技术领域
本申请涉及导管领域,并且尤其涉及导管包壳系统和方法。
背景技术
导管常用于进入患者体内并且诊断和治疗疾病。它们典型地用在医疗实践中,以便在不进行外科手术的情况下到达身体内用其他方法不可到达的位置。例如,患有冠状动脉疾病的患者可能为了治疗疾病而接受经皮冠状动脉介入治疗。血管内导管可用于评估冠状动脉疾病以及引导治疗装置的选择。导管典型地具有长的管状包壳,包壳限定内管腔。导管还具有进入患者的远端和由系统使用者控制的近端。
导管包壳限定内管腔,通过内管腔,可在医疗程序期间插入医疗装置。时常,在将医疗装置插入并移动通过内管腔时,在内管腔内形成空气或气体气泡。这些气泡会引起各种问题。这样,为了冲洗这些气泡,系统使用者往往向包壳中注入流体。然而,冲洗是费时的。而且,在一些情况下,即时进行冲洗之后气泡仍会被截留。
在一些医疗程序中,导管被用作血管内超声系统(IVUS)的一部分。标准IVUS系统包括控制模块、成像导管以及定位在导管的内管腔内的换能器。当换能器移动通过内管腔时,换能器产生血管内壁的图像。然而,内管腔内截留的气泡会干扰IVUS系统并造成超声图像质量问题。
将有利的是提供抵抗空气或气体气泡形成的导管。还将有利的是提供允许更容易冲洗气泡的导管。进一步将有利的是提供具有提高的图像质量的成像导管和IVUS系统。

图1是根据实施例的导管10的截面正视图。导管10包括包围内管腔14的包壳12。内管腔14被配置成接收流体。内管腔14还具有一定尺寸,通过它,可在医疗程序期间可滑动地插入医疗装置。这样,包壳内管腔14具有大于医疗装置直径的直径。
包壳12还包括内表面16和外表面18。内表面16限定内管腔14并且与内管腔14内的流体相接触。当医疗装置插入并移动通过包壳12时,会沿着内管腔14的内表面16形成空气气泡。为了将这些空气气泡冲洗出来,操作人员常常向内管腔14中注入流体。然而,冲洗是费时的并且时常,即使在冲洗之后,空气气泡仍沿着内表面16被截留。
当前导管10包括包壳部分24,该包壳部分包括与内管腔14内的流体处于直接接触的亲水性材料。包壳部分24中的亲水性材料帮助减少沿着内管腔14的内表面16被截留的空气气泡的数目。亲水性材料还有助于排出被截留的空气气泡。在一些情况下,包壳部分24具有内表面16,该内表面包括与流体处于直接接触的亲水性材料。在其他情况下,整个包壳部分24(包括内表面16和外表面18)包括亲水性材料。
包括亲水性材料的包壳部分24可定位于导管10上的所需位置。图2-4示出包壳部分24的不同实施例。参考图2,导管10包括近端20和远端22。近端20为大体保留在患者身体外部的导管部分。远端22为可插入到患者身体内的导管部分。
在一些实施例中,包壳部分24定位于导管10的远端22上。在一些情况下,包壳部分24为整个远端22,如图2所示。在其他情况下,如图3所示,包壳部分24为定位于远端22上的成像窗口26。在其他实施例中,如图4所示,包壳部分24为整个导管10。此处,整个导管10包括与内管腔14内的流体处于直接接触的亲水性材料。
亲水性材料可为超声能量大体可穿透的任何亲水性材料。在一些情况下,亲水性材料包括两亲物。包括亲水性材料增加了包壳部分24的表面能。在一些情况下,包壳部分24具有至少约35达因、至少约40达因、至少约45达因、或至少约50达因的表面能。在其他情况下,包壳部分24具有大于或等于内管腔14内的流体表面能的表面能。在某些情况下,内管腔接收盐溶液作为流体并且包壳部分具有大于或等于盐溶液表面能的表面能。
在一些实施例中,包壳部分24包括生物相容性材料和亲水性材料二者。生物相容性材料可为诸如尼龙、聚氨酯以及聚乙烯的材料。在一些情况下,包壳部分24包括聚乙烯和亲水性材料二者。在某些情况下,包壳部分24为美国专利号4,728,694、美国专利号5,240,985或WO2002053632中披露的亲水性聚乙烯材料,每个专利的整体内容通过引用结合在此。
在一些实施例中,导管10为成像导管。在其他情况下,导管10为超声成像导管。而在其他情况下,导管10为IVUS成像导管。图5为成像导管10的包壳部分24的截面侧视图。成像导管10被配置成在内管腔14内接收成像核心30。成像核心30包括换能器外壳32和超声换能器34。超声换能器34还电联接到电力缆线36上。超声换能器34被配置成发射和接收超声能量并产生超声数据。
当成像核心30移动通过内管腔14时,换能器34产生血管内壁的图像。然而,成像核心30移动通过内管腔14也会产生空气气泡。但是,由于包壳部分24包括与流体相接触的亲水性材料,沿着内管腔14的空气气泡形成受到抵抗并且/或者更容易用冲洗流体进行冲洗。
在一些实施例中,导管10为IVUS成像导管,其为IVUS成像系统的一部分。图6是IVUS系统100的说明性实例。系统100包括导管10、平移装置119以及计算装置140。导管102包括近端20和被配置成插入患者144的血管中的远端22。在一个实例中,导管10可以经由股动脉插入患者144中并且被引导到患者144内的感兴趣区域。图6中的虚线表示导管10在患者144内的远端22。
一些实施例提供制造导管的方法,导管具有包括亲水性材料的包壳部分24。在一些情况下,可将亲水性材料作为树脂添加到用于制造导管包壳的聚合物挤出物中。此处,可使用制造导管的任何已知方法,其中亲水性材料被添加到聚合物挤出物中。

Claims (12)

1.一种导管,包括:
包围内管腔的包壳,该内管腔被配置成接收流体;
其中该包壳包括包壳部分,其中该包壳部分包括超声能量可穿透的超声成像窗口,所述超声成像窗口具有内表面和外表面以及亲水性材料,该亲水性材料为超声能量大体可穿透的,其中该亲水性材料包括两亲物,并且作为树脂从所述超声成像窗口的外表面到内表面并沿着所述超声成像窗口的长度包括在超声成像窗口处。
2.如权利要求1所述的导管,其中该导管为成像导管。
3.如权利要求1所述的导管,其中该包壳部分基本上由该聚乙烯材料和该亲水性材料组成。
