技术领域
本发明涉及一种列驱动器及具有该列驱动器的平板显示器。 
背景技术
通常,平板显示器(“FPD”)将主机提供的数字图像数据分别变换为模拟数据电压,以在面板组件显示所需的灰度或彩色图像。 
图1是传统的平板显示器的方块图; 
参照图1,平板显示器1000包括面板组件1100、列驱动器1200、栅极驱动器1300、以及信号控制器1400。 
例如,XGA分辨率为(1024×768)时,面板组件1100包括1024×3(RGB)=3,072条数据线(未示出)和768条栅极线(未示出)、多个开关元件(未示出)、以及多个显示元件(未示出)。这种结构通常被称之为有源矩阵结构。 
列驱动器1200将信号控制器1400输入的数字图像数据变换为模拟数据电压,并通过多条数据线传送到面板组件1100上的各显示元件,其在图1中具有形成在面板组件1100一侧的单层结构。 
栅极驱动器1300同时接通形成在一行上的显示元件,以使通过列驱动器1200驱动的模拟数据电压分别施于与其连接数据线。 
信号控制器1400接收来自主机(未示出)的数字图像数据及控制信号。具体而言,信号控制器1400以一般数字接口,例如,低压差分信号(“LVDS”)方式接收数字图像数据及控制信号。 
此外,信号控制器1400包括LVDS接收器1410、定时信号发生器1420及减少摆动差分信号(“RSDS”)发送器1430。LVDS接收器1410接收来自外部的LVDS方式数字图像数据及控制信号。定时信号发生器1420变换控制信号产生对应列驱动器1200及栅极驱动器1300的多个控制信号。RSDS发送器1430将LVDS方式的数字图像数据及控制信号变换为RSDS方式,并传送到列驱动器1200上。 
图2是传统的操作时间图,而图3示出了RSDS方式数字图像数据的形式。 
参照图2及图3,信号控制器1400例如为6比特时,通过RGB3对信号线(未示出)及1对时钟线(未示出)传送数字图像数据及控制信号。具体而言,通过3对×RGB=9对的信号线和1对时钟线传送到列驱动器1200。 
图4是RSDS方式列驱动器具体框图。 
参照图4,列驱动器1200包括RSDS接收器1210、移位寄存器1220、数据寄存器1230、数据锁存1240、D/A变换器1250、以及输入缓冲器1260。 
RSDS接收器1210接收来自信号控制器1400的RSDS方式的数字图像数据。移位寄存器1220从数据寄存器1230向数据锁存的各锁存一次性加载数字图像数据。信号控制器1400直到载满数据锁存1240的所有锁存为止向列驱动器1200加载数字图像数据。信号控制器1400直到所有行载满数字图像数据为止向所有的列驱动器1200加载数字图像数据。然后,列驱动器1200将存储在数据锁存1240中的数字图像数据加载到D/A变换器1250。D/A变换器1250将所有的数字图像数据变换为模拟数据电压。然后,输出缓冲器1260将模拟数据电压施加到面板组件1100的各数据线。

发明内容
本发明目的在于提供了一种能够减少电力消耗和EMI的平板显示器。 
本发明实施例提供了一种列驱动器,包括:数字信号生成器,根据外部输入的控制信号产生水平起始信号STH及负载信号LOAD;移位寄存器,接收水平起始信号STH;数据寄存器;数据锁存器,用于接收负载信号;D/A变换器,接收极性控制信号;以及输出缓冲器。 
而且,根据本发明,数字信号生成器根据与所述控制信号及数据允许信号DE之间的逻辑组合而操作,当所述数据允许信号DE为高逻辑、所述控制信号为低逻辑时,产生所述水平起始信号STH。 
而且,根据本发明,数字信号生成器根据与所述控制信号及数据允许信号DE之间的逻辑组合而操作,当所述数据允许信号DE为低逻辑、所述控制信号为低逻辑时,产生所述负载信号LOAD。

在附图中,为了清楚起见,扩大了各层的厚度及区域。在全篇说明书中对相同元件附上相同的标号,应当理解的是当提到层、膜、区域、或基片等元件在别的元件“之上”时,指其直接位于别的元件之上,或者也可能有别的元件介于其间。相反,当某个元件被提到“直接”位于别的元件之上时,意味着并无别的元件介于其间。

图5示出了根据本发明第一实施例的平板显示器5000。 
参照图5,根据本发明的平板显示器5000包括有面板组件5100、列驱动器5200、栅极驱动器5300、以及信号控制器5400。 
根据本发明的平板显示器5000可以由有源矩阵形式的薄膜晶体管液晶显示装置(TFT-LCD)组成。然而,根据本发明的平板显示器并不局限在有源矩阵TFT-LCD。 
信号控制器5400包括LVDS接收器5410、定时信号发生器5420,以及电流驱动器5430。 
LVDS接收器5410将来自主机(未示出)的LVDS方式数字图像数据R、G、B及各种控制信号Hsync、Vsync、CTR传送到定时信号发生器5420。定时信号发生器5420产生列驱动器5200及栅极驱动器5300所需的控制信号。电流驱动器5430将LVDS方式的数 字图像数据R、G、B以电流驱动方式与控制信号合成,传送到列驱动器5200。 
列驱动器5200由多个列驱动器元件5210~5260组成,列驱动器元件5210~5260在面板组件5100上直接以层叠结构连接。优旋地,以信号控制器5400的输入为中心相互对称排列列驱动器元件5210~5260。然而,根据本发明的平板显示器并不局限在对称结构中,可以由多种形态组成。而且,根据本发明的平板显示器5000可以适用电压驱动方式的数字接口或电流驱动方式的数字接口。 
栅极驱动器5300由直接安装在面板组件5100的多个栅极驱动器元件组成。它们以在与信号控制器5400相邻的栅极驱动器元件接收来自信号控制器5400的多种控制信号并传送到下一个栅极驱动器元件的方式动作。而且,栅极驱动器5300向栅极线传送开关元件的控制信号。上述结构由一般的COG形式组成,但根据本发明的栅极驱动器5300不是将集成电路芯片直接安装在面板组件上,而是可以与形成开关元件及显示元件的工序一起形成栅极驱动器元件。 
图6示出了如图5所示的信号控制器5400和列驱动器5210~5260之间的连接关系。 
参照图5及图6,一组列驱动器元件5210~5230从信号控制器5400依次连接,另一组列驱动器元件5240~5260从信号控制器5400依次连接。 
列驱动器元件5240接收来自信号控制器5400的时钟信号CLKR、第一控制信号DIOR,以及数据DataR。而且,列驱动器元件5210接收来自信号控制器5400的时钟信号CLKL、第一控制信号,以及数据。 
列驱动器元件5210、5240接收所有与其相关的数据后,接收并传送来自信号控制器5400的对应于下一个列驱动器元件5220、5250的控制信号及数据,列驱动器元件5220、5250也进行相同的操作。 
各列驱动器元件5210~5260根据第一控制信号的逻辑状态和数据信号的组合,分别识别数据起始信号STH及负载信号。 
信号控制器5400将预定区间的极性控制信号POL输出到另一个数据缓冲器上。即,极性控制信号在无数字图像信号的区间传送到各列驱动器元件5210~5260上。 
因此,根据本实施例的平板显示器5000中不需要传送极性控制信号POL的信号线和传送负载信号的信号线,从而减少布线数量的同时减少了电力消耗及EMI。 
图7是如图5所示的列驱动器的具体框图。 
参照图5至图7,各列驱动器元件5210~5260具有双方向性。即,列驱动器元件5210将来自信号控制器5400的控制信号及数据依次传送到列驱动器5220、列驱动器元件5230。而且,列驱动器元件5240~5260也以相同的方式传送控制信号及数据。 
参照图7,详细说明了多个列驱动器元件中的一个列驱动器元件内部的程序。剩余的列驱动器元件与列驱动器元件实际具有相同结构。 
列驱动器元件5210具有第一收发器5211、第一输入缓冲器5212、第二收发器213、第二输入缓冲器5214、逻辑电路5215、数据锁存器及选择器5216、D/A变换器5217,以及输出缓冲器5218。 
第一输入缓冲器5212、第二输入缓冲器5214及逻辑电路5215传送信号的方向基于信号控制器5400输出的控制信号SHL、SHLB的逻辑状态而决定。

下面,参照图5至图8说明各列驱动器元件5210~5260的操作。 
在A区间,信号控制器5400产生时钟信号CLK、第一控制信号DIO和第二控制信号以及极性控制信号POL。 
在A区间内,信号控制器5400通过多条数据线D00~Dxx中的第一数据线D00向第一列驱动器元件5210传送时钟信号CLK、具有低逻辑的第一控制信号DIO以及具有低逻辑的第二控制信号。而且,信号控制部5400通过多条数据线D00~Dxx中的第二数据线D01向列驱动器传送极性控制信号POL。 
响应控制信号SHL启动(enable)的第一输入缓冲器5212向逻辑电路5215传送通过第一收发器211接收的多种信号CLK、DIO、DATAL。这时,响应控制信号SHLB禁止(disable)第二输入缓冲器5214。优选地,控制信号SHL和SHLB为相互补充信号。 
在A区间,逻辑电路5215将具有低逻辑的第一控制信号DIO与具有低逻辑的第二控制信号的组合识别为数据起始信号负载。而且,极性控制信号5215接收和锁存极性控制信号POL。极性控制信号POL使用于决定锁存的显示数据输出极性的信号。 
在数字图像数据的传送区间TD内,信号控制器5400通过数据线D00~Dxx向列驱动器元件5210传送时钟信号CLK、具有高逻辑的第一控制信号DIO、数字图像数据DATAL。 
逻辑电路5215将接收的数字图像数据DATAL输出到数据锁存及选择器5216,数据锁存及选择电路5216同步于时钟信号CLK的上升边缘和下降边缘,以接收和锁存分配到列驱动器元件5210上的数字图像数据DATAL。D/A变换器5217对应于伽马电压,将数字图像数据DATAL转换成模拟信号。 
分到列驱动器元件5210上的数字图像数据DATAL未全部锁存在数据锁存及选择器5216之前,列驱动器元件5210在数字图像数据传送区间TD内产生具有低逻辑的第一控制信号DIO传送到相邻的列驱动器元件5220,产生具有低逻辑的第二控制信号,通过多条数据线D00~Dxx中的第一数据线D00传送到列驱动器元件5220上,并通过多条数据线D00~Dxx中的第二数据线D01将锁存的极性控制信号POL传送到列驱动器元件5220。 
因此,列驱动器元件5220接收具有低逻辑的第一控制信号DIO和具有低逻辑的第二控制信号,并准备接收分到列驱动器元件5220上的数字图像数据DATAL1。而且,列驱动器元件5220同步于时钟信号CLK的上升边缘和下降边缘,锁存分到列驱动器元件5220的数字图像数据DATAL。 
即,时钟信号CLK传送到列驱动器元件5220,列驱动器元件5210产生第一控制信号DIO并传送到列驱动器元件5220,产生第二控制信号通过多条数据线D00~Dxx中的第一数据线D00传送到列驱动器元件5220,产生极性控制信号POL通过多条数据线D00~Dxx中的第二数据线D01传送到列驱动器元件5220。从而,列驱动器元件5220在数字图像数据传送区间TD内接收并存储有关列驱动器元件5220的数字图像数据。 
通过上述操作,在数字图像数据的传送区间TD内将分配到各列驱动器元件5210~5260的数字图像数据存储到列驱动器元件5210~5260。 
根据本实施例的列驱动器元件5210~5260同步于时钟信号CLK的上升边缘和下降边缘全部,以存储数字图像数据。 
分配到各列驱动器元件5210~5260的数字图像数据全部存储到各列驱动器元件5210~5260时,信号控制器5400通过某一个数据线分别向列驱动器元件5210~5260输出B区间内具有低逻辑的第一控制信号DIO和具有高逻辑的第二控制信号。 
图7所示的各列驱动器元件5210~5260的逻辑电路5215是基于具有低逻辑的第一控制信号DIO和具有高逻辑的第二控制信号产生负载信号LOAD。 
因此,各列驱动器元件5210~5260响应极性控制信号POL和负载信号LOAD,基于数字图像数据以驱动面板组件5100的数据线。从而,数字图像数据显示在面板组件5100。极性控制信号POL锁存于逻辑电路中,直到输入新的极性控制信号为止。 
像这样,各列驱动器元件5210~5260响应极性控制信号POL和负载信号LOAD驱动面板组件5100的数据线。从而,数据图像数据显示在面板组件5100上。根据本实施例的信号控制器5400和各列驱动器元件5210~5260共享包括第一控制信号、第二控制信号以及极性控制信号POL在内的信号传送规则及传送信号的缓冲信息(或对应的数据线)。 
图9是根据本发明第二实施例的平板显示器的操作时间图。 
参照图9,信号控制器5400为了减少驱动一个水平线的时间以高频输出多种控制信号。具体而言,信号控制器5400的B区间至少具有STH宽度(2时钟)、STH与第一个数据的间隔(0.5时钟)、最后一个数据与负载信号间的间隔(16时钟)、负载信号宽度(28时钟)以及负载信号与STH的间隔(4时钟)。如上所述,水平线的驱动时间需要2+0.5+16+28+4时钟(clock)=共50.5时钟(Clock)。 
因此,信号控制器5400利用内部PLL电路,用比现有频率高的频率驱动,可以确保显示水平线的充分驱动。 
图10是根据本发明第三实施例的平板显示器的操作时间图。 
参照图10,信号控制器5400产生其它控制信号CS。具体而言,当控制信号CS为低逻辑LOW时识别STH,并根据内部明细输入数据。输入最后一个数据后,当控制信号CS为高逻辑HIGH时,在那个瞬间将加载宽度输出到数据线。列驱动器元件5210~5260在内部识别控制信号CS及加载宽度,并根据该值操作。由此,平板显示器5000可以确保显示线数据的充分驱动。 
图11是列驱动器元件5210~5260中的一个列驱动器元件5240的框图。因为剩余的列驱动器具有与列驱动器5240相同的结构,因此省略其详细说明。 
参照11,列驱动器5240包括数据控制器5241、数字信号发生器5242、移位寄存器5243、数据寄存器5244、数据锁存器5245、D/A变换器5246、以及输出缓冲器5247。列驱动器5240与普通列驱动器具有相似的结构,其进一步包括数字信号发生器5242。 
数字信号发生器5220根据信号控制器5400产生的控制信号CS向移位寄存器5243传送水平起始信号STH,向数据锁存器5245传送负载信号LOAD,向D/A变换器5246传送极性控制信号POL。 由此,信号控制器5400不产生水平起始信号STH、极性控制信号POL以及负载信号LOAD,而驱动列驱动器元件5240。其结果,不需要传送信号的多个布线的同时减少了信号传送数量,所以不仅减小了电力消耗,还减少了EMI。 
如上所述,根据本发明的平板显示器可以减少信号控制器与源极驱动器之间接触的缓冲数量。从而,减少相当于减少的缓冲数量的显示装置的电力消耗,而且,根据本发明的平板显示器减小所产生的EMI。 
根据缓冲数量的减少可以有效利用布线的厚度及/或布线之间的间隔。而且,使用电流驱动方式的平板显示器具有改善因面板布线电阻减小而引起的显示装置性能的效果。 
而且,根据较高的频率及独立的控制信号驱动平板显示器,以充分确保驱动。 
以上所述仅为本发明的优选实施例而已,并不用于限制本发明,对于本领域的技术人员来说,本发明可以有各种更改和变化。凡在本发明的精神和原则之内,所作的任何修改、等同替换、改进等,均应包含在本发明的保护范围之内。

Claims (3)

1.一种列驱动器,包括:
数字信号生成器,根据外部输入的控制信号产生水平起始信号STH及负载信号LOAD;
移位寄存器,接收所述水平起始信号STH;
数据寄存器;
数据锁存器,用于接收所述负载信号;
D/A变换器,接收极性控制信号;以及
输出缓冲器,
其中,所述数字信号生成器根据所述控制信号及数据允许信号DE之间的逻辑组合而操作。
2.根据权利要求1所述的列驱动器,其特征在于,当所述数据允许信号DE为高逻辑、所述控制信号为低逻辑时,产生所述水平起始信号STH。
3.根据权利要求1所述的列驱动器,其特征在于,当所述数据允许信号DE为低逻辑、所述控制信号为低逻辑时,产生所述负载信号LOAD。
