Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及环氧树脂涂料组合物,本发明尤其涉及包含三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高聚合度的低聚胺的固化剂的这样一种环氧树脂涂料组合物。
背景技术
环氧树脂基涂料是重要的工业产品。这类产品大多数用于大块金属结构或混凝土结构(如桥梁、船只、工业贮槽等)的保护和装饰,其中涂料的涂敷是在大气环境条件下实施的。环氧树脂涂料能提供耐腐蚀性、耐水性、耐磨性和耐溶剂性的综合性能。
目的用于大气环境下的大多数环氧树脂涂料通常采用多官能胺作为固化剂,胺固化剂既可单独使用,在一些情况下也可与其它固化剂混合使用。已大量使用的几类胺固化剂包括低分子量二胺如间二甲苯二胺、异佛尔酮二胺、聚醚二胺以及聚酰胺(通常是二聚脂肪酸(如PRIPOL 1017和PRIPOL 1048(商标,购自Uniqema))与多胺的反应产物)。在W.R.Ashcroft,Curing Agents for Epoxy Resins,(B.Ellis(ed.)Chemistry and Technology of Epoxy Resins,BlackieAcademic and Professional,London,1993,pp.37-71)中已对此作了介绍。
然而,对现有的环氧树脂固化剂来说,还存在若干问题。例如,低分子量二胺通常是挥发性的,有时是有毒性的,还可能导致环氧树脂柔软性不足。
另一方面,聚酰胺的反应性较低,尤其在温度接近零度时,同时会呈较高的粘度,这就是说,必须与有机溶剂一起使用。从环境与安全两方面考虑,通常需减少涂料(包括环氧涂料)中溶剂的用量。因此,需要开发用于环氧树脂的低粘度固化剂。
限制溶剂的使用会要求以低分子量环氧树脂取代优选的较高分子量环氧树脂,不管所用固化剂的粘度。采用低分子量环氧树脂会延长涂层的干燥时间。因此需要能缩短环氧树脂涂层干燥时间的固化剂,特别是液态环氧树脂基涂料。
为了很好地保护基体(如混凝土和金属),必需使涂层对基体有良好的粘附性,特别是潮湿条件下。虽然环氧树脂涂层通常具有良好的粘附性,但仍需进一步提高对基体如冷轧钢(CRS)的粘附性。
最后,需要能使环氧涂料组合物具有较高耐腐蚀性的固化剂,从而使涂层具有较长的使用寿命。
发明内容
我们已经出人意料地发现一种能减少或基本上克服了上述至少一个问题的环氧树脂涂料组合物。
因此,本发明提供了一种包含环氧树脂和含至少一种三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚胺的固化剂的涂料组合物。
本发明还提供了用三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚胺固化的环氧树脂。
本发明还提供了三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚胺在固化环氧树脂方面的用途。
本发明还提供了涂有(i)底层和(ii)与底层组分不同的另一层环氧树脂涂层的混凝土基体,其中底层是由包含环氧树脂和含至少一种三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚胺的固化剂的涂料组合物形成的,另一环氧树脂涂层还任选地包含填料。
本发明还提供涂有(i)底层和(ii)另一层醇酸树脂或聚氨酯树脂涂层的钢制基体,其中底层是由包含环氧树脂和含至少一种三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚胺的固化剂的涂料组合物形成的。
本发明还提供了一种制造涂料组合物的方法,该方法包括:(i)在压力下使脂肪酸聚合以制得包含单脂肪酸和/或二聚脂肪酸和/或三聚脂肪酸的反应混合物,(ii)使步骤(i)中制得的反应混合物中至少一种酸转变为胺,以及(iii),使步骤(ii)中制得的至少一种胺与环氧树脂相混合,条件是至少一种胺是三聚脂肪三胺或更高级的低聚胺。
环氧树脂是每分子含有一个以上1,2-环氧基团的聚环氧化合物,这类环氧化合物在环氧涂料技术界是众所周知的,在Y.Tanaka,“Synthesis and Characteristics of Epoxides”,(C.A.May,ed.,EpoxyResins Chemistry and Technology(Marcel Dekker,1988))中已对此作了介绍。实例包括美国专利5599855中第5栏第6行-第6栏第20行中公开的那些环氧化合物。优选的聚环氧化合物是双酚A二环氧甘油醚,改进型双酚A二环氧甘油醚、双酚F二环氧甘油醚以及环氧线型酚醛树脂。
我们可以购买获得一定粘度范围的环氧树脂。最常用的环氧树脂是双酚A二环氧甘油醚(DGEBA)基环氧树脂和由改进型(DGEBA)与其它双酚A制得的较高分子量低聚物基环氧树脂。环氧树脂通常是双官能或稍低于双官能,并可以它们的环氧当量(EEW)来表征。因此,由双酚A衍生的、EEW为180克的环氧树脂的粘度为约8500毫帕·秒。在EEW稍提高至190克时,粘度会增高至约12000毫帕·秒。在EEW为约300克时,环氧树脂会相当快速地部分结晶成为半固态,当EEW为约400克以上时,就会成为固态,因此在室温下不能测定它们的粘度。
在涂料配方中,采用较高分子量环氧树脂如那些EEW为450-500克(在工业界称为“1型”树脂)的环氧树脂常常是有利的。高分子量树脂会明显地缩短涂料的干燥时间。此外,较高分子量环氧树脂与较低分子量环氧树脂相比,得到的涂层的柔软性好,抗冲击性也较高。但不幸的是,较高分子量环氧树脂的粘度较高,因而需要使用较多的溶剂以达到适宜的施工粘度。
为了降低指定组合物的粘度,可用部分单官能环氧化合物对环氧树脂进行改性。粘度的降低就有可能在增加配方中颜料的使用量的同时仍易于进行涂敷操作,或可采用较高分子量环氧树脂。适用的单环氧化物的实例包括氧化苯乙烯、氧化环己烯、环氧乙烷、环氧丙烷、环氧丁烷以及苯酚、甲酚、四丁基酚与其它烷基酚、丁醇、2-乙基己醇与C8-C14醇的缩水甘油醚。
用于本发明的环氧树脂的EEW优选为160-4000克,更优选为170-900克,特别优选为180-700克,而尤其优选为184-500克。
对于涂敷于钢材上的涂料来说,环氧树脂的EEW优选为450-550克,更优选为470-530克,特别优选为490-510克,而尤其优选为约500克。对于涂敷于混凝土上的涂料来说,环氧树脂的EEW优选为180-250克,更优选为184-200克,特别优选为188-195克,而尤其优选为约190克。
用于本发明的三聚脂肪三胺固化剂优选由相应的三聚脂肪酸制成。
术语三聚脂肪酸和二聚脂肪酸在技术上是众所周知的,是指单或多不饱和脂肪酸和/或它们的酯的三聚合/二聚合产物。在T.E.Breuer,′Dimer Acids′(J.I.Kroschwitz(ed.)),Kirk-othmer Encyclopedia ofChemical Technology,4th Ed.,Wiley,New York,1993,Vol.8,pp.223-237中已对它们作了介绍。它们是通过脂肪酸在加压下进行聚合,然后经蒸馏除去大部分未反应的脂肪酸原料而制得的。最终产物中通常含有一些单脂肪酸,绝大部分是二聚脂肪酸和三聚脂肪酸,以及一些更高级的脂肪酸或低聚脂肪酸。可用不同用量的、不同的脂肪酸制备这种产物。二聚脂肪酸与三聚脂肪酸的比率可通过改变工艺条件和/或不饱和酸物料而加以改变。采用技术上已知的纯化技术可将三聚脂肪酸从产物混合物中以基本上纯净形态分离出来,或者是可将三聚脂脂肪酸与二聚脂脂肪酸的混合物用于制造相应的胺。三聚脂肪三胺和任选二聚脂肪二胺可通过技术上已知的标准化学方法,如在EP530696-A中所述,由相应的三聚脂肪酸和任选二聚脂肪酸在与氨反应后再进行氢化的方法来制备。
本发明固化剂中三聚脂肪三胺(或三聚体)的用量大于5%,更优选为10-90重量%,特别优选为30-70重量%,而尤其优选为40-50重量%。此外,特别优选的固化剂中二聚脂肪二胺(或二聚体)的含量低于95重量%,更优选为10-90重量%,特别优选为30-70重量%,而尤其优选为50-60重量%。并且该固化剂优选包含低于10重量%,更优选为1-6重量%,特别优选为2-4重量%而尤其优选为2.5-3.5重量%的单脂肪单胺(或单体)。上述所有重量%数值都以固化剂中存在的三聚体、二聚体和单体胺的总重量计。
优选的三聚脂肪三胺是C10-C30三聚体,更优选为C12-C24,特别优选为C14-C22,而尤其优选为C18烷基链的三聚体。因此,优选的三聚脂肪三胺含有30-90个碳原子,更优选含36-72,特别优选含42-66而尤其优选含54个碳原子。三聚脂肪三胺的分子量(重均分子量)优选为750-950,更优选为790-910,特别优选为810-890,而尤其优选为830-870。
适用的三聚脂肪三胺优选是油酸、亚油酸、亚麻酸、棕榈油酸和反油酸(即碳原子数与胺相当),特别是油酸的三聚产物衍生的。三聚脂肪三胺也可由源自天然的脂和油如葵花籽油、大豆油、橄榄油、油菜籽油、棉籽油和松浆油经水解得到的不饱和脂肪酸混合物的三聚产物衍生的。经氢化(如用镍催化剂)的三聚脂肪酸也可用来制备相应的三聚脂肪三胺。
同样,任选的二聚脂肪二胺优选是由上段中提及的物料的二聚产物衍生的,且优选为C10-C30二聚体,更优选为C12-C24,特别优选为C14-C22而尤其优选为C18烷基链的二聚体。因此,优选的二聚脂肪二胺含有20-60个碳原子,更优选含24-48,特别优选含28-44,而尤其优选含36个碳原子。二聚脂肪二胺的分子量(重均分子量)优选为450-690,更优选为500-640,特别优选为530-610,而尤其优选为550-590。
在本发明的一个实施方案中,四聚脂肪四胺和更高级的低聚物(两者在下文都称为低聚胺)是在由三聚脂肪酸和/或二聚脂肪酸和/或单脂肪酸制备胺的过程中形成的。这类低聚胺也可用作根据本发明的环氧树脂固化剂,它既可单独(从胺反应产物混合物中分离出来)使用,也可与三聚脂肪三胺和/或二聚脂肪二胺和/或单脂肪单胺混合使用。低聚胺优选是含4个或4个以上单元的C10-C30,更优选为C12-C24,特别优选为C14-C22而尤其优选为C18烷基链低聚物。低聚胺的适宜分子量(重均分子量)为高于1000,优选为1200-1800,更优选为1300-1700,特别优选为1400-1600,而尤其优选为1400-1550。
固化剂可包含高达100重量%,优选为1-50重量%,更优选为5-35重量%,特别优选为10-25重量%,而尤其优选为14-20重量%的低聚胺。当低聚胺与三聚脂肪三胺和/或二聚脂肪二胺一起存在时,(i)三聚脂肪三胺用量优选为5-70重量%,更优选为15-55重量%,特别优选为20-45重量%,而尤其优选为25-35重量%,和/或(ii)二聚脂肪二胺的用量优选为10-90重量%,更优选为25-80重量%,特别优选为40-70重量%,而尤其优选为50-60重量%。上面所有重量%的数值都以固化剂中低聚胺、三聚胺和二聚胺的总重量计。
用于本发明中的固化剂通常按照胺氢对环氧基团的化学计量比与环氧树脂进行配比,适用的摩尔比为0.25-4∶1,优选为0.5-2∶1,更优选为0.8-1.2∶1,特别优选为0.9-1.1∶1,而尤其优选为约1∶1。
环氧树脂涂料组合物的相容性,可通过在所有反应剂混合之前,使部分固化剂与单官能环氧树脂或双官能环氧树脂(具有过量的胺氢)相反应而得到改进。对于技术熟练人员来说,这是一种众所周知的普通作法,通常称为加合作用。特别适用于加合作用的环氧树脂包括双酚A二环氧甘油醚、改进型双酚A二环氧甘油醚、双酚F二环氧甘油醚、氧化苯乙烯、氧化环己烯以及苯酚与其它烷基酚的缩水甘油醚。
根据本发明的涂料组合物的优点在于在较高固含量(环氧树脂与固化剂的总量)下能达到较低的粘度,即在低溶剂用量下达到较低的粘度。因此,涂料组合物的粘度在固含量高于35重量%,更优选为40-70重量%,特别优选为45-60重量%,而尤其优选为50-55重量%(以组合物总重量计)时可达到40毫帕·秒(23℃)。同样,涂料组合物的粘度可在溶剂含量低于65重量%,更优选为30-60重量%,特别优选为40-55重量%,尤其优选为45-50重量%(以组合物总重量计)时,达到40毫帕·秒(23℃)。涂料组合物适宜的固含量为以组合物总重量计的重量%值高于23℃时该涂料组合物以毫帕·秒表示的粘度值,优选高于4个单位,更优选为8-30个单位,特别优选为10-20个单位,尤其优选高于12-16个单位。
对于使用而言,根据本发明的优选涂料组合物的粘度为40-50毫帕·秒(23℃),则优选的固含量为35-70重量%,更优选为45-65重量%,特别优选为50-60重量%(以组合物总重量计)。
一个特别的优点在于:EEW为450-500克的环氧树脂的涂料组合物可达到上述优选的固含量和溶剂含量。
上述优选的固含量和溶剂含量的范围适合于只含少许或不含常规无机材料如填料或颜料的涂料组合物。适用的填料包括白垩和白土,适用的颜料包括炭黑、二氧化钛和氧化铁。如果涂料组合物含相当量(例如25-30重量%(以涂料组合物总重量计))的填料和/或颜料,则必须添加额外的溶剂以达到所需的粘度。
在某些情况下,在根据本发明的涂料组合物中掺入所谓促进剂可能是有利的。在H.Lee and K.Neville,Handbook of Epoxy Resins,(McGraw-Hill,New York,1967)中已对这类促进剂作了介绍。适用的促进剂包括各种有机酸、醇、酚、叔胺、羟胺等。特别适用的促进剂包括苄醇、酚、烷基取代的酚(如壬基酚、辛基酚、叔丁基酚、甲酚等)、双酚A、水杨酸、二甲氨基甲酚、双(二甲氨基甲基)酚和三(二甲氨基甲基)酚。通常,这类促进剂的用量为环氧树脂总重量的10%或10%以下,更常用量为5%以下。
也可在本发明涂料组合物中添加增塑剂,添加增塑剂这一点特别适用于这种若不含增塑剂,在为满足一定要求(如耐溶剂性、耐化学性及拉伸强度)所必需的反应程度达到前,会发生组合物的玻璃化转变温度Tg大大高于室温的情况。这类增塑剂对于技术熟练人员来说是众所周知的,在D.F.Cadogan and C.J.Howick,Plasticizers(J.I.Kroschwitz,ed.,Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology,4th Ed.,Wiley,New York,1996,VoL.19,pp.258-290)中对此已作了介绍。特别适用的增塑剂包括苄醇、壬基酚和邻苯二甲酸的各种酯。酯类增塑剂通常是加在与环氧树脂同一包装中以使其与固化剂的反应降至最低。
可使根据本发明的组合物制成的保护性或装饰性涂料与涂料配制技术中众所周知的各种成分如溶剂、填料、颜料、颜料分散剂、流变改性剂、触变剂、流动及流平助剂、消泡剂等相混合。常常选择溶剂混合物以使体系获得最佳的挥发速率,而仍保持基料成分的溶解度。适用的溶剂包括芳族及脂族酯、酮、醚、醇、二醇、二醇醚等。特别适用于配方中的溶剂为酮如丙酮、甲乙酮、甲基异戊基酮、甲基丙基酮、甲基戊基酮、双酮醇等,溶剂能用来延长涂料的适用期而几乎不会或不会牺牲干燥速度。如果配方中包含有酯溶剂,则常将溶剂配入环氧树脂包装中,以使其与固化剂的反应降至最低。
本发明的涂料组合物可通过任何一种技术进行涂敷,其中包括喷涂、刷涂、辊涂、Paint mitt等。大多数基体只需按技术上众所周知的方法进行表面处理,都适于涂敷本发明涂料。这些基体包括(但不受此限制)许多种类金属,特别是钢和铝,以及混凝土。
该涂料组合物特别适用作为基体如混凝土和钢的底涂层。优选用作已涂有本发明底涂层的(i)混凝土上的涂层或面涂层是与底涂层不同的环氧树脂涂层,优选包含填料如石屑;和(ii)钢上的涂层或面涂层是醇酸树脂和/或聚氨酯涂层。
本发明的涂料可在约0℃-约50℃的室温下,优选10℃-40℃下涂敷和固化。根据需要,这种涂料也可在高达100℃或更高温度下实施强制固化。
下面将通过非限制性实施例对本发明进行说明。
实施例
使化学计量的商购聚酰胺固化剂(对照实施例A和B)和包含29重量%三聚脂肪三胺、54重量%二聚脂肪二胺和17重量%低聚胺(重均分子量为1500)的固化剂组合物(实施例C,得自由油酸原料制成的60/40%重量二聚/三聚脂肪酸混合物)分别每EEW为480克(根据ASTM方法D 1652-67测定)的EPIKOTE 1001(双酚A型环氧树脂(购自Resolution)混合在一起。其中重均分子量是通过Agilent 6890高温气相色谱仪,Ultimetal Smidist柱(长5米、内径0.53毫米、Df=0.17微米),烘箱温度60℃(保持1分钟),升温速率1:30°/分钟>150℃,速率2:12°/分钟>380℃(保持10分钟)测定的。EPIKOTE 1001在与固化剂混合前先用溶剂(见组分1)稀释。通过添加所需量的正丁醇/二甲苯50/50(v/v)溶剂混合物以使混合物粘度降至40-50毫帕·秒(Brookfield粘度仪在23℃测定)。

甲基异丁基酮(MIBK) 37.5
采用Meyer绕线棒涂布器将涂料组合物涂敷在玻璃和金属上以形成涂膜,于23℃、50%相对湿度下干燥过夜,然后进行下列试验:
(i)硬度(根据ASTM方法D4366),
(ii)光泽(根据ASTM方法D523),
(iii)间接冲击(ASTM方法D2794),和
(iv)干燥时间(采用Byk-Gardner的干燥记录仪)。
阶段0:流平,阶段1:基本印痕,阶段2:成膜,阶段3:表面印痕,阶段4:干燥
上述实施例说明,根据本发明的涂料组合物的性能已得到了提高。
Claims (12)
1. 一种包含环氧树脂和固化剂的涂料组合物,其中固化剂包含至少一种三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚脂肪胺,其中三聚脂肪三胺,当存在时的含量范围为30-70重量%,并含有30-70重量%二聚脂肪二胺和1-6重量%单脂肪单胺,以固化剂中三聚脂肪胺、二聚脂肪胺和单体脂肪胺的总重量计。
2. 根据权利要求1的组合物,其中环氧树脂的环氧当量为160-4000克。
3. 根据权利要求1和2任一项的组合物,其中三聚脂肪三胺是C10-C30烷基链的三聚体。
4. 根据权利要求1和2任一项的组合物,其中所述更高级低聚脂肪胺是包含4个或4个以上单元C10-C30烷基链的低聚物。
5. 根据权利要求1和2任一项的组合物,其中所述三聚脂肪三胺的含量不大于50重量%。
6. 根据权利要求1和2任一项的组合物,其中所述二聚脂肪二胺的含量不小于50重量%。
7. 根据权利要求1和2任一项的组合物,其中二聚脂肪二胺的含量不大于4重量%。
8. 一种以三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚脂肪胺固化的环氧树脂,其中三聚脂肪三胺,当存在时的含量范围为30-70重量%,并含有30-70重量%二聚脂肪二胺和1-6重量%单脂肪单胺,以固化剂中三聚脂肪胺、二聚脂肪胺和单体脂肪胺的总重量计。
9. 一种固化环氧树脂的方法,包括使环氧树脂与包含三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚脂肪胺的固化剂混合,以使环氧树脂固化,其中三聚脂肪三胺,当存在时的含量范围为30-70重量%,并含有30-70重量%二聚脂肪二胺和1-6重量%单脂肪单胺,以固化剂中三聚脂肪胺、二聚脂肪胺和单体脂肪胺的总重量计。
10. 一种涂有(i)由包含环氧树脂和固化剂的涂料组合物形成的底层和(ii)与底层环氧树脂不同的另一层环氧树脂涂层的混凝土基体,该底层的固化剂包含至少一种三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚脂肪胺,其中三聚脂肪三胺,当存在时的含量范围为30-70重量%,并含有30-70重量%二聚脂肪二胺和1-6重量%单脂肪单胺,以固化剂中三聚脂肪胺、二聚脂肪胺和单体脂肪胺的总重量计,(ii)中另一层环氧树脂涂层任选地包含填料。
11. 一种涂有(i)由包含环氧树脂和固化剂的涂料组合物形成的底层和(ii)另一层醇酸树脂或聚氨酯树脂涂层的钢制基体,该底层中的固化剂包含至少一种三聚脂肪三胺和/或更高级低聚脂肪胺,其中三聚脂肪三胺,当存在时的含量范围为30-70重量%,并含有30-70重量%二聚脂肪二胺和1-6重量%单脂肪单胺,以固化剂中三聚脂肪胺、二聚脂肪胺和单体脂肪胺的总重量计。
12. 一种制造涂料组合物的方法,该方法包括:(i),在压力下使脂肪酸聚合以制得包含单脂肪酸和/或二聚脂肪酸和/或三聚脂肪酸的反应混合物,(ii),使(i)中制得的反应混合物中的至少一种酸转变为胺,以及(ii),使(ii)中制得的至少一种胺与环氧树脂相混合,条件是至少一种胺是三聚脂肪三胺或更高级低聚脂肪胺,并且,其中三聚脂肪三胺,当存在时的含量范围为30-70重量%,并含有30-70重量%二聚脂肪二胺和1-6重量%单脂肪单胺,以固化剂中三聚脂肪胺、二聚脂肪胺和单体脂肪胺的总重量计。
