Description
Die Erfindung richtet sich auf ein korrosionsverhinderndes
Mittel, insbesondere zum Schutz von Drähten, Drahtlitzen und Drahtseilen gegen Korrosion.
Blei und verschiedene Bleiverbindungen sind für ihre
chemische Widerstandsfähigkeit gegenüber einer Vielzahl von korrosiven Einwirkungen bekannt. Allerdings unterliegt
die Anwendung dieser Werkstoffe bisher in Hinblick auf die folgenden Gesiclatspunkte beträchtlichen Einschränkungen:
a) die hohen Kosten;
b) das hohe spezifische Gewicht und dementsprechend die Schwierigkeit zur Erhaltung von Dispersionen in einem

einwandfreien Zustand vor und während ihrer Anwendung;
c) die Schwierigkeit beim finden eines wirksamen Dispersionsmittels, welches Elastomer-Eigenschaften aufweist.
Die Erfindung umfasst ein korrosionsverhinderndes Mittel, bestehend aus einem Dispersionsmittel und in diesem feinverteiltem
Material, welches einen Überzug aus Blei oder einer Bleilegierung oder Zinn oder einer Zinnlegierung aufweist.
Das spezifische Gewicht des Dispersionsmittels liegt etwa bei 1,1 mit einer möglichen Schwankung von etwa 25 $>·
Das feinverteilte Material selbst kann aus einer G-roßzahl
von Materialien ausgewählt werden, die billiger als Blei sind und deren spezifisches Gewicht eine gute Suspension
innerhalb des Dispersionsmittels gewährleistet.
ι Vor dem Zusatz des feinverteilten Materials zu dem Disper-ί
sionemittel wird einfach ein dünner homogener Überzug von Blei oder einer entsprechenden Legierung auf die gesamte
Oberfläche der das feinverteilte Material bildenden Teilchen aufgebracht.
Vorzugsweise liegt das feinverteilte Material in Form von
Schuppen oder Plättchen vor, und im Folgenden sind die

"bevorzugten Werkstoffe aufgezählt:
i) Metall: Aluminium oder seine legierungen, Magnesium
oder seine legierungen;
ii) Organische Elastomere: Polyvinylchlorid, Polyäthylen, Polypropylen, Nylon od. dgl.;
iii)Anorganischer Werkstoff: Glimmer, Asbest, Vermiculit
oder in einen entsprechenden Zustand und entsprechende Größe gebrachtes glimmerhaltiges Eisenerz mit einer
Feinheit von unter 200 Maschen.
Wird ein unüberzogenes feinverteiltes Material der Kategorie i) verwendet, soll das spezifische Gewicht so groß sein,
daß es sich in dem Dispersionsmittel abzusetzen trachtet. Findet dagegen ein Material der Kategorie ii) Verwendung,
so soll das spezifische Gewicht etwa zwischen 0,90 und 2,20 liegen. Infolgedessen ist es möglich, ein Material auszuwählen,
welches auch dann in Suspension bleibt, wenn es mit einem dünnen Überzug eines Metalls, wie z.B. Blei, versehen
ist. In gleicher Weise erlauben auch die in der Kategorie iii) aufgeführten Materialien eine entsprechende Korn- ·
bination.
Daraus ergibt sich, daß bei sorgfältiger Auswahl des feinverteilten
Mittels es möglich ist, eine weit größere Gewähr ■ bei der Erhaltung der umhüllten Teilchen im Zustand der

Suspension zu haben. Dadurch, wird ein übermäßiges Absetzen
in Aufbewahrungsbehälterri vermieden, was bei Metalldispersionen
üblicherweise ein 'schwieriges Problem darstellt. Weitere Vorteile für den G-ebrauch ergeben sich
insofern, als eine bessere Dispersion des feinverteilten
Materials bei verdampfendem Lösungsmittelgehalt erhalten
bleibt.
Als Dispersionsmittel kann jedes synthetische Kunstharz verwendet werden, welches bei Raumtemperatur eine viskose
Flüssigkeit ist, die sich zu einer geregelten progressiven
Polymerisation durch Vermischen mit einem entsprechenden Anteil eines reaktionsfähigen Zwischenmittels"eignet.
Bevorzugte Beispiele für ein solches Zwischenmittel sind (a) Benzoyl - Peroxyd, (b) ein pflanzliches öl, wie z.B,
Leinöl oder Jedes Öl mit trocknenden oder halbtrocknenden Eigenschaften.
Andererseits können auch Mittel tierischen Ursprungs, wie z.B. lanolin, die polymerisierbar sind, Verwendung finden.
Ein solches Gemisch reagiert unter Erzielung bestimmter gewünschter .physikalischer und chemischer Eigenschaften.
Ein spezielles Beispiel eines Gemische dieser Art wird von der Firma Bakelite Limited unter dem Namen "Grade R.
502" in den Handel gebracht.

Vorzugsweise wird das feinverteilte Material mit dem Überzugsmittel im Verhältnis von 2 bis 15 Gew.-# an
Überzugmittel je Gewichtseinheit des feinverteilten Materials
zerkleinert.
Eine geeignete Teilchengröße für die zur Bildung des Oberflächenüberzugs erforderlichen fein zu mahlenden
Bleipartikel ist ein Staub von etwa 100 Maschen, vor_ zugsweise 0 - 200 Maschen.
Das bevorzugte Überzugmaterial ist Blei. Geringe Zusätze von Zinn verbessern die Zähigkeit des Metallüberzugs,
ohne dessen Gleitfähigkeit zu zerstören, während andererseits Antimon die Härte beträchtlich erhöhen kann. Die
minimale Menge an Überzugmetall muß gewährleisten, daß ein dünner, aber durchgehender Überzug zum völligen Einhüllen
des Trägermittels erzielt wird. Infolgedessen darf die
Menge nicht unter etwa 2 $> nach dem Volumen liegen.
Hinsichtlich der maximalen Menge erscheint es technisch nicht vorteilhaft, 10 $ nach dem Volumen zu überschreiten
wenn ein reines Überzugmetall eingeschlossen ist, während Legierungen die Verwendung eines etwas höheren Prozentsatzes
erlauben.
Der optimale Prozentsatz liegt im Bereich von etwa 5 i>

bezogen auf die Volumina*
Die eigentliche Wirkungsweise der Umhüllung ist zweifach, indem die Staubteilchen des Metalls an der Oberfläche des
Träger-Elestomers oder anorganischen Materials anhaften und infolge ihrer geringen Größe unter leichtem Druck
deformierbar und streichbar sind. Andererseits besteht die Möglichkeit der elektrostatischen Anziehung. Gleichzeitig
werden die größeren Metallteilchen in die Oberfläche des Trägermaterials eingedrückt und, wenn sie einmal
mechanisch anhaften, werden die oberflächlichen Unregelmäßigkeiten durch den MahlVorgang plastisch verformt
und gegeneinander verstrichen. Die zweckmäßigste Methode der Überprüfung ist die Technik der Parbmakroskopie.
Die Farbprüfung wird unter Verwendung eines Reagent's ausgeführt,
welches ein leuchtendes oder unterscheidungskräftigee
Pigment bildet, wenn es mit dem umhüllten Metall oder der legierung reagiert» Dann folgt die makroskopische
Prüfung einer ausreichenden Menge des Materials um sicher zustellen, daß die Umhüllung der Partikel vollständig ist
und das metallische Mittel das Trägermaterial tatsächlich überzogen hat und nicht lediglich eine trockene Dispersion
bildet.

Beispielsweise hat Nylonpulver ein weiBes, fast kristalli- I
nes Aussehen, während es nach dem Mahlvorgang grau erscheintj Wird es dann mit angesäuertem Kaliumbichromat behandelt
ι und mit Wasser ausgewaschen, "bildet sich ein durchgehender
tiefgelber Film, über die gesamten Teilchen und zeigt zuverlässig
die vollständige Umhüllung an.
Dieselbe Erscheinung ergibt sich, wenn Aluminium mit Blei umhüllt wird. j
Der MahlVorgang kann in einer Kugelmühle, einer lollenmühle
oder dgl. durchgeführt werden, wobei ein dünner kontinuierlicher Überzug erzielt wird.
Der abschliessende Schritt zur Erzielung des gewünschten
Schutz- und Schmiermittels ist die Dispersion des G-emischs
von Metall und schuppenförmigen bzw. plättchenförmige»
Material in dem synthetischen Harz auf beliebige Weise, im allgemeinen in Gegenwart einer geringen Menge eines organischen
Lösungsmittels, welches den Mischvorgang begünstigt. Wenn dieser Ansatz in Gegenwart von luft auf die Metallfläche
angewendet wird, verflüchtigt sich das Lösungsmittel durch Verdunstung.
Auf diese Weise erzielte Schutzüberzüge führen zu einem unbegrenzten Schutz für Eisenflächen sowohl gegenüber

sauren, als auch alkalischen Einwirkungen. Sie sind von besonderer Bedeutung für die Hefstellung und die Weiterverarbeitung
von Stahldraht, bei welchem das zum Schutz der Drähte gegen Korrosion erforderliche Mittel gleichzeitig
als Schmiermittel dienen muß, wenn das Seil einer dynamischen Belastung ausgesetzt ist.
Ferner sind Ansätze dieser Arir außerordentlich stabil über
einen beträchtlichen Temperaturbereich, und sie haben eine hohe Adhäsionskraft. Andererseits können sie gegebenenfalls
mit Hilfe eines entsprechenden Lösungsmittels bzw. Lösungsmittelgemischs
leicht entfernt werden. Sie können jedoch auch leicht durch Anstreichen oder Sprühen wieder aufgebracht
werden, was. eine einfache Überprüfung und Wiederversiegelung ermöglicht·
Versuche haben ergeben, daß bei Verwendung des gleichen Basisharzes als Dispergenz das mit Blei umhüllte Aluminium-Plättchen
eine um 2 $> erhöhte Schmierwirkung gegenüber unbehandelten
Aluminium-Plättchen von der gleichen Größe aufweist·
