Phosphincarbonsäure der allgemeinen Formel II, in der die beiden Reste X OH-Gruppen bedeuten, bei
Temperaturen von etwa —20 bis +2000C, umsetzt.
Es ist bereits bekannt, daß 2-Chlorforrnylethyl-phosphinsäurec'iloride,
die aus Alkyldichlorphosphinen und Λ,/J-ungesättigten Carbonsäuren bequem zugänglich
sind, mit Acetanhydrid zu 23-Dioxo-l^-oxa-phospholanen
cyclisiert werden können, wobei Acetylchlorid als Nebenprodukt anfällt. 2-Methyl- bzw. 2,4-Dimethyl-2,5-dioxo-1.2-oxaphospholan
erhält man nach diesem Verfahren aus den entsprechenden Chlorformylalkylphosphinsäurechloriden
in 84.3%iger bzw. 78.6%iger jo

Ausbeute. Bezieht man die Ausbeuten auf Methyldichlorphosphin,
das mit Acrylsäure bzw. Methacrylsäure zu den entsprechenden 2-ChlorformylaIkyl-methylphosphinsäurechloriden
reagiert, so errechnet sich für das 2-Methyl- bzw. 2,4-Dimethyl-2.5-dioxo-l,2-oxaphospholan
eine Gesamtausbeute von 67,7% bzw. 60,7% (V. K. Chajrullin, 1.1. Sobcuk und A. N. Pudovik, Z. obsc. chim.,

Es ist ein Nachteil dieses Verfahrens, daß die rohen
2.5-Dioxo-1.2-oxa-phospholane durch größere Mengen Acetanhydrid verunreinigt sind, das auch unter vermindertem
Druck nur unvollständig abgetrennt werden kann und bei Temperaturen oberhalb 1303C zu
Verfärbungen des Rohproduktes führt. Zur Reindarstellung der nach diesem Verfahren hergestellten 2.5-Dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospholane
kann auf eine Hochvakuumdestillation nicht verzichtet werden.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man 2.5-Dioxo-1.2-oxaphospholane

oder an einer Phosphincarbonsäure der allgemeinen Formel II, in der die beiden Reste X OH-Gruppen
bedeuten, bei Temperaturen von -20 bis +2000C.
umsetzt.
Bevorzugt werden bei Verwendung von Phosphincarbonsäuren
solche mit gleichen Resten R1, R2, R3 wie in Formel Il eingesetzt. Doch kann man durch Variation
dieser Reste auch Mischungen von Phospholanen erhalten.
Es ist überraschend, daß 2-Halogenformylethyi-phosphinsäure-halogenide
mit äquimolaren Mengen an Wasser oder an 2-Carboxy-ethylphosphinsäuren zu den
2.5-Dioxo-l,2-oxaphospholanen reagieren. Erwartungsgemäß hätte an Stelle dieser Cyclisierung zumindest
teilweise eine Polykondensation zu polymeren anhydridischen Strukturen einsetzen sollen. Erhält man doch
beispielsweise durch Kondensation von Terephthalsäure mit Terephthalylchlorid bei 200-3000C ein Polyterephthalsäureanhydrid
(Houben—Weyl, Methoden der organischen Chemie, Band XIV/2, S. 361, Georg Thieme
Verlag, Stuttgart, 1963). Überraschend auch deswegen, da gezeigt werden konnte, daß die 2-Curboxyethyl-methyl-phosphinsäure
unter Kondensationsbedingungen auch bei Temperaturen oberhalb 190° C und einem
Druck von 6,65 Pa keine Ringschlußreaktion eingeht, sondern unter Abspaltung von Wasser in Phosphincarbonsäureanhydride
übergeht, die aufgrund ihrer spektroskopischen Daten nicht mit dem 2-Methyl-2,5-dioxo-1,2-oxo-phospholan
identisch sind.

sowie die entsprechenden 2-Carboxyethyl-phosphinsäuredibromide.
Die Halogenformylethyl-phosphinsäurehalogenide lassen sich bequem aus den entsprechenden Alkyldihalogenphosphinen
und «,^-ungesättigten Carbonsäuren
analog der russischen Patentschrift 1 73 763 herstellen.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird vorteilhaft so durchgeführt, daß man etwa die äquimolare Menge
Wasser oder einer 2-Carboxyethyl-phosphinsäure, die man z. B. durch Hydrolyse eines entsprechenden
Dihalogenids erhält, mit den 2-Halogenformylethylphosphinsäurehalogeniden
reagieren läßt. Das Wasser kann unverdünnt oder gelöst in Ethern, wie Dioxan, Tetrahydrofuran oder 1,2-Dimethoxyethan oder auch
als Wasserdampf zu den Phosphincarbonsäuredichloriden dosiert werden. Umgekehrt kann man auch die
2-Halogenformyl-ethyl-phosphinsäurehalogenide in ein
Gemisch aus Wasser und einem mit Wasser mischbaren inerten Lösungsmittel, wie Dioxan oder Tetrahydrofuran,
eintropfen. Die Phosphincarbonsäure kann fest, geschmolzen oder gelöst in einem Ether wie Dioxan,
Tetrahydrofuran oder 1,2-Dimethoxyethan zu dem Phosphincarbonsäuredichlorid zugegeben werden.
Ebenso ist es auch möglich, die 2-Carboxyethyiphosphinsäuredichloride
in eine Schmelze oder eine Lösung der entsprechenden Phosphincarbonsäure einzutropfen.
Das Verfahren kann auch kontinuierlich durchgeführt werden.
Die Reaktionstemperatur soll etwa -20 bis +200°C. vorzugsweise 0 bis +1600C, insbesondere +20 bis
+ 13O0C, betragen. Es ist nicht erforderlich, die
65 Temperatur während der Reaktion durch Außenkühlung
konstant zu halten. Vielmehr kann es beim Arbeiten ohne Lösungsmittel sogar vorteilhaft sein, die
Temperatur mit fortschreitender Reaktion bis zum Schmelzpunkt des Endproduktes ansteigen zu lassen,
um die Viskosität des Reaktionsgemisches niedrig zu halten.
Der bei der Reaktion entstehende Halogenwasserstoff kann beispielsweise durch Einblasen von Inertgas,
wie Stickstoff schnell aus der Reaktionslösung ausgetrieben werden. Die restlichen Mengen an Halogenwasserstoff
können dann unter Wasserstrahlvakuum, beispielsweise bei Temperaturen von +50 bis +2000C
entfernt werden. Beim Arbeiten in Lösungsmitteln ist es auch möglich, den gebildeten Halogenwasserstoff mit
einem Säureacceptor, wie tertiären Aminen, abzufangen.
Als Lösungsmittel für die erfindungsgemäße Reaktion kommen in Frage: Dioxan, Tetrahyd.ofuran,
Diisopropylether, Di-n-butylether, Methylenchlorid, 1,2-Dichlorethan, 1,2-Dichlorpropan, Chloroform, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff,
Benzol, Toluol, Xylol, Chlorbenzoi, o-Dichlorbenzol, Petrolether sowie auch Gemische aus
diesen Lösungsmitteln.
Die Reaktionszeit beträgt im allgemeinen 1 bis 6 Stunden.
Die nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren hergestellten 2,5-Dioxo-l,2· oxa-phospholane sind bereits als
Rohprodukte von guter Farbqualitäf und besitzen für eine technische Verwendung bereits in der rohen Form
die erforderliche Reinheit. Die weitere Reinigung kann durch Umkristallisation aus inerten Lösungsmitteln, wie
Dioxan, Aceton, Chloroform, 1,2-Dichlorethan. 1,2-Dichlorpropan oder aus Gemischen dieser Lösungsmittel
erfolgen. Die 2,5-Dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospholane mit niedrigem Molekulargewicht lassen sich durch eine
Destillation unter vermindertem Druck, insbesondere durch Destillation in einem Dünnschichtverdampfer
bequem reinigen.
Die Darstellung der 2,5-Dipxo-l,2 ora-phospholane
nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren ist als bedeutender technischer Fortschritt anzusehen, da für
die Cyclisierung der 2-Halogenformylethyl-phosphinsäurehalogenide,
die auch unmittelbar als Rohprodukte in die Reaktion eingesetzt werden können, nur Wasser
oder die den Phosphincarbonsäuredihalogeniden entsprechenden Phosphincarbonsäuren, die aus den ersteren
durch Hydrolyse leicht herstellbar sind, als Reagenz benötigt werden. Da diese Reagentien im Laufe der
Umsetzung praktisch quantitativ verbraucht werden, erübrigt sich so die umständliche Abtrennung von
Fremdsubstanzen.
Weiterhin sind die nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren dargestellten 2,5-Dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospholane schon als
Rohprodukte von guter Farbqualität und hoher Reinheit, so daß die Phospholane für viele Verwendungszwecke
direkt als Rohprodukte eingesetzt werden können. Die Ausbeuten an 2,5-Dk)XO-I^-OXa-PhOSPhO-lanen
- bezogen auf Alkyl- bzw. Aryldihalogenphosphine - betragen ca. 85-100% der Theorie.
2,5-Dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospho!ane sind gute Flammschutzmittel, die für die Herstellung schwer entflammbarer
linearer Polyester eingesetzt werden können. Weiterhin stellen sie wertvolle Zwischenprodukte dar,
die beispielsweise zu Flammschutzmitteln verarbeitet werden können.
Die Erfindung wird durch die nachfolgenden Beispiele erläutert.
Herstellung von
2-MethyN2,5-dioxo-l,2-oxa-phosphoIanaus
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und
2-Carboxyethyl-methyl-phosphinsäure
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und
2-Carboxyethyl-methyl-phosphinsäure
In einem 2-1-Kolben mit Rührer, Thermometer,
RückfluBkühler, Tropftrichter und N2-Überleitungsstutzen
wurden 585 g Methyldichlorphosphin, welches 1,4% PCl3 enthielt, vorgelegt und auf Raumtemperatur
aufgewärmt (576,8 g CH3PCl2, 4,94 Mol). Aus dem
Tropftrichter wurden insgesamt 365 g Acrylsäure (5,07 Mol) unter Rühren und Oberleiten eines schwachen
NrStromes in der Weise zum CH3PCl2 zugetropft, daß
zunächst die Reaktion, durch langsames Zutropfen in Gang kam (Ansteigen der Temperatur des Kolbeninhaltes
auf ca. 400C) und dann unter Kühlung der Kolbenwand mit einem Eis/H2O-Bad bei schnellerem
Zutrc-pfen die Reaktionswärme so abgeführt wurde, daß im Kolben eine Temperatur von 6O0C gehalten wurde.
Nach 1 Stunde 20 Minuten war die Acrylsäurezugabe beendet. Das Reaktionsprodukt war eine farblose
Schmelze von 2-Chlorformylethyl-methyl-phosphinsäurechlorid.
Zu dieser Schmelze wurden unter Rühren und langsamen Aufheizen auf 1100C portionsweise 760 g
2-Carboxyethyl-methyIphosphinsäure zugegeben. Dabei fand eine kräftige HCl-Entwicklung statt. Nach
11/2 Stunden war die Zugabe beendet, es wurde noch 2
Stunden unter Wasserstrahlvakuum auf 1500C aufgeheizt. Anschließend wurde der Kolbeninhalt einer
Vakuumdestillation bei 133 Pa unterworfen. Es wurden 1253 g farblose 2-Methyl-2,5-dioxo-l,2-oxa-phosphol.-:n
erhalten, welches beim Abkühlen kristallisierte.
Ausbeute: 94% der Theorie.
Herstellung von
2-Methyl-2,5-dioxo-1,2-oxa-phospholan aus
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und Wasser
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und Wasser
In eine.n 2-l-Kolben, gemäß Beispiel 1 ausgerüstet,
wurden 1170g (9,92 Mol) Methyldichlorphosphin,
welches 0,8% PCI3 enthielt, vorgelegt und mit 755 g(10,5
Mol) Acrylsäure wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben zu 2-Carboxyethyl-methylphosphinsäuredichlorid umgesetzt.
Innerhalb von 11/2 Stunden wurden dann 185 g (103
Mo!) Wasser unter Rühren bei Temperaturen von 60 —85° C tropfenweise zum obigen Dichlorid zugegeben,
wobei ein kräftiger HCl-Strom entwich. Nach vollendeter Zugabe iveizte man den Kolbeninhalt auf
95°C auf und zog mit der Wasserstrahlpumpe bis zu einem Vakuum von 2670 Pa HCl ab. Der farblose viskose
Rückstand (1654 g) wurde unter Vakuum langsam auf 180° C aufgeheizt, wobei nochmals HCI entwich. Bei
einem Vakuum von ca. 133Pa destillierte dann das 2-Methyl-2,5-dioxo-l, 2-oxa-phospholan als farblose
Flüssigkeit, die bei ca. 1000C kristallisierte (Sdp. 133 Pa,
164-202° C).
Ausbeute: 1180 g = 88,7% der Theorie.
Herstellung von
2-Methyl-2,5-dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospholan aus
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und Wasser
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und Wasser
In einem 2-l-Kolben, gemäß Beispiel 1 ausgerüsiet, wurden 1170g (9,92 Mol) Methyldichlorphosphin,
welches 0,8% PCl3 enthielt, vorgelegt und mit 755 g( 10,5
Mol) Acrylsäure wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben zu 2-Carboxyethyl-methylphosphinsäuredichlorid umgesetzt.
Innerhalb von l'/2 Stunden wurden 185 g (10,3 Mol)
Wasser in einer beheizten Vorlage (Kolben) verdampft und mit 3 l/h Stickstoff dampfförmig in die obige
Schmelze des Dichloride unter Rühren eingetragen. D;e
Temperatur des Kolbeninhalts stieg von 60 auf 118°C
an. Es entwich ein starker HCl-Strom. Anschließend wurde unter Wasserstrahlvakuum noch HCl abgezogen,
wobei die Temperatur auf unter 100° C sank.
Der farblose viskose Rückstand (1546 g) wurde langsam unter Vakuum auf 180° C aufgeheizt. Bei ca.
133 Pa destillierte dann das 2-Methyi-2,5-dioxo-l,2-oxaphospholan (Sdp. 133Pa, 175-211°C) als farblose
Flüssigkeit über, weiche bei ca. 100° C kristallisierte.
Ausbeute: 1188 g = 89,5% der Theorie.
Herstellung ν-η
2-Methy!-2,5-d'!Oxo-! ,2-oxa-phosphoIan aus
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und Wasser
Methyldichlorphosphin, Acrylsäure und Wasser
Zu 250 g (1,32 Mol) 2-Chlorformylethyl-metbyl-phosphinsäurechlorid,
das aus 155 g Methyldichlorphosphin und 95 g Acrylsäure hergestellt wurde, werden unter
lebhaftem Rühren bei 25 bis 45° C unter Kühlung 23.8 ml Wasser getropft. Dann wird auf 75° C erhitzt, wobei eine
starke Chlorwasserstoffentwicklung einsetzt. Anschließend entfernt man die restliche Menge Chlorwasserstoff
bei ca. 15O0C unter Wasserstrahlvakuuni. Der
Rückstand wird bei 26,7 Pa destilliert. Man erhält 173 g (98% der Theorie) 2-Methyl-2,5-dioxo-1,2-oxa-phospholan.
Herstellung von
2,4-Dimethyl-2,5-dioxo-1,2-oxa-phospholan aus
Methyldichlorphosphin, Methacrylsäui e und Wasser
Methyldichlorphosphin, Methacrylsäui e und Wasser
Zu 117 g (1 Mol) Methyldichlorphosphin tropft man hei 40-450C 86 g(l Mol) Methacrylsäure. Es wird noch
1 Stunde bei dieser Temperatur nachgerührt. Anschließend zersetzt man das Phosphincarbonsäuredichlorid
mit 18 ml H2O bei 40-60°C, wobei eine starke Chlorwasserstoffentwicklung eintritt. Die restliche, im
Reaktionsgemisch verbliebene Menge an Chlorwasserstoff entfernt man bei 15O0C unter Wasserstrahlvakuum.
Der Rückstand wird unter vermindertem Druck destilliert. Man erhält 126 g 2,4-Dimethyl-2,5-dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospholan.
Das entspricht einer Ausbeute von 85,1% der Theorie.
Beispiel 6
5r 2-Phenyl-2,5-dioxo-1,2-oxa-phospholan
5r 2-Phenyl-2,5-dioxo-1,2-oxa-phospholan
Zu 179 g (1 MoI) Phenyld'ichlorphosphin tropft man
bei 60 bis 8O0C 72 g (1 Mol) Acrylsäure. Nach beendetem Zutropfen wird 1 Stunde bei 70°C
nachgerührt. Anschließend wird mit 18 ml H2O Dei
50 —60°C zersetzt, wobei eine starke Chlorwasserstoffentwickiung
einsetzt, Die restlichen Mengen Chlorwasserstoff werden unter Wasserstrahlva'iuum bei
160-180°C entfernt. Man erhält 184 g (94% der Theorie) 2-Phenyl-2,5-dioxo-l,2-oxa-phospholan. das
nach Umkristallisieren aus einem Aceton-/Äthergemischbeica.66-7rCschmilzt(Lit.:Fp.
= 55-57°C, A. N. Pudovnik et al., Z. obsc. Chim., 37,455 [ 1967]).
Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung von 2,5-Dioxo-1.2-oxaphospholanen der allgemeinen Formel 1(D15worin R1 für eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 bis 4 C-Atomen oder Phenyl, R- und R3 für Methyl oder Wasserstoff stehen, wobei mindestens einer der Reste R2. R' ein Wasserstoffatom bedeutet, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man 2-Halogen-formylethyl-phosphinsäurehalogenide der allgemeinen Formel Il
