Door handle with locking of the lock by a combination mechanism housed in the handle. Door handles are known, in particular for motor vehicle doors, which include a removable key so that the lock can be immobilized and thus prevent the door from opening. This device, while being efficient in operation, has the drawback of requiring a key that can be difficult to insert at night or in poor visibility in the lock of the handle and that there is a risk of to lose or lose.
The present invention, which relates to a door handle with locking of the lock by a combination mechanism housed in the handle, remedies the drawback reported. It comprises a tu bulaire handle, fixed to the door so as to be able to be partially disassembled and comprising at its front part, facing the, lock, a control member of the bolt of the latter, handle characterized by the fact that 'it has a hollow cylindrical part covered with a rotating concentric cover and which contains the combination mechanism producing the locking of the control member.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows two embodiments of the door handle which is the subject of the invention, more particularly applicable to automobile doors.

Figs. 16 to 18 represent. details of the combination mechanism.
Fig. 16 is a side view and FIG. 17 an end view of the adjustment axis. Fig. 18 is a front view of the removable disk.
Fig. 19 is an overall plan view with partial section of the. handle.
Fig. 20, finally, is a partial elevational view of the control of the lock. The handle shown in the first embodiment, fig. 1 to 11, is fixed to the door 1 of a motor vehicle 2 by means of two supports 3 and 4. The rear support 3 is fixed by means of a screw 5, concealed under the interior trim of the door, and can be dismantled. The front support 4, of tubular form, is screwed into the door and consolidated thereon by a lock nut 6.
The handle itself, interposed in a rigid manner between the two supports 3 and 4, is constituted by a fixed tube 7, the front end of which is screwed to part 8 of the support 4 and the rear end is fitted. in, the bearing 9 of the posterior support 3. The fixed tube 7 is surrounded by a concentric tube 1.0 which serves as a movable cover, in order to give access to the interior of the tube 7 in which the combination mechanism is housed.
To this end, the tube 7 and the cover 10 are sectioned at their upper part along a horizontal plane defining a segment whose center angle is approximately 85, as shown in FIG. 3. The rotation of the cover 10 on the tube 7 is limited by a stop 11, fixed to the end of a spring. with blades placed inside the tube 7. In the extreme opening and key closing positions of the cover 10, the stop 11 can penetrate into the cells 1.2, 12 'respectively, arranged in the cover 10.
The front support 4 is fixed to the part of the door adjacent to the wall of the body in which. the door lock is housed. It is also tubular in shape and is used to house the control member, interposed between the lock 13 and the combination mechanism. This control member is formed by a rod 14 in one of the ends of which is crimped a rolling ball 15 which acts, on a cam 1.6 of a lever 17, oscillating. in 18 and. action with its other end on the lock 13.
Lever 17 is. provided with a spring, antagonist 19 which ensures contact. between said lever and the ball 15. The other end of the control member ends with a pressure button 20 which exceeds the paidie 8 of the support 4. The rod 14 slides in a guide washer 21 on which s 'supports a .reminder spring 22 which tends to push the button 20 out of the handle.
Between the spring 22 and the button 20, the rod 14 forms a frustoconical part 23 on which the bevelled end of the latch 24 rests. part of the combination mechanism.
This mechanism, housed in a housing which .est placed inside said tube 7 of the handle, consists of a number of sets, for example four sets of numbered knurls including. the elements are shown in detail in FIGS. 4 to 8. The adjustment axis 25 of each game is supported by the rear wall 26 and the middle wall 26 'of the housing. Between these two staves, the axis 25 is provided with a flat for fixing the wheel 27.
On the anterior part 28 of axis 25, in the fiery ten-toothed stellate nucleus, is. fixed a removable disk 29, having a radial notch 30 inside which one of the tabs of the latch 24 can move freely, as will be described below. Small notches in an arc of a circle are provided at the periphery of the disc 29, to conceal the real opening position of the lock and to divert untimely tests.
The thumbwheel 27 (fig. 4), a portion of the periphery of which protrudes from the sectioned part of the handle, bears on its front face any ten signs, for example the numbers 0 to 9, distributed over a circumference. and corresponding to. the teeth of the disc 29.
To ensure the. stop position of the mo lettes, a retaining spring 31 (FIG. 5), in the form of a disc, is interposed between each of the wheels 27 and the wall 26 'of the housing. This spring carries on its rear face a wise bos 32, in the form of a wedge, which is intended to p # meter in recesses 33, of the same shape, formed in the face of the wheel bearing the marks and arranged radially opposite each numbers on a circumference concentric with that on which the marks are placed.
On his. face opposite to that bearing the boss 32 and the opposite end of the passing diameter. by said boss 32, the spring 31 is provided with a tongue 34, the end of which is permanently fixed in the median wall 26 'of the housing to make this spring integral with the latter. An annular recess 35, in the form of a partial crown, is made in the thickness of the spring 31, with a view to giving it flexibility.
Between the middle wall 26 'and the cover 26 "of the housing is housed the lock 24, the special shape of which emerges from Figs. 1 to 3. This lock, which occupies the entire length of the handle, ends at its posterior end. by a pressure spring 36, tending to apply the bevelled end of the lock against the frustoconical part 23 of the pressure button 20. The lock 24 has four oblong recesses for housing the four removable discs 29 and their axes. of each radial notch 30 of the disc 29, the lock carries a tongue 37 which penetrates into said notch when the lock is pushed back by the button 20 to open the door.
It can therefore be seen that this tongue cannot penetrate into the notch of the disc if the position of the mats does not correspond to the opening combination. Indeed, if the wheel is moved, the tongue abuts against the small peripheral notches of the disc 29 and thus blocks the operation of the lock.
The combination mechanism described is housed in the box which appears, as shown in fig. 9 to 11. This box: ier which is introduced into the fixed tube 7 by its posterior end is applied against part 8 of the anterior support 4 by means of a pressure spring 38, housed inside the scope 9 of the rear support 3 and serving to avoid any vibrations of the housing inside the handle.
The door lock operates as follows: When the user has chosen the four digits of his combination on the knobs 27 at the rate of one digit per knob, these digits, which are visible in fig. 1 on the protruding part of the knobs, protrude from the apertures 39 of the housing shown in FIGS. 9 to 11.
In this position, the radial notches 30 of the discs 29 are located opposite the lan guettes 37 of the lock, so that by pushing on the button 20 of the handle, the control rod 14 can be depressed, given that the frustoconical part of the button pushes back the bevelled end of the lock by making the tongues penetrate into the notches 30.
The rod 14 thus pressed into the support 4 pushes the cam 16 with its ball 15, causing the lever 17 to oscillate, the end of which pushes the lock 13, thus freeing the door for opening.
When the user wants to lock the door, he turns the cover 10 of the handle to give access to the protruding parts of the knobs, the combination of which need only be scrambled by turning them by means of with a nudge acting on the edge of the knobs to prevent the tabs 37 of the lock 24 from entering the notches 30 of the discs \? 9, thus immobilizing the operation of the button 20, which has the effect of preventing 1-opening of the door.
It is therefore necessary to turn the knobs and redo the correct combination chosen by the user to allow the tongues 37 to engage again in the radial notches 30 of the discs 29. The button 20 is then released and thus allows the opening of the disc. the lock 13.
When the user wishes to change the combination of the locking mechanism, he dismantles the rear support 3, which gives access to the housing 26, 26 ', 26 "which is removed from the inner tube 7 to reach the axes of the knurls by removal of the 26 "cover. We move the discs 29 on their star nucleus 28 to form the new combination.
The lock 24 is also provided with a slider 61 (fig. 1), sliding in a light of the housing, making it possible to facilitate, if necessary, the release of the bevel end of the lock for the opening of the lock. the door, the knobs being, of course, placed in the combination chosen for this purpose.
Figs. 12 to 20 show a second embodiment of the door handle which differs from the first only by a different arrangement of the combination mechanism. The wheel 27 'marker holder, instead of presenting the numbers on the periphery of its front face, bears the marks of the combination on facets arranged on the edge of the wheel. On the other hand, the axis which carries the set of wheel and disc, as well as the control member of the lock, are of different shapes.
The box containing the combination mechanism is. housed inside the tube 7 (end-. 14), sectioned at the top and surrounded by a concentric cover 10, as in the first embodiment. The handle (fig. 19), instead of being parallel to the door, is fixed obliquely in relation to the latter. The rear support is here bent in the form of a cane beak 39 'and fixed, as before, by a knurled screw 5. The front support 40 in which the handle is fixed is also of tubular shape and contains a rod 41 for controlling the control. lock whose rear end acts on the oscillating cam 42, provided with a spring, return 43.
The oscillation of the cam 42 around its pivot 44 a. the effect is to move the hook 45 by releasing it from the lock 46, indicated in phantom thread. 20. The front end of the rod 41 is also provided with a button 47 ending. by a frustoconical part 48 on which the end 49 cut into a point of the lock 50 rests.
The combination mechanism, housed in a housing 51, also consists of four sets of members, each of which is mounted on an adjustment pin 52 (fig. 16 and 17). The front part of this axis is constituted by a washer 53 bearing marks corresponding to those of the wheel 27 'and provided with two diametrically opposed fingers 54, 54' as well as a centering bearing surface 55 of the removable disc 56 ( end-. 18). The latter also carries a radial notch 30 as well as small peripheral notches, like the disc 29 of the previous embodiment, but, instead of the star interlocking, the disc is provided with recesses.
the number corresponds to the divisions of the carpet and the shape of which allows the engagement of the fingers 54, 54 'in the position corresponding to the combination chosen on the. scroll wheel. To ensure the correct correspondence between the location of the numbers on the dial and the marks on the washer 53, it is necessary. that the zero of the wheel corresponds to the zero of the washer, visible in the notch 30 of the disc, as shown in fig. 12 and 13.
