Description
Process for the preparation of a trisazo dye. It has been found that a valuable trisazo dye is obtained if one uses a diazo compound of the amino disazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0007
With. 8-Oxy quinoline couples.
The new dye forms a blackish powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blackish blue color and in water with a blue-violet color and dyes cotton in greenish marine blue shades of good lightfastness and excellent washfastness using the one- or two-bath sewing process.
The amino disazo dye used as the starting material is expediently converted by Kupp-Jung from diazotized 2-methyl-4-amino-5-nietlioxy-4'-oxy -1,1'-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid with 2- (4'- Aminophenyl) -amino-5-oxynaphthaliti-7,3'-disulfonic acid.
The Dia.zotie- tion of the aminodisazo dye takes place before 5 part of the so-called indirect Me method by z. B. a solution or Sus pension, which contains the aminodisazo dye in the form of an alkali salt and expediently a small excess of free alkali o and the required amount of nitrite, combined with an excess of dilute hydrochloric acid.
The coupling of the diazodisazo compound with the 8-oxyquinoline takes place. with advantage in alkaline, e.g. B. alkali carbonate or alkaline earth hydroxide medium, if desired with the addition of coupling-promoting substances such as pyridine. example:
30.1 parts of 2-methyl-4-amino-5-methoxy-4'-oxy-1,1'-a.zobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid are added in 700 parts with the amount of sodium hydroxide solution necessary for neutralization dissolved in warm water, mixed with 7 parts of sodium nitrite as a 4-fold normal solution and after cooling to 10 to 12 by adding dilute hydrochloric acid, consisting of 35 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid and 100 parts of water,
diazotized. After the end of the diazotization, coupling is carried out at 0 to 5 with an alkaline sodium carbonate solution of 41 parts of 2- (4'-aminophen®> 1) -amino-5-oxy naphthalene-7,3'-disulfonic acid. The mixture is stirred for a few hours, warmed to 50, neutralized with hydrochloric acid until brilliant yellow paper shows almost neutral, and the dye falls by adding 20 parts of sodium chloride to 100 parts by volume of the coupling mixture.
After cooling, it is filtered off and washed with 5% atrium chloride solution. The dye is dissolved in 1500 with the addition of 12.5 'files')' 0% Parts of water dissolved, mixed with 7 parts of sodium nitrite as a normal solution and at 10 to 1.5 by adding 60 parts of hydrochloric acid diluted with 120 parts of water
diazotized. The mixture is stirred for a few hours, the excess nitrite is destroyed with sulfamic acid, a weak hydrochloric acid solution of 14.5 parts of 8-ozyehino- lin is first added and then a solution of 60 parts of sodium carbonate in 250 parts of water is added. The temperature is maintained at 5 to 10 after adding Dis. After the Kupp-Inn is finished, it is heated to about 70,
add 10 parts of sodium siloride to 100 parts by volume of Ptealition® mixture and filter off the dye.
