Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft neue Cyclopentanverbindungen der allgemeinen Formel I

oder aromatischen Carbonsäure, wie Acetyl, Pro-

deren Herstellung aus Bicyclohexanverbindungen der allgemeinen
Formel II

worin R die obige Bedeutung besitzt,
durch Isomerisierung mittels einer Säure sowie die Verwendung
der Verbindungen I zu ParfUmeriezwecken.
Die unter Oeffnung des Cyclopropanrlngs des Ausgangsmaterials
II verlaufende Isomerisierung wird zweckmässig bei Raumtemperatur durch Einwirkung von Salzsäure auf eine Lösung
des Ausgangsmaterials in Diisopropyläther ausgeführt. Als Säuren kommen an Stelle von Salzsäure auch andere Mineralsäuren«
wie Bromwasserstoffsäure, Schwefelsäure oder Phosphorsäure,
sowie starke organische Säuren» wie Trichloressigsäure
oder p-Toluolsulfonsäure in Frage.
Anstelle des besonders geeigneten Diisopropyläthers kommen als Lösungsmittel auch andere Di-niederalkyl-äther, wie
Dimethylather oder Dibutylather, sowie cyclische Aether, Glykol·
äther und Polyglykoläther und schliesslich auch Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol, in Betracht. Auch Alkohole (z.B. primäre,
sekundäre oder tertiäre niedere Alkanole mit bis zu 8C, wie

Aethanol, Propanol, Isobutanol) können als Lösungsmittel verwendet
werden, zumindest für veresterte Ausgangsmaterialien (d.h. für Verbindungen der Formel II mit R= Acyl). Für die freie
Hydroxymethy!verbindung (R der Formel II = H) eignen sich
Alkohole wegen der Bildung von unerwünschten Nebenprodukten weniger.
Der Reaktionsablauf, d.h. die Einstellung des Isomerisierungsgleichgewichts,
lässt sich durch gaschromatographische
Untersuchung von Proben verfolgen. Das Erreichen des Gleichgewichts
ist bis zu einem gewissen Grad von der Säurekonzentration im Reaktionsmedium abhängig. Bei Verwendung von etwa 8,4 ml
HCl conz. pro Liter Reaktionslösung und Arbeiten bei Raumtemperatur ist das Reaktionsgleichgewicht in der Regel nach
etwa 1 Tag erreicht, falls man vom freien Alkohol (R der Formel II = H) ausgeht. Bei Verwendung eines Esters als Ausgangsmaterial
(R der Formel II = Acyl), z.B. des Acetats, stellt sich das Reaktionsgleichgewicht etwas langsamer ein,
beispielsweise im Verlaufe von etwa 6 Tagen.
Das rohe Isomerisierungsprodukt enthält in der Regel
etwa J5O-5O# an dem gewünschten Cyclopentanderivat I. Bei
Verwendung des Acetats als Ausgangsmaterial (R der Formel II = Acetyl) ist der Anteil am gewünschten Cyclopentanderivat I
höher als bei Verwendung des freien Alkohols (R der Formel II = H), da weniger Nebenprodukte entstehen.
Das rohe Isomerisierungsprodukt lässt sich aus der Reaktionslösung nach üblichen Methoden isolieren, beispielsweise

Die Ausgangsstoffe der allgemeinen FormelII können im
Sinne des nachfolgenden Reaktionsschemas aus 35-Caren wie folgt erhalten werden:

j5-Caren (ill) wird mit einer Persäure, z.B. Monoperphthalsäure,
zum cc-Epoxycaran (IV) oxydiert, dieses zum j5-Formyl-j5,6#6-triniethyl-bicyclof5.1.0]hexan
(V) isomerisiert, zweckmässig durch heterogene Katalyse, und die genannte J3-Formyl-verbindung
(V) zur entsprechenden 3-Hydroxymethylverbindung
(VI) reduziert, beispielsweise mittels Diisobutylaluminiumhydrid.
Die 3-Hydroxymethyl-verbindung VI lässt sich nach an

sich bekannten Methoden verestern. So kann beispielsweise das

entsprechende Acetat (R der Formel II = Acetyl) durch Acetylierung
mit einem Acetanhydrid-Pyridin-Gemisch erhalten werden.
In Form von Estern erhaltene Verfahrensprodukte (R der Formel I = Acyl) können auf an sich bekannte Art zum freien
Alkohol (R der Formel I = H) verseift werden.
Der erfindungsgemäss erhältliche Alkohol, 1-Hydroxymethyl-i-methyl-3-isopropyliden-cyclopentan
(R der Formel I « H) zeichnet sich durch einen charakteristischen Geruch nach
Maiglöckchen und Flieder aus und kann demgemäss als Riechstoff
zu Perfümeriezwecken Verwendung finden, beispielsweise zur Herstellung von Riechstoffkompositionen, wie Parfüms,
oder zur ParfUmierung von kosmetischen Produkten aller Art, wie Seifen, Puder, Salben etc. Zu diesen Zwecken kann er erwünschtenfalls
mit den in der Riechstoffindustrie üblichen Lösungs- und Verdünnungsmitteln, weitern Riechstoffen und gegebenenfalls
mit Stabilisatoren, fixierend wirkenden Agenzien vermischt werden. Der Gehalt an l-Hydroxymethyl-l-methyl-jJ-isopropyliden-cyclopentan
in Riechstoffkompositionen kann z.B. 0,5 - 50 Gew.$ betragen.
Die Ester der Formel I (R= Acyl) können ebenfalls als
Riechstoffe oder als Zwischenprodukte zur Gewinnung des freien Alkohols (R der Formel I » H) Verwendung finden.

BAD ORIGINAL
In den nachfolgenden Beispielen sind die Temperaturen
in Celsiusgraden angegeben.
a) 20 g ^-
hexan werden in 600 ml Diisopropylather, enthaltend 5 ml
konzentrierte Salzsäure gelöst. Man lässt die Lösung 24 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur stehen, wonach sich das Reaktionsgleichgewicht
eingestellt hat. Nach Üblicher Aufarbeitung erhält man 19*5 ß Rohprodukt. Dieses besteht auf Grund der gaschromatographlsehen
Analyse zu etwa 3O# aus l-Hydroxymethyl-lmethyl-3-isopropyliden-cyclopentan.
Nach Reinigung mittels präparativer Gaschromatographie weist dieser nach Maiglöckchen und Flieder riechende Alkohol
folgende Konstanten auf: ;.

RWi-Spektrum: 3H(CH,) Singlett bei 0*96 p.p.».
6h Quadruplett bei 1,58 p.p.» ( =1,6 Hertz)

Das als Ausgangseat er i al verwendete 3~Hydro3tynetlqrl-3*6,6
trimethyl-blcyclo^.l.Olhexan kann wie folgt erhalten werden ι
M 245 β (l»8 NoI) 3-Caren werden in Verlaufe einer
Stunde zu 4600 ml einer auf 0* Äbeeköhlten 0,58 N, Ätherischen
von Monoperphthalsäure gegeben. Man lässt das Reaktionsgemisch
24 Stunden stehen, wobei die Temperatur auf etwa 20 ansteigt. Durch übliche Aufarbeitung erhält man l8o g σ^-Epoxy-caran vom
Siedepunkt 65°/5 mm; η£υ = 1,4644; £ = <*13,4.
c) 20 g (0,13 Mol) C^-Epoxy-caran werden in dampfförmigem
Zustand durch einen Reaktor geführt, der aus einem Glasrohr von 20 mm Durchmesser und 50 mm Länge besteht, mit Celite (0,2-0,3 nun
Korngrösse) gefüllt ist und sich in einem Ofen bei einer Temperatur
zwischen 180 und 1900 befindet. Man erhält I9 g Rohprodukt,
aus dem man nach Rektifikation T] g 3-Foririyl-3,6,6-trimethylbicyelo[3«l-0]hexan
isolieren kann. Siedepunkt 55 /5 η = 1,4611; ck^ = 0; Schmelzpunkt des Semicarbazons: I94
d) 37,5 g (0,25 Mol) 3-Formyl-3,6,6-trimethyl-bicyclo-[3«1.0]hexan
werden in 400 ml Petroläther gelöst. Diese Lösung wird im Verlaufe von 2 Stunden zu einer Lösung von 70 ml (0,38
Mol) Diisobutylalurainiumhydrid in 800 ml Petroläther zugefügt. Das Gemisch wird hierauf 2 Stunden unter Rückfluss gehalten.
Nach üblicher Aufarbeitung erhält man 37 S Rohprodukt und daraus, nach Rektifikation, ca. 30 g 3-Hydroxyraethyl-3,6,6-trimethylbicyclo[3.1.0)hexan
vom Siedepunkt 56° /2,5 mm; Schmelzpunkt 31-32° .
Dieser Alkohol lässt sich mit Acetanhydrid-Pyridin-Gemiseh
quantitativ zum entsprechenden Acetat verestern.

11 g 3-Acetoxymethyl-3,6i6-trimethyl-bicyclo[3.1.0jhexan
werden wie im Beispiel 1 beschrieben zum 1-Acetoxymethyl-l-methyl-3-isopropyliden-cyclopentan
isoraerisiert. Das Reaktionsgleichgewicht stellt sich bei Raumtemperatur im Verlaufe von etwa
6-Tagen ein. Naoh Extraktion erhält man 10 g Rohprodukt, das zu etwa 5055 aus dem gewünschten Cyclopentan-acetat besteht.
Durch Verseifung des erhaltenen Acetats mittels äthanolischer
Kalilauge erhält man den im Beispiel la beschriebenen Alkohol (l-Hydroxymethyl-l-methyl-3-isopropyliden-cyclopentan).
Das als Ausgangsmaterial verwendete 3-Aeetoxymethyl-3,6,6-trimethyl-bicyclo[3.1.0]hexan
kann durch Acetylierung des entsprechenden Alkohols (3-Hydroxymethyl-3,6,6-triraethyl-bicyclo·
C3.1.O]hexan mittels Acetanhydrid/Pyrldin in quantitativer Ausbeute erhalten werden.
Eine Riechstoffkomposition mit Fliedernote, enthaltend l-Hydroxymethyl-l-methyl-3-tsopropyliden-eyelopentan,
kann beispielsweise folgende Zusammensetzung aufweisent

Claims (1)
- Patentansprüche1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Verbindungen der all· gemeinen FormelH2ORworin R ein Wasserstoffatom oder den Acylrest einer bis zu 8 C-Atome enthaltenden aliphatischen oder aromatischen Carbonsäure bedeutet, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man eine Verbindung der allgemeinen FormelXi2ORW M(II)H9Cworin R die obige Bedeutung besitzt, der Isomerisierung mittels einer Säure unterwirft.2. Verfahren nach Anspruch I1 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man als Isomerislerungemittel Salzsäure verwendet.109843/19435. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man einen erhaltenen Ester zum Alkohol verseift.4. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1-3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man als Ausgangsmaterial eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel II verwendet, in der R den Acetylrest bedeutet.5. Riechstoffkomposition mit einem Gehalt an einer Verbindung der allgemeinen FormelHCH3CCH,worin R ein Wasserstoffatom oder den Acylrest einer bis zu 8 C-Atome enthaltenden aliphatischen "oder aromatischen Carbonsäure bedeutet.6. Riechstoffkomposition nach Anspruch 5 mit einem Gehalt an l-Hydroxymethyl-l-methyl-^-isopropyllden-cyclopentan.7. Verwendung von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel1098A3/1943H5C ^CH8worin R ein Wasserstoffatom oder den Acylrest einer bis zu 8 C-Atome enthaltenden aliphatischen oder aromatischen Carbonsäure bedeutet, als Riechstoffe.8. Verwendung von l-Hydroxymethyl-l-methyl-3-isopropyli· den-oyclopentan als Riechstoff.9.
