Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及制备生物基PET包装的方法,尤其是涉及制备和回收生物基PET包装的方法。
背景技术
本文使用的术语“PET”指聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(polyethyleneterephthalate),它的共聚多酯,和其以任何形式包括PET片料(PETflakes)、粒料(pellets)以及回收的PET的组合。术语“PET产品”指由PET制成的产品,包括但不限于树脂,管胚子(performs),以及PET包装(PETpackaging)。本文使用的术语“PET包装”应该指所有的PET包装,包括但不限于,用于包装食品产品,软饮料,酒精饮料,清洁剂,化妆品,药物产品以及食用油的PET包装,比如PET容器(包括瓶)和PET次级包装,该PET次级包装通常用于组织和保护PET容器的运输,展览和储存也用于宣传内部包含的产品。
本文使用的术语“生物基”表示包括部分或全部源自至少一种生物基材料的一些成分。例如,“生物基PET”将是包括部分或全部源自至少一种生物基材料的至少一种成分的PET。术语“生物基材料”和“可再生材料”均指碳来自非矿物生物源的有机材料。
在某种程度上由于PET的透明度,机械性能以及阻气性能的优异组合,PET是用于制作包装制品的广泛应用的原料。现今,大多数商业方法用石油化学衍生的原材料生产PET(下文称为“石油基PET”)。因此,生产成本和石油的价格紧密相关。石油基PET由于其高的石油衍生的碳含量有助于温室排放物,。此外,石油化学产品需耗费几十万年来自然形成,这使得石油化学-衍生的产品是不可再生的。这意味着它们不能以与其消耗速度可比拟的速度来重新制造、重新生长、或再生。
由于对于工业活动的环境影响的控制变得更严格,以及因为石油资源变得愈加稀少,存在对于生物基PET的增长的需要,生物基PET可以充当石油基PET的替换物。进一步期望的是,生物基PET有着与石油基PET相似的化学性质和/或物理性质和/或化学结构,以便当前为石油基PET设计的技术和设施可容易地应用于生物基PET。例如,在一些应用中,期望生物基PET产品可以通过现有的石油基PET产品生产设施来加工和/或通过被设计用来回收石油基PET产品的系统来容易地回收。
生物基材料也将满足消费者对环境友好的产品的越来越多的需求。更期望的是,生物基材料不与食品或食品级材料相竞争,这有可能会增加对于消费者必需物品的成本。例如,生物基材料可从食品或农业废流中获得。因此,需要生产源自生物基材料的PETs,其不与食品或食品级材料相竞争。
从下面的详述、附图和权利要求中,本发明的其他目的、特征和优点将是明显的。

发明内容
本发明的实施方案包含包括至少一种生物基材料的生物基PET。或者,所述生物基PET可被加工成组合物,该组合物选自PET树脂、PET纤维、PET包装以及它们的组合。在具体实施方案中,所述生物基材料可选自糖、淀粉、玉米、天然纤维、甘蔗、甜菜、柑橘类果类、木本植物、纤维素、木素纤维素(lignocelluosics)、半纤维素、马铃薯、植物油、油质木坯料(oilywoodfeedstock)、其他多糖比如果胶、壳多糖、果聚糖、茁霉多糖(pullulan)以及它们的组合。更具体地,所述生物基材料可选自木碎片(woodchips)、柑橘类皮、林业废物(forestrywaste)、农业废物、农作物外皮以及纤维素、半纤维素、木质素以及它们的组合的含量大于3%的生物基材料。所述生物基材料的选择可基于的因素包括但不限于供给利用率(supplyavailability)、成本、所用技术的类型以及环境影响。
在本文所列举的实施方案中的方法的步骤不需要按照所描述的步骤顺序来进行。本领域技术人员将知道哪些步骤可同时或按顺序地(chronologically)进行以及在相同的场所或不同的场所进行。
本发明的实施方案也包含从至少一种生物基材料中生成生物基PET的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:a)从至少一种生物基材料中形成至少一种PET成分,其中所述至少一种PET成分选自一乙二醇(monoethyleneglycol,“MEG”),对苯二酸(terephthalicacid,TA)以及它们的组合;以及b)将所述生物基PET成分加工为生物基PET。更具体地,所述PET成分可为MEG,并与TA熔融聚合生成PET。或者,所述PET成分可为TA,并与MEG熔融聚合生成PET。又或者,所述PET成分可为MEG和TA的组合,其可经熔融聚合生成PET。更具体地,所述熔融聚合步骤进一步包括在催化剂溶液中混合所述MEG和所述TA,在大气压条件下促进所述MEG和所述TA之间的酯化形成生物基PET,可选地从所述生物基PET分离杂质,以及缩聚所述生物基PET。或者,所述方法进一步包括加工所述生物基PET形成纤维(fiber)或丝(filament)。在另一个可选实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括将生物基PET固态聚合形成PET树脂。更具体地,所述PET树脂可进一步加工为PET管胚子(PETperform)、PET包装以及它们的组合。
更具体地,所述MEG和所述TA可使用包括但不限于快速高温分解、酸水解、酶促水解、微生物降解、真菌降解以及氢解作用的方法由所述生物基材料生成。或者,所述PET包装可部分或全部源自至少一种生物基材料。
或者,所述生物基材料被用于生成PET包装,其中所述PET包装包括可食用产品。更具体地,所述可食用产品进一步包括所述生物基材料。在另一个实施方案中,所述生物基材料可被用于生成组分以及进一步包括该组分的所述可食用产品。在又一个实施方案中,所述组分可选自糖、乙醇、二氧化碳以及它们的组合。

实施例
生产生物基PET的方法:甘蔗
现今,甘蔗精炼的典型不足是在甘蔗被精炼成糖和糖蜜后,剩余的甘蔗外皮(或者有时称为甘蔗渣)通常被丢弃到垃圾中或者用作燃料焚烧或者被用作动物饲料。甘蔗渣富含纤维素、半纤维素和木质素,但几乎没有食品价值。找到可选的方法来利用剩余的甘蔗渣来生产生物基PET将减少浪费。在下面的方法中,也可用糖用甜菜(sugarbeets)代替甘蔗。
参照图1,本发明的一个具体实施方案包含用糖生产生物基PET的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:a)精炼甘蔗102为糖蜜104和糖106;b)发酵所述糖蜜104来生成乙醇108;c)精炼所述乙醇为乙烯110;精炼所述乙烯110为MEG112;以及将所述MEG112和所述TA128熔融聚合形成生物基PET120。在另一个具体实施方案中,所述TA128可以是生物基TA。在另一个实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括将生物基PET固态聚合形成PET树脂122。或者,所述方法进一步包括非固态聚合步骤比如熔融树脂(melt-to-resin)技术来生成所述PET树脂122。
或者,所述PET树脂122可通过各种方法浇铸成PET容器124,所述方法包括但不限于制作预成型坯,吹塑器皿(blowingvessels),热加工成型,挤压模塑,压缩模塑,注塑成型,挤压吹塑成型以及其他方法。技术工人考虑包括但不限于时间、成本、利用率(availability)、场所(location)、器皿的设计以及器皿的功能因素,将能确定哪种方法更适用于每项应用。所述PET容器124可用于但不限于包装食品产品、软饮料、酒精饮料、清洁剂、化妆品、药物产品、食用油以及它们的组合。
在一个具体实施方案中,所述甘蔗102可通过结晶和纯化被精炼为所述糖蜜104和所述糖106来生成纯糖和剩余的糖蜜。精炼甘蔗102为糖106和糖蜜104的一个典型的方法是通过研磨所述甘蔗102,将所述甘蔗102和水混合生成糖汁,加热所述糖汁至约65℃到70℃,将所述糖汁和石灰以及气态二氧化硫混合,进一步加热所述糖汁至约100℃到105℃,沉淀杂质,蒸发所述糖汁形成糖浆,冷却所述糖浆以便所述糖106可结晶,并分离所述糖106以生成所述糖蜜104(剩余的液体糖浆)。其他精炼方法可用磷酸钙代替石灰和/或活性碳处理代替二氧化硫用于脱色。
或者,所述糖蜜104可在本领域技术人员熟知的培养基条件和温度条件下,使用酵母菌或者其他适合的发酵生物体来发酵为乙醇108。可选地,所述方法进一步包括发酵所述蜜糖104来生成二氧化碳114。更具体地,所述二氧化碳114可被俘获并用于存储于所述PET容器124中的碳酸饮料。
在一个实施方案中,所述乙醇108可通过用无机酸、强有机酸、适合的催化剂以及它们的组合脱水精炼为所述乙烯110。在另一个实施方案中,所述乙烯110可通过使用催化剂和氧转化为环氧乙烷。所述环氧乙烷可通过与水反应转化为MEG112或者通过与乙酸和/或二氧化碳反应生成中间体化合物,该中间体化合物可水解为MEG112。
或者,所述方法包括精炼所述乙烯110为至少一种聚乙烯116,其中所述聚乙烯可选自低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)、高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)、线型低密度聚乙烯(LLDPF)、超高分子量聚乙烯(UHMWPE)以及它们的组合。在一个具体实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括在高单体压力(highmonomerpressure)和高温下使用适合的催化剂将所述乙烯110聚合生成所述至少一种聚乙烯116。更具体地,所述至少一种聚乙烯116可加工形成PET包装。
或者,所述方法进一步包括使用所述至少一种聚乙烯116来制造用于PET容器124的封闭器120(closure)。具体地,所述封闭器118可为帽(cap)、盖(lid)和/或附加上的和/或用于将产品封入PET容器124的其他相似的或适合的PET容器124封闭器。或者,所述封闭器118可为螺旋式封闭器、铆头模式封闭器(snaptypeclosure)、和/或其他样式的封闭器,其可用于密封和再封所述PET容器124。在另一个实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括使用所述至少一种聚乙烯116生成包装标签。在另一个具体实施方案中,可通过将所述至少一种聚乙烯116挤压成具有适当厚度和期望性质的膜,之后基于应用进行预处理和拓印来制造所述包装标签。
或者,至少一种PET添加剂126可被添加到所述PET树脂122和/或所述PET封闭器120。所述PET添加剂126可选自着色剂、紫外防护添加剂、热稳定剂、再热添加剂(reheatadditives)、屏障保护增强剂(barrierprotectionenhancers)来减少氧气、二氧化碳、和/或其他气体、液体、光,或者可穿过器皿表面的其他材料以及它们的组合的透过。
根据一个具体实施方案,所述PET容器124可含有产品,该产品包含通过上述方法生成的所述糖106、所述乙醇108、所述二氧化碳114以及它们的组合中的至少一种。所述糖106、所述乙醇108、所述二氧化碳114以及它们的组合可通过任何已知的工业方法比如混合、配料(dosing)、或使用CarboCoolerTM被添加至所述产品。技术工人当考虑包括但不限于产品的类型、设备的利用率、成本以及制造和传输时间因素,将能确定出可使用的最好方法。
在另一个实施方案中,所述PET容器124可含有饮料。在另一个具体实施方案中,所述饮料包括通过上述方法生产的所述糖106、所述乙醇108、所述二氧化碳114以及它们的组合中的至少一种。在又一个具体实施方案中,所述PET容器124可用由所述至少一种聚乙烯116制成的PET封闭器120密封。
生产生物基PET的方法:玉米淀粉
本发明的另一个实施方案包含从玉米淀粉中生产生物基PET的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:a)溶解所述玉米淀粉形成淀粉溶液或凝胶;b)在氢气流催化中,加热所述淀粉溶液或凝胶生成二元醇的混合物;其中二元醇的混合物包括乙二醇;c)纯化所述二元醇的混合物形成MEG;以及d)将所述MEG和所述TA熔融聚合形成生物基PET。更具体地,所述方法进一步包括将生物基PET固态聚合形成PET树脂,以及所述PET树脂可浇铸成PET容器。又具体地,所述纯化可通过蒸馏、结晶、膜分离以及它们的组合。
生产生物基PET的方法:果类,尤其是柑橘类
本文使用的术语“柑橘类”(citrus)指生长柑橘类水果的植物的任何部分,所述柑橘类果类包括但不限于橙子、柠檬、酸橙(limes)、柚子、橘子、任何可食用的柑橘属成员以及它们的组合。现今,与柑橘类产业相关的典型不足是在将果汁和果肉从柑橘类中提取后,皮通常被丢弃。找到可选的方式以利用剩下的柑橘类皮来生产生物基PET将减少浪费。同样的思想可应用于非柑橘类果类。
参照图2,本发明的一个实施方案包含用果类生产生物基PET的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:a)从果类202中提取皮208;以及b)从所述皮中提取至少一种皮成分,其中所述至少一种皮成分选自柠檬烯、糖、淀粉、纤维素以及它们的组合;c)精炼所述至少一种皮成分208a为MEG210、TA212以及它们的组合中的至少一种;以及c)将所述MEG208和所述TA212熔融聚合形成生物基PET。具体地,所述方法进一步包括将所述生物基PET固态聚合形成PET树脂。更具体地,所述PET树脂可浇铸成PET容器214。或者,所述果类选自橙子、柠檬、酸橙、柚子、橘子以及它们的组合。
更具体地,所述MEG310和所述TA312可用包括但不限于快速高温分解、酸水解、酶促水解、微生物降解、真菌降解以及氢解作用的方法来生成。
在一个可选实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括从所述果类202中提取果汁204;加工所述果汁204形成饮料;可选地添加至少一种饮料添加剂216至所述饮料中;对所述饮料进行杀菌;以及将所述饮料分配至所述PET容器214。更具体地,可通过浓缩所述果汁204,将所述果汁204脱苦(debittering),过滤所述果汁204,以及将所述果汁204和至少一种其他果汁、调味剂、着色剂混合来加工所述果汁204。又具体地,所述果汁204可通过巴氏杀菌进行杀菌。或者,所述至少一种果汁添加剂216可选自营养剂(neutraceuticals)、抗氧化剂、维生素类、矿物质以及它们的组合。
在另一个实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括从所述果类202中提取果肉206和将所述果肉206加入所述果汁204中。具体地,所述果肉206可被选择性地控制和加回到所述果汁204。所述饮料可包括不同量的果肉,从几乎没有或没有果肉到有额外的(extra)果肉。

本发明的一个具体实施方案包含包括至少一种果类的果汁的饮料;其中,所述果汁204被分配至生物基PET容器;其中,所述生物基PET214容器包括源自所述果类202的皮208的MEG210,TA212以及它们的组合中的至少一种。或者,所述果汁204可进一步加工形成饮料。所述饮料可选地包括至少一种饮料添加剂216,其选自营养剂(neutraceuticals)、抗氧化剂、维生素类、矿物质以及它们的组合。
基于果类的类型,一些成分,包括但不限于纤维,可通过热裂化过程进一步加工生成糖和化学产品,比如对二甲苯,其可进一步加工为生物基TA。当选择了一个具体的果类时,技术人员基于可用的技术,将能容易地确定出所述果类的哪种成分可被加工为可被用于形成生物基PET和/或可食用产品的不同的成分。
生产生物基PET的方法:农业废流(AgriculturalWasteSteams)
一个具体的实施方案包含从农业废流中生产生物基PET的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:a)收集农业废流;b)精炼所述农业废流为MEG;以及c)将所述MEG和TA熔融聚合形成PET。在另一个具体的实施方案中,所述TA可为生物基TA。在一个实施方案中,所述方法进一步包括将所述PET固态聚合形成PET树脂。更具体地,所述农业废流可选自糖外皮(sugarhusk)、甘蔗渣、玉米秸、木碎片、其他农业废流和产品以及它们的组合。
回收生物基PET包装
一旦将生物基PET包装装满产品,所述生物基PET包装可通过市场出口或其他手段分发至消费者。所述产品被移出或消耗后,已用的生物基PET包装可在回收供给链(recyclesupplychain)中被收集。所述回收供给链可包括,但不限于一个或多个有组织的路旁拾取器组,在建筑物、在任何情况以及其他场所公共可获得的特殊容器,使用指定回收站点和城市回收规划。进入所述回收供给链后,所述已用的生物基PET包装可加工为PET碎片。本文使用的术语“PET碎片”(PETchip)指碎片(或者有时指粒料(pellets))和片料(flakes)形式的PET树脂,该PET树脂主要由已用的PET包装制成,已用的PET包装包括已用的生物基PET包装和已用的石油基PET包装。PET碎片通常只需最小的清洗和重新熔融以便用于新的PET包装中。
已用的生物基PET也可通过化学解聚作用,比如水解、甲醇分解、糖酵解、醇解、氨解以及它们的组合,加工成回收的MEG(recycledMEG)或者回收的TA(recycledTA)。所述PET碎片,所述回收的MEG,和/或所述回收的TA可进一步加工形成新的生物基PET产品。受制于现今可适用的工业回收工序(industrialrecyclingoperations),现有的回收供给链不太可能收回足够量的已用生物基PET包装,来生成所需要的所有的所述新PET产品。因此,需要不断地生产大量新的生物基MEG和新的生物基TA以满足需求。
参照图3,本发明的一个具体实施方案包含回收已用的生物基PET包装302a的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:a)通过PET加工中心来加工已用的生物基PET302a,以生成至少一种回收的材料303,该回收的材料选自PET碎片306、回收的MEG308、回收的TA310以及它们的组合。或者,所述方法进一步包括将所述至少一种回收的材料303分成PET碎片306组、回收的MEG308组以及回收的TA310组。在一个实施方案中,所述回收的材料是PET碎片306,并且所述方法进一步包括安排所述PET碎片至浇铸加工。或者,所述回收的材料是回收的MEG308或者回收的TA310,并且所述方法可选地包括将所述回收的MEG308和新的生物基MEG312组合形成一个组合MEG,以及将所述回收的TA310和新的生物基TA313组合形成一个组合TA。更具体地,所述方法包括将所述组合MEG和所述组合TA聚合形成新的PET。又具体地,所述方法包括以特定的比例将所述回收的MEG和所述新的MEG组合。再具体地,所述方法包含以特定的比例将所述回收的TA和所述新的TA组合。或者,所述新的PET可与所述PET碎片306组合生成PET容器302b。
因此,可持续的(sustainable)生物基包装可通过使用由新鲜的生物基材料制成的新的MEG和新的TA来制得以及使用由回收的生物基材料制成的回收的MEG和回收的TA来制得。
本发明的能力可通过软件、固件、硬件或者它们的组合来实现。
作为一个实例,本发明的一个或多个方面可包括在具有如计算机可用介质的制造件中(例如,一种或多种计算机程序产品)。所述介质已经编入(embodied),例如计算机可读程序代码部件,以提供和促进本发明的能力。所述制造件可被包含为计算机系统的一部分或者独立地出售。
此外,可提供至少一种机器可读的程序存储设备,其明确编入(embodying)至少一种机器可执行的程序指令,以实现本发明的能力。

Claims (10)
1.一种制备生物基聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(PET)的方法,包括:
(a)从至少一种生物基材料中形成至少一种PET成分,其中所述至少一种PET成分选自一乙二醇(MEG),对苯二酸(TA)以及它们的组合;
(b)将所述生物基PET成分加工为生物基PET。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述方法进一步包括将所述生物基PET固态聚合形成PET树脂,以及加工所述PET树脂为PET管胚子、PET包装以及它们的组合。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述生物基PET包装包括可食用产品,以及所述可食用产品包括由所述生物基材料制成的组分。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述至少一种PET成分通过使用快速高温分解、酸水解、酶促水解、微生物降解、真菌降解或氢解作用的方法由所述生物基材料生成。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述方法进一步包括加工所述生物基PET形成纤维或丝。
6.一种制备生物基聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(PET)的方法,包括:
(a)精炼甘蔗为糖蜜和糖;
(b)发酵所述糖蜜来生成乙醇;
(c)精炼所述乙醇为乙烯;以及
(d)精炼所述乙烯为MEG,至少一种聚乙烯以及它们的组合。
7.根据权利要求6所述的方法,进一步包括将所述MEG和TA熔融聚合形成生物基PET以及加工所述生物基PET为PET容器。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法,进一步包括发酵所述蜜糖来生成二氧化碳,以及使用所述二氧化碳和所述糖作为饮料成分用于存储在所述PET容器中的饮料。
9.根据权利要求7所述的方法,进一步包括加工所述至少一种聚乙烯形成用于所述PET容器的封闭器。
10.根据权利要求7所述的方法,进一步包括加工所述至少一种聚乙烯形成用于所述PET容器的PET次级包装。
