Hydroxyalkylaminosulfonsäuren sind biochemisch wertvolle Substanzen und werden als Puflermiltcl vcr-45 wendet. Ferner werden sie aufgrund ihrer Oberflächenaktivität als Penetrationsmittel, Emulsionsstabilisatoren,
Antistatikmittel oder Pigmentdispergiermittel verwendet. Ferner dienen sie durch Ausnutzung der Reaktionsfähigkeit der darin enthaltenen Hydroxylgruppe als Reagentien für die Einführung eines Aminosulfonsäurerestes
in Polymerisate und Oligomere.
Für die Herstellung von Hydroxyalkylaminosulfonsäuren sind verschiedene Verfahren bekannt, von denen
50 die folgenden typischen Verfahren genannt seien:
1. Umsetzung eines Hydroxyalkylamins mit einem Metallsalz von halogenierter Alkylsulfonsäurc und
anschließende Entfernung des Metallhalogenids (Croatica Chemica Acta, 45 (1973) 523-524);
2. Umsetzung eines 1,2-Epoxyalkans mit einem Metallsalz von Aminoalkylsulfonsäure und anschließende

3. Umsetzung eines Hydroxyalkylamins mit einem Vinylsulfonsäureester und anschließende Hydrolyse (BE-PS 6 17 781).

Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Hydroxyalkylaminosulfonsüuren der Formel (I)
N-CH2-CH-SO3H (I)
zur Verfugung zu stellen, in der R| ein C1 -C20-Hydroxyalkylrest, der gegebenenfalls — O — in der Alkylkette
enthält, RJ ein Wasserstoffatom, ein Ci-Qo-Hydroxyalkylrest, dergegebenenfalls—O— in der Alkylkette enthält,
ein niederer Alkylresi oder eine Gruppe der Formel
-CH2-CH—SO3H
und R1 ein Wasserstoffatom oder eine Methylgruppe bedeutet, und so die gewünschte Hydroxyalkylaminosulfonsäure
in ausgezeichneter Ausbeute ohne die bei den genannten üblichen Verfahren vorhandenen Nachteile
erhalten wird.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß man als Edukte für das Herstellungsverfahren ein
Hydroxyalkylamin der Formel

oder ein niederer Alkylrest ist, mit einem Alkalisalz einer ^-ungesättigten Sulfonsäure der Formel

in der M ein Alkalimetall ist, und in den Formel II und HI R1 und R3 die vorstehend genannte Bedeutung haben,
in Wasser oder seinem Gemisch mit einem mit Wasser mischbaren organischen Lösungsmittel bei einer Temperatur
von 0° bjs 1500C während einer Zeit von 10 Minuten bis 48 Stunden bei Normaldruck oder erhöhtem
Druck umsetzt, wobei das Molverhältnis der Hydroxyalkylaminverbindung (H) zu dem Alkalisalz der ^-ungesättigten
Sulfonsäure (III) 1 : 1 bis 1:2 beträgt, und anschließend das Alkalimetall entfernt.

Diese Hydroxyalkylaminverbindungen können beispielsweise durch Umsetzung einer Oxysilanvcrbindung mit
Ammoniak oder einem primären Amin hergestellt werden.
Als Alkalisalze von ffjj-ungesättigten Sulfonsäuren (III) eignen sich beispielsweise die Alkalisalze (z. B. das
Natrium-, Kalium- und Lithiumsalz) von Vinylsulfonsäure und Isopropenylsulfonsäure.
austauscherharz behandelt, wodurch das Alkalisalz in die freie Säure umgewandelt wird.
Die in dieser Weise gebildete Hydroxyalkylaminsulfonsäure (I) kann nach üblichen Trennverfahren, z. B.
Einengung, Umkristallisation und Fällung mit Lösungsmitteln, isoliert werden.
Wie die verstehende Beschreibung zeigt, ist die Hydroxyslkylaminosuifonsäur? (!) durch liinfarhe Arheitsgänge leicht erhältlich. Dieses Verfahren hat den Vorteil, daß die Hydroxyalkylaminosulfonsäure (I) in aus
gezeichneter Ausbeute erhalten wird.
Praktische und zur Zeit bevorzugte Ausführungsformen der Erfindung werden durch die folgenden Beispiele
veranschaulicht. In diesen Beispielen beziehen sich die Mengenangaben in Teilen und Prozentsätzen auf das
Gewicht.

In ein mit Rührer versehenes Reaktionsgefäß wurden 100 Teile 'ntionisiertes Wasser und 61 Teile Äthanolamin gegeben. Die Temperatur wurde auf 800C erhöht. Eine Lösung von 130 Teilen Natriumvinylsulfonat in 390
Teilen entionisiertem Wasser wurde unter Rühren innerhalb von 30 Minuten zugelropft. Nach erfolgter Zugabe
wurde noch weitere 24 Stunden gerührt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde dann mit entionisiertem Wasser auf 2000
Teile verdünnt und das verdünnte Gemisch wurde durch Kationenaustauscherharz (»Ambcüte IR-121«) geleitet. Das Eluat wurde durch Erhitzen eingedampft. Der Rückstand wurde aus Äthanol umkristallisiert, wobei 155
Teile weiße Kristalle erhalten wurden (Ausbeute 92%). Fp. 1600C.
Die Analyse mit Hilfe der NMR- und IR-Spektren ergab, daß die in dieser Weise erhaltene Verbindung die folgende Struktur hatte:

In ein Reaktionsgefäß wurden 105 Teile Diethanolamin und 100 Teile entionisiertes Wasser gegeben. Die
Temperatur wurde auf 800C erhöht. Innerhalb von 30 Minuten wurden 130 Teile Natriumvinylsulfonat und 390
Teile entionisiertes Wasser zugetropft, worauf die Reaktion 24 Stunden fortgesetzt wurde. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf die in Beispiel 1 beschriebene Weise aufgearbeitet, wobei 191 Teile weiße Kristalle erhallen
wurden. Ausbeute 90%. Fp. 154°C.

Das NMR-Spektrum dieser Verbindung ist in Fig. 2 dargestellt.
Beispiel 3
In ein Reaktionsgefäß wurden 260 Teile Natriumvinylsulfonat und 780 Teile entionisiertes Wasser gegeben.
Nach Erhöhung der Temperatur auf 800C wurde eine Lösung von 61 Teilen Äthanolamin in 100 Teilen entionisiertem Wasser innerhalb von 30 Minuten zugetropft Die Reaktion wurde 48 Stunden fortgesetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf die in Beispiel I beschriebene Weise aufgearbeitet, wobei 223 Teile weiße Kristalle
erhalten wurden. Ausbeute 81%. Fp. 134°C.

In ein Reaktionsgefaß wurden 75 Teile 2-Methylaminoäthanol und 100 Teile entionisiertes Wasser gegeben.
Nach Erhöhung der Temperatur auf 8O0C wurde eine Lösung von 130 Teilen Natriumvinylsulfonat in 390 Teilen
entionisiertem Wasser innerhalb von 30 Minuten zugetropft. Die Reaktion wurde 24 Stunden fortgesetzt. Das
Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf die in Beispiel 1 beschriebene Weise aufgearbeitet, wobei 166 Teile weiße Kristalle
erhallen wurden. Ausbeute 91%. Fp. 157°C. Die in dieser Weise erhaltene Verbindung hatte laut Analyse die fol- is

!n ein Reaktionsgefäß wurden 121 Teile Tris(hydroxymethyl)-aminomethan und 100 Teile entionisiertes Wasser gegeben. Nach Erhöhung der Temperatur auf 900C wurde eine Lösung von 130 Teilen Natriumvinylsulfonat
in 390 Teilen entionisiertem Wasser innerhalb von 30 Minuten zugetropft. Die Reaktion wurde 48 Stunden fortgesetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf die in Beispiel 1 beschriebene Weise aufgearbeitet, wobei 172 Teile
we:«e Kristalle erhalten wurden. Ausbeute 75%. Fp. 224°C. Die Analyse ergab, daß die in dieser Weise erhaltene
Verbindung die folgende Struktur hatte:

In ein Reaktionsgefäß wurden 77 Teile l-Arnino-2-propanol und 100 Teile entionisiertes Wasser gegeben.
Nach Erhöhung der Temperatur auf 800C wurde eine Lösung von 130 Teilen Natriumvinylsulfonat in 390 Teilen
entionisiertem Wasser innerhalb von 30 Minuten zugetropft. Die Reaktion wurde 48 Stunden fortgesetzt. Das
Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf die in Beispiel 1 beschriebene Weise aufgearbeitet, wobei 140 Teile weiße Kristalle
erhalten wurden. Ausbeute 77%. Fp. 156°C. Die in dieser Weise erhaltene Verbindung hatte laut Analyse die folgcnde Struktur:
In ein Reaktionsgefäß wurden 302 Teile 2-Aminooctadecandiol-l,3,500 Teile Äthylcellosolve und 310 Teile
entionisiertes Wasser gegeben. Nach Erhöhung der Temperatur auf 900C wurde eine Lösung von 130 Teilen
Natriumvinylsulfonat in 390 Teilen entionäsiertem Wasser in 1 Stunde zugetropft. Die Reaktion wurde 48 Stunden fortgesetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde zur Entfernung des Lösungsmittels eingeengt und die öllösliche
Komponente mit Azeton extrahiert Die hierbei erhaltene feste Komponente wurde mit Salzsäure neutralisiert,
wobei 360 Teile eines in Wasser unlöslichen weißen Pulvers erhalten wurden. Ausbeute 88%. Fp. 152°C. Die
Analyse mit Hilfe des NMR-Spektrums ergab, daß die in dieser Weise erhaltene Verbindung die folgende Struktür hatte:

In ein mit Rührer versehenes Reaktionsgefäß wurde eine 25%ige Methanollösung von Ammoniak (340 Teile)
gegeben. Innerhalb von 2 Stunden wurden 65 Teile Butylglycidyläther unter Rühren zugetropft, während die
5 Temperatur bei 100C gehalten wurde. Anschließend wurde weitere 6 Stunden gerührt. Die Temperatur wurde
dann erhöht, und nicht umgesetztes Ammoniak und Methanol wurden entfernt. Nach Zusatz von 300 Teilen
Äthylenglykolmonoäthyliither und 100 Teilen entionisiertem Wasser wurde die Temperatur unter Rühren auf
700C erhöht. Eine Lösung von 65 Teilen Natriumvinylsulfonat in 200 Teilen entionisertem Wasser wurde in
1 Stunde z'igstropft, worauf weitere 3 Stunden gerührt wurde. Das Reaktiosgemisch wurde durch Eindampfen
iü eingeengt und mit Azeton extrahiert. Die hierbei erhaltene feste Komponente wurde mit Salzsäure neutralisiert,
wobei 85 Teile eines im Wasser unlöslichen weißen Pulvers erhalten wurden. Fp. 1570C. Die Analyse mit Hilfe
des NMR-Spektrums ergab, daß die in dieser Weise erhaltene Verbindung die folgende Struktur hatte:

20 Der in Beispiel 8 beschriebene Versuch wurde wiederholt, wobei jedoch eine 40%igc Mciimnoilösung von
Methylamin (155 Teile) anstelle der Methanollösung von Ammoniak und eine Lösung von 92 Teilen Dodeccnoxyd in 100 Teilen Athylenglykolmonoäthylather anstelle von Butylglycidyläther verwendet wurden. Hierbei
wurden 89 Teile eines weißen Pulvers erhalten. Fp. 149°C. Die Analyse mit Hilfe des NMR-Spektrums ergab,
daß die in dieser Weise erhaltene Verbindung die folgende Struktur hatte:

- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung von Hydroxyalkylaminosulfonsäuren der Forme! S R, R3\ IN-CH2-CH-SO3H (I)R^in der R, ein C, -C^n-Hydroxyalkylrest, der gegebenenfalls—O—in der Alkylkette enthält, Ri ein Wasserstoffatom, ein C,-C2ii-Hydroxyalkylrest, der gegebenenfalls — O— in der Alkylkette enthält, ein niederer Alkylrest oder eine Gruppe der Formel
