Caisse enregistreuse.

Cash register. The object of the invention is a registering box comprising a receptacle for receiving a writing material, a printing device adjustable as a function of data to be printed on the writing material introduced into the register. the container, and a device for triggering the cash register for an operating cycle. during which said data is printed on the writing material.
This body is, moreover, characterized by members made effective after the operating cycle in question to lock the body against any new operating cycle as long as the writing material which received the printing during this cycle remains. still in the container.
Thus, in the case according to the invention, it is impossible for a double impression to inadvertently occur on the marking material; furthermore, the operator is warned that the writing material has been left in the cash register after a previous cycle of operation of the latter.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the box forming the subject of the invention, this embodiment being constituted by a box of the type described in Swiss patent N 284947 of the 1st ' 'July 1949.

Fig. 8 is the facsimile - of a printed form, on which printed entries are made by the cash register.
Fig. 9 is a detailed view of a sheet, detached from the form shown in FIG. 8. The cash register shown is provided with a series of levers 30 (Fig. 7) for the composition of the amounts (-His only is shown) and which are mounted on a voting camshaft 31. Each of the levers 30 is provided with a series of teeth 32 meshing with a pinion 33 wedged on a shaft 34 which extends into the printing section of the body and, thanks to which the character carriers are placed in position according to the movements of the levers 30 .
The other upright levers, similar to lever 30, are all provided with teeth 32 engaged with pinions 33 connected, by interlocking sleeves, to the corresponding character carriers.
The lever 30 is provided with notches 35 cooperating with a lug 36 of a lever 39, which pivots on a shaft 37 held in the position represented by a spring 38. When the lever 30 is positioned, so to compose a sum, the lug 36 clicks successively in the notches 35. As indicated in the case described in Swiss patent N 284947, a device is also provided for locking the lug in a notch 35 during operation. of the body, so as to prevent the operation of the lever 30 during the 1st cycle.
The upper end of the lever 30 passes through a slot provided in the trunk and is provided with a finger, by which the lever can be manipulated.
Each of the upright levers 30 carries a lug 40, which cooperates with a corresponding arm 41, mounted idle on the shaft 31, this arm 41 being connected by connecting rod cover 42 to an arm of a toothed sector 43 used for. the drive of the totalisers, mounted idle on a rod 44 carried by similar plates 45 ft voting on a shaft 46 which pivots in the frame of the body.
The plates 45 are hand held in a rigid relationship with respect to one another, thanks to the rod 44, the whole assembly constituting a tiltable frame which can engage the teeth of the segments 43 with similar teeth of the corresponding gears. laying of totalisers 47, which can rotate on a shaft 48 supported by the frame of the body. The gear 47 meshes with a pinion integral with a totalizer wheel 49, idle on a shaft 50 carried by the frame.
Springs 51, stretched between each of the segments 43 and the levers 30, actuate the said segments in the senestrorsuiii direction (FIG. 7), so as to keep the arm 41 in contact with the lugs 40. It results evidently from the above, that the positioning of the lever 30 also puts the corresponding segments 43 in similar and corresponding positions.
Each of the plates 45 carries rollers 52 and 53 cooperating with respective cams 54 and 55 wedged on the main shaft 31 .. As will be seen. further on, a revolution of the main shaft 31 in the dextror- sum direction causes full operation of the body. The initial movement of the main shaft 31 forces the cams 54 and 55, in co operation with the rollers 52 and 53, to. lower the frame made up of the plates 45, in the senestorsum direction, so as to bring the teeth of the segments 43 into engagement with the corresponding totalizing gears 47.
Once the segments 43 mesh with the gears, the movement continues. of the main shaft 31 causes a cam 56 of the units of each order, wedged on the main shaft 31, to engage with corresponding rollers 57, mounted on the connecting rods 42, which brings back the segments 43 of the position in which they had been placed, by a dextrorsal movement, to their normal position. This does. turning the totalizer wheels 49 in proportion to the amount compounded with the upright levers 30, thereby causing the amount to be registered in the totalizer wheels.
A continuous portion of the periphery of the cam 56 forces the segments 43 to remain in the zero position until subsequent rotation of the shaft 31 causes the cams 54 and 55 to tilt the segment frame in the dextrorsum direction. , so as to release the segments 43 from the totalizing gears 47, after which the declining edges of the cams 56 allow the springs 51 to row the segments 43 and their associated rods 42 and the arms 41 in the senestorsnrii direction until their chosen positions, positions which are determined by the coming into contact of the arms 41 and the lugs 40.
A tens carryover mechanism of any suitable and known type is provided to ensure the transfer of an order lower than the immediately higher order of the totalizer, when the number recorded in the lower order crosses zero. Drive mechanism.
The body can be operated by means of a manually operable drive crank (not shown, but well known per se) or by an electric motor. In the latter case, a gear (not shown) is driven by the armature of the motor; this gear is engaged with a ring gear 60 (fig. 6), which then rotates in the senestrorsum direction (fig. 6). The crown 60 is wedged on a ratchet wheel 61 and the assembly, consisting of the crown 60 and the ratchet wheel 61, can rotate on a pivot 62 carried by the left side frame of the body.
On the pivot 62 is also mounted a disc 63, carrying a clutch pawl 64 pivoting on a lug 65 carried by the latter. A spring 66, connected by one of its ends to the pawl 64 and by the other to a lug carried by the disc 63, normally tends to bring the pawl 64 into engagement with the ratchet wheel 61. When the body is at rest, a stop arm 67, described later, is in the path of an arm 68, facing upwards, of the clutch pawl 64, and the arm 68 is in engagement with a lug 69 of the disc 63 , which absolutely blocks the saying that 63.
When the body is released for operation, in the manner which will be described later, the stop arm 67 is lifted and thus disengaged from the arm 68, which allows the spring 66 to drive the clutch pawl. 64 in contact with the ratchet wheel 61, which, at this moment, is driven by the motor.
When the clutch pawl 64 falls behind a tooth of the ratchet wheel 61, the ratchet wheel drives the pawl, along with the disc, in the senestrorsum direction. When the arm 68 again approaches its starting position, the arm 67 is again lowered, as will be described later, and brought into the path of the arm 68, which forces the latter to come into contact with it. the lug 69, thus stopping the disc 63 after the main shaft 31 has made a complete rotation. Also attached to disc 63 is a gear 71 in mesh with a gear 72 wedged on shaft 31.
Therefore, when the disc 63 is stopped, the gears 71 and 72 and the main shaft 31 are stopped, after the main shaft has made a full rotation. The ratio between gears 71 and 72 is 1: 1. In other words, a complete rotation of the gear 71 results in a complete rotation of the gear 72 and the main shaft 31.
The triggering mechanism.
Once the levers 30 have been properly positioned, the body can be released for operation by the depression of a drive bar 75 (Fig. 5) which releases a mechanism which pulls the arm back. 67 of its contact with the arm 68 of the clutch click 64, and which, at the same time, triggers a mechanism closing a contact of a circuit passing through the motor.
The driving bar 75 (FIG. 5) is removably mounted on two lugs 76 carried by a slide 77. The slide 77 is for viewing slots, so as to be able to slide on three lugs 78, 79 and 80 carried by the frame. right side 74 of the machine. A spring 81, one end of which is connected to a lug of the slide 77 and the other to a lug of the side frame 74, normally maintains the slide 77 in its upper position, in which its movement is limited by the lugs 78 and 79. The slide 77 is provided with a tenon 82 which passes through a cam slot 83 of a lever 84 pivoting on the main shaft 31.
The lower end of lever 84 is forked, so as to engage a lug 85 mounted on an arm 86 wedged on a release shaft 87 of the body. A lever with several branches 88 is pivotally mounted at 89 on the side frame 74, and one of its branches is provided with an enlarged head 90 held normally, by means of a spring 98, against a cheek 91 made on the arm. 86.
The depression of the driving bar 75 moves the slide 77 downwards, which forces the tenon 82 placed in the cam slot 83 to drag the lever 84 in the dextrorsum direction. A release slot provided in the lever 84, cooperates with the lug 80, so as to allow such movement. The movement clans the dextrorsiun direction of the lever 84, by means of the lug 85, causes the arm 86 to tilt in the senestorsum direction, which moves the cheek 91 away from under the ridge 90, thus freeing the lever 88 which triggers the cash register in the manner which will be described.
Concurrently with the lowering of the smooth neck 77, a cheek 92 made on the smooth neck 77 is withdrawn from the path of an enlarged head 93 made on an arm directed upwards of the multi-pronged lever 88. Thus, when the flanges 91 and 92 are separated from the respective widened portions 90 and 93, the res out 98 can tilt the lever 88 in the senestrorsum direction (Fig. 5).
An arm directed towards the rear of the lever 88 has a fork which engages a lug 94 of an arm 95, wedged on a shaft 96 carried by the frame of the machine. The arm 67 is also fixed on this shaft 96. Consequently, when the lever 88 pivots in the senestrorsum direction, by the spring 98, the arms 95 and 67 are driven in the opposite direction, so as to move the end of the shaft apart. arm 67 of arm 68 (FIG. 6) of clutch pawl 64, which leaves the latter free to undergo the action of spring 66 and causes the main shaft of the body to begin its revolution.
Attached to the shaft 96 is also an operating arm 97 which is arranged to close the circuit passing through the electric motor, in a well known manner which has not been shown here.
The lever with several branches 88 and the arm 67 are returned to their normal position, towards the end of the operating cycle of the body, by a lug 100 (fig. 5) mounted on the side of a gear 101 cal6 on the main shaft 31. When the lever 88 is left to the action of the spring 98, during the depression of the driving bar 75, and when the lever 88 rocks in the senestrorsum direction, a cam-edge 102 is brought on the path. lug 100.
Thus, towards the end of the rotation of the main shaft 31, the lug 100, arriving. towards the end of its movement, engages with the edge 102 of the lever 88 and causes this arm to tilt in the dextrorsum direction until it is brought back to its normal position. At this moment, the arm 86 is caused to place its rim 91 under the enlarged surface 90, thanks to the action of a spring 103 secured to a rod 104, to which are also subject a number of arms 105, a for each post lever 30, wedged on the shaft 87. Replacing the arm 86 also returns the lever 84 to its normal position, which allows the tenon 82 to climb into the cam slot 83 and leave the slide 77 return to its starting position under the action of the spring. 81.
At the same time as it returns the slide 77 to its normal position, it moves the flange 92 on the path of the widened end 93 of the lever with several arms 88.
A non-repeating pawl 106 is pivotally mounted on a lug 107, carried by the multi-branch lever 88, to which a spring 109 is also attached. This spring normally maintains a lug 110 against one side of an arm of the lever. 88. When the slide 7 7 is lowered by pushing in the driving bar 75., the flange 92 comes into contact with the upper face of the pawl 106 and causes it to move downwards in the senestrorsum direction. When the drive bar 75 is released, towards the end.
during operation of the machine, the flange 92 is raised again, which leaves the eliquet 106 to the action of the spring 109, after which the parts assume the position shown in FIG. 5. If, however, the operator keeps the drive bar depressed until the end of the body's operation, it will happen that when the lever 88 is returned to. its original position by the lug 100, the pawl 106 is moved away, by tilting, from the rim 92, after which the spring 109 brings with a sudden movement the pawl 106 in the position of contact with the right side of the rim 92.
The flange 92, therefore, prevents the multi-leg lever 88 from being returned to its original position, (so that the body cannot be released for subsequent operation while the operator has not removed his finger from the drive bar 75. When he removes his finger, to allow the spring 81 to return the drive bar 75 to its original position, the flange 92 passes beyond the end 111 of the pawl 106, thus allowing the spring 98 to return the lever 88 to its original position, where it will be ready for further operation of the body.
Positioning of the characters. The shaft 34 (fig. 1) and the telescopic tubes 115, surrounding the shaft 34, are adjusted according to the positioning of the levers 30 (fig. 7), as mentioned earlier. The shaft 34 and the tubes 115 extend into the part of the box reserved for printing (fig. 1). Wedged on the shaft 34 and on each of the tubes 115 is a gear 116, each of these meshing with three character wheels 117, 118 'and 119. The character wheels 117 are provided for the composition of the data intended. to be printed on an insertable card 210 shown in fig. 9.
The character wheels 118 are. provided to compose the data intended to be printed on a control tape 145 (fig. 1) described below, while finally, the type wheels 119 are provided to compose the data intended to be printed on a printed form 181 shown in wire ;. 8.
The character wheels 118 and 119 are pivotally mounted on shafts 120 and 121, respectively, carried by the side frame of (frame 122 and by an auxiliary frame (not shown) mounted to the left of the side frame 112. < / B> The character wheels 117 are carried by raanehons equipped with gears (not shown) which mesh with the pinions 116.
Character wheel alignment device . When an aligner 130 is tilted in a manner which will later be specially described, it simultaneously engages all of the gears 116 and simultaneously aligns the three groups of character wheels 117, 118 and 119.
The aligner 130 is pivotally mounted on a shaft 131, carried by the left side frame 122 and by the auxiliary frame (not shown). One of the arms of the aligner 130, directed downwards, is provided with a lug 132 cooperating with a blade 133 of the shaft 46. Also fixed on the shaft 46 (fig. 5), </ B> is a gear 136 which is in mesh with an intermediate pinion 137 pivotally mounted on a shaft 138. The intermediate pinion 137 meshes with a toothed wheel 139 mounted idle on a shaft 140. The toothed wheel 139 meshes with the pinion 101 previously mentioned, wedged on the main shaft 31 of the body.
Consequently, when the main shaft 31 receives its rotational movement in the dextrorsum direction, the shaft 46, via the gears 139, 137 and 136, starts to rotate in the senestrorsum direction (fig. 5). ). At the start of the operation of the body, the cam 133, cooperating with the lug 132, switches the aligner 130, so that the teeth of the gears 116 align the character wheels in the manner which has been previously described. control strip.
All the data entered in the. cash register are recorded on control tape 145 (fig. 1), This. The tape comes from a feed roller 146 rotatably mounted on an axis 147. The tape passes over guide rollers 148 and a lug 149, then over a tension roller 150 and a take-up roller 151. feed roller, guide rollers 148, lug 149, tension roller 150 and take-up roller 151 are all carried by a removable frame (not shown) which can be removed from the box to allow replacement. easy to feed the control strip.
The end of the web is held on the take-up roller 151 by a wrench 152. Attached to the side of the take-up roller 151 is an advancing ratchet wheel 153 with which a drive lever 151 for advancing cooperates. strip one line after each checkout operation. The lever 151 is secured to a shaft 155 carried by the frame of the machine; this shaft also carries a gear 156 meshing with a pinion 157 mounted idle on a lug 158, and meshing with a gear 159 placed on the main shaft 31.
When the main shaft 31 performs a full rotational movement, during operation. of the body, the shaft 155 is also driven by the intermediary of the gears 159, 157 and 156, which imposes on the lever 154 a rotation of a complete revolution. When the shaft 155 comes near the end of its travel, the lever 151 engages between the teeth of the ratchet wheel 153 and rotates the take-up roller by an amount sufficient to advance the control tape. one line space. A non-return alignment pawl 160 rotates on a lug 160 carried by the removable frame of the control strip.
A spring 162 brings the pawl 160 into engagement with the teeth of the ratchet wheel 153. The pawl is provided with two bevelled edges which normally engage on either side of a tooth of the ratchet wheel, which constitutes a means of preventing any retrograde movement and also any accidental rotation in the direction of travel. . printing hammer for the strip of control.
The data is recorded on the control tape by means of a printing hammer 170, sliding on a tenon 171 and on a shaft 172. A spring 173 normally maintains the hammer in the retracted position.
The hammer is moved, against the action of res out 173, by a cam 174 wedged on the shaft 172. On this same shaft 172 is also fixed a pinion 175, meshing with the toothed wheel 156 mentioned above. The hammer 170 is provided with a roller 176 which is on the path of the cam 174. When the latter is tilted, during the operation, the cam, cooperating with the roller 176, pushes the hammer. 170 to, wear the strip against the character wheels 118, so that the data carried on these wheels is written on the strip. An ink ribbon 177 passes through the machine, passing each set of character wheels 117, 118 and 119, thereby allowing data to be written onto the tape. The tape mechanism will be described below.
form printing mechanism. A table 180, supported by the frame of the cash register, is intended to receive the printed form 181 (fig. 8) on which is written data collected on the series type wheel 119. The table 180 is provided with adjustable stops, which are arranged to properly align the locations of the form reserved for entering data. As will be seen by referring to. fig. 8, there are six locations on the Form 181 for entering data, and each of them is reserved for a defined payment period.
For example, when it is the March taxes that arrive. at expiry, the stops are. arranged so that the location indicated by the. endorsement N 1 is to the alignment of the printing wheels 119 and a cliché 179. When the period of llai expires, the adjustable stops are arranged in such a way that, when the form 181 is introduced into the cash register, this is the location marked with Receipt N 2 which is positioned to receive the printed data.
The adjustable stops are so arranged that any of the six locations can be placed opposite the printing wheels 119 and the plate 179.
The data is entered on the form 181 using a hammer 185 located below the table 180. An opening is made in the latter to allow the hammer to pass and press the form and the tape 177 against the table. character wheels 119 and the cliché 179. The hammer 185 is mounted pi voting on a lug 186 and carries at its free end a roller 187 cooperating with a cam 188 wedged on a shaft 178 which carries, on the other hand, a gear 135 meshing with a pinion 134 fixed on the shaft 46.
When the shaft 46 rotates in the dextrorsum direction, the cam 188, thanks to the gears 134 and 135, cooperates with the roller 187 and lifts the hammer 185, the plate of which presses the underside of the form 181, carrying the latter and the tape 177 against the character wheels. After printing, the rotation of the cam 188 continuing, the hammer 185 drops by its own weight to its normal position, as determined by the cam 188. Retainer of the form.
The form 181 is held against accidental displacement, during the printing operation, by a device comprising a pair of arms 190 which can turn on the shaft 87 and spaced one apart. the other, (the way to grasp the insertable form near the ends of the printing hammer 185. To grip the form, the arms 190 are provided with a pair of retaining ridges 191 which are brought to their upper position. by a spring 192, stretched between a pin of the arm 190 and a tenon of the frame of the machine. An opening is provided in the table 180 to allow the passage of the arms, which press the form against a guard plate 193 placed slightly in the middle. above table 180.
When the cash register is at rest; the retainer 191 is held in the low position by a cam 195 which normally rests on the path of a pin 196 held between the two arms 190. When the shaft 178 begins to rotate, at the start of the operation, the cam 195, while rotating, moves away from the lug 196, allowing the spring 192 to raise the arms 190, as previously indicated, so that the form 181 is clamped between said arms and the guard plate 193.
Towards the end of operation, the cam 195, returning to its original position, acts on the lug 196 and lowers the arms 190 and returns them to the position illustrated in FIG. 1. _ Command of the mechanism of triggering by the insertable form.
In order that the body cannot be operated without the form 181 being in the correct position, a device is provided to normally lock the trip shaft 87 against any unlocking movement as long as the form is not in the correct position. desired position. This device com takes a locking arm 200 pivoting on a shaft 201 carried by the frame of the body. The arm 200 is actuated in the senestrorsal direction by a spring 202 and is limited in this movement by a lug 203, to which the other end of the spring 202 is fixed.
A forward extension 204 of the locking arm 200 is normally in the path of a stud 205 carried by an arm 206 secured to the trip shaft. 87. Therefore, as long as the arm 200 is in the position shown in fig. 1, the shaft 87 cannot turn and therefore the body cannot be released. The upper end of the rusting worm arm 200 is wedge-shaped, normally protruding through an opening made in table 1.80 and will sink into a recess in guard plate 193.
When the form 181 is placed on the table 180 and entered correctly, the form, making contact with the projection, is done. tilt the locking arm 200 in the dextrorsal direction until the form is free to pass over the apex of the angle formed on the free end of the locking arm 200. This movement of the locking arm 200, which is imparted by the introduction of the form, is sufficient for the extension 204 to deviate from the path of the lug 205 fixed to the trip shaft and, therefore, the machine can be operated in the manner described.
The spring 202 is very weak, so that the form $ 1, which is printed on a strong paper specially designed for this purpose, can achieve the desired result.
Printing mechanism (the files.
The sheet 210 (fig. 9) is certified by the cash register by being introduced into the receptacle provided for this purpose before the cash register is. triggered. A hopper 211 is supported by the frame of the body and is provided with a slot 212 in which the plug 210 is placed. Normally, the trip shaft 87 is blocked against any free movement when no plug 210 is in the hopper 211, but the positioning of the plug 210 operates the trip mechanism, which allows the release of the plug. the box.
Likewise, if the operator forgot to remove the plug from the hopper 211 once the body has finished its operation, the shaft 87 would automatically be blocked against any movement. release until the card is withdrawn and a new card v is introduced.
Mechanism (the blocking of the body controlled by the card.
In phis of the blocking mechanisms previously described, the trigger shaft of the body 87 is normally blocked against any movement by a locking part 213 (fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4). To one of the aforementioned arms 105 is connected a rod 214, also connected to a yoke 215, pivoting on a shaft 216. The yoke 215 comprises an arm 217 on which is mounted a stud 218 engaged with an oven end. fall of an arm 219 pivoting on a shaft 220. The arm 219 is provided with a finger 221 extending forward and normally resting on the upper end 222 of the previously mentioned locking part 213.
The locking piece 213 pivots on a stud 223 and is provided with a yoke normally bearing against a shaft 224, where it is. maintained by a spring 226. An arm 225 of the part 213 penetrates into openings made in the walls of the hopper 211 and passes through the slot 212, so as to be in the path of the plug, when the latter is introduced therein. .
As long as the end 222 is in the path of the finger 221, the trigger shaft 87 is blocked against any rotational movement. The introduction of the plug 210 into the slot 212 ensures its contact. with the arm 225 and swings the locking piece 213 in the dext.orsum direction, moving the end 222 away from the path of the finger 221. Subsequently, when the drive bar 75 is depressed and the shaft 87 is triggered, the arm 219 is free to rotate in the dextrorsum direction, thus allowing the operation of the body.
As long as the plug remains in the slot 212, the end 222 remains out of the path of the finger 221 and, therefore, the machine could be triggered for its operation without the plug being withdrawn from the slot 212. Or , it is precisely desired to prevent such a repetitive operation as long as the card 210 has not been withdrawn from the cash register. In order to achieve this result, a second device has been provided for preventing the rocking movement of the arm 219 when the plug 210 is left in the slot 212 after completion of the checkout operation.
On a stud 230 of the locking piece 213 pivots an intermediate piece 231 which normally rests against a rod 232. When the body is released, a finger 233, facing downwards, of the arm 219, comes. place themselves against one of the faces of part 231, as seen in fig. 3. The upper end of the intermediate piece is provided with a notch 23-1 which can cooperate with a finger 235, fixed on a rotary shaft 236.
The shaft 236 makes a complete revolution in the senestrorsum direction (fig. 2, 3 and 4) for each operation, thanks to a device described below. Towards the end of this complete rotation, the finger 235 engages with the lower part of the intermediate piece 231 which engages with the finger 233 of the arm 21.9, once the arm 219 has been returned to its normal position.
The relative positions of the parts at the end of the operation of the cash register, the plug (the- dying in the slot 212, are shown in fig. 4. This figure shows that the finger 233 is in engagement with the intermediate part 231, and that this is held against finger 235.
Therefore, if an attempt is made to trigger the body by keying in the drive bar 75, the middle piece 231 and the finger 235 prevent the arm '319 from tilting in the dextrorsal direction and, therefore, prevent the rocking movement of the trip shaft 87, which locks the body against any operation. When the plug 210 is withdrawn from the slot 212, the locking piece 213 re falls, in the senestrorsum direction, which moves the intermediate piece 231 between the finger 933 and the finger 235.
At this time, the parts take the positions shown in fig. 2 and when inserting another receipt into the cash register, the locking piece 21.3 is again tilted in the dextrorsal direction, allowing the cash register to be released for operation. . As indicated previously, the notch 234 is only a simple release notch, intended to allow the intermediate piece to rise when the plug is placed in position in the slot 212. This notch does not play any other. role.
The shaft 236 is driven by a pinion 237 (fig. 1) connected by a sleeve to the gear 157. The pinion 237 meshes with another pinion 238 wedged on the shaft 236. Thus, when operating the body and the main shaft 31 receives its rotational movement, the rotation of the shaft 236 is caused by the intermediary of the gear train comprising the pinion 238 and the gears 237, 157 and 159. Mechanism printing of the file.
The data printed on the lower line 245 of the sheet 210- (fig. 9) are inserted there by a printing hammer 240 (fig. 1) pivoting on a shaft 241. The hammer 240 is actuated by a cam 242 fixed on tree 236 previously mentioned. A spring 246 maintains the hammer 240 in its normal position, shown in FIG. 1.
When the main shaft 31 rotates in the manner previously described, dragging the rotation of the shaft 236, 1a, cam 242, coming into contact with a roller 244 of the hammer 240, press the plug 210 and the ru ban 177 against the type wheels 117, thus producing an impression on the card. Ribbon mechanism. . Ribbon 177 is represented by a dashed line; it is of the endless type and is supported by rods carried by a removable frame disposed in the body in a known manner.
The tape passes over an indented roller 250, provided with a ratchet wheel 251, that is. engaged with a spring-actuated advancement pawl 252, the right-hand end (Fig. 1) of pawl 252 being pivoted on a lever 253. The lever 253 pivots on a lug 254 and its upper end is provided with a a roller 256 engaged with the cam 174 previously mentioned. Each time the body is in operation, the cam 174 switches the lever 253 in the direction. dextrorsum, which advances the ribbon one step.
A spring 255 returns the lever 253 to its starting position, at the moment when the high point of the cam 174 moves away from the roller of the lever 253. - Summary. trigger checkout commands.
It clearly follows from all of the above that the trip shaft 87 of the body is controlled by four different means. First, the release movement of shaft 87 is under the control of drive bar 75. Second, form 181 must be in position on table 180, in order to rotate arm 200 and release the extension 204 thereof from the lug 205. Third, the locking piece 213 must be removed from the finger 221 of the arm 219.
In addition, as long as the plug remains in the slot 212, at the end of the operation of the body, the intermediate piece 231 prevents the release of the shaft 87, and this until after removal of the plug 210 from the slot 212 , so that the intermediate piece 213 is withdrawn from the path of the finger 233.
Thus, the cash register shown and described is of the type described in patent No. 284947 mentioned above, but which has been modified for the purpose of registering articles according to a system of collecting the payment. income tax as practiced in some countries.
The form 181 shown in fig. 8 is a tax sheet which is only a fragmentary part of an entire printed matter, of which -a part containing data relating to the taxable person and the tax calculation method has been intentionally omitted, only the parts of the printout intended to receive data printed by the checkout being shown here. For the collection of income tax, the amount of tax is calculated and entered in the upper right corner, depending on the months during which the tax installments must be paid, at the same time as the overall amount of tax.
The form is, moreover, provided with six accounting documents or detachable sheets which are numbered in consecutive order, that in which the down payments must be paid. The collector keeps the statement up to date in his offices and when the due date of a deposit arrives, a sheet 210 (fig. 9) is detached and sent to the taxpayer. When paying his deposit, the taxpayer brings form 210 to the collector and pays the amount of tax. The collector withdraws form 181 from his file and inserts it, in the appropriate position, in the sliding table provided for this purpose on the cash register.
The detached card 210 is inserted into the card holder; the amount of tax paid is entered during the operation of the fund and the file is automatically certified by it.
In order for the entries to be complete both on form 181 and on card 210, the cash register is provided with safety devices intended to prevent the operation of the cash register as long as the form and the file are not both in the register. checkout. When form 181 is inserted into the. checkout, a trigger mechanism lock is released by the form itself, - in other words, when the form is introduced into the cashbox, the trigger shaft locking lock is actuated. When the plug 210 is removed from its receptacle, a second shaft locking latch is also actuated. Thus, two bolts are provided for the trip shaft, the first actuated by the form 181, the second by the plug 210.
Form 210 could be forgotten by the operator and left in the cash register, which would result in the taxpayer not receiving. not the receipt due to him. In order to warn the operator that the card has not been removed from the cash register, a third lock is provided, which comes into action at the end of the operation of the cash register and which remains active as long as the card has not been removed. has not been removed from the ticket container. Removal of the plug makes the second lock effective, and before the cash register can be triggered again for further operation, another plug must be placed in the cash register.
The data composed in the cash register and intended to be printed on the Form 181 and on the Form 210 are composed by hand operated levers. In addition to the entries made on the forms, an entry is also. made on a control strip. Therefore, the cash register is provided with three groups of character wheels which are set in place by the levers of the uprights in question.
