Welding machine The present invention relates to a welding machine comprising a welding head driven by a longitudinal relative movement relative to the work to be welded, and a transverse oscillating movement relative to this longitudinal movement.
The welding machine according to the invention is characterized in that the welding head is carried by a balance actuated by a link mechanism and my level which gives it the aforesaid transverse oscillation movement, in that said link is articulated. lée, by one of its ends, on said crank, which is angularly integral with said balance, tan say that by its other end, it cooperates with a cam giving it a transverse oscillation movement around its articulation on the crank, and in that this connecting rod is also articulated on a connecting rod mounted so as to be able to pivot freely around a stationary axis with an adjustable position at will, to force this connecting rod,
when it oscillates transversely under the action of the cam, to simultaneously perform an alternating longitudinal movement of adjustable amplitude depending on the position of this stationary axis, this longitudinal movement causing in turn, through the intermediary of the crank, the transverse oscillating movement of the balance carrying the welding head.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the welding machine which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a view in longitudinal vertical section of the actuation mechanism of the welding head.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view, corresponding to FIG. 2 and showing the members in their position corresponding to a practically zero amplitude of the transverse oscillation movement of the welding head.
Fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3 but representing the organs in the position corresponding to the maximum amplitude of the transverse bone movement of the welding head.
The machine shown comprises a table on which is the work to be welded 1 and rails 2 on which moves a carriage 3 supporting a housing 4 serving to support and actuate a welding head 5. When moving the carriage 3 on the rails 2, the welding head 5 moves longitudinally with respect to the work 1. Inside the housing 4 is a mechanism which gives the welding head an oscillating movement transversely with respect to this longitudinal movement . The weld bead obtained and which has the direction of the aforesaid longitudinal movement is indicated at 6. In part 7 of this bead, the transverse oscillation movement of the welding head has been shown schematically.
The amplitude of this oscillation corresponds to the width of the weld bead.
The housing 4 carries a welding wire torch not shown and an electric motor 8 actuating, via a shaft 9, the mechanism located in the housing 4 and which will be described now.
The welding head 5 is located at the end of a welding beam 10, arranged to be able to turn around an axis 11. This beam is integral with a crank 12 at the end of which is articulated in 13 a connecting rod 14, the opposite end of which has the shape of a fork with two teeth 15, 16 between which rotates a cam 17 wedged on the shaft 9. It is understood that, under the effect of the rotation of the cam 17 , the connecting rod 14 performs a lateral oscillation movement around the pivot 13. This oscillation movement by itself has virtually no effect on the position of the crank 12 and, therefore, on the position of the head. welding 5.
To give this welding head a transverse oscillation movement relative to the longitudinal direction of the weld bead 6, the mechanism further comprises the following means: a link 18 is articulated by one of its ends at 19 on the link 14, near the forked end thereof. This rod pivots about an axis 20, stationary, carried by a crank 21. This crank is mounted on an axis 22 and is integral with a plate 23 having an arcuate groove 24 concentric with the axis 22.
A screw 25, fixed relative to the cabinet 4, passes through the groove 24 and a wing nut 26 serves to immobilize the part 23 in any position relative to the screw 25. When the screw 25 is, as shown in fi-. 3, at the right-hand end of the groove 24, the pivot 20 is located in the median plane of the connecting rod when the latter is in the middle position as indicated in this figure. In this case, when the cam 17 rotates, practically the connecting rod 14 only oscillates around its articulation 13 without this articulation moving.
If the part 23 is brought to occupy the position shown in FIG. 4, for which the screw 25 is located at the left end of the groove 24, then the pivot 20 of the link 18 is at a certain distance from the median plane of the link when the latter is in the middle position. The consequence is that, during the rotation of the cam 17, the connecting rod 14 not only performs an oscillating movement around its articulation 13 but is obliged to take, because of the kinematic connection formed by the connecting rod 18, a longitudinal oscillation movement.
Indeed, for the position of the cam 17 shown in solid lines in FIG. 4, the articulation of the connecting rod 18 on the connecting rod 14 is located at the location indicated 19, while, for the symmetrical position of the cam 17 shown in phantom, this articulation is at 19 '. The difference between these two positions, measured in the longitudinal direction of the connecting rod 14, represents the amplitude of the longitudinal oscillation movement of this connecting rod. This longitudinal movement is transmitted to the crank 12 and, consequently, to the balance 10 and to the welding head 5. The position shown in FIG. 4 corresponds to the maximum amplitude of the transverse oscillation movement of the welding head.
It is understood that one can adjust said amplitude at will, to any intermediate value between zero (fig. 3) and this maximum value (fig. 4), by fixing the part 23 by means of the nut 26 in any position. intermediate relative to the screw 25. In other words, each position of the part 23 relative to the screw 25 corresponds to a certain amplitude of the transverse oscillation movement of the welding head.
