Die Erfindung betrifft eine neue Verbindung die als Parfümkomponente
brauchbar ist. Insbesondere betrifft die Erfindung 4-Hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexen-2-on-1, das als Parfümkomponente
brauchbar ist.
Erfindungsgemäß wird 4-Hydroxy-4-raethylcyclohexen-2-on-1 mit
der folgenden Formel (I) vorgesehen:

4-Hydro3cy-4--methyl-cyclohexen~2-on-1 mit der vorstehenden
Formel (I) (nachstehend "Verbindung (I)" gemäß der Erfindung) ist in reinem Zustand eine Substanz mit einem phenolartigen
Geruch oder einem Geruch nach Viehgehege. Wenn jedoch die Verbindung
(I) stark verdünnt wird, verleiht sie einen Duft, der organoleptisch als warm und süß empfunden wird. Es wurde festgestellt, daß beim Vermischen von Verbindung (I). mit anderen
Parfümkomponenten in einer Parfümzusammensetzung in einer Menge von etwa 2 bis etwa 15 ppm, vorzugsweise 5 bis 10 ppm,
günstige Ergebnisse erhalten werden können, die organoleptisch leicht angesprochen werden können. Wenn z.B. Verbindung (I)
gemäß der Erfindung mit verschiedenen synthetischen ätherischen
Ölen gemischt wird, z.B. mit Petigrainöl, Lavandinöl, Lavendelöl,
Orangenöl, ZitronenÖl, Bergamottöl, Pfefferminzöl, Speerminzöl,
wird die Natürlichkeit des Dufts der Mischung merklich verbessert. Wenn ferner Verbindung (I) mit anderen Parfümkomponenten
für z.B. Parfüme , Seifen oder Nahrungsmittel gemischt wird, kann sie gleichfalls einen Duft verleihen, der organoleptisch
als warm und süß empfunden wird.
Verbindung (I) gemäß der Erfindung kann z.B. nach dem folgenden
Reaktionsschema hergestellt werden:

In dem vorstehenden Reaktionsschema kann B"-(p-methylphenyl)-hydroxylamin
(III) aus p-Fitrοtoluol (II) unter Anwendung der
ITitrobenzolreduktionsmethode gemäß H. Gilman, Organic Syntheses,
Sammelband 1, 2. Aufl., S. 445-447 (1961), John tfiley & Sons,
Inc., IT.Y., oder Y. Ogata et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc, 86, G.
3854-3358 (1964) erhalten werden. Z.B. wird 1 Mol p-Itttrotoluol
(H) mit 2 Mol Zinkstaub in einer Lösung von 1 Mol Ammoniumchlorid reduziert; das resultierende Produkt wird aus einer
Benzol/Petroläther-Mischung unter Herstellung von Verbindung (III) mit einem FP. von 94 0C umkristallisiert. Danach wird
Verbindung (III) mit einer 5 ^-igen wässerigen Schwefelsäurelösung
unter Kühlen auf etwa O 0C z.B. gemäß der Methode von
S. Goodwin et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc, 79, S. 179-185 (1957) behandelt. Mach dem Extrahieren des resultierenden Produkts
mit Chloroform wird das so erhaltene Konzentrat mit einer Diäthyläther/Benzol-Mischung auf einer chromatographischen
Silicagelsäule gereinigt, wobei man reines p-Toluchinol (IV)
mit einem PP. .von 76 bis 78 0C erhält. Verbindung (IV) wird
danach partiell in Äthylalkohol mit einem Palladiumkatalysator (5 % Pd/C) bei Baumtemperatur (z.B. ca. 20 bis 30 0C) unter
einem Wasserstoffdruck von 1 Atm partiell hydriert, wobei man Verbindung
(I) mit einem KP. von 101,5 bis 109,5 °C/2 mm Hg erhält.
Nachstehend wird die Erfindung durch Beispiele näher erläutert. Soweit nichts anderes angegeben ist, sind alle Teil-, Prozent-
und Verhältnisangaben auf Gewichtsbasis ausgedrückt.
Die folgenden Herstellungsbeispiele sollen repräsentative Beispiele von Parfümen erläutern, für die Verbindung (I) gemäß
der Erfindung verwendet werden kann.
Herstellungsbeispiel 1
Es wurden 0,01 g (10 ppm) der Verbindung (I) gemäß der Erfin
dung zu 1000 g synthetischem Lavandinöl gemäß dem Ansatz der
folgenden Tabelle 1 zugegeben.

Als Ergebnis einer organoleptischen Bewertung mit 10 Testpersonen
bestätigten alle 10 Testpersonen, daß der natürliche Duft der resultierenden Parfümsusammensetzung im Vergleich
mit derselben Parfümsusammensetzung ohne Zugabe der Verbindung
(I) gemäß der .Erfindung merklich verbessert worden war.
Herstellungsbeispiel 2
Es wurden 0,005 g (5 ppm) der Verbindung (I) gemäß der Erfindung zu 1000 g synthetischem Pfefferminzöl gemäß dem Ansatz
der folgenden Tabelle 2 zugegeben.

Als Ergebnis einer organoleptischen Bewertung durch 10 Testpersonen
bestätigten alle 10 Testpersonen, daß der natürliche Duft der resultierenden Parfümzusammensetzung gegenüber derselben
Parfümzusammensetzung ohne Verbindung (I) gemäß der Erfindung merklich verbessert worden war.
(i) Herstellung von p-Toly!hydroxylamin
Es wurden 281 g (2,05 Mol) p-lTitrotoluol, 125 g (2,35 Mol)
Ammoniumchlorid und 4 1 Wasser in einen 10 1 Reaktionskolben
gegeben. Es wurden 310 g (4,74 Mol) Zinkstaub bei Raumtemperatür (d.h. etwa 20 bis 30 0C) in 15 niin unter Rühren der
Mischung zugegeben; die Mischung wurde weitere 30 min lang gerührt. In diesem Fall wurde die Temperatur des Reaktionssystems auf 65 bis 70 0C unter Rühren erhöht. Danach wurde
die Reaktionsmischung abfiltriert; das Filtrat wurde mit

!Natriumchlorid gesättigt. Man ließ das Filtrat an einem kalten
Platz 24 h stehen. Die ausgefällten Kristalle wurden abfiltriert und aus 1 1 einer Benzol/Petroläther-Hischung (1:1 auf Volumenbasis)
umkristallisiert; man erhielt 50 g p-Toly!hydroxylamin.
(ii) Herstellung von p-Toluchinol
Es wurden 50 g p-Tolylhydroxylamin aus Stufe (i) portionsweise
zu 1 1 einer wässerigen 5 $-igen Schwefelsäurelösung, die auf 0 C mit einem Eis/NaCl-Bad gekühlt worden war, in
etwa 15 min gegeben, wobei die Mischung langsam gerührt wurde, !fach Vervollständigung der Zugabe wurde das Eis/FaCl-Bad entfernt;
die Mischung wurde langsam bei Raumtemperatur (d.h. etwa 20 bis 30 0C) 12 h gerührt. Die Reäktionsmischung wurde
abfiltriert; das Filtrat wurde mit 1 1 Chloroform extrahiert. Das Chloroform wurde vom Extrakt abdestilliert; man erhielt
300 g eines Konzentrats. Dieses Konzentrat wurde danach auf einer Silikagelsäule chromatographiert und mit einer Diäthyläther/Benzol-Mischung
(1:1 auf Yolumenbasis) eluiert; man erhielt eine Fraktion. Die so erhaltene Fraktion wurde konzentriert,
so daß man 15 g p-Toluchinol erhielt.
(iii) Herstellung von 4-Hydroxy-4-methylcyclohexen-2-on-1
Es wurden 50 g p-Toluchinol aus der Stufe (ii) in 50 g Äthylalkohol
gelöst. Die Mischung wurde mit einem Katalysator ( 5 c/o Palladium auf Kohlenstoff) hydriert, wobei die Mischung
bei Raumtemperatur unter einem Wasserstoffdruck von 1 Atm geschüttelt wurde. Als 80 <?» der theoretisch zur Hydrierung erforderlichen
Wasserstoffmenge bis zu einer Menge von 0,5 Mol
absorbiert worden waren, wurde die Reaktion abgebrochen. Fach dem Abfiltrieren des Katalysators wurde der Rückstand unter
reduziertem Druck destilliert; man erhielt 47 g einer Fraktion mit einem KP. von 101,5 bis 109,5 °C/2 mm Hg. Diese
Fraktion war eine farblose Flüssigkeit und besaß die folgenden Eigenschaften.

"Verfahren zur Herstellung der "Verbindung gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man p-Nitrotoluol (II) zu N-(p-methylphenyl)-hydroxylamin (III) reduziert, die Verbindung (III) in einem sauren wäßrigen Medium zu p-Toluchinol (IV) umsetzt und die Verbindung (IV) zu ^-Hydroxy-^-methylcyclohexen-2-on-1 (I) katalytisch partiell hydriert.
