虽然现有技术已经公开了多种设计的涂层纸,尤其是电子照相感光纸,但是已知的设计都没有克服以下缺点:涂料光泽度不够、调色剂粘附差、亮度低、起泡、送纸阻塞(feeding jam)和过多的静电累积。本发明的目的在于克服涂层纸的这些性能缺点。
发明概述
根据本发明,涂层产品包括一种至少在一面上涂有涂料组合物的纸基质,该涂料组合物含有一种颜料成分和由两种粘合剂树脂混合物组成的粘合剂成分。两种粘合剂树脂都能够形成膜。第一种粘合剂树脂提供涂料光泽度和粘附性质。第二种粘合剂树脂提高涂料孔隙率、粘附和抗静电性质。第一种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的60-95%,选自醋酸乙烯酯丙烯酸酯,苯乙烯丙烯酸酯和苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸酯共聚物。第二种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的5-40%,其选自阴离子类型聚苯乙烯衍生物、聚乙二醇和聚丙二醇。
本发明涂层的产品具有高亮度、高光泽度和优良的印刷品质。抛光涂层的GE亮度为93-99。TAPPI 75等级光泽度为70-90。而且,本发明涂层的电子照相纸表现出高的抗起泡性。与现有的市售产品相比,它还具有优良的印刷光泽度和较高的印刷密度。
在对本发明的优选实施方案进行说明性的而非限定性的详细描述时,本发明的其他目的、特征和优点将是明显的。
发明详述
总体上,本发明提供了一种含有颜料成分和粘合剂成分的涂料组合物。粘合剂成分优选为至少两种成膜粘合剂树脂的混合物。
根据本发明,涂料组合物被涂布在至少一个基质表面上,形成涂层的产品。可以在基质的两面或多层中涂布该涂料组合物。在一个可选的实施方案中,将预涂层或底涂层涂布于基质表面,然后再涂布涂料组合物。预涂层或底涂层和涂料组合物可以是相同组合物,也可以不同。如以下实施例所述,优选的底涂层含有颜料成分和淀粉粘合剂。典型地,基质表面上的每一涂层的涂料重量为8-20gsm。
在一个优选应用中,用于电子照相印刷的有光泽的涂层纸具有高亮度、高光泽度和优良的印刷品质。由于基质的性质能够影响涂层基质的性能,因此涂料基质的选择是非常重要的。
基质具有能够提高涂层电子照相纸的有益性质或优点的一种或多种必需性质。这些性质是平滑度、内结合(internal bonds)、亮度、硬度、结构和大小。基纸的平滑度可以影响最终涂层的平滑度。一般而言,在相同的涂料重量下,更平滑的基纸可以导致更平滑的表面抛光。所以,具有低平滑度的基纸优选用作涂料基质。高Scott内结合值是优选的,因为具有高Scott内结合值的纸基质有利于涂层纸的抗起泡性。由于涂层纸的亮度在很大程度上取决于基纸的亮度,因此为了在最终产品中获得高亮度,基纸的亮度应是适当高的。使用高亮度颜料和光学增亮剂,可以使涂层的亮度明显高于涂料基质的亮度。然而,如果希望获得非常高的亮度值,基纸的亮度应该是足够的。
基纸的形成指数应该大于70。形成指数值低的基纸在纸的性质方面不一致。整个纸上具有不均匀的孔隙率值的纸基质更易于起泡。此外,对于静电控制和静电图像转印过程而言,基纸的电学性质是至关重要的。
优选的基质是满足以下要求的纸基质:GE亮度值为85-96%。基本重量值为70gsm-250gsm。Gurley孔隙率值为0-500秒。含水量为2%-5%。原纸坯料的平滑度是非常关键的。优选的表面平滑度范围为30-250Sheffield单位。Scott结合值为90-500;表面电阻率值为1×108-1×1012欧姆/平方;Kajaani形成指数值为60-100。
选择粘合剂树脂,以使所得的涂料具有高光泽度、高亮度、高抗起泡性、调色剂粘附力提高和优良的图像质量。合适的粘合剂为醋酸乙烯酯丙烯酸酯共聚物,苯乙烯丙烯酸酯胶乳和苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸酯共聚物。醋酸乙烯酯丙烯酸酯共聚物的实例包括来自NationalStarch的Resyn 25-1155和Resyn 25-1151、来自Omnova Solution,Inc.的Sunbond聚醋酸乙烯酯树脂、来自Specialty Polymers,Inc的H1R038聚醋酸乙烯酯。苯乙烯丙烯酸酯的实例包括来自BASF的Acronal树脂、来自Dow Chemicals的苯乙烯丙烯酸共聚物乳液树脂和来自Specialty Polymers,Inc.的苯乙烯丙烯酸树脂。苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸共聚物的实例包括来自Dow Chemicals的苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯腈共聚物、来自BASF的Styronal树脂、来自Omnova Solutions,Inc.的Gencryl和Genflo树脂。
粘合剂树脂的选择对于涂层电子照相纸的性能是至关重要的。首先,粘合剂树脂必须具有好的成膜能力,以形成连贯的涂层,并提供足够的涂料粘附力和调色剂粘附力。粘合剂树脂必须能够使涂料具有足够的孔隙率,以防止在热的溶凝器(fuser)中在热和压力下涂料起泡。为了选择适当类型的粘合剂来应用,粘合剂树脂的玻璃化转变温度是应该考虑的一个重要参数。涂料孔隙率和光泽表现的适当平衡对于高性能涂层电子照相纸的发展是至关重要的。本发明发现,通过将两种成膜树脂混合为粘合剂树脂可以增加涂料孔隙率。第一种粘合剂树脂提供涂料光泽度和粘附力性质。第二种粘合剂树脂提高涂料孔隙率、粘附力和抗静电性质。第一种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的60-95%,选自醋酸乙烯酯丙烯酸酯,苯乙烯丙烯酸酯和苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸共聚物。第二种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的5-40%,选自阴离子类型的聚苯乙烯衍生物,聚乙二醇和聚丙二醇。
示例性的合适的颜料是微粒尺寸在0.05-5微米范围内的三水合铝的精细粉末、高岭粘土、碳酸钙、缎光白、硅石、水合硅酸铝(aluminasilicate)。优选的颜料是微粒尺寸在0.05-5微米范围内的三水合铝的精细粉末、高岭粘土和碳酸钙。任选地,塑性颜料可用来增加涂料光泽度。塑性颜料的实例包括来自Rohm和Haas的Ropaque 1055、来自DoW Chemicals的HS 2000、HS 3000、DPP 710、DPP。
更优选的颜料是微粒尺寸在0.05-5微米范围内的三水合铝的精细粉末、高岭粘土和泥土和沉淀碳酸钙。
颜料可以有能够增强涂层EP纸有益性质的一种或多种必需性质。这些性质是高亮度值、精细微粒尺寸、易于分散、高孔隙率和好的流变性质。
涂料中粘合剂的量一般占涂料总重量的约8%-约25%重量。涂料中粘合剂的量优选为约10%-约22%重量。
涂料中颜料的量一般占涂料总重量的约50%-约90%重量。涂料中颜料的量优选为约70%-约85%重量。
通过下面的实施例更详细地说明本发明,而没有在任何意义上对要求保护的组合物或方法的范围进行限制。如果没有其它特别说明,在实施例中使用以下的测试方法来测定涂层产品的物理性质。
根据TAPPI标准程序T452来测量GE亮度。根据TAPPI标准程序T480,通过75等级光泽度来测量涂料的光泽度(shininess)。根据TAPPI标准程序T460来测量空气阻力。
CIE L*、a*和b*值是纸的颜色或色调的量度(Tappi测试方法T524)。它们对于纸的外观是重要的。L*表示亮度,从表示黑的0到表示纯白的100。如果值是正的,a*表示纸的红色,当值是负的,表示绿色。b*表示纸的黄色(如果值是正的),如果值是负的,表示蓝色。

Claims (24)

1.一种涂料组合物,所述涂料组合物包括:
颜料成分;和
粘合剂成分,其中所述粘合剂成分是至少两种成膜粘合剂树脂的混合物。
2.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其中所述粘合剂成分是选自醋酸乙烯酯丙烯酸酯共聚物、苯乙烯丙烯酸酯胶乳、苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸酯共聚物、聚醋酸乙烯酯、苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯腈共聚物、styronal、阴离子类型聚苯乙烯衍生物、聚乙二醇和聚丙二醇的粘合剂树脂。
3.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其中所述粘合剂成分包括选自醋酸乙烯酯、苯乙烯丙烯酸酯和苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸酯共聚物的第一种粘合剂树脂,和选自阴离子类型聚苯乙烯衍生物、聚乙二醇和聚丙二醇的第二种粘合剂树脂。
4.根据权利要求3的涂料组合物,其中所述第一种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的60-95%重量,所述第二种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的5-40%重量。
5.根据权利要求3的涂料组合物,其中所述第一种粘合剂树脂提供涂料光泽度和粘附力性质,所述第二种粘合剂树脂提供孔隙率、粘附力和抗静电性质。
6.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其中所述颜料成分以50-90%干重存在,所述粘合剂成分以8-25%干重存在。
7.根据权利要求1的涂料组合物,其中所述颜料成分包括选自三水合铝粉末、高岭粘土、碳酸钙、缎光白、硅石、水合碳酸铝和塑性颜料的颜料。
8.根据权利要求7的涂料组合物,其中所述颜料微粒尺寸为0.05-5微米。
9.一种涂层的产品,其包括涂布在至少一个基质表面上的加颜料涂料组合物;其中所述加颜料涂料组合物含有颜料成分和粘合剂成分;其中所述粘合剂成分是至少两种成膜粘合剂树脂的混合物。
10.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述粘合剂成分是选自醋酸乙烯酯丙烯酸酯共聚物、苯乙烯丙烯酸酯胶乳、苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸酯共聚物、聚醋酸乙烯酯、苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯腈共聚物、styronal、阴离子类型聚苯乙烯衍生物、聚乙二醇和聚丙二醇的粘合剂树脂。
11.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述粘合剂成分含有选自醋酸乙烯酯、苯乙烯丙烯酸酯和苯乙烯丁二烯丙烯酸酯共聚物的第一种粘合剂树脂,和选自阴离子类型聚苯乙烯衍生物、聚乙二醇和聚丙二醇的第二种粘合剂树脂。
12.根据权利要求11的涂层的产品,其中所述第一种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的60-95%重量,所述第二种粘合剂树脂占粘合剂树脂混合物总重量的5-40%重量。
13.根据权利要求11的涂层的产品,其中所述第一种粘合剂树脂提供涂料光泽度和粘附力性质,所述第二种粘合剂树脂提供孔隙率、粘附力和抗静电性质。
14.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述颜料成分以50-90%干重存在,所述粘合剂成分以8-25%干重存在。
15.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述颜料成分含有选自三水合铝粉末、高岭粘土、碳酸钙、缎光白、硅石、水合碳酸铝和塑性颜料的颜料。
16.根据权利要求15的涂层的产品,其中所述颜料微粒尺寸为0.05-5微米。
17.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述加颜料涂料组合物在所述基质的两面。
18.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述基质的至少一面首先涂有底涂层,并且所述加颜料涂料组合物是所述底涂层上的面涂层。
19.根据权利要求18的涂层的产品,其中所述底涂层含有颜料成分和淀粉。
20.根据权利要求18的涂层的产品,其中所述底涂层是与所述面涂层相同的组合物。
21.根据权利要求18的涂层的产品,其中所述底涂层和所述面涂层的涂料重量为8-20gsm。
22.根据权利要求18的涂层的产品,在所述基质两面上进一步含有底涂层。
23.根据权利要求23的涂层的产品,在所述底涂层两面上进一步含有颜料涂料组合物。
24.根据权利要求9的涂层的产品,其中所述基质是纸。
