Abstract

本发明涉及打印机和复印机技术的改进,具体地涉及按需喷墨打印机,更具体地涉及具有打印宽度按需喷墨固定打印头系统的组合式打印扫描仪,用户能够使打印头系统扫过某一表面,从而进行扫描和打印操作。
背景技术
已知的现有技术中,打印机一般和打印介质供应器结合使用,并采用打印介质传送机构将打印介质输送经过打印头,使得可以在打印介质上打印。在打印操作期间必须保持打印介质速度和打印头的打印速度同步,以保证如实复制出要打印的图象。迄今为止,实现打印介质和打印头的同步的方法一直较为简单,因为打印介质传送机构,包括打印介质供应器,是打印机或者复印件的必要部件。因此,打印介质的速度是已知并固定的,就是打印头和打印控制器的工作速度,实现这些部件之间的同步是利用简单的机械部件例如齿轮,步进马达等等。
然而,这种部件特别需要在打印机内部容纳打印介质供应器,这些打印机体积更大且重量更重(比起不需要在打印机内部容纳供应器)。甚至在更加紧凑的仅采用了单片集成电路的页宽按需喷墨打印头设置的打印机和复印件中(打印头是固定的),仍然需要在打印机中必不可少地包括打印介质供应器和打印介质驱动机构,以确保喷墨和走纸恰好同步。因而这限制了打印机尺寸的最小化的可能性。
传统的影印机是体积很大的非便携式设备。现代的个人电脑如果具有与其通讯的扫描仪和打印机,那么它就可以完成大体积的影印机的基本功能。影印机碰到上述同样的问题。就是说,它们必须存储打印介质,并提供必要的打印介质传送组件以在打印的时候把介质引导通过打印机构。

发明内容
本发明的第一方面公开了一个组合式打印扫描仪,可以由用户将其相对于某一表面移动,能够在扫描模式和打印模式下运转,该打印扫描仪包括:
一个速度传感器,用于测量用户相对于该表面移动打印扫描仪的速度;
一个扫描装置,当打印扫描仪运转在扫描模式下时,它与速度传感器同步,随着用户相对于该表面移动打印扫描仪,可以获取代表该表面上图象中的图象数据;
一个存储器,用于存储所述图象数据;
一个打印头装置,当打印扫描仪运转在打印模式下时,它与速度传感器同步,随着用户相对于一打印介质移动所述打印扫描仪,可以将所述图象数据打印到所述打印介质上;
一个机箱,用于容纳所述速度传感器、所述扫描装置、所述存储器和所述打印头装置;和
一个电源,该电源放在所述机箱中,该电源包括一个盒子,所述盒子中设有电池和墨水源,可从所述机箱中取下该盒子,以便能够基本同时地取下并更换所述电池和墨水源。
优选地,所述打印头装置包括多个喷墨嘴。
优选地,所述打印扫描仪还包括一个打印控制器,它用于:
(a)把存储在所述存储器中的所述图象数据转换成一组墨滴喷射(dropejection)控制信号;
(b)接收来自速度传感器的速度数据,该速度数据指示用户相对于所述打印介质移动所述打印扫描仪的速度;以及
(c)根据墨滴喷射控制信号,以速度数据所确定的速率操纵打印头装置中的喷墨嘴,由此将所述图象数据打印到所述打印介质上。
优选地,所述速度传感器包括一个光学编码轮,该编码轮可以和所述表面接触,并且当打印扫描仪横向通过该表面的时候能够旋转。
优选地,所述光学编码轮包括:
一系列圆周间隔排列的标记;和
一个光学传感器,在所述光学编码轮转动时,探测通过光学传感器的上述标记。
优选地,所述打印扫描仪还包括:
一个封盖装置,能在一个封盖位置和一个未封盖位置之间切换,在所述封盖位置,封盖装置基本上阻塞所述喷墨嘴喷墨,在所述未封盖位置,所述封盖装置基本上不会阻塞所述喷墨嘴喷墨;和
一个封盖致动装置,布置在打印扫描仪中,以便用户相对于打印介质移动打印头装置的时候可以操作。
打印扫描仪最好还包括一个偏压元件,它可以把封盖装置向所述封盖位置偏压。
优选地,所述封盖装置包括一个枢转地装在打印机上的安装部位和一个封盖臂,该封盖臂基本上垂直地从安装部位延伸到远端,这个远端邻近喷墨嘴,使得所述封盖装置装在所述打印扫描仪上并处于所述封盖位置时能够基本上阻塞所述喷墨嘴喷墨。
所述打印扫描仪最好还包括一个指垫,它在封盖装置的安装部件上形成。
优选地,所述存储器还可以存储可打印信息,优选地,所述打印头装置可以在用户相对于打印介质移动打印扫描仪时将所述可打印信息打印到声速打印介质上。
优选地,所述可打印信息是通过通信接收器从外部源接收到所述打印扫描仪。优选地,所述通信接收器是红外接收器,优选地所述打印扫描仪最好还包括一个红外窗口,红外信号可以通过它到达红外接收器。
优选地,所述打印扫描仪还包括一个墨水源,它可以存储墨水并将所述墨水供应给所述打印头装置。

如图2所示,该打印扫描仪10也能够在用户的控制下沿着箭头21所示的方向横向通过页面20a,从而在页面20a上打印出图象22a。这幅打印的图象可以是图象22的复制品,也可以是其它任何图象,这取决于在那种模式下使用所述打印扫描仪。
图3示出了打印扫描仪10的分解图。打印扫描仪10包括一个下模塑件11、一个上模塑件12和一个可移动端盖13,它们每个都可以由任何适宜的塑料、金属或者类似材料制成。
上模塑件和下模塑件中每个都包括介质滑板(media slide)14,它在上模塑件和下模塑件的底表面的两端形成。滑板14从所述模塑件的底表面上突出,因而在打印扫描仪横向通过打印介质的时候可提升打印扫描仪。从而使得打印头和打印介质之间的摩擦最小化,并且可防止打印扫描仪接触到未干的打印墨水而弄污打印好的图象。
连接时,在所述上模塑件和下模塑件之间露出一喷墨缝15(图5),打印的时候由它喷出墨水。封盖装置50绕着一个枢轴点在一个封盖位置和一个未封盖位置之间转动,处于所述封盖位置时,封盖装置50的封盖臂52盖住喷墨缝15,处于所述未封盖位置时,喷墨不受限制。封盖装置50通过与所述封盖一体形成的指垫55来操作。
在内部,打印扫描仪10包括一个打印头组件30,其中设置有多个墨水分配通道,这些通道通向与喷墨缝15对准的喷墨嘴31阵列,喷墨缝15形成于上模塑件12和下模塑件11之间。墨水源32储存墨水,为了进行全色打印,优选地有四种颜色也即青色(cyan)、品红色(magenta)、黄色和黑色。替代地或附加地,还可以提供红外墨水。墨水盒32通过一个墨水连接器33向打印组件30的墨水分配通道供应墨水。
任何已知的打印头组件盒供墨系统都可用于本发明,因而这里省去了对这些部件进一步的描述。从本文开始所列出的共同待批申请中可获知适用于本发明的打印头组件和供墨系统的详细情况。
一个扫描头61集成到下模塑件11之中,并通过一个柔性印刷电路板34连通电源并传递信号数据。扫描头61可以是任何适于便携式手持扫描的普通头或者最新的扫描头。
打印控制器36(未示出)包括一个微处理器,它将存储在打印扫描仪存储器中的图象数据转换成“墨滴喷射”电信号序列。在打印操作期间,这些信号以已知的方式和打印头组件30之间进行通讯,以使喷墨嘴31选择性地喷出墨水。
所述打印扫描仪存储器一般通过柔性印刷电路板34接收来自扫描头61的图象数据。
打印控制器36还可以和外部设备通讯,以便接收打印指令特别是数字图象数据。在所述的实施例中,在打印扫描仪10的一端面板上形成一个红外(IR)接收器窗口37,可以通过它将数字图象数据以红外信号提供给打印控制器36。IR接收器37和打印控制器微处理器36电连接,并将所接收的数据存储到存储器中。在另一实施例中(未示出),打印控制器的微处理器可以通过其它任何合适的连接器例如硬线连接器连接到别的电子设备(如计算机、扫描仪、复印机、数码相机等等)、无线远程通讯(如WAP等等);或者通过插头与插座连接或通过数据端口。其它信息,例如打印控制指令,也可以通过上述系统从外部设备提供给打印扫描仪。在另一个实施例中,打印控制器的微处理器具有自己产生图象的能力。
所述上模塑件和下模塑件提供一个凹腔用于放置电池42,例如两节1.5V“AAA”电池。柔性印刷电路板(PCB)34上带有母线(未示出),将电池42的电能输送到打印头组件30、打印控制器微处理器36和其它任何需电的组件。
在打印扫描仪10的一个端面上有一个电源开关43,可由用户操作,而使得所述打印扫描仪在通电和断电模式间切换。
电池42可以通过一个形成于上模塑件和下模塑件之间的开口46从打印扫描仪10上取出。墨盒可通过类似的开口47取出与更换。如图3所示,先将端盖13从打印扫描仪10上取下,以露出开口46和47,之后就可以更换电池和/或墨盒。在未示出的另一个实施例中,所述电池和墨盒可以放在一个可移动的盒中而作为一个整体单元,只需在打印扫描仪10的一端形成一个开口,以放入所述盒子。
多个指示状态的发光二极管(LED)49a、49b、49c(图4)和微处理器电连接,并且安置打印扫描仪10的外表面。各个发光二极管可用于指示错误状态,例如电池不足、墨水不足、或者打印扫描仪的一般性操作错误状态以及打印扫描仪的的ON/OFF状态。
为了进行扫描操作,用户首先要利用电开关43将设备打开。然后按下“扫描”按钮,或者以别的方式操纵该设备,使得设备进入扫描模式。接下来可以如图1所示在图象上拖动所述打印扫描仪,使得扫描头61扫描预先打印好的图象22,存储到一单板的存储芯片等上。
为了进行打印操作,用户首先以下述方式致动封盖装置50,使得打印头芯片31(图5)暴露于打印介质。打印介质可以是任何合适的能够印上打印扫描仪中存储的墨水的纺织品,还可以是纸张、纸板、木制品、织物和塑料。打印扫描仪10还可包括控制按钮,用户按下它以对打印进行初始化,即在打印控制微处理器的控制下打印头开始喷墨。或者,封盖16的致动可以作为一个信号被探测,该信号表明用户将要开始打印。然后如图2所示,用户将打印扫描仪10横向通过打印介质20。
为了控制打印速率,打印扫描仪10包括一个光学编码轮39(图3),它连接到打印头组件30的一端。光学编码轮39置于分别在上模塑件和下模塑件中形成的槽41a、41b中,并且从模塑件开始延伸,直到轮子39的边缘和纸张滑板14平齐(参见图5)。当轮子39转动的时候,由一个光学传感器读下该光学编码轮39上的圆周间隔排列的标记。
所述光学传感器包括一个光源(例如LED)和一个光探测器。光探测器根据入射到该探测器上的光量大小产生一个电响应。编码轮39的反射性质在标记处和非标记处是不同的,因而,当所述标记转过所述探测器的时候,所述探测器中会产生一个变化的响应。由探测器的响应频率来确定所述编码轮旋转的速度。探测器的响应被连接到打印控制微处理器36,由微处理器36利用该信号来算出打印头组件在打印介质上移动的速度。然后,打印控制器使墨滴喷射控制信号发送到喷墨嘴的速度和所测定的打印扫描仪移动的速度同步。因此,打印扫描仪10能够保证连续的打印线具有一个合适的打印点距,从而准确地复制出打印图象,——尽管所述打印扫描仪并不能控制打印介质相对于打印头移动的速度。
此外,如果编码轮39上的标记数足够多,那么,即使用户使打印扫描仪通过打印介质时改变移动速度,微处理器36也能够很快地适应于这种速度变化,由此获得高质量图象。
类似地,如果需要使扫描速度和设备在预先打印好的图象上移动的速度同步,可把光学编码轮39和扫描头61的功能结合起来。
在打印头组件30的相对的一端装有一个滚轮44,以保持打印扫描仪的稳定并能控制方向。可用一轴将滚轮44和编码轮39连接起来,以使两个轮子的转速同步,并由此使设备在页面上保持正确的直线轨迹。
光学编码轮39或者滚轮44可以具有如摩擦离合器之类的速度限制装置,以防止用户沿打印介质移动打印扫描仪时的速率超过打印头组件30工作时所能达到的最大速率。此外,任一轮子或者两个轮子具有如棘轮这类的系统,用于防止打印扫描仪在与打印方向相反的方向上移动。
在文件号为AP44、名称为“带封盖装置的打印机(Printer with Capping Device)”、和本申请同时申请的共同待批申请中记载了封盖结构50的运转情况。
接触传感器(未示出)可以探测到封盖50移到未封盖位置,并将封盖的这种状态发送到打印控制微处理器36,使得仅仅在封盖50处于未封盖位置时才试图进行打印操作。
本发明中的打印扫描仪10可包括一些键,用它们控制微处理器完成从外部设备下载图象数据和对未完成的打印工作复位等等之类的打印扫描仪操作,可使打印扫描仪在一幅图象的开始处开始打印。或者,可以通过前面所述的红外数据端口来将这些功能指令传递到所述打印扫描仪。
Claims (13)
1.一种组合式打印扫描仪,可由用户相对于一个表面移动,并可在一扫描模式和一打印模式下运转,所述打印扫描仪包括:
一个速度传感器,可以测定所述打印扫描仪被用户相对于所述表面移动的速度;
一个扫描装置,当所述打印扫描仪运转在扫描模式下时,它与所述速度传感器同步,随着用户相对于所述表面移动所述打印扫描仪,可以获取代表该表面上图象的图象数据;
一个存储器,用于存储所述图象数据;
一个打印头装置,当所述打印扫描仪运转在打印模式下时,它与所述速度传感器同步,随着用户相对于一打印介质移动所述打印扫描仪,可以将所述图象数据打印到所述打印介质上;
一个机箱,用于容纳所述速度传感器、所述扫描装置,所述存储器和所述打印头装置;
一个封盖装置,可在一封盖位置和一非封盖位置之间移动以选择性地封盖所述打印头;和
一个电源,该电源放在所述机箱中,该电源包括一个盒子,所述盒子中设有电池和墨水源,能够从所述机箱中取下该盒子,以便能够同时地取下并更换所述电池和墨水源。
2.如权利要求1所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:所述打印头装置包括多个喷墨嘴。
3.如权利要求2所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:还包括一个打印控制器,用于:
(a)把存储在所述存储器中的图象数据转换成一组墨滴喷射控制信号;
(b)接收来自所述速度传感器的速度数据,所述速度数据指示用户相对于所述打印介质移动所述打印扫描仪的速度;以及
(c)根据墨滴喷射控制信号,以所述速度数据所确定的速率操纵所述打印头装置中的喷墨嘴,由此将所述图象数据打印到所述打印介质上。
4.如权利要求1所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:所述速度传感器包括一个光学编码轮,该编码轮可以和所述表面相接触,并且可随着打印扫描仪横向通过所述表面而旋转。
5.如权利要求4所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:所述光学编码轮包括:
一系列圆周间隔排列的标记;和
一个光学传感器,探测在所述光学编码轮转动时通过该光学传感器的所述标记。
6.如权利要求2所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:它还包括:
所述封盖装置,能在一封盖位置和一未封盖位置切换,在所述封盖位置,所述封盖装置基本上阻塞喷墨嘴喷墨,在所述未封盖位置,封盖装置基本上不会阻塞喷墨嘴喷墨;和
一个布置在所述打印扫描仪中的封盖致动装置,用户相对于所述打印介质移动所述打印头装置时可以操作该封盖致动装置。
7.如权利要求6所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:该封盖装置包括一个枢转地安装在所述打印机上的安装部位和一个封盖臂,该封盖臂从所述安装部位基本上垂直地延伸到一远端,这个远端邻近所述喷墨嘴,在所述封盖装置装在所述打印扫描仪上并处于所述封盖位置时能够基本上阻塞所述喷墨嘴喷墨。
8.如权利要求6所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:该封盖装置包括一个枢转地安装在所述打印机上的安装部位和一个封盖臂,该封盖臂从所述安装部位基本上垂直地延伸到一远端,这个远端邻近所述喷墨嘴,在所述封盖装置装在所述打印扫描仪上并处于所述封盖位置时能够基本上阻塞所述喷墨嘴喷墨。
9.如权利要求8所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:它还包括一个指垫,该指垫在所述封盖装置的安装部件上形成。
10.如权利要求1所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:所述存储器还可以存储可打印信息,且所述打印头装置可以在用户相对于所述打印介质移动所述打印扫描仪的时候将所述可打印信息打印到所述打印介质上。
11.如权利要求10所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:该可打印信息是通过一个通信接收器从一外部源接收到所述打印扫描仪。
12.如权利要求11所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:所述通信接收器是一个红外接收器,所述打印扫描仪还包括一个红外窗口,红外信号可以通过该窗口到达所述红外接收器。
13.如权利要求1所述的打印扫描仪,其特征在于:所述打印扫描仪还包括一个墨水源,它可以存储墨水并将所述墨水供应给所述打印头装置。
