Die Erfindung betrifft ein Schmierölgemisch, enthaltend eine größere Menge eines Kohlenwasserstofföls mit Schmierviskosität,
etwa 0,01 bis 5 Gew.-% einer öllösllchen, die Säureneutralisation beschleunigenden polyalkoxylierten
Verbindung und eine Menge eines Erdalkalicarbonats, die
in dem Kohlenwasserstofföl dispergiert ist und ausreicht, um einen Alkalitätswert von 0,5 bis 100 mg KOH/g zu erzielen,
nach Patent (Patentanmeldung P 21 28 655.5),
das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß es als öllösliche, die
Säureneutralisation beschleunigende polyalkoxylierte Verbindung ein Reaktionsprodukt eines Polyoxyalkylenglykols, das
ein Molekulargewicht im Bereich von 1000 bis 10 000 besitzt, mit einer eine Dicarbonsäure mit 2 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen
bildenden Verbindung oder mit einem organischen Isocyanat enthält. '
Schmieröle werden als Träger für Additive verwendet, die den Schutz der geschmierten Oberflächen durch das öl unterstützen..
Die Neigung zum Rostansatz in Verbrennungsmotoren
macht es erforderlich, den Schmierölen Additive zuzusetzen, die die Rostbildung verhindern. Bei der Oxidation von

Schmierölen entsteht eine Vielzahl von Verbindungen, die für die beabsichtigte Verwendung der Öle schädlich sind* Zahlreiche
Bndprodukte aus dieser Oxydation greifen Metalle an, bewirken Lagerkorrosion und beschleunigen Abnutzung und liostansatz.
Säurehaltige Produkte sind auch die Hauptursache für das Auftreten ölunlösucher Stoffe, die Festfressen der Kolbenringe
sowie Schlammabscheidung verursachen und das Fliessen des
Öls behindern· Drei wichtige Massnahnien für die Rost- und Korrosion
shemmung sind Neutralisation der sauren Produkte, Verhinderung
der Öloxydation und Bildung von Schutzfilmen* Da Säuren bei den Rost- und Korrosionsprozessen beteiligt sind, dient ihre
Neutralisation als Korrosionsschutzmassnahme» Zu diesem Zweck
werden den Schmierölen, die in Verbrennungsmotoren verwendet werden, Basen zugesetzt, die die Säuren neutralisieren, die bei
der Verbrennung gebildet werden oder die durch unverbranntes Gemisch oder auf andere Weise in das Öl gelangen» Wenn beispielsweise
Erdalkalicarbonate mittels eines Dispersionsmittels (Phenat oder SuIfonat) in einem Schmieröl dispergiert werden, kann
die Korrosionsgeschwindigkeit in Kupfer-Blei-Lagern niedrig gehalten
und die Rostbildung verhindert werden, solange der pH-Wert des Öls über 6 liegt.
Rostbildung und Säurekorrosion bilden ernste Probleme bei Verbrennungsmotoren,
Dieselmaschinen, Dampfturbinen und anderen Triebwerken, die mit Feuchtigkeit in Berührung gelangen, Korrosionsverschleis
s und Rostansatz können durch schnelle Neutralieafcion
der Säuren mittels wirksamer alkalischer Additive leicht unter Kontrolle gehalten werden*

Zusatzmittel zur Beschleunigung der Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit
sind neu auf dem Schmierölgebiet. Polyoxyalkylenglykole
und ihre Ester sind häufig als synthetische Schmiermittel verwendet worden« Polyoxyalkylenglykole mit niedrigem
Molekulargewicht "und ihre Ester haben eine gewisse Verwendung als Schmieröl-Additive gefunden.« In der amerikanischen Patentschrift 3 509 052 werden beispielsweise Polyoxyalkylenpolyole
als Demulgatoren in bestimmten Schmierölmischungen beschrieben«
Die erfindungsgemässen Mischungen setzen sich zusammen aus dem
Reaktionsprodukt eines Polyoxyalkylenglykols mit einer Carbonsäure
oder einer säurebildenden Verbindung wie z.B. einem Säurehalogenid
oder -anhydrid oder einem organischen Isocyaiiat und
einem Erdalkalicarbonat, das in einem .Öl mit Schmierviskosität
dispergiert ist» Die Anwesenheit derartiger Reaktionsprodukte in der Mischung beschleunigt die Neutralisation der Säure aus
der mit dem Öl vermischten wässrigen Phase, wie sich durch pH-Messungen
feststellen lässt« Diese Mischungen bewirken daher Rost- und Korrosionsschutz«
Die Kombination der oben beschriebenen Reaktionsprodukte des
Polyoxyalkylenglykols mit Erdalkalicarbonaten, die in einem Öl
mit Schmierviskosität dispergiert sind, führt erfindungsgemäss zu einer überraschenden Verbesserung der Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit
der Säure, wie sich an Hand des zu beschreibenden Tests zur Bestimmung der Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit von
Säuren zeigen lässt« Rostbildung und Korrosion von Eisenme— tallen können daher durch Behandlung mit Schmiermitteln, die

diese Kombinationen enthalten, verhindert werden.
Die Reaktionsprodukte der Polyoxyalkylenglykole werden in Mengen
von 0,01 bis etwa 5 Gewichtsprozent der Mischung zugesetzt.
Do.s Erdalkalicarbonat wird normal erweise in einer Menge angewandt,
die zu Alkali ta taxierten von etwa 0,5 bis 100 rag ICOH/g
und vorzugsweise etwa 1 bis 20 mg KOH/g führt. Alkalitatswerte über 10 mg KOH/g sind für den Rostschutz gewöhnlich nicht erforderlich, werden aber für bestimmte Zwecke doch häufig angewandt. So sind beispielsweise die Alkalitätswerte in Schiffsmaschinenö'len hoch, während in Autoschmierölen verhältnismässig niedrige Alkalitätswerte benutzt werden·

Es können auch andere Additive in den Schmierölmischungen vorliegen,
uin andere Funktionen zu erfüllen, als sie durch das
dispergierte Oarbonat und das Reaktionsprodukt des Polyoxyalkylenglykols erreicht werden oder auch um die Funktionen der letzteren zu verstärken.

KOMPONENTEN
Polyoxyalkylenfrlykole
Die Polyoxyalkylenglykole, die erfindungsgemäss verwendet werden,
bestehen aus einer Oxaalkankette, die Hydroxylgruppen besitzt und der allgemeinen Formel

des Polyoxyalkylenglykols mehr als 1.000 beträgt»
Einige der Polyoxyallcylenglykole mit niedrigerem Molekulargewicht
s'ind im Handel von Wyandotte Chemicals Corporation als
"Pluronic"-Typenreihe zu beziehen. Die Blockcopolymerisate
werden durch Addition von Propylenoxid an die beiden Hydroxylgruppen eines Propylenglykols hergestellt« Die resultierende
hydrophobe Grundsubstanz kann in jeder gewünschten Kettenlange innerhalb eines Molekulargewichtbereichs von 800 bis zu einigen
tausend hergestellt werden0 Durch Addition von Äthylenoxid an
beide Enden dieser hydrophoben Grundsubstanz ist es möglich, beide Enden des Moleküls mit hydrophilen Polyoxyäthylengruppen
zu versehen. Die hydrophilen Gruppen können in einer Menge addiert werden, dass ihr Anteil ein paar Prozent, aber auch bis
zu 80 Prozent des fertigen Moleküls ausmacht, wie aus der amerikanischen
Patentschrift 2 6"Jh 619 zu ersehen ist, Im allgemeinen
sind die Polyoxyallcylenglykole Gemische von Verbindungen, die sich in der Kettenlänge der Polymeren leicht unterscheiden.
Ihre Eigenschaften entsprechen aber ungefähr denen eines Moleküls
mit der durchschnittlichen Zusammensetzung,
Die Gesamtstruktur der erfindungsgemäss bevorzugten Moleküle,
ist mit Absicht araphipathisch. Ein amphipathisches Molekül vereinigt
in sich zwei unterschiedliche strukturelle Gruppen, beispielsweise eine wasserlösliche und eine wasserunlöslich©
Hälfte, Zusammensetzung, Löslichkeitseigenschaften, Verhältnis

und jeweilige Grosse dieser unterschiedlichen Hälften in Beziehung
zur Gesamtkonfiguration des Moleküls bestimmen die Wirksamkeit der Reaktionsprodukte des Polyoxyalkylenglykols
für die Zwecke der Erfindung, Das bedeutet, wie noch gezeigt wird, dass die Fähigkeit der Reaktionsprodukte des Polyoxyalkylenglykols
zur Beschleunigung der Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit
der Säure aus einer säurehaltigen Phase durch dispergiertes Erdalkalicarbonat von dem Gesamtmolekulargewicht und
der Zusammensetzung der Reaktionsprodukte des Polyoxyalkylenglykols
abhängt. Diese Empfindlichkeit gegenüber der Zusammensetzung
und dem Gleichgewicht zwischen den beiden Molekülteilen
der Reaktionsprodukte des Polyoxyalkylenglykols steht in Zusammenhang mit der Geschwindigkeit der Säure-Base-Neutralisation
zwischen einer wässrigen und einer nichtwässrigen Phase, wie sie unter den praktischen Betriebsbedingungen in Motoren, Maschinen
und Turbinen gegeben sind«
Bevorzugte Reaktionsprodukte von Polyoxyalkylenglykolen zur Beschleunigung der Neutralisation werden hergestellt durch Umsetzung
des Glykols mit organischen Mono- und Polyisocyanaten, Mono- und Dicarbonsäuren oder Säurehalogeniden und —anhydriden,
das heisst mit Verbindungen, die Carbonsäuren bilden, wobei komplexe Reaktionsprodukte mit hohem Molekulargewicht entstehen,
die als komplexe Polyester oder Urethane zu bezeichnen sind· Andere Reaktionsprodukte von Polyoxyalkylenglykolen, die in geringerem
Masse als Beschleuniger der Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit in Kombination mit dispergierten Erdalkalicarbonaten brauchbar
sind,enthalten Oxaalkanketten,die mit polaren funktionellen

Gruppen wie Carbonyl-, Säure-, Ester-, Amino-, Amid-, Thio- und phosphorhaltig^! Gruppen versehen sind, wie sie beispielsweise
von Lowe in den amerikanischen Patentschriften 3 037 056
und 2 879 230 beschrieben werdenc Ton diesen Verbindungen
sind die mit Essigsäure veresterten Polyoxyalkylenglykole wegen
ihrer Löslichkeit in vielen Fällen besonders geeignet«
Dicarbonsäuren, die zur !Reaktion mit Polyoxyalkylenglykolen
verwendet werden können, sind Oxalsäure, Malonsäiirej Bernsteinsäure,
Glutarsäure, Adipinsäure, Pimelinsäure, Suberinsäure, Azelainsäure, Sebacinsäure und andere <>C,&)-Dicarbonsäuren sowie
alkyl- ru.e. - alkenylsubstituierte Säuren dieser Art» Oxalsäure
und ihre Derivate sind wegen ihrer Stabilität und Reaktionsfähigkeit besonders geeignet» Im allgemeinen sind Säuren mit
niedrigerem Molekulargewicht wie zoBc Essigsäure und Oxalsäure '
besser geeignet als Säuren mit höherem Molekulargewicht wie z.B* substituierte Bernsteinsäure, Laurinsäure, Stearinsäure und andere
Fettsäuren, da sie leichter reagieren und ihre Polyoxy— alkylenglykolester stabil und gut löslich sind.
Die Reaktion zwischen ä,&n hochmolekularen Polyoxyalkylenglykolen
und einer Verbindung, die eine Diearbonsäure bildet, wird in der Weise durchgeführt, dass die Komponenten direkt miteinander
vermischt oder in einem wechselseitigen Lösungsmittel in einem Molverhältnis iron 1:3 bis 3sl in Lösung gebracht werden,
worauf das Gemisch 1 bis 100 Stunden auf etwa. 15O-20O°G erhitzt
wird. Zur Verkürzung der Reaktionszeit können geeignete und allgemein bekannte Veresterungskatalysatoren benutzt werden«

liertes Methylendiphenyldiisooyanat, Hexamethylendiisocyanat
und polymer· Isocyanate wie PolymethylenpolyphenylAeocyanat*
Di« Reaktion zwischen dem hochmolekularen Polyoxyalkylenglykol
und dem organischen Isoeyanat wird in der Welse durchgeführt,
dass die Komponenten direkt miteinander vermischt oder in einen wechselseitigen Lösungsmittel in einem Molverhältnis iron It3
bis 3s1 in Lösung gebracht werden, worauf das Gemisch 3 bis
Stunden auf etwa 25-1000C erhitzt wird* Die Urethan·, die bei

Zur Herstellung des" Reaktionsproduktes aus Polyoxyalkylesiglykol
und Oxalsäure wurden 889 g des Polyoxyalkylenglykols aus Beispiel
2 in einem 3-Liter-Kolben mit 250 ml Xylol und 12 96 g
Oxalsäuredihydrat vermischte Das Gemisch wurde gerührt und 42 Stunden bei einer Temperatur über 150°ö am Rückfluss erhitzt«,
Das Produkt wurde mit überhitztem Wasserdampf bei UO0G im Vakuum
vom Lösungsmittel befreit. Es wurden. 89Ο g Reaktionsprodukt
erhalten, dessen Säurezahl praktisch Null betrug. Das
Reaktionsprodukt aus Polyoxyalkylenglykol und Toluoldiisooyanat
wurde hergestellt durch Vermischen von 111 g des Polyoxyalkylenglykols
aus Beispiel 2 mit 4„35 g Toluoldiisocyanat in einem
200 ral-Kolben, Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde 15 Stunden bei
96 ί 3°C gerührt und dann bei 93°C im Vakuum vom Lösungsmittel
befreit. Es wurden 11.4 g Reaktionsprodukt erhaltene.
Erdalkaliearbonate - *'· ' '
Die Erdalkalicarbonate, die erfindungsgemäss verwendet werden,
sind Magnesium-, Calcium- und Bariumcarbonat, vorzugsweise

Calcium- und Bariumcarbonate . Geringe Hydroxidmengen können
in den Carbonaten enthalten sein, sollen aber im allgemeinen nicht mehr ala etwa 20 Prozent zum Alkalitätewert des Erdalkalicarbonats
beitragen« Da die Erdalkaliverbindungen in Kohlenwasserstoffen
nicht löslich sind, werden sie stets mit Hilfe eines für Salze geeigneten Dispersionsmittels dispergiert.
Diese Dispersionsmittel sind dem Fachmann bekannt und sollen hier nur summarisch besprochen werden.
Bevorzugte Dispersionsmittel sind Sulfonate und Phenate. Die
Sulfonate werden in der amerikanischen Patentschrift 3 ^88 284
eingehend beschrieben« Organische Sulfonate werden aus ncitürlichen
oder synthetischen Ausgangsmaterialien hergestellt« Bei den natürlichen Sulfonaten handelt es sich um Mahagonisulfonatθ,
die aus bestimmten Erdölfraktionen gewonnen werden und im allgemeinen
etwa 25 bis 50 Kohlenstoffatome je Sulfonsäure besitzen,
Als synthetisches Ausgangsmaterial werden gewöhnlich alkylierte Benzole verwendet, die etwa 25 bis 50 Kohlenstoffatone besitzen«
Die Anwendung von Sulfonaten und das Verfahren zur Herstellung überalkalisierter Sulfonate ist allgemein bekannt und aus der
obigen Patentschrift zu entnehmen. Weitere diesbezügliche Quellen sind die amerikanischen Patentschriften 3 021 280»
3 256 186, 3 057 896 und 3 312 6l8.
Eine andere Gruppe von Dispersionsmitteln für Erdalkaliearbontate
sind die Phenate. Phenate sind alkylierte Phenole, die als Einzelmoleküle oder in geringem Grade von 8 bis 5 Alkylphenolen
polymerisiert vorliegen können, wobei gewöhnlich Schwefel, Alkylengruppen oder Dialkylenaminogruppen (Mannich-Basen) die
Brücken bilden« Die Alkylgruppe am Phenol besitzt normalerweise

mindestens 8 und gewöhnlich nicht mehr als 36 Kohlenstoff atome,
vorzugsweise aber etwa 12-30 Kohlenstoffatome* Das Phenoxid
in dem Phenat trägt ebenfalls zum Alkalitatswert bei. Die
überalkalisierten Phenate werden in zahlreichen Patentschriften
wie beispielsweise den amerikanischen Patentschriften 3 kjk Q35,
3 429 812, 3 388 O63, 3 336 224 und 2 798 852 beschrieben.
Weitere geeignete Dispersionsmittel sind die Erdalkalialkylphosphonate
und -thiophosphonate. Die Phosphonate enthalten gewöhnlich mindestens etwa 30 Kohlenstoff atome, können atteäc
bis zu 200 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen; vorzugsweise enthalten
sie etwa 50-125 Kohlenstoffatome· Die überalkalisierten Phosphonate
werden in der amerikanischen Patentschrift 3 312 6I8 beschrieben.
Der Alkalitatswert der überalkalisierten Dispersionsmittel
liegt gewöhnlich bei mindestens I50 mg KOH/g und nicht über
500 mg KOH/g, im allgemeinen aber im Bereich von etwa 200 bid
450 mg KOH/g. Das Äquivalent verhältnis von Base zxt Dispersionsmittel
beträgt mindestens ItI und gewöhnlich mindestens 1,5:1,
überschreitet aber normalerweise etwa 20tl nicht.
Diese Mischungen werden in einer Menge angewandt, die auereicht,
um den gewünschten Alkali tat β wert in dem fertigen Gemisch zu
erreichen. Deshalb werden die Erdalkalicarbonate als Konzentrate
hergestellt und dann in dem Schmieröl verdünnt, worauf
die polyoxyalkylierte Verbindung zugesetzt wird, um die fertige
Mischung in der gewünschten Zusammensetzung zu erhalten.

Schmieröle
Die Öle, die erfindungsgemäss veiftendet werden, sind Öle mit
Schmiarviekosität aus Erdöl oder synthetischer Herkunft· Es
kann sich um paraffinische, naphthenische und halogensubstituierte
Kohlenwasserstoffe, Asphaltprodukte oder auch Kombinationen
handeln· Als synthetische Schmieröle verwendet werden
Kohlenwasserstofföle und polymerisierte und mischpolymerisierte
Olefine, Alkylbenzole, Polyphenyle, Alkylenoxidpolymere und
-miSchpolymere sowie deren Derivate wie z.B. Ester, Äther usw.
Öle auf Silikonbasis sind ebenfalls als synthetische Schmiermittel geeignet«
Öle mit Schmierviskosität haben normalerweise Viskositäten im Bereich von 3 bis 10.800 Centistoke bei 37,8°C und gewöhnlich
von 7t5 bis 2.160 Centistoke bei 37,8°C.
Die Anwesenheit anderer Additive in der Mischung ist oft wünschenswert·
Es handelt sich dabei um Stockpunkterniedriger, Oilinessmittel, Antioxydantien, Detergentien, Korrosionshemmstoffe,
Hochdruckzusätse, Antischaummittel usw. Bei Ölen, die
in Motoren verwendet werden, beträgt die Gesamtmeng« dieser Additive etwa 0,5-15 Gewichtsprozent, gewöhnlich etwa 0,5-10
Gewichtepro»ent. Die einzelnen Additive können in Mengen von
etwa 0,01-10 Gewichtsprozent der Gesamtmischung anwesend sein*
In Konzentraten sind diese Additive gewöhnlich in Mengen von etwa 0,3*30 Gewichtsprozent anwesend.

ü>±3.ae bevorzugte G-oruppe von. Additiven sind die Succinimide von
AlkylenpοIyaminen. Die Succinimide eignen sich als- Schlammdispersionsmittel.
Sie besitzen an der Succinirnidgruppe gewöhnlich
einen Alkyl— oder Alkenylrest mit mindestens 50 Kohlenstoffatomen,
aber nicht mehr als etwa 200 Kohlenstoffatomen» Die AllcyJsnpolyamine sind normalerweise Äthylen- odor Propylenpolyamine
mit 2-6 Aminogruppen und gewöhnlich etwa 3-5 Aminogruppen;
diesbezügliche Angaben finden sich in der amerikanischen Patentschrift 3 36Ί 673·
Eine besonders bevorzugte Gruppe von Additiven -wegen ihrer
Wirksamkeit in Kombination mit den erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen
zur Beschleunigung der Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit
und dem dispergierten Erdalkalicarbonat sind Amine und Polyamine,
die mit Kohlenwasserstoffen substituiert sind, wie sie beispielsweise
in der amerikanischen Patentschrift 3 5&5 80 4 beschrieben
werdenβ
Vorteilhaft bei der Anwendung der erfindungsgemässen Mischungen
ist ferner der Zusatz von etwa .1 bis 50 mM/kg eines Dihydrocarbyldithiophosphats,
bei dem die Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen etwa 4-36 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. Öeuöhnlich handelt es
sich bei den Kohlenwasserstoffgruppen um Alkyl- oder Alkarylgrupnen.
Die restliche Valenz des Dithiophosphats is.t gewöhnlich
durch Zink abgesättigt r aber es kann auch ein Polyoxyalkylen
oder eine dritte Hydrocarbylgruppe benutzt werden»
Dieser Test besteht in der Neutralisation einer säurehaltigen wässrigen Phase mit einer basischen Ölpluise· Das Portschreiten

der Neutralisation wird mit einem pH-Messgerät verfolgt, wobei
der pH-Wert alle 15 see, 30 see. oder in einem anderen geeigneten
Zeitabstand gemessen wird. Die ermittelten pH-Werte
werden gegen die Zeit aufgetragen. Schmierölmischungen., die
dispergierte Erdalkalicarbonate enthalten, neutralisieren die Säure und zeigen einen deutlichen Wendepunkt, der gewöhnlich in
pH-Bereich von 3f5~6»5 ϋΘδ*ι aber die Zeit bis zum Eintreten
dieses Punktes, die Reaktionszeit, ist sehr unterschiedlich und hängt von der Anwesenheit oder Abwesenheit eines Beschleunigers
für die Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit gemäss der Erfindung ab, wenn alle anderen Paktoren während des Tests konstant gehalten
werden»
Der Wendepunkt entspricht dem ernten Umschlagspunkt bei der
Säure-Base-Titration in dem gegebenen System. Beispielsweise liegt der erste Umschlagepunkt bei der rein wässrigen Titration
von 0,01 η HCl mit 0,02 η Natriumcarbonat bei pH kt5 und entspricht
der Freisetzung von Kohlensäure durch HCl. Ein zweiter
Umschlagspunkt tritt bei pH 8,1 auf und entspricht dor Umwandlung von gelöster Kohlensäure in Dicarbonat.
Die Zeit vom Beginn des VertuiscJiens von Ol und wässriger Phase
bis zum Eintreten, des Wendepunktes, die Reaktionszeit, bildet die Basis für den Vergleich verschiedener Ölmischungen in dem
Neutralisntionstest. Im allgemeinen konnte beim Vergleich von
zwei Ölmischungen festgestellt werden, dass diejenige mit der niedrigen Reaktionszeit (schnelle Säureneutralisation) ein besse
res Rostschutzverhalten aufweist als die Mischung mit einer höheren
ite.'iktionszeit (langsamere Säureneutralisation), wenn alle
anderen Faktoren konstant gehalten werden. In den Beispielen

unten wird die Leistung der Schmierölmischungen in dem bekannten
Motorentest Sequence HB in Beziehung gesetzt zu den Ergebnissen
des Neutralisationstests^ wobei= alle sonstigen Faktoren konstant
bleiben.
Der oben beschriebene Neutralisationstest wird also benutzt, um
die Wirksamkeit der Polyoxyalkylenglykol-Reaktionsprodukte als
öllösliclie Beschleunigungsmittel für die, Neutralisationsgeschwindigkeit
zu testen. Das Verfahren wird wie folgt durchgeführt;
Ein 250 ml-Becherglas mit wässriger HCl (0,Ol-0,003 n) wird festgeklemmt
und mit einem Rührwerk versehenj die Elektroden eines Bxpandomatic pH-Messgeräts nach Beckmann tauchen in die Lösung
eine Aus Gründen einer möglichst guten Reproduzierbarkeit der
Ergebnisse wird die Rührgeschwindigkeit (500 U/rain») möglichst
konstant gehalten und die Elektroden (Kalomel- und Glaselektroden)
befinden sich bei allen Tests in der gleichen Stellung zueinander.
Da die Glaselektroden durch das Öl leicht verschmutzt
werden, wird von Zeit zu Zeit Desicote (ein hydrophobes Oberflächenbehandlungsmittel
nach Beckmann) zugegeben, um das zu verhindern» Zunächst wird die zu testende Ölmischung, 50 eil» der wässrigen
Lösung überschichtet, wobei so wenig wie möglich durchmischt
wird» pH-Messgerät, Stoppuhr und Rührer werden gleichzeitig in Betrieb gesetzt. Dann werden in bestimmten Zeitabständen
pH-Messungen durchgeführt und die erhaltenen Verfee gegen, die
Zeit aufgetragen. Die Reaktionszeiten liegen bei mehr als 150 Minuten bei bestimmten Ölmischungen, die Carbonat enthalten,
denen aber kein Beschleuniger für die Säureneutrailsation zugesetzt
wurde, betragen dagegen weniger als 1 Minute in Gegenwart bestimmter iPolyoxyalkylenglykol-Reaktionsprodukte.

Wichtige Testparameter sind erstens die Viskosität des Grundöls,
die bei einem Vergleich, von Schmierölmischungen uisi nicht
mehr als 15 Prozent schwanken sollte,und zweitens die Normalität
der Säure, die, wenn sie auf die Hälfte reduziert wird, zu einer Herabsetzung der Reaktionszeit auf die Hälfte führt (grob betrachtet)· Dieeer Parameter kann benutzt werden, um die Skala
der Neutralisationszeiten in verschiedenen Testreihen aufeinander abzustimmen« Die Reproduzierbarkeit der Neutralisationstests konnte durch umfassende Versuche erreicht werden.
Die folgenden Beispiele verdeutlichen die hervorragenden Eigenschaften
der erfindungsgemässen Schrnierö!mischungen, die Erdalkalicarbonate
und die beschriebenen Neutralisationsbeschleuniger enthalten« Alle Proζentangaben sind, wenn nicht anders vormerkt,
Gewichteprozente bezogen auf die Gesamtraischung.

Tabelle I seiet die bemerkenswerte Herabsetzung der Neutralisationsseiten,
die durch. Zusatz von nur seh.;.- geringen Mengen
der Neutralis rvfcionsbeschleuniger erreicht wird. Die Neutralisationsaeiten
für die Bezugsöle, die Calciumcarbonat mit Hilfe von Sulfonaten und Ph.en.aten dispergiex"t enthalten, sind ausserordentlich
hoch, trotz der Tatsa he, dass die Öle eine hohe
Alkalität aufweisen.. Die Neutralisationsbeschleuniger zeigen,
wie aus Tabelle I iu ersehen ist, ausgezeichnete Leistungen. In allgemeinen werden Neutralisationsbeschleuniger bevorzugt,
die die .Reaktionszeit gegenüber der des Bezugsöls (bei dem der
Prozentgehalt an Beschleuniger Null ist) wesentlich herabsetzen, da eine Herabsetzung der Zeit bis zum Y/endepunkt ui:i mehr als
50 Prozent als Beweis dafür angesehen werden kann, dass das Zusatzmittel die erfindungsgemässen Ziele erfüllt. Es sind natürlich
weitere Eigenschaften wie Verträglichkeit, Stabilität usw. Voraussetzung für die Brauchbarkeit der Additive, Was den
Itostschutz "betrifft, so ist eine befriedigende Reaktionszeit
i: > Neutralisationstest zwar kein unbedingter Hinweis auf ein gutes Ergebnis im ,Motorentest Sequence HB, doch stehen die
beim ersten Test erhaltenen Ergebnisse beim Vergleich von zwei Additiven in direkter Beziehung zu den Hosts chutz.eigensch.af ten,
wenn alle anderen Paktoren konstant gehalten werden.
Tabelle II zeigt die unterschiedlichen Eigenschaften der erfindunos^emässen
Polyoxyal'ylenglykole. Wie zu ersehen ist, soll
das Polyoxy.-.llcylen/jlylcol vorzugsweise wesentlich weniger als
50 G-exvi :htsproment Polyoxyathyleneiiilieiten enthalten und das
Molekulargewicht soll wesentlich über 1.000 und vorzugsweise über 5*000 liegen.

1) Schmierölgemisch, enthaltend eine größere Menge eines Kohlenwasserstofföls mit Schmierviskosität, etwa 0,01 bis
5 Gew.-* einer öllöslichen, die Säureneutralisation beschleunigenden
ροIyalkoxylierten Verbindung und eine Menge eines
Erdalkalicarbonats, die in dem Kohlenwasserstofföl dispergiert
ist und ausreicht, um einen Alkalitätswert von 0,5

öllösliche, die Säureneutralisation beschleunigende polyalkoxylierte
Verbindung ein Reaktionsprodukt eines Polyoxyalkylenglykols, das ein Molekulargewicht im Bereich von
1000 bis 10 000 besitzt, mit einer eine Dicarbonsäure mit 2 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen bildenden Verbindung oder mit
einem organischen Isocyanat enthält.
2) Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Erdalkalicarbonat Calciumcarbonat ist, das in dem
öl mit Hilfe eines Phenats oder Sulfonate als Dispersionsmittel dispergiert ist.
3) Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Dispersionsmittel ein Sulfonat ist, das sich von
einer SuIfonsäure mit 25 bis 50 Kohlenstoffatomen ableitet.
4) Schmierölgemisch nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Dispersionsmittel ein Phenat ist, das sich von einem alkylierten Phenol oder polymerisierten alkylierten Phenolen
ableitet, die 2 bis 5 Phenolgruppen pro Molekül und eine Alkylgruppe mit 12 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen besitzen.
