Waterproof watch
Winding crowns screwed onto the pendant have already been produced outside of the actuation times.
these crowns making it possible to improve the sealing of the case.
On the other hand, in watches comprising the time indications at different points on the globe, for example a rotating bezel bearing the indications of different cities is used. This rotating bezel is either placed on the outside of the crystal, or in the case. In the latter case it is controlled independently.
Non-waterproof watches are known provided with a bezel mounted rotatably under the crystal bearing a toothing capable of meshing with a pinion carried by the winding stem when the winding crown is pulled into an intermediate position between the winding position of the spring and the time setting position.
Such meshing is unsatisfactory due to imprecise relative positioning of said toothing and of the control pinion.
Non-waterproof watches are also known provided with a pinion still in engagement with the toothing of the mobile bezel, added to the square on the winding stem. These mechanisms cannot be used on a waterproof watch.
The present invention proposes to simplify this assembly and relates to a waterproof watch, comprising a rotating bezel and a device for winding, setting the time and driving the rotating bezel by means of a crown which, at rest, is screwed onto the pendant and uncoupled from the rod, and which, once unscrewed, drives the rod in rotation and in axial displacement between two extreme positions corresponding to winding and setting the time, said rod having means of 'drive of the rotating bezel arranged so as to cooperate with the latter when the stem is in an intermediate position between the winding and time-setting positions.
Said drive is obtained by the cooperation of a toothing of the bezel and a toothed sleeve, drive made possible by the mechanical clutch of a polygonal element of the winding stem holder with said toothed sleeve, said clutch being engaged only when the crown is in said intermediate position, characterized by the fact that said toothed sleeve is positioned rotatably on a support integral with the housing and provided with a polygonal opening which can cooperate, in the clutch position only with the polygonal element of the carrier. rod.
Such an arrangement has the distinct advantage of better meshing of the drive teeth of the bezel due to precise positioning of the toothed sleeve, making it possible to reduce the backlash to a minimum, and therefore to eliminate the risks of scratching, in particularly during energetic pulling on the winding crown, which has a favorable influence on the longevity of the mechanism.
The appended drawing represents by way of example two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. I is a partial axial section of a watch case, at the location of the control device.
Fig. 2 is a radial section, corresponding to FIG. I.
Crown I shown in the drawing is screwed onto pendant 2 which is itself also screwed into middle part 3 of the case. The crown I comprises a hollow axial barrel inside which is placed a closing element 5 making it possible to introduce the stem holder 6 into the crown.
Sealing gaskets are provided between the crown and the pendant.
The barrel 4 has a polygonal opening 7 intended to cooperate with an element of polygonal section 8 of the rod holder 6 which also comprises a stop element 9 against which the end 7 of the barrel abuts, when the crown is pulled back.
When the crown is unscrewed and the elements 7 and 8 cooperate, the device is in the winding position.
In the device shown in FIGS. I and 2, when the crown is pulled further, and therefore the rod holder 6 is moved, the polygonal element 10 of the rod holder 6 engages in the corresponding shaped opening 11 made in a sleeve 12 rotatably mounted in a support 13 fixed in the housing. This sleeve 12 has a set of teeth 14 on the outside which meshes with a corresponding set of teeth in the lower part of the rotating bezel 15.
By pulling the stem holder back as far as possible, one passes, in a known manner, into the time-setting position.
It goes without saying that the system can be applied to a device for driving the rod in rotation and in axial displacement other than that shown in the drawing.
