Flanfflischutzmittel-Komposition zum Nachausrüsten
von Textilien
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Flammschutzmittel, welches insbesondere zur Nachausrüstung von Textilien und anderen Flächengebilden brauchbar ist.
Es ist bereits bekannt, derartige Faserflächengebilde durch eine Nachbehandlung mit einer Lösung oder Dispersion von Paraffinen, Wachsen, Fettsäuren, nach-chloriertem Polyvinylchlorid und Antimontrioxyd flammfest zu machen. Derartige Mittel sind jedoch in der Praxis nur zum Flammfestmachen von Geweben und bindemittelfreien Vliesstoffen geeignet· Möchte man auch Vliesstoffe, insbesondere solche, die z.B. nach der englischen Patentschrift 1 055 187 hergestellt werden und die unter der Bezeichnung Spinn-Vliese bzw. spun-bonded fabrics im Handel sind, flammfest machen, so ergeben eich erhebliche Schwierigkeiten. Bindemittelg«bund«ne Vliesstoffe aind infolge des Bindemittelanteils in

gewissem Sinn schon von Haus aus mit einem Flammschutzmittel versehen· Sie entflammen schwerer als ein entsprechendes bindemittelfreies Faservlies. Hat jedoch ein derartiges Flächengebilde einmal Feuer gefangen, so schmilzt das darin enthaltene Bindemittel. Es ist dann nicht mehr möglich, das Feuer durch Schlagen mit den Händen oder Überwerfen von Decken zu löschen. Ausserdem würde beim Drücken eines solchen Gewebes die Schmelze auch auf die Haut des Trägers aufgedrückt werden und so schwerste Verbrennungen verursachen.
Obwohl also bindemittelgebundene Vliesstoffe verhältnismässig schwer entflammbar sind, ist andererseits, falls das Flächengebilde einmal Feuer gefangen hat, das Löschen insbesondere wegen des abtropfenden, geschmolzenen und ebenfalls brennenden Bindemittels ausserst schwierig.
Die Erfindung betrifft nun eine Flammschutzkomposition, mit deren Hilfe das Schmelzen und gefürchtete Abtropfen des Bindemittels selbst dann vermieden wird, wenn das Faserflächengebilde durch längeren Zontakt mit einer offenen Flamme Feuer gefangen hat.
Wie schon oben erwähnt, enthalten Vliesstoffe erhebliche Mengen an Bindemittel. Mengen von 8 - 70$, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht, sind üblich. Als Bindemittel kommen hauptsächlich Natur- und Kunstkautschuk sowie Aorylatharze infrage. Will man nun bei einem bindemittelgebundenen Vliesstoff verhindern, daß beim Trocknen Bindemittel schmilzt und abtropft, so verfährt man folgendermessen:

Das Vlies wird zunächst nur mit etwa der Hälfte der erforderlichen Bindemittelmenge (also Latex bzw. Acrylatharz) imprägniert,
Anschliessend trocknet man und imprägniert in einem zweiten Arbeitsgang mit einer Dispersion nach, deren Hauptbestandteile Polyvinylidenchlorid und Antimontrioxyd sind. Gleichzeitig muss diese Mischung optische Aufheller enthalten, da ansonsten das resultierende Flächengebilde eine schlechte Lichtbeständigkeit aufweisen würde.
Mit der anmeldungsgemässen Flammschutzmischung können selbstverständlich auch solche bindemittelgebundenen Vliesstoffe nachbehandelt werden, die nach anderen Verfahren als dem in der eingangs erwähnten englischen Patentschrift hergestellt wurden. Auf diese Patentschrift wurde nur deswegen verwiesen, weil die sog. Spinn-Vliese infolge ihres leichten Gewichtes und ihrer Porosität besonders schnell brennen, wodurch das Bindemittel zum Schmelzen kommt·
Das folgende Beispiel gibt eine Ausführungsform der Erfindung wieder:
Ein gemäss Beispiel 2 der englischen Patentschrift 1 055 187
2 hergestelltes Vlies mit einem Gewicht von 30 g/m wird mit einem Aerylatharz (Handelsname PRIMAL) derart nachimprägniert, daß nach dem anschliessenden Trocknen das Gewicht auf 50 g/m ansteift. Ein derart imprägniertes Vlies wird anschliessend nachimprägniert mit folgender Mischung:

Nach der Imprägnierung wird das Vlies zwischen zwei Walzen derart abgequetscht, daß nach dem Trocknen das Gewicht nach dem 2. Arbeitsgang von 50 auf 58 g/m steigt.
Nach dem Trocknen erhält man einen Vliesstoff, der beim dauernden Kontakt mit einer offenen Flamme verbrennt, ohne daß dabei Schmelze abtropft. Der resultierende Vliesstoff zeichnet sich auch durch seine Weichheit und Geschmeidigkeit aus. Würde man das erfindungsgemässe Flammschutzmittel schon dem Bindemittel bei der Erst-(und dann Einzig -) Imprägnierung zusetzen, so würden weniger weiche Produkte anfallen.

1) Flanmschutzmittel-Komposition zum Nachausrüsten von Textilien, insbesondere leichten, bindemittelgebundenen Vliesstoffen, bestehend aus einer wässrigen Dispersion von etwa gleichen Teilen Polyvinyliden und Antimontrioxyd sowie untergeordneten Mengen eines optischen Aufhellers,
2) Flammschutzmittel-Kompoaition gemäss Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß diese zusätzlich noch Emulgatoren und Stabilisatoren enthält.
