehen
auf Erdöl; ist der Kohlenwasserstoffanteil eine Mischung aus verschiedenen Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen,
wobei die spezifische Zusammensetzung von dem jeweiligen Ölmaterial abhängt, das als Ausgangsmaterial verwendet
wird. Geeignete synthetische Quellen sind verschiedene im Handel verfügbare Alkene und Alkanderivate, die bei
einer Umsetzung mit dem Phenol ein Alky!phenol liefern.
Geeignete erhaltene Reste sind Butyl, Hexyl, Octyl,
Cetyl, Dodecyl, Hexadecyl, Eicosyl, Tricontyl oder dgl. Andere geeignete synthetische Quellen für den Alkylrest
sind Olefinpolymere, wie Polypropylen, Polybutylen,
Polyisobutylen oder dgl.
Die Alkylgruppeι kann geradkettig oder verzweigt, gesättigt
oder ungesättigt sein (falls sie ungesättigt ist, enthält sie vorzugsweise nicht mehr als 2 und im
allgemeinen nicht mehr als 1 Stelle einer olefinischen Unsättigung). Die Alkylreste enthalten im allgemeinen
4 bis 3 0 Kohlenstoffatome. Im allgemeinen sollte dann,
wenn das Phenol monoalkylsubstituiert ist, der Alkylrest wenigstens 8 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. Das Phenat
kann gegebenenfalls sulfuriert sein. Es kann entweder
neutral oder überbasisch sein. Ist es überbasisch, dann besitzt es eine Basezahl von bis zu 200 bis 300 oder
darüber. Mischungen aus neutralen oder überbasischen Phenaten können verwendet werden.
Die Phenate liegen gewöhnlich in dem öl in einer Menge von 0,2 bis 27 Gew.-% der Gesamtzubereitung vor. Vorzugsweise
liegen die neutralen Phenate in einer Menge von 0,2 bis 9 Gew.-% der Gesamtzubereitung und die überbasischen
Phenate in einer Menge von 0,2 bis 13 Gew.-% der Gesamtzubereitung vor. Insbesondere liegen die über-
basischen Phenate in einer Menge von Ü,2 bis 5 Oew.-'
der Gesamtzubereitung vor. Bevorzugte Metalle sind Kalzium, Magnesium, Strontium oder Barium.
Die sulfurierten ErdalkalimetallalkyIphenate wenden bevorzugt.
Diese Salze werden erhalten nach einer Vielzahl von Verfahren, beispielsweise durch Behandeln des
Neutralisationsproduktes einer Erdalkalimetallbase und eines Alkylphenols mit Schwefel. In zweckmäßiger Weise
wird der Schwefel in elementarer Form dem Neutralisationsprodukt zugesetzt und bei erhöhten Temperaturen
umgesetzt, um das sulfurierte Erdalkalimetallalkylphenat
zu erzeugen.
Wird weitere Erdalkalimetallbase während der Neutralisation
zugesetzt als erforderlich ist, um das Phenol zu neutralisieren, dann wird ein basisches sulfuriertes
Erdalkalimetallalkylphenat erhalten (vgl. beispielsweise das Verfahren von Walker et al., das in der US-PS
2 680 096 beschrieben wird). Eine weitere Basizität kann erhalten werden durch Zugabe von Kohlendioxid zu dem
basischen sulfurierten Erdalkalimetallalkylphenat. Der Überschuß an Erdalkalimetallbase kann anschließend an
die Sulfurierungsstufe zugesetzt werden, wird jedoch in
zweckmäßiger Weise gleichzeitig wie die Erdalkalimetallbase zur Neutralisation des Phenols zugesetzt.
Kohlendioxid und Kalziurahydroxid oder -oxid sind die
am häufigsten verwendeten Materialien zur Herstellung der basischen oder "überbasischen" Phenate. Ein Verfahren,
bei dessen Durchführung sulfurierte Erdalkalimetallalkylphenate durch Zugabe von Kohlendioxid erzeugt
werden, werden in der US-PS 3 178 3 68 beschrieben.
Die Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphorsäuresalze der Metalle
der Gruppe II bedingen Antiabrieb-, Antioxidations- sowie

thermische Stabilitätseigenschaften. Die Phosphordithiosäuresalze
von Metallen der Gruppe II sind bereits bekannt (vgl. beispielsweise die US-PS 3 390 080, Spalten
6 und 7, wo dies'e Verbindungen in ihrer Herstellung allgemein
erläutert werden). In geeigneter Weise enthalten die Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphorsauresalze von Metallen
der Gruppe II, die in den erfindungsgemäßen Schmierölzubereitungen
geeignet sind, ungefähr 4 bis ungefähr 12 Kohlenstoffatome in jedem der Kohlenwasserstoffreste, die
gleich oder verschieden und aromatisch, Alkyl oder Cycloalkyl sein können. Bevorzugte Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen
sind Alkylgruppen, die 4 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten, beispielsweise Butyl, Isobutyl, sec.-Butyl, Hexyl,
Isohexyl, Octyl, 2-Ethylhexyl oder dgl. Die Metalle,
die zur Bildung dieser Salze geeignet sind, sind beispielsweise Barium, Kalzium, Strontium, Zink und Cadmium,
wobei Zink bevorzugt wird.
Vorzugsweise entspricht das Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphorsäuresalz
eines Metalls der Gruppe II der folgenden Formel :
worin bedeuten:
e. R„ und R., jeweils unabhängig voneinander Kohlenwasserstoffreste,
wie vorstehend beschrieben, und f. M. ein Metallkation der Gruppe II, wie beschrieben.
Das Dithiophosphorsäuresalz liegt in den erfindungsgemäßen
Schmierölzubereitungen in einer Menge vor, die dahingehend wirksam ist, daß ein Abrieb und eine Oxidation
des Schmieröls verhindert werden. Die Menge schwankt
zwischen ungefähr 0,1 und ungefähr 4 Gew.--1. der gesamten
Zubereitung, vorzugsweise liegt das Salz in einer Menge vor, die zwischen ungefähr 0,2 und ungefähr 2,5 Gew.-%,
bezogen auf die gesamte Schmierölzubereitung, schwankt.
Die fertige Schmierölzubereitung enthält gewöhnlich 0,025
bis 0,25 Gew.-% Phosphor und vorzugsweise 0,05 bis 0,15
Gew.-%.
Das fertige Schmieröl kann ein Eingrad- oder Multigradöl sein. Multigradschmieröle werden hergestellt durch
Zugabe von Viskositätsindexverbesserungsmitteln (VI-Verbesserungsmitteln)
. Typische Viskositätsindexverbesserungsmittel sind Polyalkylmethacrylate, Ethylen/Propylen-Copolymere,
Styrol/Dien-Copolymere oder dgl. Sogenannte ausgezeichnete (decorated) Vl-Verbesserungsmittel mit
sowohl Viskositätsindex- als auch Dispergiermitteleigenschaften sind ebenfalls für eine Verwendung in den erfindungsgemäßen
Formulierungen geeignet.
Da-s Schmieröl, das in den erfindungsgemäßen Zubereitungen
eingesetzt wird, kann ein Mineralöl oder ein synthetisches öl mit Schmierviskosität sein und ist vorzugsweise
für eine Verwendung im Kurbelgehäuse eines Ottomotors geeignet. Kurbelgehäuseschmieröle besitzen im allgemeinen
eine Viskosität von ungefähr 1300 cst bei -18°C bis 22,7 cst bei 99°C. Die Schmieröle können auf synthetische
oder natürliche Quellen zurückgehen. Mineralöl für eine Verwendung als Grundöl gemäß vorliegender Erfindung
besteht beispielsweise aus einem paraffinischen, naphthenisehen
oder einem anderen Öl, wie es in herkömmlicher Weise in Schmierölzubereitungen verwendet wird. Synthetische
öle umfassen sowohl synthetische Kohlenwasserstofföle
als auch synthetische Ester. Geeignete synthetische Kohlenwasserstofföle sind flüssige Polymere von a-01ufinen
der entsprechenden Viskosität. Besonders geeignet
sind die hydrierten flüssigen Oligomeren von C,- ,. 2~a~
Olefinen, wie im 1-Decentrimeren. In ähnlicher Weise
können Alkylbenzole mit der entsprechenden Viskosität, wie Didodecylbenzol, verwendet werden. Geeignete syntheb
tische Ester sind die Ester von owohl Monocarbonsäuren als auch Polycarbonsäuren sowie von Monohydroxyalkanolen
und Polyolen. Typische Beispiele sind Didodecyladipat,
Pentaerythrittetracaproat, Di-2-ethylhexyladipat, Dilaurylsebacat
oder dgl. Komplexe Ester, die aus Mischungen aus Mono- und Dicarbonsäuren sowie Mono- und Dihydroxyalkanolen
hergestellt werden, Können ebenfalls verwendet werden.
Mischungen aus Kohlenwasserstoffölen mit synthetischen
^5 Ölen sind ebenfalls geeignet. Beispielsweise liefern Mischungen
aus 10 bis 25 Gew.-% hydrierten 1-Decentrimeren mit 75 bis 90 Gew.-% 150 SUS (38°C) Mineralöl eine ausgezeichnete
Schmierölgrundlage.
2Q- Additivkonzentrate fallen auch in den Rahmen der Erfindung.
Sie bestehen gewöhnlich aus ungefähr 90 bis 10 Gew.-% eines Öls mit Schmierviskosität und ungefähr 10
bis 90 Gew.-% eines erfindungsgemäßen Komplexadditivs.
In typischer Weise enthalten die Konzentrate eine ausreichende Menge an Verdünnungsmittel, um sie leicht während
der Verschickung und Lagerung handhabbar zu machen. Geeignete Verdünnungsmittel für das Konzentrat sind alle
inerten Verdünnungsmittel, vorzugsweise öle mit Schmierviskosität, so daß das Konzentrat leicht mit Schmierölen
oQ zur Herstellung von Schmierölzubereitungen vermischt werden
kann. Geeignete Schmieröle, die als Verdünnungsmittel verwendet werden können, besitzen in typischer Weise
Viskositäten zwischen ungefähr 35 und ungefähr 500 Sayb'olt-Universal-Sekunden (SUS) bei 38°C, wobei jedoch
or auch ein Öl mit Schmierviskosität verwendet werden kann.

Andere Additive, die in der Formulierung vorliegen können, sind Rostinhibitoren, Schauminhibitoren, Korrosionsinhibitoren,
Metallentaktivatoren, den Gießpunkt herabsetzende Mittel, Antioxidationsmittel sowie eine Vielzahl anderer
bekannter Additive.
Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung, ohne
sie zu beschränken.
Zu einer Mischung, die 125,23 g Glyeerinmonooleat (45 bis 55 Gew.-%) und Glycerindioleat (55 bis 45 Gew.-.;) enthält,
werden 30,92 g Borsäure und 250 ml Xylol gegeben. Die Reaktionsmischung wird auf 99°C bis 141 C während
ungefähr 9,5 h unter Stickstoff sowie unter azeotropen Bedingungen gehalten. 17,6 ml Wasser werden mittels einer
Dean-Stark-Falle gesammelt. Das Reaktionsprodukt wird filtriert und auf einem Rotationsverdampfer unter Vakuum
auf 13 5°C zur Gewinnung von 128,3 5 g gestrippt. Analyse:
Bor 2,42 % und 2,52 %, Hydroxylzahl 32 mg KOH/g. Die Infrarotspektroskopieanalyse
des Produktes zeigt keine freie Glycerin-Typ-Hydroxylverstreckung, jedoch eine
starke BO-H-Bindung und praktisch keine B-O-B-Typ-Absorption.
Ölmischungen werden gemäß Tabelle I unter Verwendung von
CC 100N-Ö1 hergestellt, die 1 Gew.-« des borierten Glycorinoleats,
hergestellt gemäß Beispiel 1, enthalten, und zwar mit und ohne 0,66 Gew.-% Polyisobutonylsuccinimid,
gg hergestellt durch die Umsetzung von Polyisabuteny!bernsteinsäureanhydrid,
wobei das Zahlenmittel des Molekular-

das Tetraethylenpentamin in einem Molverhältnis Amin zu Anhydrid von 0,87 vorliegt).
150 ml jeweils des Grundöls und der Mischungen in einem 250-ml-Becher werden in eine Feuchtigkeitskammer, die
auf 3 8°C sowie unter einer relativen Feuchtigkeit von 90 % gehalten wird, eingebracht. Die Proben werden auf
ihre Trübung und auf ihre Sedimentation als Funktion der Zeit bewertet.

einem Molverhältnis Amin zu Anhydrid von 0,87 vorliegt) -Lösung in öl (CC 100N) werden zusammen unter Vermischen
auf einer heißen Platte bei 1700C während 0,5 h erhitzt.
δ 150 ml der Reaktionsmischung werden in einen 250-ml-ßecher
gegeben und in eine Feuchtigkeitskammer, die auf 3 8 C sowie unter einer relativen Feuchtigkeit von 9 0 "i
gehalten wird, gestellt. Ein 250 ml-Becher, der 150 ml nur des borierten Glycerinoleats und kein Succinimid
enthält, wird ebenfalls in die Feuchtigkeitskammer zu
Vergleichszwecken gestellt.
Das borierte Glycerinoleat hydrolysiert und bildet eine
Haut aus Borsäure auf seiner Oberfläche nach ungefähr 1 min in der Feuchtigkeitskammer. Das borierte Glycerinoleat/
Succinimid-Komplexmaterial bleibt klar und hell nach 1 Woche in der Feuchtigkeitskammer. Sogar nach 3 Wochen
erscheint nur eine Spur einer Trübung in der Probe, die den Komplex enthält.
Es werden Tests durchgeführt, welche die Verbesserung der TreibstoffWirtschaftlichkeit zeigen, welche durch
die Zugabe von Schmierölzubereitungen gemäß vorliegender Erfindung zu dem Kurbelgehäuse eines Automobilmotors
erhalten werden.
Zur Durchführung dieses Test wird ein 3 50 CID-Oldsmobilo-Motor
auf einem Dynamometer laufen gelassen. Ein Motorschmiersystem ist vorgesehen, um eine ausreichende Schmierung
des Motors zu gewährleisten, wobei das öl ohne Abstoppen des Motors ausgetauscht werden kann. Im Prinzip
wird ein Trockensumpfsystem mit einer äußeren Pumpe zum
Schmieren des Motors verwendet. Diese Pumpe ist durch
Ventile mit vier äußeren Sümpfen verbunden* Die Stellung der Ventile bestimmt das verwendete öl.
ö Dieser Test wird einige Male unter konstanten Bedingungen
mit dem Grundöl und dann mit dem gleichen öl, das 1,25, 1,50 und 2 Gew.-% der borierten Glycerinoleat/
Succinimid-Komplexe, hergestellt gemäß Beispiel 3, enthält, wiederholt. Der Prozentsatz der Treibstoffwirtschaftlichkeit
unter Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Verbindung im Vergleich zu dem Grundöl geht aus der
Tabelle II hervor.

Die Vergleiche im Falle des vorstehend beschriebenen Tests erfolgen mit Exxon 15 0N, das mit weiterem Öl vermischt
ist, welches 30 mMol/kg überbasisches Magnesiumhydrocarbylsulf onat, 2,5 % eines 44-gew. -?äigen Polyisobutenylsuccinimids
in ül (CC 100N), 20 mMol/kg überbasisches sulfuriertes Kaiζiumpolypropylenphenat, 16 mMol/kg Zinkdi(alkyl)dithiophosphat,
5,5 % eines aminierten PoIyethylen/Propylen/Dien-Basis-VI-Verbesserungsmittels
und 3 mMol/kg eines sulfurierten Molybdänsuccinimidkomplexes enthält.
Ferner sind formulierte Kurbelgehäuseöle, die jeweils 2 &".?. -% eines Succinimidkomplexes aus boriertem Glycerinmonotalgat,
boriertem Glycerinmonostearat und boriertem Glycerinmonolaurat anstelle des borierten GIy-

cerinoleat/Succinimid-Komplexes in den vorstehenden Formulierungen
enthalten, zur Verminderung des Treibstoffverbrauchs in einem Ottomotor wirksam.
Tests haben auch ergeben, daß der borierte Fettsäureester
von Glycerin/Succinimid-Komplexen gemäß vorliegender Erfindung keine nachteilige Wirkung auf den Ventilabrieb,
wie die Nockenscheibe und den Regulierstößel, ausübt, bestimmt nach dem standardisierten Sequenz-IIID-Test,
ferner keinen Abrieb des Nockenbuckels bedingt, bestimmt nach der standardisierten Sequenz-VD-Testmethode,
Phase 9-L (entsprechend dem ASTM-Test), wobei außerdem keine Korrosion des Rupfer/Blei-Lageis festgestellt wird.
Claims (21)
- PatentansprücheZusammensetzung aus einem Komplex, hergestellt durch Umsetzung eines borierten Fettsäureesters von Glycerin oder Mischungen davon mit einem Öllöslichen Alkyl- oder Alkenylsuccinimid .10
- 2. Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin ein boriertes Glycerinoleat ist oder aus Mischungen davon besteht, und das Succinimid ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid eines

Schmieröl aus einer größeren Menge eines Öls mit Schmierviskosität und einer zur Herabsetzung der Reibung wirksamen Menge eines Komplexes, hergestellt durch Umsetzung von(a) einem borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin oder Mischungen davon mit(b) einem öllöslichen Alkyl- oder Alkenylsuccinimid. 20
- 7. Schmieröl nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin aus einem borierten Glycerinoleat oder aus Mischungen davon besteht und das Succinimid ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid eines Polyalkylenpolyamins ist.
- 8. Schmieröl nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Succinimid ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid von Triethylentetramin oder ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid von Tetraethylenpentamin ist.
- 9. Schmieröl nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin eine Mischung ist, die 45 bis 55 Gew.-% boriertes Glycerinmonooleat und 55 bis 45 Gew.-% boriertes Glycerindioleat enthält.
- 10. Schmieröl nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin ein boriertes Glycerinmonooleat ist.
- 11. Verfahren zum Herabsetzen des TreibstoffVerbrauchs eines Ottomotors, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die sich bewegenden Oberflächaimit einer Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 6 behandelt werden.
- 12. Schmieröl nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es außerdem eine wirksame Menge jeweils eines der folgenden Bestandteile enthält:(1) eines Salzes eines Metalls der Gruppe II einer Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphorsäure,(2) eines neutralen oder überbasischen Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetallhydrocarbylsulfonats oder Mischungen davon,(3) eines neutralen oder überbasischen alkyliertenAlkali- oder Erdalkalimetallphenats oder Mischungen davon.
- 13. Schmieröl nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß(1) das Metallsalz der Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphorsäure aus einem Zinkdialkyldithiophosphat besteht, wobei die Alky!gruppe 4 bis 12 Kohlenstoff atome enthält,(2) das Metall des neutralen oder überbasischen Alka-Ii- oder Erdalkalimetallsulfcnats aus Kalzium,Magnesium, Barium oder Mischungen davon besteht, und(3) das Metall des neutralen oder überbasischen Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetallphenats aus Kalzium, Magnesium oder Barium besteht.
- 14. Schmierölformulierung nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß(1) das Metallsalz der Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphorsäure aus Zink-O,O-di(2-ethylhexyl)dithiophosphat, Zink-0,0-di(isobutyl/gemischt-primär-Hexyl)dithiophosphat oder Zink-0,0-di(see.-butyl/gemischt-sekundär-Hexy1)dithiophosphat besteht,(2) das Metallsalz des Sulfonats ein überbasisches Magnesium- oder Kalziumhydrocarbylsulfonat ist und(3) das Metallsalz des Phenats ein überbasisches sulfuriertes und monoalkyliertes Kalzium- oder Magnesiumphenat ist.
- 15. Verfahren zum Herabsetzen des TreibstoffVerbrauchs eines Ottomotors, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die sich bewegenden Oberflächen des Motors mit einer Zubereitung gemäß Anspruch 12 behandelt werden.
- 16. Schmierölkonzentrat aus 10 bis 90 Gew.-% einesSchmieröls und ungefähr 90 bis ungefähr 10 Gew.-% eines Komplexes, hergestellt durch Umsetzung von (a) einem borierten Fettsäureester von Glycerin oder einer Mischung davon mit(b) einem öllöslichen Alkyl- oder Alkenylsuccinimid.
- 17. Verfahren zum Stabilisieren eines borierten Fettsäureesters von Glycerin gegenüber einer Hydrolyse bei einer Verwendung in einem Schmieröl, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin mit einem öllöslichen Alkyl- oder Alkenylsuccinimid unter Bildung eines Komplexes umgesetzt wird, der gegenüber einer Hydrolyse stabil ist.
- 18. Verfahren nach Anspruch 17, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der eingesetzte borierte Fettsäureester von GIy-cerin ein boriertes Glycerinoleat oder eine Mischung davon ist und das verwendete Succinimid ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid eines Polyalkylenpolyamins ist.
- 19. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Succinimid ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid von Triethylentetramin oder ein Polyisobutenylsuccinimid von Tetraethylenpentamin ist.
- 20. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin eine Mischung ist, die 45 bis 55 Gew.-% boriertes Glycerinmonooleat und 55 bis 45 Gew.-% boriertes Glycerindioleat enthält.
- 21. Verfahren nach Anspruch 18, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der eingesetzte borierte Fettsäureester von Glycerin ein boriertes Glycerinmonooleat ist.
