Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein neues Verfahren zur selektiven Herstellung von monochlorierten oder monobro-20 mierten Ketonen.
chlorierten Ketonen durch Gasphasenchlorierung von Ketonen bekannt Diese Verfahren haben jedoch den
schwerwiegenden Nachteil, daß bei ihnen Überchlorierungen praktisch nicht zu vermeiden sind und deshalb
monochlorierte Ketone nur in schlechten Ausbeuten und unzureichender Reinheit erhältlich sind. Ein weiterer
25 Nachteil sind ihre langen Reaktionszeiten (schlechten Raum/Zeit-Ausbeuten).
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß sich die Herstellung der Monochlor- und Monobromketone wesentlich verbessern läßt, wenn man die Halogenierung nicht in der Gasphase, sondern in bestimmter Weise in der Flüssigphase
vornimmt Die Erfindung betrifft daher ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von ar-Monochlor- und «-Monobromketonen durch Umsetzung eines in «-Stellung halogenierbaren Ketons mit Chlor oder Brom in der Flüssigphase,
30 das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man das Keton in einem Verdampfungsgefäß, auf das ein Rohr aufgesetzt
ist, und das im oberen Teil zu einem Kondensator und im unteren Teil zu einer Kolonne ausgebildet ist und in
dessen Mitte sich der Reaktionsraum befindet, verdampft, den Dampf an dem Kondensator kondensiert, so daß
das Kondensat auf eine in den Reaktionsraum eingelassene Vorrichtung tropft und dort mit dem durch die
Vorrichtung eingeleiteten Halogen zu einem Reaktionsprodukt reagiert, welches durch das von dem Kondensa-35 tor tropfende Kondensat durch ein in die Kolonne eingelassenes Rohr in das Verdampfungsgefäß gespült wird.

Als Cycloalkylreste (R1 und R2) seien cyclische Kohlenwasserstoffreste mit 4 bis 12, bevorzugt mit 5 bis 8,
Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Cyclobutyl, Cyclopentyl, Cycloheptyl, Cyclooctyl und Cyclododecyl, genannt.
Als geradkettige oder verzweigte Alkenylreste (R1 und R2) seien ungesättigte Kohlenwasserstoffreste mit 2
bis 18, bevorzugt 2 bis 12, Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Athenyl, Propenyl, Isopropenyl, Butenyl, Isobutenyl, Pentenyl,
Isopentenyl, Hexenyl und Isohexenyl, genannt.
Als Cycloalkenylreste (R1 und2) seien cyclische einmal oder mehrmals ungesättigte Kohlenwasserstoffreste
mit 3 bis 12, bevorzugt 5 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Cyciopentyl, Cyclohexyl, Cycloheptenyl und Cyclooctyl,
genannt.
Als Arylreste (R1 und R2) seien aromatische Kohlenwaserstoffreste mit 6 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen, bevorzugt
Phenyl, Naphthyl und Anthranyl, genannt.
Gesättigte Kohlenwasserstoff ringe, die durch Verknüpfung der Reste R1 und R2 entstehen, können 3 bis 12
Ringglieder haben. Beispielsweise seien genannt: Cyclopropyl, Cyclobutyl, Cyclopentyl, Cyclohexyl, Cycloheptyl,
Cyclooctyl, Cyclononyl, Cycloundecyl und Cyclododecyl.
Ungesättigte Kohlenwasserstoffringe, die durch Verknüpfung der Reste R1 und R2 enstehen, können 3 bis 12
Ringglieder haben. Beispielsweise seien genannt: Cyclobutenyl, Cyclopentenyl, Cyclohexenyl, Cycloheptenyl,
Cyclooctenyl, Cyclodecenyl und Cyclododecenyl, Stickstoff, Sauerstoff oder Schwefel enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoffringe,
die durch Verknüpfung der Reste R1 und R2 entstehen, können 3 bis 12 Ringglieder haben.
Beispielsweise seien genannt: Perhydrofuryl, Perhydrothiophenyl, Perhydro-N-methyl-pyrryl und Perhydropyrryl.
Als Substituenten der Reste R1 und R2 kommen alle Substituenten in Frage, die unter den Reaktionsbedingungen
nicht verändert werden. Beispielsweise seien genannt: Niedere Alkylreste (Ci bis O), Aryl, Alkoxy (Ci bis
O), Aroxyl, Alkylthio (C; bis O), Halogen, insbesondere Chlor und Brom, Nitro und Cyano.
Beispielsweise seien die folgenden Ketone für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren genannt:
Aceton, Methylethylketon, Diäthylketon, Methylpropylketon, Äthylpropylketon, Isopropylpropylketon,

Halogene für das erfindunsgemäße Verfahren können Fluor, Chlor, Brom und Jod, bevorzugt Chlor und Brom,
sein.
Das erfindungsgeniäße Verfahren kann bei Unter-, Normal- oder Überdruck, vorzugsweise bei Normaldruck,
durchgeführt werden.
Für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren können wasserfreie Ketone verwendet werden. Wasserfreie Ketone
können beisDielsweise durch Andestillieren von technischen Ketonen erhalten werden.
In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens führt man die Umsetzung mit
wasserhaltigen Ketonen durch. Im allgemeinen kann man Ketone verwenden, die bis zu 20 Gew.-%, bevorzugt
von 0,01 bis 5 Gew.-%, Wasser enthalten.
In einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens führt man die Umsetzung
unter Ausschluß von Licht durch. Die Reaktionstemperatur im Reaktor kann bei —20 bis 1200C, bevorzugt
jedoch bei 50 bis 90°C liegen. Das Halogen wird nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren gasförmig in den
Reaktionsraum eingeleitet. Das Halogen kann ohne weitere Verdünnungsmittel eingesetzt werden. Es ist aber
auch möglich, das gasförmige Halogen mit Inertgasen, wie Stickstoff oder Argon, zu verdünnen. Der Anteil des
Verdünnungsmittels kann dann bis zu 90%, vorzugsweise bis zu 30—50%, des eingesetzten Gases betragen.
Als Vorrichtungen, die nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren in den Reaktionsraum eingelassen sind, kommen beispielsweise Einschnürungen des Reaktionsraumes in Frage, die bewirken, daß das Keton und das Halogen für eine kurze Zeit in Berührung kommen. Die Zeit soll bemessen sein, daß die gewünschte Reaktion völlig abläuft und aufgrund der sehr geringen Verweildauer aller Reaktionskomponenten nebeneinander Sekundärreaktionen fast nicht möglich sind und somit praktisch keine Nebenprodukte auftreten.
Als Vorrichtungen, die nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren in den Reaktionsraum eingelassen sind, kommen beispielsweise Einschnürungen des Reaktionsraumes in Frage, die bewirken, daß das Keton und das Halogen für eine kurze Zeit in Berührung kommen. Die Zeit soll bemessen sein, daß die gewünschte Reaktion völlig abläuft und aufgrund der sehr geringen Verweildauer aller Reaktionskomponenten nebeneinander Sekundärreaktionen fast nicht möglich sind und somit praktisch keine Nebenprodukte auftreten.
Eine Einschnürung des Reaktionsraumes für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kann beispielsweise zu einer in
den Reaktionsraum eingelassenen Vorrichtung ausgebildet sein, die an dem in dem Reaktionsraum befindlichen
Teil eine Vertiefung aufweist, in die durch eine Zuleitung das gasförmige Halogen zugeführt und dann umgesetzt
wird. Sie kann außerdem als Hohlkegel mit einer porösen Ringzone ausgebildet sein, durch die das gasförmige
Halogen in die darüberhinweglaufende dünne Flüssigkeitsschicht geführt und direkt zur Reaktion gebracht wird.
Es ist auch möglich, daß die Einschnürung für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren als Verengung im Reaktionsraum
zu einem Rohr ausgebildet ist, an dessen oberem, zu einem Trichter gestaltetem Teil sich der Gaseinlaß
befindet, durch den das gasförmige Halogen direkt durch ein Rohr, das gegebenenfalls mit einer Fritte versehen
ist, in das vom Kondensator rücklaufende heiße, etwas aufgestaute flüssige Keton eingeleitet und rasch umgesetzt
wird.
Für das erfindunsgemäße Verfahren wird das Rücklaufverhältnis gasförmiges Halogen/flüssiges Keton so
geregelt, daß das Halogen im Unterschuß vorliegt und sofort nach dem Austritt durch den Gaseinlaß durch
Reaktion völlig aufgebracht wird. Im allgemeinen führt man das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren mit einem
Rücklaufverhältnis von 1 bis 50 Mol bevorzugt 5 bis 20 Mol Keton pro Mol Halogen durch.
Die Wahl der günstigsten Einschnürung des Reaktionsraumes ist abhängig von der erforderlichen Berührungszeit
der Reaktionskomponenten. Falls die Berührungszeit sehr kurz ist, wird eine in den Reakiionsraum
eingelassene Vorrichtung bevorzugt, die zu einem Kegel ausgebildet ist. Bei längeren Reaktionszeiten kann es
vorteilhaft sein, Vorrichtungen zu verwenden, bei denen der in den Reaktionsraum eingelassene Teil zu einer
Vertiefung ausgebildet ist.
Ein weiteres Merkmal des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ist die Trennung des Reaktionsgemisches von dem
aufsteigenden Dampf des Ketons durch ein in die Kolonne eingelassenes Rohr. Als Kolonnen seien beispielsweise
Vigreux-, Füllkörper- und Glockenbödenkolonnen genannt Das in die Kolonne eingelassene Rohr kann im
allgemeinen die gleiche Füllung aufweisen wie die umgebende Kolonne.
Eine Ausführungsform des erfindunsgemäßen Verfahrens sei mit Hilfe der Fig. 1, 2 und 3, die mögliche

In einem Kolben (g) wird das flüssige Keton, gegebenenfalls in Gegenwart von Wasser, zum Sieden erhitzt
Das dampfförmige Keton steigt durch die Kolonne (f) und den Reaktionsraum (a) zum Kühler (i) und kondensiert
dort. Das Kondensat des Ketons läuft im Falle der F i g. 1 auf die Vertiefung (c)dev in den Reaktionsraum
eingelassenen Vorrichtung (b). Im Falle der A b b. 2 tropft das Keton auf die Spitze des Kegels (Jc), der in den
Reaktionsraum eingelassenen Vorrichtung (j). Im Falle der A b b. 3 läuft das Keton in den Trichter (n% der am
unteren Ende zu einem Rohr (o) ausgebildet ist, der in den Reaktionsraum eingelassenen Vorichtung (m).
Durch den Gaseinlaß (d, 1 oder p) der in den Reaktionsraum eingelassenen Vorrichtungen (b, j oder m) wird
das Halogen, das gegebenenfalls mit einem Inertgas wie Stickstoff oder Argon verdünnt sein kann, eingeleitet
und reagiert in der Vertiefung (ς/ oder auf dem Kegel (k) oder indem Rohr (o) mit dem Keton.
Durch weiter vom Kühler (i) nachlaufendes Keton wird das entstandene Monohalogenketon aus dem Reaktionsraum
faj gespült.
Das ablaufende Gemisch, das im wesentlichen aus dem entstandenen Monohalogenketon und nicht umgesetzten
Keton besteht fließt durch das in die Kolonne (f) eingelassene Rohr (e) und wird so von dem aufsteigenden
Dampf des Ketons getrennt nach unten geführt Das Gemisch fließt dann weiter in den Kolben (g), aus dem das
Keton wieder verdampft wird. Da das Monohalogenketon in der Regel einen höheren Siedepunkt als das Keton
hat, bleibt es im Kolben und kann nach Beendigung der Umsetzung in üblicher Weise, z. B. durch Destillation,
isoliert werden.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kann auch kontinuierlich durchgeführt werden, wobei die Ausgangsprodukte
im oberen Teil der Apparatur zugeführt und das Endprodukt dem Verdampfer entnommen wird.
Zur Herstellung der Apparatur für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren können praktisch alle üblichen Materialien
wie Glas, Quarz, Teflon und Stahl verwandt werden.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kann bei Unter-, Normal- oder Überdruck durchgeführt werden. Durch
Änderung des Druckes ist es leicht möglich, eine Komponente in dem vorteilhaftesten Aggregatzustand einzusetzen.

Nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren lassen sich Λ-Monohalogenketone mit großen Ausbeut?- "-:d
hohen Reinheiten herstellen.
Die nach dem erfindunsgemäßen Verfahren herstellbaren A-Monohalogenbutene können als Zwischenprodukte
zur Herstellung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln oder als Vulkanisationsbeschleuniger eingesetzt werden.
Beispiele A Reaktionsapparaturen
!n den folgenden Beispielen wird die in A b b. 1 dargestellte Reaktionsapparatur verwendet.
Die Apparatur besteht aus einem Verdampfungsgefäß (g), das das Keton und gegebenenfalls Wasser enthält.
Auf das Verdampfungsgefäß (g) ist eine mit Füllkörpern gefüllte Kolonne (f) aufgesetzt, in die ein leeres, sich
nach unten verjüngendes Rohr (e) eingelassen ist. Oberhalb der Kolonne (!) befindet sich der Reaktionsraum (a),
in den eine Vorrichtung (b) eingelassen ist, deren im Reaktionsraum befindlicher Teil zu einer Vertiefung (c)
ausgebildet ist.
Die Zuführung des Halogens erfolgt von außen durch den Einlaß (d) in die Vorrichtung (b) zu der Vertiefung
Zur Überprüfung der Reaktionstemperalur ist außerdem in dem Reaktionsraum (a) das Thermometer (h)
eingelassen.
Oberhalb des Reaktionsraumes ist der Kondensator (e) so angeordnet, daß die hier kondensierte flüssige
Komponente in die Vertiefung (c) tropfen kann.
B Umsetzung von Ketonen mit Halogenen in der Reaktionsapparatur nach A
Die Umsetzung sei an folgenden Beispielen erläutert:
258 g Diäthylketon wurden in Gegenwart von 6 g Wasser in einer völlig abgedunkelten Apparatur mit einem
Chlor/Stickstoff-Gemisch (etwa 1 :1) bei 75—82°C (Reaktionstemperatur) umgesetzt. Bei 88% Chlorierungsumsatz enthielt das Chloridgemisch 91,5% 2-Chlorpentanon-3. Es wurde fraktioniert: Kp. 135—136° D; η f 1.484.
Bei kontinuierlicher Chlorierung erhält man quantitativen Umsatz. Hierbei werden Chlor und Pentanon der
Apparatur oben zugeführt und das Chlorierungsprodukt dem Verdampfer kontinuierlich entnommen. Die
entstehende Salzsäure entweicht am Kopf der Apparatur. Die in der folgenden Tabelle aufgeführten Beispiele 2
bis 9 werden analog Beispiel 1 durchgeführt.

Claims (3)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von «-Monochlor- und «-Monobromketonen durch Umsetzung eines in
«-Stellung halogenierbaren Ketons mit Chlor oder Brom in der Flüssigphase, dadurchgekennzeich-
5 net, daß man das Keton in einem Verdampfungsgefäß, auf das ein Rohr aufgesetzt ist, und das im oberen
Teil zu einem Kondensator und im unteren Teil zu einer Kolonne ausgebildet ist und in dessen Mitte sich der
Reaktionsraum befindet, verdampft, den Dampf an dem Kondensator kondensiert, so daß das Kondensat auf
eine in den Reaktionsraum eingelassene Vorrichtung tropft und dort mit dem durch die Vorrichtung eingeleiteten Chlor oder Brom zu einem Reaktionsprodukt reagiert, welches durch das von dem Kondensator
ι ο tropfende Kondensat durch ein in die Kolonne eingelassenes Rohr in das Verdampfungsgefäß gespült wird.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von
Wasser durchführt.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Umsetzung unter Ausschluß
von Licht durchführt.
